You could say I was a successful twenty-four year old, if you looked at my house sitting on the edge of a cliff with killer views of the Pacific Ocean. Or my bank account with seven figures from my coaching business. But according to my frenemy, the girl who invited me to her bachelorette party at an exclusive resort in Lake Tahoe, I was just a sad, lonely girl without a man by my side. I’d show her who was living the dream by finding a tall, dark, and handsome man to rock my world for one night.
I accomplish everything I set out to do in life, and that dark haired stranger was no exception. Unfortunately, I didn’t plan on him standing on my doorstep three days later, calling me his wife.
It was only supposed to be one hot and pleasurable night. He wasn’t supposed to ruin my business with his risky proposition to save his own. And I definitely wasn’t supposed to develop feelings for the cowboy who knows how to wear a pair of jeans. They say to bring your A-game to the negotiating table, but we may find out the hard way there’s no winning in love….or one night stands.

If Esme had to listen to Ashley any longer, she was going to strangle her. She needed a stronger drink and out of this room. Little did she know going out to the bar for a drink would change her world and her last name! Remington had come to Lake Tahoe for two things, to buy a house and find a bride. But when he wakes up a lone with a marriage certificate on his night stand, he tries to remember what happened after the gorgeous girl walked up to him in the bar.
I loved this story so much!! It was sexy and funny and sweet and I never wanted it to end. I loved getting to know another Waldo sister!
Esme...the super organized planner of all things, sticks-to-the-schedule, has worked so hard to become the successful businesswoman she is. But put a hunky cowboy who looks mighty fine in his jeans in front of her? All responsibilities and clear thinking go out the window.
Remington Roth... sexy hunk of a cowboy who throws Esme Waldo off her game with his swagger and his drawl and those things he does with his mouth. *waggles eyebrows*
Lordy...the bathroom scene. What I wouldn’t give to meet a hunky and sexy AF cowboy at a bar in Lake Tahoe. And then marry him.
I throughly enjoyed this story. So many feel-good moments had me smiling. So many fun moments had me giggling. So many swoony moments had my heart fluttering. I felt all the feels from beginning to end.
I snort-laughed numerous times, had tears in my eyes a few times, and had tingles in all the right places...many times. I swear the smile never left my face.
Remington Roth. Can we talk about him some more? Just his name alone puts hearts in my eyes. And makes my heart go pitter patter. He’s so charming and such a gentleman. Yet he’s deliciously naughty when he needs to be. I read this days ago and I still catch myself thinking about Remington Roth. Yes, I do have to say his full name, because EVEN HIS NAME EFFING SEXY.
The writing...excellent. The story...so entertaining & SO GOOD. The characters... lovable . The feels...plentiful! I can’t recommend this book enough.
The supporting characters are equally fabulous. His family, her family, and the citizens of Auburn Hill.
I’m so excited for Vee’s story!! I need it yesterday!
Sometimes one night can be the beginning of a lifetime. Esme gets her one-night stand with the bonus of a cowboy husband on her weekend in Lake Tahoe. This story is the second book in the Sisters from Hell series, but it can be read as a standalone and has a HEA ending. It is written in first person from a dual POV. Esme may be 24, but she is driven and successful in her business. She is focused to a point where fun has become a rare thing. She is a planner, but she never even considered planning a marriage to a cowboy on the night they meet. I liked Esme a lot. I appreciated her boss lady perseverance. She grows over the course of the book, which I always enjoy. She learns to reprioritize as Remington takes an important place in her life and in her heart. Remington was a fun hero. I loved how he could see and respect Esme while still wanting more for her than she was allowing herself. I love that he falls so hard and fast for Esme without realizing how far gone he is. They have an intense heat between them fueled by instant attraction. They hook up very quickly after meeting and it is break-out-the fan hot. I also loved that they related to each other on a professional level with encouragement and respect. This was a steamy, fun romance that I enjoyed very much. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
Just when you think these sisters can't get any funnier, wait until you read this book. They love hard and fierce and tell you like it is. And in the end they just want each other to have the happiness they deserve. Throw in a hot cowboy with a heart of gold and more.. And watch out!
Esme has built her business on empowering woman - woman don't need men to survive so it shouldn't bother her that she is single. Frenemy Ashley insists that she comes to her Barchelorette party in Lake Tahoe but when Esme spots a hunky cowboy at the bar maybe her night is about to improve!
