Non è un errore
Las Vegas mi ha fregata. È l’unico modo in cui posso spiegare l’anello che ho al dito e l’uomo al mio fianco.
Certo, Cody è sexy. Ma non ho memoria della notte che abbiamo trascorso insieme.
Il problema è uno, anzi due.
Primo: è il fratello della mia migliore amica che, sono sicura, mi farà fuori.
Secondo: ho firmato un contratto televisivo che verrebbe annullato se la notizia si diffondesse e raggiungesse la stampa.
Annullare un matrimonio è semplice, no?
Cody però è di tutt’altro avviso, infatti ha bisogno di me per ricevere i miliardi della sua eredità.
Se solo non fosse così stronzo, probabilmente lo aiuterei. Ma lui mi provoca e mi fa credere di tenere a me.
Di amarmi... Non è un gioco e Cody dovrà scegliere: me o i suoi soldi. Non può averci entrambi.

Too old for this story
I love these type of stories normally but this one made me feel old. Wannabe actress gets married in Vegas to Cody and he needs to get married to inherit his dad's money. She doesn't know that though. When she finds out she's all hurt and sad but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Maybe Harlequin Presents have hardened me but I was just thinking lucky girl. Call me cra.zy. I love the whole audition scene too. That was creative. I have never read this author before but this one was good enough I will try another by her. Sometimes the sex is a little crude and I don't like that but it's what the New Adult novels always seem to have. Just a little yukky to me. I want sensual soft romance. Not over the top stuff. Just an okay read but not bad. Safe and free in KU

This was a good read. Alexis and Cody run into each other in Vegas. While spending time together they get drunk and end up married. They decide to try and make it work. However, he is keeping something from her. Thankfully in the end it all works out for them.

Hot. Sexy. All around great romantic read!!
Sarah J. Brooks never disappoints when reading her books. I loved this book so much! Their relationship starts pretty unexpectedly. Their history plays a part in their story, and circumstances surround their relationship. When the truth comes out, lots of feelings are hurt. They get their HEA, but it comes after much heartache.
I was personally very invested in this story. I loved the characters and storyline. I felt connected to the characters and my heart hurt for Alexis. Great read and well written!!

First off, I don't understand why the cover has a blonde woman on it when the main character's a redhead (cover mis-characterization is a pet peeve of mine) Also, the blurb makes it seem like she knows about the money way before she actually does. In any case, it was an okay story, just I couldn't relate to the characters or care about them and the goals they wanted to achieve. And the ending was weak. There seemed to be hints of secondary characters getting their own books; I don't think I will read them.

Cody is in Vegas for a fight with his friends. Alexis is also in Vegas for a bachelorette party. When they run into each other in Vegas its like the years haven't happened and sparks fly between them. A Drunken night changes everything for the both of them. Alexis wakes with a ring on her finger and worries about her career and all the legalities her marriage will cause. Cody knows what he wants and its Alexis and his inheritance. However he never comes clean behind his motives not to annul their marriage. What will happen when his secrets are exposed to Alexis? Will she forgive him?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

Avete presente il detto "Quello che succede a Las Vegas rimane a Las Vegas"?
Alexis la protagonista di questa storia vorrebbe proprio metterlo in atto.... ma
Cody non è dello stesso parere.... adesso voi vi starete chiedendo il perché giusto?
Bene allora cercherò di raccontarvelo per quanto mi sia possibile.......
Alexis ha da sempre il sogno di diventare un attrice, di sfondare nel mondo dello spettacolo e per mantenersi, mentre cerca di realizzarlo, lavora come segretaria e quello che fa, le piace anche.
Sembra che finalmente stia per realizzare finalmente il suo sogno..... infatti dopo vari ruoli secondari e alcuni spot pubblicitari è stata presa per partecipare al Reality show "Single in La La Land". L'aiuta anche il fatto che la sua vita sentimentale sia un disastro, tutte le persone intorno a lei vivono d'amore e sembrano aver trovato l'anima gemella mentre Alexis non riesce neanche ad avere uno straccio di appuntamento.
Ma durante un breve viaggio a Las Vegas, per partecipare all'addio al nubilato di Pamela, una collega neanche troppo simpatica, tutti i suoi piani stanno per essere stravolti!
Cody Gleason è un imprenditore, e dopo aver venduto la sua catena di alberghi è pronto per realizzare il suo nuovo progetto, la sua nuova avventura, una nuova catena che si pubblicizza da sola..... ma per farlo ha bisogno di un finanziamento che nessuno sembra volergli concedere.
Cody potrebbe accedere però all'eredità lasciatagli dal padre, un bel gruzzoletto, peccato che la clausola testamentaria preveda che Cody convoli a nozze e che rimanga sposato almeno cinque anni. Lui però non è come le sue sorelle, che sembra abbiano trovato in quattro e quattro otto l'anima gemella. Per lui il matrimonio non è un contratto d'affari, ma un impegno ed un felice e per sempre!
Anche Cody ha in previsione un breve soggiorno a Las Vegas con i suoi amici Henry e Todd, per assistere ad un combattimento di boxe.....

