Falling for the Stars #4

Arrogant Officer: Falling for an Aries

Rate this book
Voted as one of the TOP 10 books for 2021 by Maryse's Book Blog!

It all started when I got an email.

Let me rephrase. A sextortion email from someone claiming they tapped into my computer and recorded me while watching an adult graphic video. If I don’t send them money, they’ll show everyone in my contact list.

As a chemistry teacher at a private school, I panicked. Not only do I love my job, I need it. Desperate and afraid, I run to the police station and ask an officer for help.

A very gorgeous, very arrogant officer, Dax Harder.

Dax is a mixture of a fearless warrior and an undisciplined child. After he proves to me that it’s a spam email and they didn’t actually hack in to my computer, he uses the incident to tease me. I leave the police station in a huff hoping to never see Dax again.

Fate has other ideas.

Everywhere I go, I run into Officer Harder. Our tension turns into more and soon we’re embarking on a fiery and bold romance. The more time I spend with him, I learn there’s a dark past that lingers behind the eyes of the closely guarded cop.

And whatever it is, it’s enough for him to push me away.

The meet-cute in this story...omg, awkward and hilarious and adorable and I absolutely loved it!

The arrogant hero, Dax, is a police officer and was so effing alpha and sexy and easy to love.

He can be charming and make you blush. He can be protective and stern and make you comply. And he can also be a big coward and push you away and make you very frustrated and angry.

And his family, mainly the sisters... so nosy and pains in his ass, but my goodness, they were so cute and full of love and put big smiles on my face. I adored them immediately.

Bree is a high school chemistry teacher. She’s an adorkable science geek who’s beautiful and independent and...perhaps a bit gullible, because porn email scam.

I loved Dax & Bree together! You could feel their chemistry and you couldn’t help but route for them. Their connection, the banter, the sparks! They were SO perfect and cute!

Not only was there plenty of humor in this story, but it was full of all the heart-squeezing feels.

From the lovable main characters to the porn email scam to the overbearing sisters to Bree’s kickass best friend, Rebecca...I loved everything about this.

If you’ve read and loved the other books in the Zodiac series, you’ll want to read this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow’s latest read, Arrogant Officer is a fast paced love story with cute characters, laughable moments, sorrow, and healing.

Fearful of being a victim of a scam, Bree seeks assistance at her local police station from the handsome officer, Dax Harder. Though they start off rocky, their attraction is undeniable. So when fate keeps placing them in each other's paths, making it impossible to resist their feelings, their relationship quickly blossoms. However, although things appear to be perfect they soon realize that things are not so rosy. A past tragedy may be laying claim to their future, and they must decide whether their love is worth fighting for.

Enjoyable characters, however personally wished the hero and heroine had greater chemistry. With that being said it was a cute read.

Many thanks to Jeannine Colette , Lauren Runow & WordSmithPublicity for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

CALLING OFFICER HOT PANTS!

“Bree.”
“You’re bad luck, cheese.”

Officer Hot Pants – I’d like to report this hysterical rom-com as a 5-alarm riot!
The story started out fresh and chuckleworthy, followed by steamy and sultry exchanges, and sex scenes that left me nodding in approval with a fair amount of face fanning, but it’s not all fun and games. The hero isn’t showing all his cards. There’s a downside to his impulsive personality that was a surprise and made him accountable for his behavior, even if the heroine was more accommodating than the hero deserved. Yes, I loved his nickname “Officer Hot Pants” which definitely suited him, and he had some rather choice ones of his own for the heroine. The joking around and teasing were light and entertaining, and definitely set the initial mood. And then there was all that sidesplitting humor from the heroine’s funny and insightful, no-filter bestie.

The funfest start of Arrogant Officer offers an Aires as the next romantic MC in the Zodiac series. Aires is a fire sign, and this guy is totally on fire. He’s a mixed Brit/Persian hottie and a tall drink of muscled yum, which sure makes overlooking his flaws alot easier! He was funny, sweet, sexy (and a tool) all in one. The quirky sweet romance was heartwarming and pretty smexy with an added scoop of good friends and family vibes.

