A wolf shifter and a demon have both claimed me as their mate. I’m sure nothing will go wrong with that.
When you hunt supernatural baddies for a living, you’re used to danger. But for once, the danger I’m facing isn’t my fault.
Somebody killed my best friend and set me up to take the fall. Now, I’ve got two days to prove I’m innocent before it’s open season on hunting me down. If that wasn’t bad enough, I’m partnered with a royal enforcer who isn’t what he seems. Sure, he’s sexy as hell, but he’s the most dangerous supernatural I’ve ever encountered. And I literally get paid to hunt the worst of the worst.
I want justice for my friend and I want my name cleared. But the deeper I go, the more dangerous things get. My friend died protecting something of great value and now her burden falls on me.
If I don’t figure this out, it’s not just my life on the line. It’s the start of a supernatural war.
And I’m right in the middle.
If you like fast paced action, supernatural mystery, a kick ass female protagonist, and sexy as sin male leads grab your copy today!
Alexis Calder writes sassy heroines and sexy heroes with a sprinkle of sarcasm. She lives in the Rockies and drinks far too much coffee and just the right amount of wine.
I've been following Alexis Calder and her writing career for quite some time now. Maybe even from the very beginning. Of course some books are more my thing then others, but always when she announces a new one I feel a flutter of excitement in my chest. I don't even read the synopsis anymore. I just get that ARC and I will enjoy the ride. I did the same with this book and I therefore had no idea what I started.
And this book was an amazing ride from start to finish! The book threw us in the middle of the action from the very beginning and the pace was constantly very high. And yet, it never felt too high, it never went too fast. Even though there was a lot going on and a lot happening, the characters did also get the time to have some meaningful conversations and to get to know new people. Just like we as readers got the time to get to know these characters.
Calder has the amazing talent to introduce us to a new world without needing an info dump to do so. This book is a really good example of it. Due to the nature of the story, a murder case that needs to be solved, our main characters are traveling all over town, which gives us the chance to connect with the werewolves, the vampires and even the humans. Therefore we really get a feel for this world, what's going on and who's important and who isn't.
And along the way we are introduced to some really amazing characters! I of course don't want to give away too much, but one of my favorite species is in this book and I love how it always adds a little extra spice to a story, without it feeling forced or unnatural. And also our main heroine, despite the fact that she was a hunter and had loads of fighting skills, which is usually not my favorite type of heroine, was quite nice to get to know. I love how she also had an emotional side and how she eventually did feel comfortable enough to show it.
I'm really excited to read the rest of this series!
The story is interesting. Skyler is a paranormal bounty hunter. She is half wolf and always thought the other half was human. Now she learns that may not be the case. When she is accused of killing her roommate, she has only a short time to prove her innocence.
Skyker is pretty tough and has more than earned her reputation. I give this a three and a half because it should have been obvious looking at the body that Skyler wasn’t the one who killed her. Also, Elias could have easily alibied her.
This story ends is part of a trilogy so the answers th what is going on is still unknown.

We have suspense, mystery and action. Skylar is a hunter which she learned how to do from her dad. She is half wolf, who is not accepted. She is on her own and living with a friend. She comes home after a hunt that went bad and finds her dead. The enforcers thinks its her and the one person to clear her name won't tell them the truth. She has 48 hours to find the killer will she be able to? Will Elias really help her? What are these feelings for him? What Elias feels for her? Who really is he? When she goes to tell Xander what are the feelings she has for him? Why he offering her his pack? What mystery lies ahead?

Well written, interesting plot (although no real resolution in this first book)… frustratingly lacks steam until the very end of the book. And it was mostly “oh no Elias needs to be healed” than it was a fruition of building heat lol and there was no foreplay *pouts* (you can’t give me an incubus and not do incubus things with him) and they got interrupted before cuddles or discussing them being mates. And of course the boys gotta brawl about it when Xander walks in 🙄
I’m def going to listen to the next one because I want to see where things go, but I hope the spice picks up a bit.