Remington heads to Lake Tahoe for business of two kinds, he is looking to buy a house and at the same time if he could find someone to marry him that would be perfect!
The minute Esme squeezed in next to Remington at a bar they couldn't take their eyes off of each other you just knew they were going to have a wild night.......... the next morning Remington has a headache, marriage certificate and missing bride to find! Wild night is an understatement!
At certain times when I was reading this I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much! I loved catching up with everyone in Auburn Hill and I can't wait for the next two books in the series.
These Waldo Sisters give me life! From the very first page! I don't think I have every loved a group of sisters more!
You will laugh and fall so much in love with Esme and Remington. These characters always seem to get themselves into crazy situations and their story becomes a page turner wondering what is going to happen. Plus Auburn Hill is a great place to visit and catch up with old friends. The author also knows how to put a smile on your face when you really need it with her writing. If you haven’t picked this one up yet, what are you waiting for?
I am loving this series. Esme and Remington have that instant connection when they meet in Tahoe. A drunken one night stand, ends up being a not so one night stand when he finds a marriage certificate with their names on it. I love how characters from the Jobs from Hell series pops in. Another must read from Marika Ray!!
Sigh! Remington is what book boyfriend dreams are made of. His down-home country charm may be the polar opposite of Esme’s driven Type A personality, but those differences may be what drawn them together. To say I fell hard for Remington is a vast understatement. Esme and her need for social media validation drove me a little nuts, but I can understand how word of mouth can affect a business. Together their story is filled with sparks and silliness as only the Waldo family can do it, in a story that could only come straight from the depths of Auburn Hel… Hill. They kept me laughing the whole time I was cheering for them to find their way through the obstacle course. Now I’m ready to see what the author has up her sleeve for the next Waldo sister. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
I was so excited to go back to Auburn Hill for this second book in the Sisters from Hell series and it did not disappoint. Remington "Remy" Roth and Esme "'Me" Waldo are absolute perfection together. They balance each other out so well and it is instant love when their eyes meet for the first time!
Esme has built her business based on being an independent woman. Having been asked to be the bridesmaid in her nemesis's wedding she is obligated to attend the bachelorette party and is bound and determined to have a fling, to let lose for once. Once she sets her sights on the cowboy sitting at the bar it is game on. Little does she realize she ends up getting more than just a one night stand.
Remington cannot believe the beauty who has walked up to the bar next to him and feels instant attraction to her. He is on a mission to find a wife and get out of running his family's ranch because he has plans of his own for a non profit and Esme seems to fit the mold for that.
From the moment they meet there are sparks flying and they cannot seem to keep their hands off of each other. When Esme finds out they are married she is not too pleased about it but Remy manages to talk her into sticking with it for a bit. Once Esme finally gets on board with this marriage it seems all is well until one of the things she fears the most happens and she fears her world will fall apart.
There was no shortage of love in this story and I seriously think Remington will end up being my favorite out of all the books. He is willing to do anything for Esme...anything. It flowed so easily between these two it was so hard not to be pulling for them to get their HEA. All it took was Esme having an epiphany of what actually matters and it of the utmost importance.
Marika Ray continues to give us great feel good stories full of love, scorching hot moments, excellent main and side characters and witty banter that will keep you giggling throughout the entire book.
Sometimes it only takes a moment! That sentence says so much both good and bad. In a moment your life can change in oh so many ways. Such is what this story embodies.
I have to tell you I fell in love with this book. I couldn’t put it down and couldn’t get enough. From the moment the characters were introduced you just fall for them head over heels. Seriously, what’s not to love about a big sexy, steal your heart, swoony cowboy, named Remington? Then you have the beautiful, self made, independent woman from California, Esme. Both have their own problems to solve both have issues. Both are enamored with each other and both have chemistry off the charts. What could go wrong? Well, that’s why you’re going to read this story and find out all the juicy details. I won’t spoil your fun. What I will tell you is that moment I mentioned in the beginning is like a coin. Moments can have two sides both good and bad. The question is how is that sucker going to land?
