Ex-Navy SEAL Eli Miller is headed back to the family ranch after seventeen years of service. Starting over is tough, especially when he doesn’t know if he wants to be a cowboy again.
No one deserves a year like Addison Treadway has experienced. She’s faced an unfaithful husband, divorce, breast cancer, and major surgery. She needs time to regroup and heal. When her friend offers her a no-strings apartment on a horse ranch in Montana, it’s impossible to say no.
A year ago, Eli Miller and Addison Treadway had a one-night fling that left both of them with regret and unresolved conflicts. Neither expected to see the other again. Fate had other plans.
Born and raised in Arkansas. After wandering the world for 17 years (okay, it was Memphis, but it felt like another world!), I've made it home again. I live in a small vine covered cottage on the shores of a 8,000 acre lake with 2 dogs, a bitchy parrot and my fisherman husband. Live is good.
I have always enjoyed this author's writing style, her brand of humor, and her ability to bring to life a situation that many women face. The Big C is no respecter of persons, as Addison Treadway discovers. Accepting the offer made by the Miller family to stay on their ranch whilst she is undergoing reconstructive surgery, the last person Addison expected to see was the sexy SEAL who walked out on her after a one-night stand. Leaving the SEAL team behind is a life-altering situation for Eli Miller. His team members have been closer to him than his family and as he embarks on a new adventure, he is feeling disconnected and slightly lost, having no specific plans, apart from assisting his brother on the ranch. Discovering the woman he thought had lied to him in his apartment on the ranch, leaves him in a state of shock, but when he is eventually prepared to hear her out, he realizes what an idiot he has been. However, despite their obvious connection, Eli has no intention of following his male instincts to further a relationship with Addison but rather sets out to befriend her and find out how best to help her find her feet again. This romance touched all the right spots for me. I love the main characters in this book, and in fact, the whole Miller family makes one smile. Although not a suspenseful story, there is nevertheless an underlying thread of unfinished business that has to be resolved, and the novel does come to a happy and successful conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
An Absolutely Outstanding Romance . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Hot Seal Sweet and Spicy . This is an emotional and heartwarming and sexy story . Hot Seal, Sweet & Spicy: Seals in Paradise Cynthia D’Alba
Eli and Addison have many obstacles to overcome…can they? A big miss understanding when they met causes hard feelings especially when they meet again. Being drawn together gives them time to heal, but is it enough? A great read filled with plenty of emotions from sweet to spicy. A must read with a bit of suspense at the end.
Hot SEAL, Sweet and Spicy by Cynthia D’Alba is part of the SEALs in Paradise multi-author continuity series. It’s also connected to Ms D’Alba’s Snowy Montana Nights, as the heroes of the stories are brothers.
Retiring SEAL Eli “Wolf” Miller meets Addison Treadway at his brother’s wedding. He and the striking Ms Treadway, a popular TV personality from Florida, hit it off, but it isn’t until he returns to his family’s ranch when he decides to leave the military that he thinks of pursuing something with Addy.
Cynthia D’Alba’s characters are warm and engaging. Eli is a bit of a leaper to conclusions initially, but he makes up for it with consideration and kindness later. Addison is a fierce and lovely survivor, and her very understandable concerns make her easy to relate to. Hot SEAL, Sweet and Spicy is a terrific read and fun addition to the series!
Cynthia D’Alba has given us something special with her new book, “Hot SEAL, Sweet and Spicy”, part of the ‘SEALs in Paradise’ series of interconnected standalone stories. This is a story that hits deep in some surprising ways.
Addison and Eli first meet when they are both in the bridal party of her best friend and his brother. She’s the hostess of a successful television show and he’s a career Navy SEAL. They share a powerful instant connection, but then a disastrous miscommunication wrecks everything. When he retires from the Navy 8 months later and goes home to his family’s ranch, he’s struggling with worry about how he’s going to adjust to cowboy life after so many years in the military. It’s understandably shocking when he finds Addison there as a guest of his sister-in-law. Addison is recovering from major surgery that’s left her with physical, emotional and psychological consequences. As the story develops the undeniable attraction between them quickly resurfaces, and the miscommunication from their initial weekend so many months ago is resolved. Now, though, other misunderstandings, assumptions and worries regarding her recovery from cancer treatment and surgery put their relationship firmly in the ‘friend zone.’ Neither of them truly wants it that way, yet neither can figure out quite how to change it without risking the friendship that has bloomed between them.