Alexis Calder is a new author to me, but I must admit there are some amazing novels at the moment and this is definitely one of them. Skylar is a supernatural hunter, she takes on the bad guys within the supernatural realm and she is exceptionally good at it. While chasing a vampire who had been a bad boy and was on her list to be taken in, she bumps into Elias who is an Enforcer but seems to have way to much magic for an Enforcer. All she understands is she believes he cannot be trusted. While this adventure is fast paced and full of paranormal and supernatural beings all attempting to kill her or Elias, Skylar finds herself at the centre of a war of dominance for power and she has been made the keeper of a special artifact that Everyone wants to get their hands on Elias and Skylar find themselves tied together until this crazy situation is sorted out, but considering each step she takes seems to be known by those who are trying to find the artifact Skylar realises absolutely no one can be trusted. Someone in a higher position seems to be pulling the strings to stop either her or Elias from finding out the truth about who is creating all the fall guys and preventing the truth from coming to light. Brilliantly constructed with a well rounded and detailed plot ensuring you never know who is the enemy and who is an alli, extremely hard to put down especially when things start to get heated between Elias and Skylar and suddenly another paranormal claims Skylar is his mate. So with everything coming at her from all angles and plenty of emotional confusion, the book closes and I have to wait for book #2. If paranormal is your choice of genre your going to love this.
Shifter Claimed is the first book in the Royal Mates series by Alexis Calder and I loved it. This paranormal menage is told from multiple perspectives, has a badass hybrid, and is centered on a murder.
I loved the characters, all of them are morally gray and powerful. Skylar is a bounty hunter who brings them in more dead than alive. With her mixed heritage she doesn't really fit in anywhere, she has to make a place for herself which isn't easy. Then to add in the fact that she doesn't have all the cool supernatural abilities, it makes her life harder but she has learned strategies and in a fight, she can keep up with the worst of them. I will say one of the best things about her is that she is willing to roll with the punches and analyze things as they come. One thing is for sure some family secrets should be revealed at some point and I can't wait for that bomb to drop.
The other two perspectives are told from Elias who is dark, mysterious, and shady as hell, and Xander an alpha werewolf who is tough as nails and connected to a crazy conspiracy. While Elias's intentions are unclear at best, he seems to develop something with Skylar. He's helpful but I am so curious about his past and what the hell is going on with his family. As for Xander, I didn't really get to know him as much because Elias took up more book time,, I'm hoping he gets his equal share in the next book. What I did get from Xander is that he's a strong alpha of a powerful pack and seems like a good guy but with an edge and has most definitely connected with Skylar in the little time they had together. He seems the protective type, while she is the let's kill everyone type I wonder how that's gonna play in the next book.
As for the plot, it was interesting and kept me guessing. Who is really behind what happened to Lola? What does this item really do and who wants it? So many people are working behind the scenes, not to mention Cain, the jerk from the supernatural enforcers, has it out for Skylar. Which has me questioning if supernatural law enforcement is actually legit. There are so many unknown factors and unknown people that are connected to what Skylar finds herself in the center of. I have no idea where the story is going but I am interested in finding out, I love when a story can keep me guessing.
Shifter Claimed was a great read with interesting characters, a little steam, magic, and is centered on a crazy conspiracy. Not to mention that crazy ending, there is another player in the game and things have gotten a lot more dangerous. If you are looking for a paranormal menage with a badass hybrid and a couple of powerful supernaturals and has a conspiracy to rival them all then Shifter Claimed is it.
Skylar is a paranormal hunter for the Hunter Guild. She is half wolf/half human. When she returns from a hunt, she finds her roommate murdered and is accused of the murder by Enforcer Cain, who seems to overlook obvious reasons why she more than likely did not do this. Dark and dangerous Enforcer Elias could have cleared her but remains silent and used his magic to keep her from talking about what happened, preventing her from defending herself. So now according to Hunter Guild rules, an accused Hunter has 48 hours to prove her innocence. Cain assigns Elias to be with her for the two days while they investigate, but she is sure Elias has some other agenda going. And when he touched her arms to move her away from the door, her arms burned. What was he? He wasn’t a shifter, mage, or vampire. But his magic was different and powerful. But when she persisted, he threatened to wipe her memories – could he really do that? What could he be? Whatever he was, he was far more dangerous than any of the supernaturals she hunted!
She opened the floorboard hidey-hold where they kept their cash and valuables. Lola had left cash in her wooden box, but there was also something in a red bag, a small white stone of some kind. It didn’t look valuable, so she would keep it to remember Lola. But Elias told her to unmute her senses. The stone pulsed in her hand, and now a glowing white sphere floated just above her palm -- it was a moon stone! It went dark as he deactivated it, and said he had no idea there was a moon stone “in your world”. Huh?
Skylar also meets another male, Xander Vega, who turns out to be her BFFs brother and the High Moon Pack Alpha. How will these two males be involved in her life? What was Lola Vega protecting when she was killed? Why was someone after it and willing to torture her? Will Skylar clear herself from the charges in time? Or will this start a supernatural war?
I like the way the characters are portrayed. Skylar is tough and she is coming up against lots of problems. What kind of “help” do these guys offer? And what are they up to behind the scenes? It is clear that this is much bigger than they imagined!
Perfunctory. That is the word that kept coming to mind while reading Shifter Claimed. There wasn't an abundance of profundity in the story to fall into it, which is just a shame. I felt like there was a single note I was following, but there was so much left to see of the story that was kept from me. Shifter Claimed didn't feel to me like it was ready to be published yet.
Skylar is a hunter with the guild. She is a mercenary that brings in lawbreakers that the enforcers don't have time to look for and seize. She's Buffy-esque but without the oneliners, part wolf, part human--all badass. She's trying to do her job when she runs into Elias. A being that, clearly, is more than who he says he is and unwilling to admit to anything.
Elias is on a mission, and it has nothing to do with the (somewhat) sassy half-wolf hunter. But the Enforcer is the only alibi she has to her BFFs murder and will see her innocence proven.
But she also runs up against another male, Xander, her BFFs brother, and Alpha of the High Moon Pack. He's protective and less of a mystery to her. But possessive as hell.
And this is where Shifter Claimed just chokes itself. It gets bogged downed. The anticipation of these relationships and chemistry is so undeveloped that it feels like it gags the story. It's frustrating because you don't know if you are waiting for the kickass throwdown, the kiss, or what, but the page count is counting down, and the cliffhanger is promising to be frustrating. That one-note throughout the story that kept the pitch from hitting a high or low note made the end boring.
It read as unfinished, not as a cliffhanger.
I feel there are much better shifter books out there you could read.