Ma svegliarsi la mattina dopo l'uno nelle braccia dell'altro prendendo consapevolezza di essere marito e moglie non è proprio quello che Alexis si aspettava.
Lei pensa all'annullamento e lui ad un modo per tenerla nella sua vita.
Lei cerca una soluzione per poter partecipare ancora allo show, lui pensa a trasferirsi a Los Angeles per starle più vicino, per conoscerla e farsi conoscere e per far funzionare al meglio la cosa.
Ma Alexis non sa del testamento e della possibilità di Cody di entrare in possesso della sua eredità. E più il tempo passa e più è difficile per lui rivelarle la verità.....
"Alexis era stata una sorpresa. Era il tipo di donna che avrei desiderato ma che non avrei mai immaginato di poter incontrare. Una donna in grado di rendermi sempre felice e di creare una connessione con me a un livello che andava oltre ciò che reputavo possibile."
Cari amici lettori se pensate che vi abbia raccontato troppo, vi sbagliate di grosso, perchè questa è solo una piccola parte di questa storia!
Di certo per scoprire come va a finire non vi resta che leggere questo libro, che vale davvero la vostra attenzione.
Quella che questa autrice, che personalmente ho scoperto grazie a Butterfly Edizioni, ci racconta è una storia dolce, passionale, una storia di voglia di arrivare, di perseguire i propri obbiettivi anche a costo di lasciarsi sfuggire l'amore quello vero, che a volte pur avendolo davanti non si riesce a riconoscere.
La scrittura è fluida, scorrevole e coinvolgente grazie anche ad una traduzione accurata. I capitoli sono scritti a pov alternati grazie ai quali personalmente sono riuscita ad entrare in perfetta sintonia con i protagonisti di questa storia. Le descrizioni sono dettagliate, le scene passionali ben dosate, i personaggi secondari ben caratterizzati e questo mi lascia ben sperare di leggere anche le loro storie.....
Insomma un libro che non posso che consigliarvi di leggere....

DNF
This was my first book and with out a doubt my last by this author. She and this book obviously have enthusiastic fans as proven by the many 4 and 5 star reviews on Goodreads. Personally I didn't care for her writing voice. To me it sounded plodding and methodical, like someone reading off an itinerary or list of things to do. Then there's our heroine Alexis who isn't supposed to realize how beautiful she is one moment and then in the next says she normally dates guys who are below her league so that she can feel in control. You know because even though she doesn't know how good looking she is, she knows these guys should just be grateful that she gives them the time of day. And apparently looks trump personality or character in her book. Can you say SHALLOW? Then there's our hero Cody. He doesn't want to tell Alexis that a good part of the reason he wants to remain married to her after their drunken nuptials in Vegas by an Elvis impersonator is because it gives him access to his billion dollar inheritance to get his new business going. That's admirable. But since he's so good looking maybe Alexis shouldn't mind? And then you've got to ask yourself, if Alexis is BFFs with Cody's younger sister Missy, how does she not know about the marriage stipulation in their father's will that applies to all of his children inheriting his money? I mean after 4 years of being college roommates and continuing to be best friends after college, the fact that once she marries she'll come into a fortune never came up? Then there's Cody's two idiot best friends Todd and Henry. I thought only the male characters on sitcoms were this immature.
Well, like I said a lot of readers seemed to love this book so don't just go by my opinion because it's just that, one opinion.

Una notte a Las Vegas può cambiare tutto...
LA STORIA
Quanto romanticismo c’è nella storia? Non molto. La storia d'amore tra i protagonisti non si avverte per niente e quei pochi attimi di romanticismo non sono credibili o comunque non ti fanno emozionare insieme ai personaggi.
Quanto è spicy la storia? Molto per le pagine totali. La trama in sé è povera di eventi importanti ma in compenso c'è una percentuale cospicua di scene spicy (anche abbastanza "cringe") che va ad allungare il tutto.
Qualche lacrimuccia può scappare? Direi proprio di no.
Riesce a scapparti qualche risata? Forse all'inizio, dato che i primi 2/3 capitoli sono migliori. E ciò solo grazie ai due amici di Cody, il protagonista.
Com’era il finale? Prevedibile. Giusto per la storia? Sbagliato? Non so, non avendo apprezzato a pieno le vicende narrate, il finale non mi ha fatto né caldo né freddo.
Originalità della trama: un matrimonio improvvisato a Las Vegas dopo una notte di bevute. Diciamo che l'originalità non si sente né in questo né negli altri dettagli della storia.
Personaggio preferito: probabilmente gli amici dei protagonisti.
Personaggio meno preferito: nessuno in particolare.
Citazione preferita: non ho trovato nessuna frase rilevante.