The MCs are quite the mismatch with names tailor-made for puns. Bree Pechman (no cheese jokes to her face, please) is a high school teacher at a snooty private school, and an introverted homebody with some cute idiosyncrasies. Officer Dax Harder (mmm hmm, I know what you’re thinking and you’d be right) is an extroverted beat cop who doubles as a knight in shining armor on and off the job, has a brood of doting sisters he protects, and is a spur of the moment outdoorsy fun guy. Oil and water. The problem is that Dax is a mix of fearless warrior and undisciplined child with a Jekyll & Hyde flipside.

How they meet is priceless over a police report of internet porn extortion, and Dax gets off on the wrong foot by making jokes about it. Several funny run-ins later, they end up dating and getting frisky. There were insecurities on both sides, misleading actions, and miscommunication that required serious damage control. But, my only issue was the aftermath and resolution of a serious incident, but the ending was totally romantic. Even jerks, especially heroic ones, deserve a second chance!

The laughs and drama are real in this dishy rom-com. Dax gets some slack for having more serious issues and obstacles to overcome than the previous Zodiac heroes. Romance is more than just the good times. The lovers'resolution warmed the heart, and I have a real soft spot for this author duo.

2.5- 3 Dax and Bree Stars

Lots of great reviews for this book and it got off to a strong start but somewhere in the middle it started to drag a bit for me.

Dax is a hot Police officer and Bree is a chemistry teacher. Their initial interaction was very funny and I liked their conversation but ultimately I wasn't so keen on Dax. He pushes Bree away and I didn't like how he did that or how he spoke to her after. I found myself skimming parts and this is not a book I would read again.

HEA? Yes - this was well done.
Cheating? No

“Do you trust me?”
“With my life.”

We do love a man in uniform and when they come as hot as Dax Harder, even more so. We’ve had this book on our kindles a long while and we could kick ourselves that we hadn’t picked it up earlier. However, we do love finding hidden gems on our kindles. And that’s exactly what we found here. Our reading mood fancied an easy-to-read romance with a bit of angst, humour, heat, and passion. The Arrogant Officer turned out to have it all. We highly recommend this rom-com, which turned out to be so much more than just that! With fabulous chemistry, funny banter, heart-breaking as well as explosive moments, The Arrogant Officer covered all bases. We fell in love with not only Bree and Dax but the entire cast and crew. Every character counted and it made for such a great read, by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow!

‘I don’t know what just happened between us, but I do know that I’m absolutely ruined for any other man for the rest of my life.’

The way in which Bree meets Dax made us laugh out loud, from having had one of those sex-tortion emails ourselves we have to admit we deleted them from our inbox straight away rather than storm down to the police station in our nighties. But if we’d be seen to by a gorgeous Dax, we’d be straight down there too…*pun intended*. This first meeting started a romantic journey that immediately hooked us along for the ride. The connection between the two of them was palpable as well as believable, and it was absolutely hilarious at times. It didn’t come without its drama and high emotion though, this is due to Dax having a steel shield that gets put up anytime he’s reminded that there are some things, he just cannot control, which is second nature to him. His childhood is marred by tragedy from which Dax still carries open scars that just won’t heal. Well, we all know that love can be the best healer, and the wonderful and level-headed Bree shows him just that. The Arrogant Officer had real heart, with poignant moments of family, loyalty, friendship, and love. It made us laugh out loud one minute, our hearts hurting the next. And the heat…. scorching! This is definitely a book to add to your reading lists!

I am loving the collaboration between these two authors!
This is Bree and Dax's story.
Our lovely Bree finds herself in quite the pickle when she receives and extortion email. She may have watched a bit of porn on her laptop and now someone wants money to keep it quiet. Bree is a sweet funny chemistry teacher at a private school and this would not go over well it this bit of info was leaked. She now grabs the laptop and finds herself at the local police station.
Dax Harder is a smart, funny private man that loves his job as a police officer. So when a sweet little sassy teacher comes in and needs his help he can't help but poke some fun at the situation. She may seem lady like on the outside but she soon is giving him a run for his money and telling him off the first chance she gets! He may be a figure of authority but he soon finds he likes the banter they share! Bree and Dax soon find themselves running into one another and wondering is it fate or planned!?
This couple had had sexy sizzling banter that was laugh out loud funny. Their conversations were right out of the gate entertaining and fun. We also had some wonderful heartwarming moments with this couple and I loved watching them navigate this new relationship. I also loved the wonderful cast of characters especially Dax's over involved sisters!! Well Done ladies !!!