This is a book that brings all the feels and emotions to the table. It also brings some pertinent questions. Questions like how do you really perceive yourself, is the opinion of others about yourself everything, what are you willing to sacrifice and are you willing to take the leap of faith, and go for what you want even if it may cost you?
If you’ve read any of the other books in this series you’ll be happy to see past characters and if you haven’t don’t worry it won’t inhibit your enjoyment of the book. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
So this city girl says take a moment and grab this book. I bet by the end you’ll be saying Yippe-Ki-Yay!
Hello, my name is Esme and my addiction is Remington.
"I may want a man, but I wanted Mr. Perfect, not Mr. Rich or Mr. Just Okay. I made my own fortune, so I didn’t need nor want to marry for money. I wanted a man who lit my freaking veins on fire with a single glance. Someone who made my brain dance with excitement in conversation. Someone who could fill my lonely nights and lonely heart." - Esme
Esme Waldo didn't NEED a man to be fufilled... But she NEEDED a man... And a bachelorette party at Lake Tahoe sounded like the perfect opportunity to scratch that itch... When Esme met Remy, all bets were off...
"I wanted to stand up, pull her to me, and kiss away whatever it was that had her frightened. Which was ridiculous. I didn’t have the right to pull her into my arms whenever I felt like it. Did I?" - Remington
Remington Roth didn't WANT to be married, he didn't. But it was the only way he could leave the ranch behind. Remington didn't want the ranch, but his brother did. What Remington WANTED was the freedom to pursue HIS dreams... But is he willing to pay the price?
“It’s not a pot of chili, Remy,” I muttered. - Esme
Can two people, headstrong and opinionated, find a way to be together, or will their hard won strengths become their greatest weakness? Read Marika Ray's latest amazing offering to find out!
“We did everything backward and yet here we are, in the same place I knew we would be from the moment I laid eyes on you: In love.”
I have loved every book that has been set in Auburn Hills, but I think this might be my favorite. Esme is driven, ambitious and successful. She’s built herself up as a life coach that empowers women and encourages them to build a life without the influence of a man. When she finds herself married to a cowboy she met on a drunken night in Tahoe and she realizes she has feelings for him, how will that affect the business she’s fought so hard to build? I loved watching Esme face her desire for a family and realizing that there’s more to life than work.
“We were a team, not because of the marriage license, but because I believed in her.”
Remington Roth is absolute swoonworthy. He’s a cowboy with a huge heart who does everything he can to support and encourage Esme while trying to build his nonprofit to help young men who needed a good role model. Plus he’s hot as sin and a master in the bedroom. Be still my heart!! Where can I find one of my own?
“I’m starting to love you just as much as me, so I might as well call you ‘Me.”
One Night Bride is a delightful read that is sure to bring a smile to reader’s face and touch their heart. Esme and Remington are sexy, fun, and adorable. They are absolutely perfect for each other. They build each other up and keep each other on their toes. Now I can’t wait for Vee’s story.
Before I go any further I need to get this off my chest: REMINGTON ROTH IS EVERYTHING!! if you are looking for your next book boyfriend, look no further than this sweet cowboy with a heart of gold who loves hard! Okay, now I can move on to talk about the rest of this book which was also amazing. I was so excited to delve back into the Waldo sister’s lives, this time focusing on Esme, the independent, career focused sister who doesn’t need a man. Esme and Remington’s relationship starts as a vacation one night stand but they wake up married and from there we see Remington fall hard and fast for Esme, while Esme takes some time to see how Remington is perfect for her and fits into her life just the way she needs. I loved Esme but when she hurt my Remington I was ready to jump through the book to talk some sense into her! Luckily, she comes to her senses and the heartbreak part (for them both) is over quickly. I was then able to get back to appreciating the hilariousness that is in this book, between the Waldo sisters, their dad, and the rest of the characters from Auburn Hill. I even cried happy tears in the end, because how could I not with such a beautiful ending that was just like a big bow tied on the gift that is this book! I wasn’t prepared to love Marika Ray’s cowboy hero and for him to move into my number one spot from her books, so all I know is I need more Cowboys from her (cough Remington’s brother cough) but in the meantime I can’t wait to see what the next Waldo sister gets up to!
I was honoured to get an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review
Esme Waldo reluctantly goes to Lake Tahoe for a bachelorette party. To get out of hanging out with the bridal party, Esme decides to get a drink at the hotel bar which is where she spots Remmington Roth.
