Life isn’t all mai tais, coconut cupcakes and the big “O,” but it should be.

I met Wes on a beach in Hawaii. Tall, tan, unruly blond hair and don’t even get me started on that gritty southern accent.

To the locals, he was Wes, “The manta ray whisperer.” To me, he was an infuriating, too young for me surfer dude.

But that didn’t stop me from falling into bed with him.

Being with Wes was thrilling, but he’s all wrong for me. All wrong for my life. After our week was over, I snuck out of his beach house without a goodbye. I was never going to see him again, right?

How wrong I was when I walked into Cardwell Bourbon a few months later to find
Weston Cardwell and those smoldering green eyes staring at me from across a conference table.

Working together will be a challenge. His family is counting on me to save their bourbon empire.

Wes and I have nothing in common except for our hot for each other chemistry—it’s hotter than the copper lining in a bourbon barrel.

But that’s the thing about copper, it’s an effective heat conductor—maybe too effective.

This is my absolute favorite of all the books I’ve read by Christy Pastore. There aren’t as many books that feature an older woman/younger man and Copper Lining was fantastic. Wes and Minka meet in Hawaii and one night turns into a week, until she sneaks away. No last names were exchanged, but they each made an impression on the other. When Wes nexts sees Minka, she’s at Cardwell Bourbon, as their newest employee. How are things going to play out? Will they start right back up or was Hawaii all they’ll have? No spoilers, so please grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with all the amazing characters in this book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Minka meets Wes while on vacation; what happens on vacation stays on vacation until they meet again when Wes' family contracts Minka's services. Minka is building her social media brand, but she also never forgot that vacation fling. I loved how hot and sexy Minka and Wes are together. When their situation gets complicated, neither of them does anything really crazy. I did wish Minka's family dynamic had been explained a little more, but overall I loved this story. It is a bittersweet ending to this bourbon family and the small town of Mayfield. I look forward to seeing them in easter eggs.

Such a wonderful way to “bottle up” this Cardwell Bourbon family series!

What started out as a one night stand…moved to a one week fling…moved to a second-chance meeting of fate. The manta-ray-whisperer and the single mom-you-tuber’s romance will fill your blessed little heart with joy!

The Cardwell Bourbon distillery is located in Kentucky, that’s a far distance from California, where Minka lives and does her videos and interviews from…but it is also where Wes has been called back to from Maui, where his nomad ways have led him.

I loved this romance story so much!!! I loved the personalities of the characters as well as the whole dynamic of the families…except Minka’s family…UGH! Everyone needs a Cardwell family in their life, though…just sayin’! LOL. This was an enjoyable read with a roller coaster of emotions, filled with heat, and tasty eats! Minka’s daughter, Celia was so well written into this romance, and Minka was such a good, caring momma!

Copper Lining is the third book in this series, written by author Christy Pastore, but it can be read as a stand-alone. The previous books introduce you to other couples who show up in this book, sooooo…it does make it fun to see them again. This is a “neat” older-woman/younger-man romance that will make you feel So. Dang. Good. Take it “straight” from me….you REALLY need to read this!!!

Copper Lining by Christie Pastore is a contemporary, age-gap, second-chance, workplace romance told in first person dual POV.

Wes and Minka meet while she's on vacation in Hawaii and they have a fling. It was only supposed to last a day, but it lasts the duration of her trip. Until she slips out one morning while he's sleeping and leaves without saying goodbye. They never exchanged contact information or personal details. So neither expects to ever see each other again, even though they both think about each other often.

Three months pass. Wes returns home to Kentucky to help with his family's struggling bourbon business, but he can't wait to get back to the beach and his nomadic lifestyle. When his brother hires a consultant to help create a new bourbon recipe, Wes comes face-to-face with Minka again. Both are shocked to see each other, but Wes is livid about how she left him in Maui. Minka thinks her life is too complicated for a free spirit like Wes. She's a 35-year-old single mother, and he's a 29-year-old wanderer. They couldn't possibly have a lasting relationship. Could they?