If you are looking for an entertaining, funny yet heartfelt read look no further than Arrogant Officer.
This is the lastest instalment in the Zodiac Series and this is Bree Pechman and Dax Harder’s story and yes you read that right Officer Dax Harder will make you smile from the moment to you met him.
Bree believes she is being blackmailed and heads to her local police station only to find out it’s a scam but not before admitting to Officer Harder that she has been watching porn.....
What follows is a series of mishaps where she keeps bumping into the Officer with the name that conjures up all sorts of naughty thoughts. This story had me laughing and giggling as I got to know Bree and Dax, this book ticked all my boxes, the chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty but it’s the writing that took this book to another level because this is a story about trust, love, fear, loss and faith and it’s beautifully written, so I guess all that’s left today is I highly recommend you one click this gem of a read, it won’t disappoint you.

5* Sexy Arrogant Dax Stars

Arrogant Officer is the latest book in the Zodiac Series, and whilst I have enjoyed everyone so far, this book was seriously the best, maybe because it was also about a hunky Ariean!

The story begins with Bree being blackmailed by a computer hacker who has filmed her watching porn! Her automatic reaction is to report this to the local police because she cannot afford to be fired from her teaching job at the prestigious private school she works at. What she did not expect was to be helped by the very gorgeous and sexy Dax Harder. After making sure to take a good look at what Bree was watching he assures her that this is a scam, and her computer has not been hacked. When a very embarrassed Bree leaves, she hopes to never come into contact with him again even if he was everything she was looking for in a man.

Low and behold their paths keep crossing and their attraction towards each other is growing so they decide to go on a date. Before they know it, a romance is blossoming between them and their chemistry is undeniable. When Dax realises this, he begins to question his feelings and whether he is worthy of love.

There were some hilarious moments to the story but also some sad and emotional angst. The secondary characters were so likeable and the banter between them hilarious, they were also so pivotal to the success of Dax and Bree’s relationship.

I loved Dax and Bree’s story and it is a wonderful addition to the series which are all standalone reads.

OMFG!!!! I read this book in four hours. Nothing got cleaned, cooked, or even done at all. Apart from the loo, I stayed in bed, life went to the dogs, and I went with Officer Dax Harder 😍

Talk about grabbing you by the proverbials right from the start. This book was fast paced, full of all the feels. If you’re anything like me have your tissues at the ready, because if you’re not crying at emotional moments, you’re crying with laughter.

Fantastic secondary characters that just scream waving their hands in the air to write about them next

I think I love Bree. She has her pair of big girls boots strapped well and firmly on. A female lead that has strength, sass, warmth and is no simpering fool. Yes please every single time

Officer Dariush Harder!!! Complex character that screams new book boyfriend from the first couple of chapters. Family oriented, hard exterior and just downright lickable all over.

My one moan, it ended too soon. I need more of Dax and Bree now!!! Hopefully we can see more of them if those other characters get their own stories. I definitely need more of this world.

I absolutely loved this read from the very beginning with the quirky chemistry teacher and Office Hot Pants. The opening was hilarious and immediately gripped me due to the hilariousness of this. The story progresses and there is a great amount of humor with the build up and then boom goes my heart. I think the authors did such a great job stringing the reader along with some yummy steam and then bam cue the waterworks.

There was so much I loved about this book between the main characters, the supporting characters, Dax's family, her humor and so much more! Highly recommend

"Funny, Sweet, Romantic, Swoony with all the other feels built in.

