COMPLETED SERIES COMPILATION This set contains all three books in the Rise of the Sphinx series: Oblivion, Obscured, and Obsessed. *Twist on Egyptian mythology that morphs into a take on the seven deadly sins *Mythological shifters *Multi POV *Widowed, young mother of a prophetic little girl *Red herrings galore
Oblivion- I thought life was hard enough. Widowed young and left to raise my daughter alone, I never expected the threats I would have to shield her from. Magic, monsters, and three men fighting to protect their final hope. I have nothing to gain, but everything to lose... or so I thought. Obscured- The journey through the Underworld is brutal and unforgiving. Nightmares come to life, taking everything that I thought I knew and tearing it apart. Destroy or be destroyed. But when every truth is obscured, what choice is left but to raze everything to the ground and build our future on the ashes? Obsessed- They say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, but the path to redemption is far more winding. Now, I just need to fix everyone else's mess without becoming the biggest sway in the balance. They put their faith in a Sin, and I can't even bring myself to laugh at the irony.
Widowed single mother - Raina and her daughter Skye are the target of a kidnapping. Until 3 men - Cain, Ryker and Seros come to their rescue. Which then drags them into a new world of Supernatural creatures, mystery and a bigger plot that involves them. Raina is fiercely protective of Skye (which i loved) but Skye herself was a breath of fresh air too. Both of them grew as characters grew as the boxset progressed. Its a cracking read with characters you cant help but like. Well i certainly loved them
This is a completed series so you can binge read all three books and not have to wait (which you will find is fantastic!) for the next release.
The story is based on Raine a widowed, single mother and her daughter Skye. They are the targets of a series of events that start with kidnapping and then get even more bizarre after that. Completely on their own, it is up to Raina to thwart off the attacks until 3 men seem to appear out of nowhere. Cain, Ryker, and Seros come to their rescue but then that just opens up the door to the supernatural to the girls. They are dragged into a new world of Supernatural creatures, mystery, and a bigger plot/prophecy that involves them.
Raina is a fantastic FMC. She is sarcastic, witty, foul-mouthed, and flawed. She is fiercely protective of her daughter, as we all would be, and so it makes it easy to relate to her. The guys are amazing! They have their own personality and baggage and yet they work so well as a team that you do think of them as a unit to start- as the series progresses you get a feel for each individual one. Sye is hilarious and she will have you cracking up in all the books. Each main character has great wit and banter with each other and they all work really well together. There is a handful of minor characters that also make you smile or rage depending.
These books show great character progression and the story flows so well that it's nearly seamless. I love all the sarcasm and "human realm" quips included. You really do get pulled along and you will not want to put this down for anything! I highly recommend this series to readers of PNR, especially ones that involve mythology, that like an RH theme as well.
What a fantastic boxset this is! This contains all three books in the Rise of the Sphinx series: Oblivion, Obscured, and Obsessed. It’s well written and has a Twist on Egyptian mythology, unique shifters, a kick ass female mc and her daughter, all set in a fantastic world created by the author. It’s an amazing journey of self discovery, love, betrayal, and I absolutely loved it!
I loved this series and recommend to any paranormal romance lover that doesn’t mind a reverse harem theme. Rise of the Sphinx is an amazing series with great characters that go on an incredible journey to save the world. There are a few characters that I would love to read about, one of the rhymes with juice.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ========== Oblivion ========== An amazing journey of self-discovery full of pitfalls
Raina, a single mother, struggles with the events that happened when she went to pick her daughter, Skye, up from pre-school. Along the way, she encounters more than ever expected and learns to lean on a group of three rare shifters, Cain, Ryker, and Seros, that come to her rescue. As the story progresses even stranger things occur, truths of their past are shared, and learning where strength lies will help them survive the trials they will face. J. Kearston starts her Rise of the Sphinx series out with an amazing journey of self-discovery full of the pitfalls one comes to expect when introducing a supernatural spin. I can’t wait to see what is planned for this troubled cast of characters as the continue on.
========== Obscured ========== Blends mythos to the reader’s benefit
Raina, a newly discovered Sphinx, and her shifter mates Cain, Ryker, and Seros travel into another plane to rescue Skye from the dangers within. As the story progresses parts of her past come to light, other parts resurrect, and dealing with the blows as they come may not be able to save them in the end. Obscured by J. Kearston blends myth and reality to the reader’s benefit. With characters selected from the myths of Egypt, Greece, South America, and Christianity; the storyline will leave one guessing. I cannot wait to read Obsessed to see how this series ends.