What will happen as they work together? Could Wes finally be ready to put down roots? Can Minka find a happy new life in the small Kentucky town of Mayfield? Or will she go back to California when her work contract is up? Read the book to find out.

I enjoyed Wes and Minka's story. They were both likable and relatable characters. I also enjoyed seeing characters from the previous two books, and loved the interaction and dynamics between the Cardwell family members and between Minka and her daughter. Despite their slight age difference, Wes and Minka were perfect for each other, and their chemistry sizzled. As they spent more time together, their compatibility became apparent. The story explores how dreams can evolve and change. It was hot, steamy, entertaining, and sweet.

*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***

What a perfect end to a perfect series the Cardwell Family has given me many hours of enjoyment and although you can read each one as a stand-alone, I would highly recommend the other two books.
Beautiful March Sweet Agony.

It was only fitting to end with our wayward boy Wes or as he is known on Maui Manta Ray Whisperer . Living on Maui doing boat tours just chilling not having to worry about the family's bourbon distillery he is right where he wants to be! Minka is taking time away from her popular blog 'Preppy Baker' where she can blend ingredients to come up with perfect cupcakes! divorced and raising a 9 year she is in Maui for some downtime and she and the Whisperer don't get off to the greatest of starts - but add in a tropical night, the sea gently lapping against the sand and what happens in Maui stays in Maui....right? Nope

When Wes is called back home to help out as the distillery is in quite a mess his world is about to get turned upside down when none other than the woman he can't get out of his head is employed as a consultant. Minka hasn't stopped thinking of Wes but he is 6 years younger than her and she is sure she was forgotten as soon as she stepped off the Island...OK, she may have not said goodbye either!

It would appear that it had nothing to do with the gentle waves and the hot summer nights on Maui that got these two pulses raising as it still appears to be the case now! But Minka lives in California and Wes in Kentucky and then add in a chance of a lifetime for Minka is it going to be Maui all over again!

This story starts in Maui Hawaii when Minka books a yacht for the day. In shallow water she drops her bracelet off and jumps in to get it. The man on board with her has to jump in to to stop her getting stung. The waters have Eagle Ray which if you get hit by there tails are venomous and can cause significant wounds. He gets hold of her and tells her to keep still and be quiet. They call him Manta Ray Whisperer and he is not happy. She gets her bracelet and her carries her back to the yacht. He then takes her to a lovely beach for the rest of the day. When he docks back in Maui she leaves and after finishing up he heads to the bar. Who should turn up but Minka and so starts Wes and Minka’s week together. On her last night they spend it at Wes’s and at 5am she leaves without leaving a note. Wes does not know her surname or telephone number so can’t get in touch. Then he gets a phone call from Brant saying they need him at the distillery as the are launching a new bourbon and need his help. When her goes home all the family is there and Brant’s girlfriend is pregnant. Wes had made a deal with his brother and has to honour it. When he sees how things are he suggests to Brant that they hire a consultant and also set up a stall at the farmers market. The consultant turns out to be Minka and after a troubled start Wes and Minka rekindle what they had in Maui. Everything is going great until they have to go pick up Celia from camp in New York. Wes borrowing a plane to takes her and he gets to meet her daughter. The family spoil her and she gets on great with Wes. Wes is about to ask her to move to Kentucky from California when she is offered her dream job.she comes up with ideas to make the Cardwells on top again and also help the restaurant out at the same time. Minka leaves and Wes is miserable so I’m leaving the story here for you to finish but you won’t be disappointed.. I received an ARC for an honest review which I have given.