I loved watching Bree and Dax fall in love. Bree is sassy and independent and Dax is overprotective but they work. Dax's family is great, I want to party with them. This story isn't all light and breezy and there are some deep heartbreaking moments. This is a couple that was destined to be. This story has it all and I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. "

Dax Harder, seriously could an officer's name be any more sexy? Within the first chapter Bree had me relating to her and when you factor in the interaction between both her and Dax I was giggling right away. This story pulled me in and I couldn't put my kindle down. These two authors work amazing together and know how to keep a reader intrigued throughout the story with bringing their characters to life as well as their secondary characters too. Dax's sisters are a group of women I would like to know as well as Rebecca. There was a time where I found myself wondering why the title was chosen because I just didn't have the same views and then IT happened and the "ah-ha" moment lingered for a bit. This story had me all over the place with emotions, I went from laughing to anger and then broke out into tears only to be brought back round to smiling again. I have read each of the Zodiac books released to date and I cannot get enough of them. Each story is a standalone and introduces us to brand new characters. I am continuously excited to see what these authors have for us next. If you don't bump this book to the top of your TBR list you are missing out on a great, must read story.

Dax and Bree’s story is fun, flirty and oh so sexy with a few unexpectedly poignant moments just to keep it interesting. Their first meeting leaves him grinning and her stomping off in a snit. When they keep crossing paths, Bree thinks fate is out to get her until he rescues her drunken self from a guy who doesn’t like the word no. When her bestie basically forces a thank you for the rescue dinner between them, Bree is both shocked and secretly thrilled. She hasn’t been able to get the hot, sexy and oh so arrogant officer out of her mind or her fantasies since they met. Off duty, she sees a different side of him. He has a softer protective and generous side that is on display while he coaches basketball with young at risk teens. Dax discovers the fiery and beautiful teacher he loves to tease is very dedicated to her students and is fiercely independent. When things between them turn passionate and very intimate, they both discover they connect on more than a physical level. They have both suffered losses in life, though his have left him with a massive burden of guilt and commitment issues. It is those issues and his fear of being vulnerable that lead him to push Bree away. Bree tries her best to get him to see himself as she sees him, to fight for their relationship, but he keeps her at bay. What will it take to shake him out of his self-imposed emotional prison? How do they find their way to a happily ever after?

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Funny, heartfelt, super steamy, and very well written. Arrogant Officer is a cover to cover read in one sitting!

The first meet cute between Bree and Dax is snort-worthy cute. The second encounter between the hot officer and brainy teacher is giggly funny and a bit steamy. They continue to run into each other and each meeting is down right adorable which only seems to up their chemical attraction to one another. Finally deciding to take fate out of the equation, they go on a date and yes, they do have all the right components to make a hot fire...whew, these two are extra steamy.

What I loved even more than their sensual moments (gah, I can't believe I even said that sentence) is their time spent with Dax's family. He has four sisters and a very loving mother, plus a large extended family and it's something that Bree has never been a part of. He is close and protective of his family and every moment on the page with them is pure gold.

Dax feels the need to protect the entire world around him and spending time with Dax will open eyes to see a side of an officer's job that perhaps many people won't necessarily think about. I loved that aspect about this book.

Bree's life teaching at an expensive prep school isn't all it's cracked up to be. Rich kids are just as zoned out as any other kid and teaching any child is one of the hardest jobs out there no matter what age that student is. I love that both Bree and Dax are in service jobs and have a love of giving back deeply ingrained in their blood.

This whole book is amazingly written and full of so much heart, it's crazy that this series just gets better and better, but Arrogant Officer is just that good and I highly recommend it.

Dax Harder is a police officer who happens to be in the precinct when Bree Pechman appears with her computer under one arm with a blackmail story. He has to verify her story, and discovers what she was watching before she got the blackmail message. Bree is mortified, because she had been watching porn, and now the entire precinct is aware of it. Shortly thereafter, he stops her for speeding, and gets her full name and address at that time. Needless to say, things begin to progress, and they share a pretty strong connection. Bree works as a chemistry teacher at a private school, and Dax is intrigued by her independence. Things go really well for them, until something happens that throws everything off-kilter.

