I am a playwright and small business owner from New Jersey. After working as a script coordinator for a TV procedural, I was encouraged to start writing my own mysteries and discovered that I love cozies.
I have degrees in Theatre and Psychology, and an MFA in "Writing for the Screen + Stage." For hobbies I enjoy reading, playing board games, performing in children's theater, and frolicking with my rescue puppy Phoebe.
Nothing is quite romantic than murder on Valentine’s Day.
Party planner Penelope gets more than she bargained for as she plans a celebration party for the mayor. Cupid is supposed to shoot arrows of love not be found dead in a parking lot but unfortunately the man dressed as Cupid did not get the memo.
Penelope will have to save the day and figure out the killer or it will be the end of her business. Dead bodies are not a good advertising enticement. It is a quaint read.
This is the second book in a cozy mystery series revolving around a party planning company. It pits two coworkers against each other for potentially running the company after the owner dies. There is also some tension between one of these individuals and the former owners son who happens to be a police detective whose stubbornness won't allow him to accept help from an amateur sleuth. The concept is different and the story is well written.
The mayor is planning a big Valentine's Day bash but murder threatens to ruin the mood. Especially since it's Cupid who was murdered!.
Penelope is planning a Valentine's Day celebration for the mayor. Things take a bad turn when a dead man, dressed as Cupid, is found in a nearby parking lot. Concerned that this could reflect poorly on the business, Penelope proceeds to investigate.
I enjoyed spending time with Penelope and the secondary characters. I also enjoyed the Valentine's Day theme. The story was enjoyable and the killer was not one I guessed right away. There was also a recipe included at the end for a dessert parfait that sounded delicious.
Penelope and Isla are planning a town Valentine’s Day party for the mayor when they come across a dead Cupid who was out making deliveries. They have one day to solve the murder before their business is ruined. I enjoyed following Penelope and her friends around, trying to see if I could solve the murder before they did. I didn’t quite make it. This author sure has a way of keeping my attention! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
It'd been a while since I read the first in this series, so I've been meaning to come back to it. The location of the party venue's so perfect being on a pier like that. Now the sleuthing question of the day was who offed Cupid? And what did those little coded notes on his foot mean? I hadn't really guessed whodunit, but that was a good showdown with backup coming when needed. Everyone could enjoy a fun Valentine's party especially the mayor! I'm sure I'll be borrowing the next one on KU soon!
So I was a bit confused when I started. I finished chapter 1 and wasn’t sure I was going to finish. However, I did finish it and it got a lot better. So I would read then next one in the series
Penelope & Friends are planning the biggest Valentine's bash that the city has ever seen. Major problems come up that they must figure out so that the party goes as planned. Cute, fun, original story. Look forward to the next book.
Isla is annoying and Penelope tries too hard. Jared is a dunce but hopefully time will change him. Sam and Stuart are so sweet. The Mayor is over the top and demanding. The plot was good and I didn't see the killer's manipulation.
Loved this book. The characters are great. I am curious to see where things go between Penelope and Jared as well as who Gus will choose go take over the business.
Perfect story line with a surprise ending. Well written with likable characters. Sort, quick read. I would definitely recommend for anyone that likes cozy mysteries.