========== Obsessed ========== Brought the series to a close with a light show
Raina, a newly discovered Sphinx, is reeling from the events in Obscured along with her mates, Cain and Ryker. As the story progresses old fears return, friends become enemies, and betrayal may be the only way to save them all. J. Kearston brought the series to a close with a light show worthy of ringing in the New Year. Her blend of beliefs from a variety of cultures built an amazing world worth reading again and again.
4.5 stars I loved this series, it has a great FMC who is sassy but so loveable, she has humour and just gets on with things. The guys are so cute with Raine and Skye. I love this style of writing, I really felt like I got to know personalities and the humour just added to the enjoyment. I couldn't help but jump straight into the next book as soon as the first one finished.
Oblivion Thisbis the first part of the RH trilogy and I loved the start, it really pulled me in from the beginning. Raine is a widowed mother who's struggling to get through mundane days, until the day her child is in danger and then all hell breaks loose. Out of the blue she has 3 guys who want to help her and Skye but she has no idea why, but is pulled I to a world of strange creatures and magic. I love Raine as a character, she was sassy and independent but great with Skye and handled the guys like a pro! She has the best one-liners.The guys were all different and easily likeable.
Obscured If you're reading these book separately or with a gap (but why would you even consider not jumping straight into the next part?!), there is a little recap of where the story is up to, genius! I really wish that other books would do this as it was so helpful. Raina has now accepted the guys as her mates but her troubles have only just started. There is loads of revelations in this book along with quite a few new characters. The book is full of action with no slow parts at all and will keep you hooked.
Obsessed Raina was human a few weeks ago and so much has happened to her and her daughter, she's met shifter, mage, demons, originals and discovered that she is a Sphinx. But she takes it in her stride, and I loved her come back lines and sarcasm. So much is in this final part that I can't believe that it's only one book, there are twists and revelations, chapters that will keep you on the edge of your seat, but also sweet moments with her mates. I also loved the relationship she had with the foxes.
Oh my goodness this series was absolutely jaw dropping! I could not get enough of the books and had a hard time putting them down! I loved that this series had shifters that are not often used in books and are mostly extinct or don't actually exist.
My heart broke multiple times for Raina and Skye and how Skye definitely grew up faster than she had to but she did just end up following her mother's own footprints. I absolutely loved that we got to read the store from others prospectives and not just Raina as well!
At the end of the first book I was left reeling and definitely needing more while also wanting to throw the book! Then you pick right off where we left it and jump into a semi fast pace to help the whisperers! I thought everything would be great yet book 2 brought so many questions and had my head turning quiet often. I also found myself laughing so much with what was going on. I am so sad to see the series end with the final book and man did it go off with a bang!
There is a lot of steam, plenty of tearful moments and many moments I found myself laughing out loud. I absolutely love that in this series, Raina had a daughter before meeting her men and they do everything for the both of them. It is always amazing to see how protective and loving they are towards her especially since they are her father by blood. This series was really such an incredible read and I love J. Kearston's writing style and cannot wait to read more of her books!
The first word in this book sure sets the scene for the whole series. This no set is really well written in a style that just pulls you in..you will struggle to put this book down. The main character Raina is an amazing widow & single mum, love her especially her inner monologue. Skye is Raina’s daughter, she is cute and wise beyond her years. They cross paths with Cain, Ryder, Seros, who then becomes their allies in their journey. They all assist each other survive while bad guys are flung at them at every turn. I love all the detailed fight scenes and the unique abilities that are discovered along the way. The second book in this set sees the group head into another realm, there are still lots of fights and they continuously have to watch their backs. Raina and Skye then are lead i to a mysterious cavern to find out some truths. I’m trying hard not to giveaway any spoilers. This box set is so well written with tonnes of detail that you just fall into their world and struggle to put the book down. Loved the suspense and numerous twists throughout. Great steamy scenes. Overall an awesome read and will definitely read more from this author in the future.
~Oblivion~ I loved this read! This is a very unique story from the plot to the creatures. This has wonderful storytelling and world building. I am very excited to see where the story goes after the cliffhanger.
~Obscured~ This is a very attention grabbing and captivating read! This is incredibly written with amazing twists. I am speechless after reading this second book in the series. This picks right up where Oblivion (book 1) leaves off and keeps the same great pace. There is fantastic world and character building. I am very excited and am on the edge of my seat for the next book!
~Obsessed~ This is a great ending to this amazing series. This is well written and ties loose end together wonderfully. Exciting with plenty of twists and turns. There are sweet moments along with a few laughs. I really enjoyed not only this book but the entire series.