Parts of this story may make readers laugh, while other parts may cause tears. It’s a well-written story about fear, loss, family, trust, and faith. The protagonists are a protective cop and a smart and independent teacher. There is family and friend interference in spades, diametrically opposite groups of teenagers thrown in for good measure, and a family tragedy in the background that unites Dax and his sisters and his mom. The scene where one of Dax’s sisters enters his home to walk the dog, is a gut-buster! Plan to drop everything once you start this book, as it is nearly impossible to put down! The book is paced perfectly, and the progression of the events in story keeps it moving forward with the right amount of tension. The ending is unexpectedly delightful, and should bring a smile to most reader’s faces.

Arrogant Officer: A RomCom Standalone by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow. Another good read from these two authors. The zodiac sign of our main character is Aries. Dax is a officer of the law. When Bree enters the police station thinking she is being blackmailed the shenanigans begin Bree and Dax. This story had me laughing until I was in tears. My emotions were all over the place with story. The characters in this story were a hoot and others were a pain in the butt. A story that had me up and down. I truly enjoyed Bree and Dax's journey to their HEA. The journey wasn't the smoothest and it had its moments which made for an enjoyable read. Was left with a smile on my face and wanting more. I wanted more of Dax's  family. They were hilarious. Each sister needs their own book. Each has a story to tell and with the family history it will definitely make for really good stories. More of Bree and Dax would not hurt either. NI am always excited to read anything these two authors put out. Definitely have not been disappointed yet and I am truly looking forward to the next zodiac sign book. Each book is a standalone. If you haven't read the previous books by all means do so. You will not be disappointed. 4.5 stars for me.

ARROGANT OFFICER: Falling for an Aries is a Standalone Rom-Com. I know when I read a book by these two ladies: Jeannine Colette & Lauren Runow, it will be an entertaining read. I was hooked from the first page.

Bree Elizabeth Pechman is a Chemistry teacher at a private school. So she is very distraught when she gets a threatening email. The one time she decides to watch porn and someone is claiming they tapped into her computer and recorded her while watching a adult graphic video. She had been really enjoying watching, too. They will show everyone in her contact list the tape if she doesn't send them money. She doesn't have the money, and can't afford to loose her job that she also loves. So the only solution is to pack up her computer and go to the police station.

The officer to come forth to help her is drop-dead gorgeous and she is speechless just looking at him. She gives him the nickname Officer Hot Pants. She pleads with him for help and tells him she can't lose her job over this. He wants to see her evidence, and as embarrassed as she is, she shows him what is on her computer. When she hears snickering from the other officers around them and looks ready to cry. Officer Dax Harder takes pity and explains to her it was just a spam email, that no one actually hacked into her computer. She leaves the police station embarrassed and mad. Hoping to never have to see Officer Dax (Hot Pants) ever again. Fate has other ideas!

The Dynamic Duo strikes again bringing us a funny, warm hearted book starring two fabulous heros. OHP and the wonderful science nerd, Bree, are both a delight in their very different ways. Dax's surname is a comedic score and had me laughing out loud😂😂.One comes from a small, intimate family/friend group while the other has a huge extended family/friendship circle. They have so much in common however, as they both have huge hearts, are brave, immense loyalty and have the instinct to instinct to protect which is a mile wide. They are kind and thoughtful. But Dax, as an example of the Aries of this world, has a stubborn streak, which sees him folding back into himself and causing himself to doubt his own needs.

This book has been the perfect balance of funny, heart, a dash of angst and a completely satisfying HEA. Go Aries! Go Bree and Officer Hot Pants. You are fab 💖💖💖💖💖

I received this book in exchange for a review:

100 stars!
This one calls to me in more than one way but the main one is because I'm an Aries myself... April babies are the best!

The other way is the fact that Dax is a cop and my father in law was a cop for several years before leaving and a very good family friend of ours is a cop. I have so much respect for our men and women in uniform.

Dax is probably my fave of these books so far as he has the hard exterior of a cop, but inside hes such a softie and a big teddy bear 😍

Bree is just adorable as the teacher and trying to get her kids interested in Chemistry... I hated that subject in school but I feel like if I had her as my teacher it may have been different.

