Of course, other genres float my boat as well; Sci-Fi, Thrillers, pretty much any Dark Fiction, but Horror is what I call home.
My first novel, Horror in the Woods, was released on in May 2017, and the second, The Demonic, on the the following July hitting multiple best seller lists. Since then, I have authored a number of horror novels that have terrified fans for the past few years.

Wow! The third book was an awesome hell ride into terror!
This book picks up immediately after the first book "Haunted: Perron Manor" as the second book "The Devil's Door" is about the massacre that took place in 1982, so this book "Haunted: Purgatory" comes back full circle to the events that took place in Haunted: Perron Manor.
A small backstory:
Sarah enlists the help of David Ritter and his team of paranormal investigators to help with the haunting of the manor as things took a turn for the worse and Sarah needs the team to do whatever it takes to get rid of the haunting.
Little do they all know that artefacts that lay within a room upstairs in the manor has been having a serious affect on the manor itself and when David decides to bring forth Father Luca Janosch to view the artefacts is when things go from bad to worse. One of the artefacts is an ancient book which needs to be translated to make sure it is not a fake as in order for the Church to get involved they have ordered Father Luca Janosch to do whatever it takes to make sure the book is real. However by attempting that feat, it could very well put all of them in demonic danger to the point of not only surviving demonic physical attacks, but for their souls to survive as well!
What happens to the team? What is the book? Do they translate the book? Does anyone survive the manor? No spoilers here as you will just have to read this story!
This was my second reread of the book and I have decided to reread the whole series as I love this haunted series of books! The creepiness of this story will crawl under your skin and stay there for the whole duration of the book!
This book takes off like a rocket as the haunting slowly escalates in the beginning of the book and then the dreaded feelings of the characters are felt within the pages of this book! Every time something happens I could feel what they were going through as if I had been pulled literally into the story!
Author, Lee Mountford, just has a certain flair of drawing the readers into his world and keeping them there for the duration of the story. This second reread just seemed more amplified with the haunting of the manor as I found myself jumpy while reading the book and so engrossed in the storyline that everything faded into the background around me.
Once I became involved in the storyline - the story just slowly builds up to a crescendo and the author brought me to a heightened level of spookiness as the story starts roaring along like a bullet train on the tracks!
The story is fast paced once the manor lights up with activity which happens almost right away when the paranormal team arrive at the house and from that point on in the story the book just careens along quickly which once again drags me into the "no-sleep zone" and fuels my insomnia as I read the last 50% within a couple of days! Giving this book five " Scary Spooktacular" stars!
Highly Recommend to all horror fans that like your houses/manors/ghosts/demons active!
Probably the weakest for me of the trilogy though I very much liked the ending set up.
This book reunites us with the living characters from the first volume and some of the dead one's as well. 😅
I unfortunately feel that the horror aspects had been done so to speak with this locale and setting. It was somewhat more of the same from the previous two volumes.
I don't necessarily blame this on the author, I think it makes sense to attach certain phenomena to a location and have those things happen just there.
Point being is I'm glad we can wave goodbye to Perron Manor, it served us well and I'm excited to see what other locations the author takes us to as the 'Haunted' series continues.
Following the recent releases of books 5 and 6, I figured it was time to catch up with Lee Mountford's Haunted series at Book 3: Purgatory, having already read his The Demonic trilogy. Following on from book 2 when protagonist Sarah's sister, Chloe, is killed in Perron Manor by a demonic presence, Sarah enlists the help of a team of paranormal investigators to find evidence with which to carry out an exorcism of the place to save her sister's soul. But Perron Manor is not just haunted. It is far more terrifying-potentially one of the seven doors to Hell, and once a series of events occur, Hell and Earth will unite, and Armgeddon ensue if they don't close it in time... Excellent, fast-paced story with plenty of great characters, great twists, and leaves you wanting to jump straight into the next book.
Imp Imbroglio! Possessed Key Drops Ball! "We'll, it was ten seconds to the final siren, and we were way out in front. We had those good guys on the ropes and bleeding all over the floor. And my star player! ... My Star Player!! ... Loses it at the very last second!!! There'll be hell to pay- (points taloned finger at horned minion) Hey You! Don't go snarling at me! I'm not joking! Just watch out! We'll be coming back twice as HARD and twice as EVIL for the next damned round!" - Pazuzu - Door Bitch, Abyssal Layer 463
A totally awesome addition to Lee Mountford's 'Haunted,' series. Loved it from start to finish. And what an ending. I love a great ending, and this book delivered a beauty filled with suspense and a great payoff.