1. se vi piacciono le storie brevi e poco impegnative
2. se apprezzate le storie ambientate a Las Vegas
3. per divertirvi insieme ai protagonisti e ai loro amici

2. potreste voler diventare degli attori
3. inizierete a pensare che sposarsi con un mezzo sconosciuto non sia poi così una cattiva idea

a chi cerca una lettura leggera e senza troppe pretese.
STILE E FORMA
Stile di scrittura: non so se il problema sia di traduzione o meno, ma in ogni caso, oltre a questi possibili errori, si nota una scrittura poco matura. Indo dump, ripetizioni a non finire, spiegazioni inutili e dettagli irrilevanti hanno fatto arrivare a 238 pagine un libro che di trama ne contiene sì e no 50. Probabilmente in originale è mancata anche una fase di editing, perché questi errori sono comuni negli scrittori alle prime armi e sarebbero potuti essere evitati con un buon lavoro di revisione. Peccato.
Copertina: non amo le copertine con modelli/prestavolti ma questa, per le vibes della storia, è anche azzeccata.
Grafiche interne: non ci sono grafiche interne.
Refusi: verso gli ultimi capitoli ce ne sono molti, ma più che refusi in generale sembra che non ci sia stata una revisione/adattamento dopo la traduzione.
Lunghezza libro: poche pagine ma paradossalmente troppe dato che sono tutte ripetizioni e di eventi importanti ce ne sono pochissimi.

Cody has a problem. He can't get funding for his hotel. Unless he can access his inheritance, all the work he has put into his new business venture will go to waste. The problem is Cody does not want to get access the way his father planned.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the romance between Cody and Alexis. Cody is a businessman who wants to build a chain of hotels, but the bank he uses for financing tells him he needs more investors. Cody could use his own money if he claims his inheritance his father left him, but in order to claim it, he has to get married and stay married for five years. Cody doesn't want to get married for the money, he wants to marry for love. Alexis is going to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party and runs into Cody. Alexis and Cody's sister Missy are friends and Alexis knew Cody from college. They party together and agree to meet the next night. The next night, Cody and Alexis go out alone and have a great time. After a lot of drinking and flirting, they get married. The next day, Alexis can't really remember their wedding, but Cody is happy and thinks they should stay married. Alexis wanted to get an annulment because she is about to star in a reality show about dating in LA. Cody asks her to give him a chance and said he would go to LA to date her to prove they should be together. Cody wants to stay married and not only for the money. The longer they stay married, the closer they get and Cody knows he has to tell Alexis about the money before it is too late and he loses her. i really enjoyed this story. I liked Cody and thought he really loved Alexis and wanted to be with her, only he was scared to tell her about the money. I think Alexis wanted to be with Cody, but was scared to trust him. Another good one from Sarah.

Does what happen in Vegas stay in Vegas? Mrs. Brooks, your genius is showing again. Oh wow. Sarah's latest publication, My Favorite Mistake, is a powerful read that will get you right in the heart.
I promise you that there is a terrifically crafted storyline and the engaging characters will melt your heart. Cody and Alexis (favorite character), honestly have exquisite banter, wonderful humor as well as an incredible happily ever after. The issue is getting there. This accidental marriage is actually the best thing to happen to them... just not right now. Cody needs a bride, for his inheritance, and Alexis is who he wants/needs. He is her best friends gorgeous Brother and she can already foresee the issues/drama to come. Too bad Cody has his mind set to stay married. What will his Sister say? Does he care? Will they work it out or split up? Find out right here in this superbly designed book.

I sure liked this book. It starts with getting to know the characters, which isn't something you see in many stories, but it gets you an idea of their motivations. And it really hits in the end. No spoilers, promise.
The sex scenes where very good, hot but also sweet. And once I started it, I couldn't drop it. A good book all around. Love the author as well. Can't wait for what's next.