I didn't realize it until closer tk the end of thus story, how much alike Dax and Bree are in terms of the losses they suffered when they were younger... so sad and I cried for both of them. But they are perfect for each other... once Officer Stick Up His Ass actually removed said stick, he won me over in how he took care of Bree.

Sooo good!! Thank you Lauren and Jeanine!!

Reading Arrogant Officer was GREAT! I loved the story. I laughed and I cried! What a great read!!! Arrogant Officer is standalone contemporary romance. Officer Dax Harder is the Aries in this romance. I love Dax and his controlling ways. He tries to control all things around him. His sisters, Bree and whatever or whomever else he can control. He thinks that he can save them all from themselves if he controls it. I think the harder Dax Harder tries to control, the less he can control. BTW there is a reason for him trying to control everything and it’s heartbreaking!

I love when these two authors get together to write because whatever they write I love! I would give more than 5 stars if I could!

This is Book 4 in the Falling for the Stars, zodiac-themed standalone romance series, and once again these authors have given me a 5 star story.

I adored Dax and Bree. Their initial meet was adorably awkward. Their second meet was adorably awkward and slightly sexy. The interactions between them were either embarrassing or full of witty banter and a STEAMY underlying physical chemistry. Woooweee, that tension was crazy! I liked how the couple gradually started going out. They were upfront and honest. Dax thought everything about Bree from her intelligence to her quirkiness was sexy. Bree thought Dax's body, mannerisms, and voice was sexy. They were SO hot together. And playful. And sweet. It just felt natural.

Of course there's a bit of drama. I think it was handled well. It was emotional and so realistic. I think that's why it didn't hit as hard because it wasn't overdone. The addition of Dax's sisters and Bree's best friend added wonderful depth. And the climax? Intense and so well-written. I totally seal-clapped for that epilogue. I seriously adore this series so far!!!

Each time I have finished one of these books I swear it is the best and they couldn't top but they fooled me again. The story of Dax and Bree was outstanding!
Bree is a sweet, but single chemistry teacher. She and her best friend, Rebecca are enjoying life while looking for Mr Right! One evening, while home alone, it appears that Bree's computer has been hacked and her quiet unassuming life is going to be shared with the world unless a price is met. A price she can not afford. What do you do? Run to the nearest precinct, in your lounge pants and report this travesty!
Dax happens to be on duty when this whirlwind blows into the precinct. She is cute, sweet but oh so sassy. He is intrigued but his is a life of honor, duty and danger. Relationships are not on his calendar.
It seems funny how fate steps in and these two just keep meeting up. It's as if there is a supernatural force pulling them together.
If you are looking for an awesome weekend read, filled with laughter, lust, love and angst, look no farther. Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow sure know how to deliver!

What starts out with a strange and eye opening email leads Bree down a path of finding a spark with Officer Dax. Although stalkerish, Dax seems to show up time and time again making Bree take notice and opening their hearts and their pasts. But can love overcome the tragedy that Dax holds close to his heart? Or will other mishaps keep them apart? With characters that I could instantly see myself in and a storyline that was fast paced but oh so good this was a fabulous read. The combination of Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow never disappoint and always give their readers characters that are real and stories that are entertaining.

Arrogant Officer is the latest book in the zodiac themed series of standalone romances by Lauren Runow and Jeannine Colette and it is incredible!

I loved this book from start to finish.

The main characters, Bree and Dax, had me giggling out loud, crying and wanting to punch something (or rather someone) throughout the entire story. Bree is a quirky high school chemistry teacher who absolutely adores her job. She can’t get enough of science.

She meets Dax by chance one night when she falls for a scam email that has her running to the local police station for help. After that, Dax keeps running into Bree on chance meetings until finally they decide to go on a date.

I love that each of these books showcase the personalities of the star signs that they are written for. Dax showcases the personality of an Aries to a T!

Both Dax and Bree’s character go through some serious development as they work their way through their relationship. There are times when you will need tissues, I’m giving you fair warning!

Seriously though, I can’t recommend this book or series enough! Go get your copy now!