I appreciated that neither of the main characters were depicted as stereotypes. For example, he’s not some manwhore military man or guy who barely speaks, and she’s not an incredibly naïve girl or a woman who cares about nothing but her career. Instead, they both have multi-faceted personalities that really make them interesting characters. The secondary characters in this story are good, and if you’ve read other books in this series you’ll recognize a few of them.
I thought this story was truly outstanding. The author does an excellent job making us feel the jumbled emotions that the characters are feeling. She also effectively conveys Addison’s experiences with her battle against cancer. This is a story that manages to be entertaining, heartbreaking, passionate and inspirational all at once.
Eli 'Wolf' Miller is leaving his team, retiring to go home to his family ranch. His parents are spending half the year in Florida and his brother can use the help. The journey home is uneventful and although it's not that late when he arrives, it's long past bedtime for ranchers whose days start at the crack of dawn. He knows where the key is to the apartment he'll be staying in so decides to just settle in for the night. He just grabs a beer from the fridge when he gets the shock of his life. Addison Treadway in his apartment, the woman he was falling in love with at Zane and Wendy's wedding. He walked away after a phone call from 'her husband'.
Addison only knows Eli walked away from her without a word. She has no idea what happened and she had far more important things to deal with, heartbreak was at the bottom of that list as she went through surgery, chemo and more. Wendy is her surgeon and she's recuperating at the ranch. It's truly a good place to be with fresh air and quiet, now that's all disappearing with Eli's presence.
Eli confronts her, well sort of and gets yelled at by his mother, then thinks he hears Addison crying when he goes to collect his laundry. He can't stand that he made her cry and knows he needs to make amends.
Their conversation leads to understanding and a bit of a challenge.
Addison's input along with his own assessment of his new home leads to lots of fun and renovations. There's also the fun cooking adventures and some interesting developments with a Buffalo Chili Contest. Of course we haven't heard the last from the ex either.
I love the way this relationship develops from the initial hot and heavy of the first meeting, to the now slow, get to know you, then the sizzle.
Thank you Cynthia for shedding light on the treatment and reconstruction surgery with breast cancer. It fit the story perfectly while giving information and hope.
I am officially in love with Eli Miller. Please don't tell my husband because he just wouldn't understand about "book boyfriends". But seriously! How could anyone resist a hunky, strong, very attractive, Navy Seal, who is also a Cowboy and an all-around good guy who loves to cook!! And what's cooking in this latest novel by Cynthia D'Alba is smokin' HOT.
If you haven't grabbed one of these Hot Seals in Paradise novels, you are missing out! Each one can be read as a stand-alone, but you will frequently find a favorite character or two from previous books in the Hot Seals realm.
As for "Sweet & Spicy", author Cynthia D'Alba has created characters I absolutely loved. This storyline hit home somewhat and I loved how Ms. D'Alba told Addison's story, every heartbreaking moment of what she endured, both physically and psychologically, after being diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).
While reading this, I cried. Yes, big old alligator tears running down my cheeks. Sometimes I cried because of what Addison was going through and sometimes I cried because of how heartwarming it was to see how real friends and one very special man could make everything right in Addison's world.
Oh! And I need to mention that the romance scenes were hot!
This is a great second chance that was filled with misunderstandings and no communication. Throw in an ex husband who is harrassing her and things can go from bad to worse. Eli and Addison met at his brothers wedding and it was instant attraction for them both. Addison is facing breast cancer surgery and reconstruction and figures a weekend fling before she starts treatment is a good thing but neither expected feelings to get involved from the start. Then a huge misunderstanding and bad choices lead Eli to walk out without a word and head back to California early. When he processes out of the SEALs and gets home, he is surprised to see Addison there. They are both still hurt and mad at the other because of him walking out without a word. When he finally explains his reason, they start to heal and he also finds out what she has been through in the last eight months. What will happen when her ex finds out where she is? Will she be able to get away from him when he shows up and tries to force her to go with him and renew their vows because he wants access to her money?