Alexis has dreams of becoming a movie star and has an upcoming reality show about singles in LA. They meet each other by chance in Vegas and the fireworks ignite. They hadn’t really ever looked at each through the lens they now see each other. They drink too much one night and end up married. Cody has solved his problem, but Alexis’s problems are just beginning. I don’t like how long it took for Alexis to find out about the inheritance. Cody kept putting it off and it he would have even tried harder to broach the subject I think it would have went better than it did. I loved how his friend was willing to help figure out a better way to get into acting and helped pull of the surprise ending for Cody and Alexis. It was a great book, but frustrating at times because of the lack of communication between Cody and Alexis.

This was such a great story. I loved the banter that would happen between Alexis and Cody. Cody and Alexis know each other since she is his sister’s best friend. A chance meeting in Vegas, leads to a spur of the moment wedding. When they first realize they are married, Alexis isn’t sure about staying married, while Cody is ecstatic about it. However, Cody is keeping something big from Alexis. It is unintentional, but he just can’t seem to tell her. During the book you see just how much they care about and love each other. Their chemistry is so off the charts hot and they have a very strong connection that can’t be broken, you hope. This was such a great story with comedy, lies, truths and strong sexual chemistry. The main characters grow in the book and I loved the additional characters that just add to the story. I recommend reading this book, you won’t be sorry.

Cody went to Vegas with his friends to watch the fight and Alexis was there for a bachelorette party. They just happened to run into each other after not seeing each other for years. The only difference this time was they finally acknowledged the chemistry brewing between them. Noah was the voice of reason that tried to convince Cody to come clean with Alexis about his motives for wanting to stay married and he was able to give Alexis the career boost she needed when everything was crumbling around her. When things finally blew up in Cody's face it was fun to see who helped him after telling him what an idiot he was. I laughed at Alexis and Cody's drunken antics in Vegas.

What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas... sometimes it follows you home, or at least thats what happens to Alexis during a Bachelorette weekend getaway. Hooking up with her best friends brother Cody should have just been all fun in sin city, but too many surgery blue drinks and happy hormones later they have a much bigger issue to deal with- at least she does, for Cody, this is the break he's been looking for, plus he likes her! It's about to get messy!

Sarah J. Brooks has done it again in this gripping romantic tale about a blossoming love. What begins in Las Vegas flourishes into something a bit undefined between both Alexis and Cody, the main characters of this heartfelt story. From beginning to the end, Sarah has a way of telling her stories and letting her readers see into her world as her tales unfold and this story is no exception. From the get go, I fell in love with Alexis' witty humor and Cody's romantic charms. Together, their upbeat personalities is more than capable of taking on anything and beating the odds that's stacked against them.

A roller coaster of emotions
My Favorite Mistake by Sarah J. Brooks kept me on the edge of my seat. Well written with urgency and emotional depth, the story of Cody and Alexis has an interesting plot, engaging characters and exciting settings.
I was enamored with these characters and invested in their HEA from their first encounter. The twists and turns their roller coaster ride relationship was captivating and helped the reader connect with them. I especially enjoyed the epilogue as it detailed their HEA.
Overall, a great read I enjoyed a great deal.

Wow, another excellent book from Sarah. My Favorite Mistake is extremely well written, you are drawn into the story and feel you are there. I didn't want this to end, so much more I feel could be put into a second book with the other characters (hopefully Sarah might do this).

A story written in dual POV which gives the reader more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters and brings it closer to the reader. Likeable characters who are well described and develops nicely through the story. A story that is well written and has a nice storyline and plot. It flows well of the pages.
I would have liked the blurb to fit the story more and also the cover but that is only small things that annoyed me.

An accidental marriage story when done well is a true joy, and that’s certainly the case with Alexis and Cody in Sarah J. Brooks’ My Favorite Mistake. It’s a real pleasure following along as these two slowly figure out just how well their chemistry and personalities fit with each other, just how well they actually do belong with each other. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

I just love a good Vegas romance and this one doesn't disappoint! Cody has a problem and is in need of funding for his new hotel adventure. Alexis has just got a new reality TV program. When they meet up in Vegas that is where the chaos begins! They are attracted to each other so much so that they end up married. Cody realizes his money problems are over and Alexis is in jeopardy of losing her reality show. How will it end for these two. The story grabs your attention right from the beginning and you have to love are two main characters and the drama surrounding them. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This was another great book by this author! I laughed, I cried, and everything in between. Alexis and Cody were perfect for each other. However, a best friend/sister, money, an inheritance, and a loss of trust mean it's not an easy road for the couple's relationship. This was an easy reading, well written story that pulled me in. I didn't want to put it down. I would definitely recommend reading this one.