An absolutely FABULOUS adventure start to finish!!! Soooooo much action of all sorts. I'm hoping we meet these characters again in some form. Below is my review of book one within this complete series. If you like the supernatural, giant quests, project, Egyptian myths, Greek myths, and more then this is the series for you!!!
Wow!!!.I loved.this book. Tons of supernatural shifter shenanigans unlike any other. This is not your typical shifter series. Based on a few surprises along the way I'm guessing we will come across some Egyptian mythology here too. Filled to the brim with alpha males, and a woman who when this tale begins is truly having the WORST day of her life. Her entire world is about to turn on a dime and all she knows is she must protect her daughter. Jump into this action packed tale and enjoy the ride.
I loved this series! I love mythology and the author did a fantastic job taking a new spin on Egyptian mythology. I couldn’t get enough once I started it! There were so many twists and turns and at times it was a bit hard to know where it was going but I still enjoyed it so much! I was sad to see the end but was thrilled with the journey. Each book built on the one before and brought something new to enjoy. I loved Raina and Skye though I wanted to hug Skye with how fast she had to grow up. The different PoV brought so much more enjoyment and life to the story and I was very glad to have them. I was so happy to have the box set since some of the endings of the books made me want to scream and find out what would happen next. Definitely a great series for anyone who loves myths, epic adventures, great story telling, supernatural beings, and kickass main characters.
This book is all kinds of epic the twist and turns are just as intense as they are deep. The snark and sarcasm are killer. I love the story line and that fluffy makes you want the next one immediately after.
Book 2
I need book 3 I can't believe that plot twist. I love how these books are going great new author. I love the single mom who that she was human element of surprise there. Great alpha makes and great word building. Mythology is also a big win highly recommend you check these out
Book 3
Omg what a sweet ending to a story. I loved all the mini twist and and all the sweet funny moments. I loved watching the characters grow in this series. It was a really fun read an exposing the human world to shifters always makes me laugh.
This was teh first series i read by this author and let me tell you i am well and truly hooked, 5 starts for world building - so detailed and easy to imagine 5 stars for Plot development - lots of twist and turns plus some great blindsiders, angst and betrayal plus of course love and plenty of heat and sizzle 5 stars for Characters - OMG where to start - Raina, Skye, Cain, Ryker, and Sero all easy to imagine and the relationships are heartfelt!
This storey in itself stands out as our main character is a single mother which isnt something you come accross much in Paranormal RH books, Also she is a sphinx which again is rate and add to that the amazing storey telling and you have something so unique its a real gem.
I missed these books first time round, so the box set release seemed like a good time to catch up.
What a roller coaster of a tale!
Raina starts out as a widowed single mother, and over the course of the three books discovers that pretty much everything she thought she knew - about herself, her daughter and about the world - is wrong.
There's a great mix of different mythologies, mostly Egyptian and Greek, and a lot of twists and turns. Binging it meant I didn't have the suspense of the cliff-hangers at the end of each book, but I can imagine the impact of having to wait.
I enjoyed this, and I believe the author has more books in the same universe, which I@m looking forward to checking out.
I can honestly say that I love this series so much! It’s so unique and the world-building is beautiful. Watching everything come together in this series is brilliant and I would recommend it for anyone who loves anything unique and supernatural.
I love all the characters in this series, but Skye has a little place in my heart for everything she has to deal with as only a child, she is also such a funny and often wise character despite her age.
The romance in this series is sweet and although not complicated, the plot remains very interesting until the end. Plus, who wouldn’t want to read a unique novel about Sphinx shifters?!
This is such a unique series! I was caught up in the amazing world building and the character personalities from the start. I loved that I was able to binge the entire series because I just couldn’t put it down. I was sucked into the world J. Kearston built with her brilliant words. There were so many different aspects to this amazing story. You get to see the relationship between Raina and her men as they journey together as well as the relationship between Raina and her daughter. These fabulous characters will pull on your heartstrings and keep you entertained for the entire story! Absolutely fantastic!! Highly recommended! 💜🖤
I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed this series. You have everything from rare mythological shifters, hot chemistry between mates, so many plot twist and turns and everything is not what it seems. It was so intense, I couldn't put this down. The character development and epic world building was incredibly fantastic. I mean I am still in awe at literally everything about this series. It's too bad that I can't rate higher than a 5, it's definitely worth a lot more. Plus, if you are a huge Mythology buff like me, than I would highly recommend this one.