☄️☄️ONE FANTASTIC ADVENTURE☄️☄️ Frying frizbees fred! Alexis unleashes one helluva turbulent, ground shaking, boot-stomping, ass kicking smackdown with this tantalizing rock-my-world rollercoaster, serving up the hard-knocks, cheap-shots and low-blows, catapulting this gem to staggering heights. The raw magnetism, undeniable attraction and scorching chemistry collide with such intensity and ardor, exploding with boundless emotions and infinite affections, uniting them to each other beautifully. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add depth and diversity, transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Fantastic job Alexis, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Things get complicated when they are attacked. Skylar is also finds her attracted to the alpha. Skylar find out things are alot more complicated than they thought, there is so much more to everything that is happening.
This book will grab you from the start to until the end. Skylar is going to learn more about what she is, she will have to rely on others. There book is a rollercoaster ride. I really enjoyed the story, can't wait for the next one.
The blurb of the book described this book to a tee without giving too much away. Just the way that I like it. It drew me in and didn't let go. I was so immersed in the book that I honestly finished it in the matter of a few hours. We get to follow Skylar as she tries her best to find her roommate's killer all while trying not to get killed herself. To make things better, Skylar only has 48 hours to prove that she is innocent before she gets sent to jail. The book is full of action and the plot runs smoothly. Nothing feels forced and it just seems to flow and I LOVED IT!!! This was only the beginning of this series and I can't wait for more! Check out my blog post to see what else I had to say about this book! I'm so excited to read what else lays in store for Skylar!

This book was amazing and I can't wait for the next book to release. Skylar is a bounty hunter and during a regular bounty runs into another being, one who has extremely dangerous magic. Elias is on his own quest... to find the group of people who killed his sister. But running into Skylar is making doing his job a little harder... considering she's his mate. Skylar isn't sure if her attraction to him is dangerous.
When Skylar returned home, she discovers her roommate dead and she's blamed for the murder. She only has a couple of days to clear her name before she's possibly killed. She finds her roommates brother, Xander, to find out leads, and her attraction to him is nearly instantaneous. Xander claims as well that Skylar is his mate.
There is a lot of action and a great story. I literally am dying to see what happens next!!!
Skylar’s having a bad day. From being the hunter to the hunted. She’s interrupted trying to claim her bounty, a bad vampire. Someone with powers she’s never seen before interrupts and she’s almost killed. Because Elias compels her to leave and not talk about what happened, when she gets to her apartment she finds it trashed and her best friend dead. She is the number one suspect and Elias won’t tell what happened and that he’s her alibi. But he agrees to help her find the murderer. But what they find is a very involved plot and many factions are looking for something that was in her best friend’s keeping. Now she and Elias are being hunted and they need any help they can get. Vampires, demons, and even other supernaturals are after them. All for a magic stone. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a book I had a hard time putting down. It captured my fancy from the first page. Vampires, shifters, mages, and more join this conflict. Skylar is half wolf shifter and a paranormal Hunter. Elias is a paranormal Enforcer and Xander is her bff's brother and Alpha of the largest pack around. These three need to work together but it's gonna be hard. Aside from all that Skylar is steady learning how much she doesn't know and she was raised a Hunter by her dad. I am so excited for book two to come out. Definitely a paranormal action adventure with romance mixed in. I requested a free advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I love a secret power story! Skylar was an engaging protagonist with a good combination of badassery and vulnerability. Elias was an interesting counter to her - helpful and unhelpful, though the entire premise hinges on him not backing up her story that she couldn't have killed her roommate. Surely there was a way around that.
The investigators were really lax, unprofessional, inept and rude. Skylar's presence may have looked suspicious with blood all over her, but surely they can tell the difference between shifter blood and vampire blood.
But, despite the weak logic at times, the story moved at a fast pace and was fun and exciting. There were a few twists, and though the story doesn't end in a cliffhanger, there is still plenty more story to uncover and continue.
I really enjoyed this book, it moves fast but it’s written so well with tonnes of detail you honestly just fall into the story. I couldn’t put it down until the very last word. This book is about a women that is 1/2 wolf shifter and she is a hunter of supernatural bad guys. When tragedy hits and her roommate and best friend is murdered she is accused. She then with the help of an enforcer tracks down the murderer. There lots of twists and suspense in this book. It’s got lots of fighting and grit. Overall it’s a great book and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
However, I couldn't seem to connect with any of the characters. The conversations, interactions and transitions came across unnaturally, like a puppet show versus a movie. Skylar wasn't really that bad, but the dialogue and her scenes with the different players were so robotic, stiff, and too boring. I can't even pinpoint exactly what bothered me - I simply felt like their conversations weren't natural or spontaneous, and went on for too long.
Three stars for a decent storyline and plot twists. With smoother transitions and realistic dialogue, this would have earned more stars.
There is no way this can be considered a full length novel. There is a quick overview of how humans and the supernatural coexist but no thorough explanation. Right away we're introduced to the protagonists - FMC and MMC1. There seems to be sun shadiness but the deadline of 48 hours lets you know this is a quick trip. The fact that there is a book 2 makes me think it was an afterthought because the end of this book and abrupt and confusion. This isn't terrible but it's also not good and I would not read it again although I would be interested in this or another author taking the premise and fleshing it out from the beginning.
Overall this was a pretty good read. There was a lot going on and a lot of unanswered questions but this is the first in the series and has created a plot that sets up the next book beautifully. I enjoyed the characters and they all have their own secrets that come to light and I suspect there are more yet to come. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and watching them interact. I enjoyed this work.
I give this a four out of five stars.

