Simon Maddrell is a poet, editor, educator and wellbeing facilitator. He was born on the Isle of Man and now lives in Brighton & Hove.
Since 2019, over 180 of Simon's poems have appeared in twenty-six anthologies and eighty-five publications including & Change, AMBIT, Acumen, Gutter, Lighthouse, Magma, MODRON, Poetry Wales, Propel, SAND Journal, Southword, Stand, The Gay & Lesbian Review, The Moth, The Rialto and Under the Radar.
Simon has a background in development and conservation in Africa's drylands. He founded Sand Dams Worldwide in 2002 and is a world authority on sand dam technology.
Simon is a queer gay man who lives with HIV and autism.