I received an ARC and voluntarily gave my honest opinion and review
ohhh I love this series! You get the whole collection without having to wait for the next book! When Raina hears the screams of daughter being kidnapped that fear, I felt that right with her. This story pulls all the heartstrings and even gives us some very hot moments. If you love mythical creatures and shifters alike I highly recommend. We find out some BIG revelations and it starts to make sense. But the betrayal...ugh. Hope to see more from this world with some new characters introduced it should be interesting! Great ending as well. Hope Skye gets her own series.
I absolutely love this series, it was fantastic! The mother/daughter dynamic was just adorable. Raina is just a fantastic character. She is a strong and caring mother. Taking care of her daughter on the run is difficult enough, but even harder with one as precocious as hers. The guys in this, they all try to protect her yet they don’t coddle her. They understand she is a strong woman and can fend for herself if needed. They are her support and maybe guidance when needed. It really is one of my favorite reads.
Excellent completed paranormal rh series. The world building and character development are both excellent. I love that her daughter is just as uniquely powerful as she is and her guys are a lovely broken mess. All the feels throughout this series. Plenty of drama and intrigue. Action packed and high octane. Unique and interesting takes on the Underworld and the seven deadly sins. Uncommon shifters and cool Egyptian mythology as well. Extremely well done from start to finish. One of the best overall series I’ve read in this genre. Highly recommended.
I'm always iffy about putting egyptian lore into books as it can go very badly. Although skeptical at first, I was able to overcome my fear that this would be a not so good romantization of Ancient Egyptian Gods, and although it is a bit of that, it proved to be able to hold its own and surprise me at how creative, unique, and respectful it was in creating a fantastical paranormal series that is sure to capture the reader and bring them on a magical ride of hope, uncertainties, strength, and triumph.
This was a really good series. It had many heartbreaking moments. It had all the steam I have come to expect from a RH book. It had many mysteries. I loved that it kept me on the edge of my seat. Raina goes through so much in her short life. She is a very strong character. I love that she doesn't allow the men to coddle her. Skye is such a strong little girl, who is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. I would love to have more to this story maybe to read Skye's story when she is an adult.
This box set was amazing!! I love everything of J. Kearston’s writings so far. I can always relate in some way to her characters and her books keep me on the edge of my seat. The relationship between Raina and Skye is something special and I love how Raina protects her daughter at all costs. Then there is the relationship between Raina and her alpha males that is seriously off the charts. Mix that with a lot of twists and turns like a roller coaster and you definitely won't put these books down!! I highly recommend this set!!!
This series is beyond amazing. Every character is written in such a way you can imagine them easily. Raina is the main character and she is the absolute kick butt, leave my family alone, I won’t ever give up type of person. The story will enthrall you with references of both Egyptian and Greek mythology and then mix it with parts of Christianity. There is not a dull moment with tons of fighting and some very hot scenes. I loved this series and would tell anyone that loves paranormal romances that this is a must read.
I read this series as they were released as individual books because I loved the twists thats came with a story about Egyptians. The heroine discovers her abilities while saving her daughter which leads to them fighting to save the world. Each book brings in new betrayal, enemies, and twists, that you absolutely do not want to miss. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
I was given an ARC of the boxset as a refresher, so I am providing my honest voluntary review.
I loved the Rise of the Sphinx series! Blending mythology from multiple cultures and taking a completely new spin at paranormal creatures, readers will truly be enthralled by this engaging tale focusing on the main heroine Raina and her shifter mates Cain, Ryker, and Seros. Full of adventure, romance, laughter, and some pain and sorrow, it is a story you will not want to walk away from, and you won't have to because the complete series is available.
This box set containing the complete series is a must read. It has so much action to keep a reader going that i found it hard to put them down. The ties of Egyptian mythology with the more contemporary story make this a beautifully written adventure tale with romance and family. I really loved reading this series so much. It is worth every second of time. This is just a wonderful taste of something refreshing to read.
This series is such an amazing epic adventure. I loce each of these characters. They are complex and their relationships feel real. There are so many rare and interesting shifters, The Sphinx of course, a quetzalcoatl, a manticore, and a gryphon. I love the chapters from different points of view, including young Skye. There a several twists amd turns that I did not see coming. I could not put it down.
I came back to read this series by J. Kearston after I'd read most of her newer releases and really enjoyed them.
Featuring some really interesting different shifter types for the harem as well as a strong almost godlike main character in Raina it was really intriguing with all the twists and travelling between realms.
With some new twists on old myths and legends I really enjoyed this series.
Wow this series is awesome. It is well written and keeps your attention. I could not put this down. I highly recommend. It has everything you could possibly want action in every book following the FMC who is finding her way along with her child. It has Sphinx Shifters which is so unique. Raina is strong and her men do not treat her like she is weak.