Well I flew from one book to the other in a hurry, so I guess I forgot the detailed review. Oops! This one was really good to me and was a bridge for the whole of the series!
Absolutely loved this book, the descriptions was so detailed I really had to stop myself from cringing. The basement scenes really freaked me out. It was riveting all the way through I really couldn't turn the pages quick enough. Shockingly horrific absolutely loved it. Not many books I read actually draw you in but this author does it with ease and doesn't let go of you till the very last page. Brilliant how this author rounded up the conclusion of this book. Hopefully there will be another book after this one.
Dear Mr. Mountford, PLEASE don't end this Series here. Please take these wonderful characters on the adventures you promise at the end; we loyal readers don't want this to end here!! Plus, we want to know so much more about the land and the former nomadic tribe at the "beginning" of Perron Manor's history [or prehistory] and we won't settle till we know.
I love the entire series, but INSIDE PERRON MANOR; HAUNTED: DEVIL'S DOOR; and HAUNTED: PURGATORY, are my especial favorites! There's so much action, terror, "jump scares," evil entities, the innocent spirits unwittingly captured, then held captive by the House, all the victims of evil over millenia....Yes, the horror is extreme and the tragedy astronomical but Mr. Mountford keeps readers on constant (terrified) tenterhooks.
HAUNTED: Purgatory, is the third book in the Haunted series by Lee Mountford. Taking off where book one left off, we have the owner of Perron Mansion enlisting the aid of a paranormal investigative team, and the church, in hopes of having the house exorcized.
However, this is no ordinary haunted house.
There were parts/descriptions that I absolutely loved here, but I found that the church "chain of command" was just too much for me. Still, I would have gone with four stars with the major action in the ending, if it hadn't been for the "Epilogue" at the very end.
Mountford has grown tremendously as an author and this trilogy has proven it.
The entire Haunted trilogy has been incredibly well written and entertaining...not to mention creepy...which is quite a feat since the haunted house trope is over done and rarely original.
Purgatory wraps up a compelling story and leaves things open for another set of books, which, if Mountford keeps things this way, has the potential to be yet another set of great reads.
Wasn’t expecting the twist, when usually I’ll see it coming a mile off! Such a good writer, I’ve been bingeing his books all lockdown. On to the next one...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Haunted: Purgatory by Lee Mountford Wow. Just… wow. This book had me on the edge of my seat from page one and never let go. Picking up right where Haunted: Perron Manor left off, the tension ramps up instantly and doesn’t stop. The paranormal research team’s return to Perron Manor is everything I hoped for—dark, chilling, and absolutely relentless. Lee Mountford does a fantastic job of making you feel the weight of the suffering souls trapped inside those walls. The atmosphere is so vivid, I could practically hear the whispers in the dark and feel the chill seep off the pages. The stakes are higher than ever, and the team quickly realizes they’re up against something far more terrifying than they expected. I loved the blend of supernatural horror with real emotional depth—it’s not just about scares, it’s about the consequences, the truths that unravel, and the fight not only for survival but for the souls of the dead. And just when you think you have a handle on the story, Mountford drops revelations that shake everything up. The pacing, the scares, and the storytelling are all top-tier. This is a gripping, haunting, and unforgettable continuation of the Perron Manor saga. And that ending… let’s just say, it leaves you hungry for what’s coming next. If you love intelligent horror with real bite, Haunted: Purgatory is a must-read.
I am so engrossed in this series! I'm not usual one for book series, preferring stand alone novels and novellas, but this series has me gripped. If you like haunted house horror, demonic entities and possessions. Give this series a go!
This was, by far, the best book in the series so far. Without a doubt. Going forward, since this is the third book in the series, it will be impossible to stray away from spoilers regarding the older books. Fair warning on that.
Sarah, who is a main character in the first book, Perron Manor, feels tremendous guilt over her sister Chloe's death. Chloe was grabbed by what we think is a demon and her neck was completely twisted in front of Sarah's eyes. While leaving the manor in the first book, she looked back into one of the windows and saw Chloe mouth "help me". She had to return to try and save her sister's tormented soul.
An expert in paranormal investigations, David always had an interest in the house. He had been in contact with Chloe and Sarah before in order to attempt to convince them to allow him to investigate the house further after this investigation in 2014, but the sisters had refused. Now, things are different. Sarah contacts David to get him and his team together to start an investigation - one they are equally worried and excited about.