What a great way to end The Cardwell Family Series on a smooth and perfect end with Copper Lining by Christy Pastore. Book 3 can be read as a standalone but I definitely recommend reading the previous books in the series.
This is the youngest Cardwell book, Weston. He is in Hawaii and ends up meeting and having a week-long fling with this older woman he met named Minka. It was hot and sizzling worthy of the tropical setting. It ended when she left the bed early to go back to her life and after that, Wes didn't want to go back to his player ways. Wes heads home to the family's bourbon distillery which needs help. At around this same time, Wes's older brother Brant contacts Minka and hires her to help save the company too. She make the best cupcakes and recipes but she also has some amazing ideas on how to make Cardwell great again. When Wes sees her, he wants her gone. The story really picks up and the feelings from Hawaii come rushing right back. Does it mean they act on it? No. There are the emotional rollercoaster moments, the chemistry between them is amazing, the pull that brings the feels, the heat, the emotions and the heart. This final book has everything and only the author knows how to tie everything together. The ending was just wonderful.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *********

What a great way to end this series!! Wes and Minka met on vacation in Hawaii and I was extremely jealous that Minka got to have hot and steamy vacation sex with Wes. Fate intervened when Wes’s family owned bourbon company (he’s the VP of marketing and sales) hired Minka (a talented and famous baker with a huge social media influence) to help revive their company with her sweet, delicious and bourbon infused desserts. And when these two found each other again, it was more than obvious that the chemistry and desire never died and was hotter than ever. I loved reading how these two danced around each other with their witty, flirty banter and possessive antics.

Cooper Lining’s storyline was sweet, thoughtful, engaging and the family interactions were natural and down to earth. I simply couldn’t help but love this all around feel good romance.

Sigh, the perfect way to finish up this trilogy!

When Minka hires Wes as personal tour guide in Hawaii, she never realizes just how personal they will get. An extremely hot one night stand turns into the ultimate vacation fling, until Minka has to return to reality. Months later, a life changing career opportunity means she is face-to-face with Wes again and the sparks burn brighter than ever.

This book is Christy Pastore at her very best! Full of fun, flirty banter, steamy hot scenes, and emotions run wild, Copper Lining is a fantastic story!

Ahh, am I the first one to review this? There is no way I could have a new Christy Pastore book and not race through it as soon as I got it. Enter Wes, also known as Brant, “the manta ray whisperer”. He’s living life outside of the family, going where the surf is good, and the sun is practically guaranteed. So when he gets a rich princess renting his boat for the day, he’s not sure where the day will lead. He definitely isn’t expecting her to make some foolish mistake that could put her in danger. But if we’ve learned anything, it’s that there is always more to first appearances.

I adored Minka. That she’s been burned by love, that her family is less than stellar, is all so relatable. Minka is good at running to protect herself. Who would have thought that someone who is used to going where the next job takes him would be the person to stop her from running? Mayfield is the kind of town you want to move to. The fact the Caldwell’s live there is a huge bonus. And who doesn’t love the fact that you get to see the couples you’ve fallen in love with throughout the series? Copper Lining is a fantastic and sexy addition to the series that you won’t want to put down.

Very enjoyable read! Minka and Wes meet while she is on vacation. Things don't start off great, but there is an obvious connection. They go back to their everyday lives, but family responsibilities and new opportunities have them meeting again. It isn't long before they are unable to deny their connection any longer. I loved that Wes is younger and at first Minka was hesitant but it didn't take her long to realize age is truly a number. They realized quickly they wanted more, but that voice in the back of their heads reared up with the doubts.
Can they figure out how to have their cake and eat it too? Fun read with wonderful descriptions, great writing and awesome characters. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.

By far, my favorite Pastore novel!
Wes and Minka captured my heart from their first meeting...from sultry and steamy to being forced to work together, these two kept me turning pages until the epilogue.
As always, Pastore doesn’t skimp on character development, but the low level of angst lingering in the air was something a bit different and I loved it!
Add in the return some of our fave Caldwell side characters, a bourbon distillery, and cupcakes for a 5 star read!

Copper Lining is book 3 in The Cardwell Family series and Wes’s book didn’t disappoint. Wes is the love and leave them type a guy that drifts from place to place and never staying in one place to long, that’s till Minka. This pair have sparks flying for the start but she up and leaves and with know way to get in contact he has been summoned home by his older brother to help out with the family business and by chance his brother hires Minka to help out. Will this pair be able to sort out their issues to have a HEA? I have absolutely loved this series and I’m sad that it’s finished.