I love Alexis Calder’s stories she is such an amazing author and this story Shifter Claimed is another hit this is book 1 in this series and I can’t wait to read more. I loved Skylar’s character she is a supernatural bounty hunter and she is very good at her job but Skylar is set up when she comes home and finds her best friend and roommate murdered now she has 48 hours to prove her innocence. This is a supernatural murder mystery with two super hot guys, I loved this story it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
A great start to a slowburn paranormal reverse harem romance series filled with mystery, intrigue, deception, action, enemies, friendship, romance, twists and a fantastic ending making you want to pick up the next book. Very well written, feisty hot sexy diverse characters with amazingly strong chemistry, electric interactions and a gripping storyline filled with magic, mystery and intrigue. Alexis Calder has done a wonderful job and I cannot wait to find out what comes next in this series.

I thought I was gonna read the same kinda recipe of this kind of book but in all honesty lived the way the story unfolded and the mystery of it all. The relationship develop really nicely not super fast and not slow. I have to appreciate that they know what the want and they are not going back and forth like we see in most book. The H was amazeballs strong, badass and sure of herself even if she had moment of uncertainty.
I’m learning I love this author! This is a fantastic way to start a series!! I love our FMC and I’m honestly not sure what I’m hoping for… I’m usually rooting for monogamy but right now, I don’t know if I’m rooting for Elias, Xander, or both lol! I’m so curious about how this will play out. All I know, is I’m committed and I will be binging this series!! Well done!!
AHHHHH, no! I accidentally read a reverse harem. These are not my cup of tea. I was expecting it to be more like a love triangle (and it kinda plays it out that way in the book). I stuck with it because it wasn't super cheesy or soap opera-y.
All in all not a bad story, some grammatical errors though. Nothing is really concluded or solved, but I probably won't continue because I'm sure the harem will expand into ridiculousness.
Even with a three star rating, I did enjoy this book. You can see an inevitable clash coming from almost the beginning. I love the backstory, the characters are well written. The story read as a vivid adventure, and some questions were sort if answered, but there are a lot more questions by the ending. I do hope there's a logical reason for Skylar being in the dark for her life up to this point.
I initially had high hopes for this novel based on the reviews. Unfortunately, the actuality was very disappointing. The supposed kick ass heroine of the novel did more cursing than incapacitating bad guys. She was always saying how she could handle the situation, but was constantly in over her head and had to be rescued by the male lead be it the werewolf or the demon. The book was very disappointing.
3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ & 1 🌶️. This was a great quick listen. I liked the story and the characters. There was only one spicy scene at the end. I’m intrigued as to how the relationships with the other “species” will develop in the sequel.
The magic system was pretty basic but in that sense it was easy to follow. Their rules follow typical shifter and vampire lore. It was an easy listen for sure and the narrators were decent.
I really liked this book. I think its going to to turn into a very good series. I am looking forward to the next book and can't wait to see what happens next. There is definitely something going on that I can't wait to see play out.