Things happen a whole lot more in this book than in the other two books combined which I find to be a plus. The pacing was still optimal. The character's fears, hopes, and dreams are further brought into the spotlight here, allowing you to connect with them as well or even better than the characters in the previous books.
The horror elements are on point. The information divulged in this book had been great as well, as we learn more about the book locked away in that third-story study and the rituals it contains. I stayed up for a bit too long, over 36 hours, to try and finish the previous book and this book in one go with endless distractions, and of course my mental state had not been the best during the end of the attempt, but holy shit I could not stop looking around my house and feeling my heart jolt at random sounds. This shit is legitimately scary and I can't wait to start the next book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ A terrifying masterpiece with a side of “Sarah, what the hell?!”
Haunted: Purgatory was nothing short of fantastic—the kind of book that grabs you by the spine and doesn’t let go until it’s wrung every drop of fear out of you. I went in with pity for Sarah, heart aching over her losing her sister… and came out wanting to leap into the pages, slap her across the face, and yell, “STOP PUTTING EVERYONE’S LIFE IN DANGER!”
Her selfishness and stubbornness had me grinding my teeth, and David—bless his poor soul—might as well have been a puppet with Sarah holding the strings. The man just followed along, no questions asked.
But let’s be real—the house was the star once again. Its twisted, suffocating atmosphere wrapped around every scene, making my heart race and my hands sweat. And yes, I made the same mistake as before—reading it at night. Bad idea. Every creak in my house became a warning sign, and every shadow in the corner looked… wrong.
This installment nails that perfect mix of paranormal dread and human stupidity that makes you want to scream and turn the page at the same time. Chilling, frustrating, and addictive.
This one picks up immediately after the ending of Perron Manor. Sarah is desperate to get the house exorcised to try and save Chloe's soul from being trapped in the hell that is the Manor. She goes to David, the paranormal investigator who we meet in Book 1 & everything starts to unravel. There were so many moments I was genuinely creeped out and excited to get to the next chapter and see what was going to happen! Then there were moments when I had to tell myself eventually something will happen. But overall, this was just as good as Perron Manor in my opinion.
My main issue with this was Sarah's attitude. I could not stand her at times. Her pushiness and lack of thinking for a woman who is supposed to be a military trained professional is infuriating. She knows the dangers of the house, she knows Chloe's spirit is stuck and while I 100% understand she wants to help her sister there is also the knowledge that all of them are in huge danger and if they all die not only is her sister stuck there but so are they. The middle-ending I understand her behavior due to the house taking its hold over her, but the first part has ZERO excuse for how irritating and irrational she is.
David is probably one of my favorite characters in this series and I SWEAR nothing better happen to him or I will strike from reading anymore of Lee Mountford's books, I mean it.
Overall I did enjoy this one and am fully ready to dive right back in and see where Sarah, Father, and David wind up next.
I really liked this installment of the Haunted Series. The last 20% of the story as well as the ending was really awesome. Would definitely continue with this series. I would recommend it for Halloween because it's short, fast-paced and full of action.
P.S. - Still not a fan of the audio narration but weirdly I've become habituated with listening to it after 3 whole books.
While the writing isn't particularly fantastical the story is great. This 3rd book takes place immediately after the first in present day while the 2nd explored the happenings in the house in 1982. The history of the house and the characters. learning about the different entities and how they got to the house was very interesting. Apparently there are 6 more books to continue the mystery of this house and it's extreme paranormal activities.
Probably the best one of the series as absolutely everyone is released about the house, who is who, and the twisted faces of the dead. Definitely read in order as there is so much to be digested and missed if you don’t.
This was an unexpected ‘next chapter’ in the Haunted series, but well done by Mountford. I’m skeptical to how the rest of the series will turn out, as it’s seeming to become very Dan Brown-esqe, but I enjoyed reading those and no reason to doubt Mountford’s skill for storytelling.
I've enjoyed reading the Haunted series. Although I liked the third nook, I found the first half a bit slow and it was only towards the end that it really picked up.
This by far was one I couldn’t read in middle of night.. maybe first to bring me to tears in a certain emotional part..Either way I’d volunteer to be on the next roster
3.5 stars. This was a story builder book and it was good at doing that. I'm fully invested in the story now, but as a stand alone, it wasn't my favourite.