Have you ever instantly fallen in love with a book? Well I have. This is one of those books. You just know when you’re reading the first page this is going somewhere you want to be.
Yes, it starts off with a little mystery and where is this going. That’s the fun of it. Then we get to delve deeper. Misconceptions, fate or destiny, if you will, longing and wanting what is the best for each other.

I have a habit of sometimes (actually many times) associating songs with stories. While I was reading the song by Bobby Caldwell’s, What You Won’t Do For Love, came to my mind. If you look up the lyrics and read this book you’ll definitely see where I’m coming from.
Anyway, Minka is naturally beautiful, creative, trying to maneuver her way through her life and follow her dreams. She’s had so much to deal with and is trying to be tenacious with her professionalism. Enter Wes, the lovable, handsome, smart and creative Cardwell. He’s been a nomad for a while but life is steering him to settle down. Through a creative “meet cute” and destiny so to speak they come together once again. From there the story takes off. That’s all you’re getting from me. Read the story to get the full enjoyment. I don’t do spoilers. I will say the secondary characters are as important to the story as are the two main characters.
I didn’t want this story to end. I read in one sitting.

It brought up some interesting questions in my mind. Questions like; do you believe in destiny or fate, can dreams really be dreams if they change and do you follow your heart or follow what you think your dreams are, can they coincide? Hard choices for sure, major trust issues for yourself. My last question is What You Wont Do for Love if it’s true? Is there any thing you wouldn’t do and if you do, what will it cost you and will it be worth it? Is self sacrifice worth it if you’re not honest?

This is only my second book by this author. It certainly won’t be my last. I need to read about the rest of the Caldwells. I’m sure if you read this story you will be going back to review her catalogue of work. The last book I read was just as good. So here’s a toast to Christy Pastore, cheers! You have a hit on your hands!

Gripping from the very first page...

Copper Lining is a small-town romance set around the prominent Cardwell family, the bourbon barons of Tennessee. Get ready for all the feels and lots of sizzle in this page-turning novel guaranteed to leave you with a book hangover only another Christy Pastore novel can cure.

Weston Cardwell, previously having appeared in Sweet Agony as Brant's nomad brother, has just moved back to Mayfield to help with his family's distillery now that his brother has taken over as CEO full-time. Having spent the last few years traveling the world and never desiring to settle down, especially not in his home town with a boring desk job, Wes comes home where he's needed and runs right into his most recent fling from, single mom Minka MacDonald. The two had a whirlwind romance for a week before being forced to return to reality without each other's contact information. He wants to know why she up and disappeared after her final night in town without even a goodbye note.

Minka's been hired to pump some life back into Cardwell Bourbon to restore their recently tainted reputation. The last person she expects to see is Wes, the laid-back surfer fling she ran out on in Hawaii to spare herself the impending heartbreak. And this time he's not letting her out of his sight.

While this is a standalone novel, it's recommended that you read any of the previous books because they're simply fantastic. As an added bonus there are a number of recurring characters from Beautiful March and Sweet Agony that make an appearance in this storyline so we get little updates on what they've been up to. There's even a few cameos from her other books which is always fun to see. So make sure you pick up your copy of Copper Lining because this is one novel you certainly won't want to miss.

I received a copy of this book for the purpose of a review.

Copper lining was a great book it would be the first one I've read by Christy Pastore and I can't wait to read more the author , this is book three in The Carwell Family series and I wasn't it can be read as a standalone but I will be going back and reading the first two in the series . I thought the characters were both written really well I didn't like that they kind of both judged one another at first glance but over all loved the book . Wes and Minka were fire they shared a lot of sexual chemistry but after they got to know one another their connection went much deeper . The characters had a lot of growth and just made perfect since to be with one another . I'm really liking authors that have older woman younger man love stories I think they are really refreshing . I can't wait to read more by the author I'm looking forward to what's to come .

Oh my this book was an amazing read for me. I loved every minute of it. I started the book in the morning and couldn't put it down so I finished it in four hours. I just sat down and was whisked away in the scenery of Hawaii.

