Oh I loved these stories. Gwen Cooper has such a way of writing, entertaining, moving, so real, in a way that you really feel connected. This was an e-book that Gwen was offering for free on her website (thank you!!) It held the short stories titled,
-Getting There is Half the Fun
-The Bells
-Spray Anything
-The Worm Has Turned
-Daylight Cravings
-The End of the Beginning
This time I only read The Bells, Spray Anything, and Daylight Cravings, since I have already read the other short stories from her other collections. Let me just say now, I will never call my Ziggy the most dramatic cat in the world again. LOL! Daylight Cravings was an eye opener for me. Oh it was hilarious how she presented her "case" as to a jury. I well know the horrors of Daylight Savings and very much wish that nonsense would be done away with. Ziggy starts the morning EVERY day, Daylight Savings or no, crying piteously for his breakfast. In his defense, he does wait for my alarm to go off before he starts, which really is very accommodating of him and I know I am lucky in that. But I have told my friends countless times that he is the most dramatic kitten in the world because he will cry almost without let-up until he gets his fresh breakfast. Yes fresh. Ziggy is a grazer, and while I do give him a specific portion appropriate to his age, I give it all to him in the morning (in a sealed feeder that keeps it fresh and opens when he approaches) and he will nibble on it throughout the day and doesn't even finish it. Therefore, he seems to feel that what is left over in the morning is not appropriate for him to eat, and he needs fresh food. All I do is make a show of putting it back in the bag, then taking it back out along with the rest of the portion, and back in to his bowl and he's happy, but now it's "fresh" in his mind. I even recorded his crying once to show my friends as proof of his being the most dramatic cat in the world, but after reading "Daylight Cravings" I will, with great sympathy to Gwen Cooper, amend my claim. LOL! Oh I have loved reading about sweet Clayton and Fanny. The Bells and Spray Anything was equally funny, and I remember from reading the other short stories before that they are equally good, though, be prepared for some deep emotions. I highly recommend this e-book and if you loved Mrs. Cooper's other books, you'll love this one too!

Disclaimer: I received a digital copy of this book for free off Instagram, but the opinions given here are wholly my own. When I saw this book, I was truly intrigued, being a "crazy cat lady" myself, so I had to download it. In fact, I was so excited to read it, Homer Returns jumped the line of all the books I was currently reading (it's not uncommon for me to have a couple of books going concurrently) I took this book everywhere to read in my spare time. It even went with me to stand in line to get my first Covid vaccine! I had no prior knowledge of Homer, but fell in love with him and his merry band of siblings through the years. Gwen is a very descriptive writer, and I could visualize all the action and could relate to all the kitty antics. I am up earlier than I would like today because Bonzo and Lucky thought breakfast should be served at 4:30 on Easter Sunday. Where are they now? Back in bed with full tummies! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will seek out more from this author, as I know there will be more tales of Clayton and Fanny! A must read for cat lovers!

Any cat lover will truly enjoy this book. It contains happy, comical, sad, but loving cat antics. I absolutely loved these crazy kitty stories. Having had two cats for 19 and 14 years respectively made these stories very much hit home!

Are correct catch up on what happened at the end of Homas life. Some lovely stories about her new fairy members.
A great advocate for animals that most people wouldn’t want. I had one such dog passed away last year at 13. The special pets teach us more than we give to them.

Love and loss is never easy. Homer Returns is a nice follow up to Homer's Odyssey, and answers the questions readers of the first book might have about how did things end up.