Hot SEAL, Sweet and Spicy by Cynthia D'Alba is book 33 of SEALs in Paradise. This is Eli Miller and Addison Treadway 's story. They met at Eli's brother and Addison's friend.s wedding. There was a major miscommunication and their night ended badly. Eli has left the SEALs and moved back to help with the ranch so back to being a cowboy. Addison has had a bad year and is recovering from Cancer in the apartment on the ranch. There are major issues but Eli decides to be Addison's friend as she recovers. They shop for his house that he is remodeling and buying things for. and Eli cooks. the Chili contest is interesting. Cynthia D'Alba does a wonderful job of making her characters and their experiences real. There are surprises in store for the readers. This is a sensitive , romantic story that has adventure, hope, shows that things are not always as what they seem. communication is important as well as hope. I have voluntarily read and review this ARC.
The Hot Seal Series Continues With Sweet &Spicy by Cynthia D'Alba and let me tell you this book was absolutely fantastic and will have you enthralled from the beginning until the end. Eli Miller has just retired from the seals after 17 years of service and heading back to his family's ranch in Montana. He still hasn't been able to forget Addison Treadway even through his anger he still can't get her out of his mind and the last time they were together? Addison Treadway was in her friends wedding and after a horrible year she meets Eli but when he ghost her and hurts her can she ever let him have a second chance? This book was so good and had all the right feels. We also got to see a few crossover characters in this book which is absolutely fantastic. I am excited to see what Cynthia D'Alba has in her up and coming books
I adored Hot Seal, Sweet and Spicy, Cynthia D'Alba smartly crafted a marvelous romance with two dynamic characters. Eli and Addison were obviously fated fot one another. I mean instant attraction and off the charts chemistry but dang did I want to bang there heads together and yell "quite assuming what he/she is thinking, wanting or feeling." This is a romance pure and simple. There's no high drama, edge of your seat or hard hitting action. What there is is a steamy mind blowing encounter on a wedding weekend that is derailed by a phone call. Months later they meet again, explanations are given, a relationship develops through shared experiences and camaraderie but it's definitely "friend-zoned" They finally get past their assumptions and admit their feelings...yay!
There are times you are blessed to have the book you are reading to touch you in a way that you can't exactly explain. Hot SEAL, Sweet and Spicy does this for me. The heroine is very relatable. Having friends and family that have had breast cancer, the issue hit close to home. I felt for Addison once you hear her side of the first meeting between her and Eli.
Speaking of Eli, pretty sure most would love for this hunky SEAL to be in your life. Granted, I would prefer to have him as a love interest but he would fun to have as a friend. You would know he would stand up for you because that is in his DNA.
Cynthia D'Alba hit it out of the park with this book. I know it will be placed on the shelf as a favorite as it is most definitely one I will revisit.
What a wonderful read. Eli and Addison meet at his Brothers wedding. Of course they have a wonderful time together but as usual there is a hiccup to the relationship and Eli leaves. Addison feels slightly devastated and is also dealing with her diagnosis of breast cancel. Soon Eli has decided that he will leave the Seal Team and return to his family’s ranch in Montana. Little surprise wants for him when finds Addison in his apartment on the ranch. As meetings go not the best however through the course of events different things come to light for both Eli and Addison. Are these two going to get their happily ever after. Guess you’ll have to read the book.
Hot SEAL Sweet and Spicy was a perfect blend! The story starts off with Addison, a talk show host who is a bridesmaid for a friend's wedding. She's determined to have one last hurrah before her life takes a change and what better way than with the Grooms brother?! Addison and this hunky SEAL get Spicy for this weekend wedding before he leaves....he's not into married women. Eli is heading back to the family ranch for a change of pace. The last thing he expected to see was Addison....in his apartment. These two start to bond and find their one weekend romance may not be enough. Thus book was FANTASTIC! Loved the story and the characters. Cynthia doesn't disappoint her readers!!