Wes and Minka meet on vacation in Hawaii. They have this wonderful week long fling till it is time for Minka to return home. Once she returns home she thinks she will never see Wes again. That is until his family hires her to work for them in helping keeping their family business afloat. When she sees Wes again he is furious wit her because of the way she left him in Hawaii but he is determined to get her back in the bed and by his side. But Minka isn't so sure that things will go the way they are supposed to so she fights him on it.

In the end which will Minka chose? Will it be Wes and the small town or will she go back to California?

Minka’s life is full betweem blogging, baking and being a single mother. She has ventured to Maui for a much needed getaway so the last thing she needs is the complication of a flirtation with a sexy younger man. Wes becomes a temptation she can’t deny, and besides it’s not like they will ever see each other again.

Wes enjoys the casual and low stress life he has created in Maui however he isn’t about to turn his back on those he loves when they need him. With the family business in jeopardy, he returns home never expecting that it would send him on a collision course with Minka. She has not only been hired to help turn the fortunes of the company around, but she is also the woman he spent one unforgettable week with and who left without any further contact.

Although they had their challenges Minka and Wes may have met by chance but proved it was destiny.

Unexpected Dreams

Copper Lining was the perfect way to wrap up The Cardwell Family Series. Not only did we get a steamy, surprising love story for Minka and Wes, but we got more of our favorite Mayfield residents. This book was brimming with family, food, and fun.

I loved the not so meet cute between Minka and Wes. The initial tension was a mix of annoyance and lust. Once they gave into temptation, the heat that ignited was deliciously enveloping. Their passion led to an intense connection that fate wouldn't let falter.

Ms. Pastore did a wonderful job of bringing Minka and Celia into the Cardwell fold. Minka and Wes had a few self constructed obstacles to overcome before they grabbed their HEA. But once they realized their love was worth the risk, Wes pulled out all the stops. This love story was sweet and heartwarming. Also, I think I need some bourbon bacon jam.

Loved the small town feel of this book. I loved being back in Kentucky with these characters. I really loved Sweet Agony and so it was nice that the brother got his book.

Wes is a nomad kinda guy, a sexy country boy with a wild spirit. Minka is a older woman learning how to live again. This books is sweet, sexy and savory. I love the small town feel, the family dynamic, the age gap, and the second chance romance. I still think Brantley is my favorite but I did enjoy seeing Wes find his match.

Copper Lining is the third book in this series

Book one: Beautiful March (Haven)
Book Two: Sweet Agony (Brantley)

I love the food and the drinks. I was hungry and thirsty the entire book. 😂

I have a pretty large family, so I love these love stories that revolve around crazy, loving families. I love how the Cardwells welcome Minka quickly into their folds. I loved Minka and Wes' whole journey from their initial time together in paradise to their fated second meeting. I also loved that Celia seemed to fit seamlessly into the picture. I love creative women and I love when their men help nurture that, and I loved visting the rest of the family again catching up on their lives.

What a great end to the Cardwell Family series!

I love this take on an age-gap romance, where the woman is older than the man. Their gap isn't a lot, but Minka is a single mother, and her responsibilities as a mother and entrepreneur are endless. Wes is in his late 20s, but has a nomadic spirit and only returns home when his family's business is in trouble.

This book has a lot of what I love -low angst, great character development, and plenty of steamy action.

I also love love love when authors but easter eggs in their books from previous books or series. There are plenty of that them scattered throughout the pages of Copper Lining.

Minka & Wes’s story is a star crossed lovers story. They were not supposed to be together. Yet a series of unfortunate events led them to one another the first time. The second time was just kismet.
Minka is a successful, independent woman who just thought she didn’t want a man, but she can’t resist Wes’ charms.
Wes is a reluctant businessman, forced into his family’s business, he can’t forget about Minka.
The chemistry is undeniable between these two!

Copper Lining is such a lovely story and perfect ending for the series. Minka, Wes and Cece definitely have a place in my heart.
Minka is a wonderful mother and successful business woman.
Cece is the sweetest little nine year old girl that I couldn’t help but love.
Wes has his moments (Lol) but really he’s a pretty great guy.
I really enjoyed going on this journey with them and seeing their characters grow.