4.5 stars. I enjoyed watching Eli and Addison get to know each other by hanging out together as friends. They had chemistry at first sight but because of a misunderstanding, he walked out on her. They met up again months later after she underwent chemo and breast removal and then augmentation. Their friendship is very sweet and you can tell how well they got along with each other. I just wished they told each other sooner that they were interested in being more than friends. The uncertainty dragged in a bit for me. Other than that, it was a good book. I enjoyed their banter and fun conversations. They really get each other.
Loved the story of Eli and Addison! The beginning will suck you in and hold your attention throughout the rest of the book. I especially loved how the writer described everything – from the cooking of the various pots of chili to the rebuilding of a person’s body after cancer surgery. Cynthia D’Alba has a special way with words. This is the latest in the Hot SEAL, SEALS in Paradise series, and it was a wonderful addition. I would recommend reading this and then going back to read the others in the series. Great story!
This story involves Eli "Wolf" Miller, the chef of his Seal team, retiring and heading back to his home in Montana. When he arrives and finds Addison Treadway in his place, he is surprised. Here is the one night stand from his brothers wedding 8 months earlier. Due to mutual misunderstandings they parted on not so good terms. Can they figure it out and realize they are made for each other. LOVED this very sweet love story and would highly recommend this book and I give it 5stars!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Such a wonderful story. These two are perfect for each other when they first meet but then something happens and he ghosts. Eli is going home after his time with his Seal team. Addison is at the ranch recovering from her surgery and treatments. They are both in for a surprise. I really enjoyed this story. The story line was easy to follow. The only problem I had was reading it at 4 in the morning and Elu describing his meals and instantly wanting them!!
SWEET AND SPICY of the Hot SEAL series by Cynathia D’Alba, Grizzly Bitterroot Ranch Trilogy Book 2 / SEALs in Paradise #33
What an outstanding story! Two dynamic characters with sizzling attraction between them, humor, strong family ties, camaraderie in the friend-zone, informative about breast cancer, treatment and reconstruction surgery. The chili contest in SWEET AND SPICY makes me want to sample Eli "Wolf" Miller's chili!
What a beautiful story about second chances, surviving adversity, hope, love, family, humor, romance and the twist. Ms. D'Alba does an amazing job of capturing real emotions and dealing with a hard topic. Definitely a recommended read from me. I couldn't stop reading. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
Addy and Eli hit it off at his brother's wedding right before she has breast cancer surgery, then they are ready to have a second fantastic night when an unexpected lying man calls the room! After another year with him as a seal and her recovery, he finds her by surprise and their feelings come back and storm their way to an HEA. I read a beta version and freely leave my review!
Hot Seal, Sweet and Spicy: WOW! Perfect addition to the series. I really enjoyed this story! Fantastic writing and wonderful characters. I liked how Eli when he left his life in the Navy behind hand headed home to the family ranch that he got back in the grove of ranching life and to have a surprise when he got hone. I really enjoyed Eli's story!
I really enjoyed reading Eli and Addison’s story. I’ve been waiting for a new story from Ms D’Alba. What a great addition! Addison’s journey struck home with me because my sister traveled a similar cancer (triple negative) journey. Plus, you know I love cowboys! These two were fated! Loved their journey!
Cynthia D'Alba sure catches the heart of her characters and bares then open.
It is wonderful to read Cynthia D'Alba work. The Montana location sounds like paradise. Eli and Addison are fun characters at an age where their contemporaries have stated families and made their career moves. This is a fun read growing this couple
Excellent emotional romance.Retired military man return home and finds a former one night fling who is recovering from cancer. The turmoil and dramatic emotions they go through on the way to the HEA will keep you turning the pages.
I love this story. Eli and Addison meet at his brother's wedding and are instantly attracted to one another. But a misunderstanding separates them. Neither can forget the other and a year later they meet again. Each thinks the other only wants to be friends. Wonderful characters, steamy romance.