Fast forward to the following morning when Remmington spots the marriage license from the State of Nevada, that is sitting on his table with both his & Esme's name on it. Only thing is Esme is long gone. The hunky Cowboy then realises he really needs to find his wife as she could be the key to solving a family problem.... only thing is he can't let her get an annulment / divorce just yet.
The whole book is full of laughter and soooo much hot chemisty you just don't want the book to ever end.
One Night Bride is the second laugh out loud installment in the Sisters from Hell series by Marika Ray. It is told in alternating POV and while it can be enjoyed as a complete stand alone, it really is enjoyed best when you have read the previous book(s). And with how funny and quirky the characters from Hell are it really is worth reading them all (Sisters from Hell is a spin off from the original series Jobs from Hell.)
Esme Waldo is a type A boss lady that puts everything into her work and needs no man to be successful- which is exactly what she preaches to her clients. Remington Roth is 100% cowboy who is looking to put his own stamp on the world- only he needs to find a wife to get out of his family business. When they both happen to be in Lake Tahoe at the same time- what started as a one night stand turns into an accidental marriage that neither of them remember. Remington thinks it will be the answers to all his problems while Esme sees it as a catalyst for nothing but problems. Can this accidental marriage work for them both and turn into something more?
I love returning to Auburn Hill- catching up with old characters feels like getting updates on old friends while having some laughs along the way and still getting to know someone else a little more. Esme Waldo is serious and solely focused on her career but she knows how to cut loose when she actually takes time off of work and away from Auburn Hill. Right at the start the chemistry and heat between Esme and Remington is insane. And as the story progresses we really get another side of Remy where he is all southern cowboy charm and manners so you can't help but fall a little in love with him too. Everything about this book will draw you in- making you laugh, swoon, get mad and rejoice with every page. And let's not forget all the hilarious words of wisdom brought to us by Esme's dad- Chief Waldo.
☄️☄️ONE SCINTILLATING DELIGHT☄️☄️ Bashing boxers boo! Marika brings it with this enticingly tantalizing, artfully compelling, delectably delicious, skillfully enthralling, sinfully delightful, rock-my-world tsunami, bursting through on gale force winds, riding waves and standing strong, catapulting this sweet treat to staggering heights. The characters interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow adding depth and diversity, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Beautiful job Marika, thanks for sharing this little thrill with us.
I shouldn't have a favorite Waldo sister, I know. I still haven't heard all their stories. But Esme is the BEST, y'all. Strong, smart, funny, sexy, ambitious-- this girl checks all the boxes. I can't tell whether I want to be her BFF or just be HER-- regardless, I loved getting to know her better.
And in the interest of full disclosure, Remington wasn't half bad, either 😍 These two have got to be one of the most electric, interesting, and absolutely adorable couples that Marika Ray has ever come up with-- and that's saying something, since I'm basically in love with everyone she's ever written into existence.
This story was just downright fun-- full of all the spunk (pun intended 😂) and sass I've come to expect from any novel from Hell, with Ray's trademark blend of witty dialogue, unique characters, and romance that would melt even the hardest of hearts.
Every book in the Jobs From Hell series was better than the last, and that's proving true for the Sisters series, too. If you haven't read any of the others, you're fine to start here-- but trust me, you won't be able to resist digging deeper and getting everyone's backstories! I cannot freakin wait until the next Waldo sister gets her turn (write faster, Marika!!!), and hope that I'll be able to catch up with Esme and Remy in the future ❤
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Another laugh-out-loud romcom from Marika Ray. Not only was it filled with humor, it's positively bursting with heart - and not just between the two main characters. Each character is backed up with a family as loving as they are nosey. Sisters who are there with advice (whether you want it or not), brothers ready with some tough love, and parents who only want their kids to be happy even if they go about it in a roundabout way.
Esme and Remington may start with "I do", but they've got a bumpy ride until "Happy Ever After." Esme is the epitome of a "Lady Boss" and she rocks it. I admire her confidence in her business and her determination to work hard to be the leader she's always dreamed of being. Remington has dreams of his own and is determined to make his own way separate from the family ranch. Marika did a great job at showing how messy and complicated meshing two lives with clear goals can be. I felt the tension of figuring it out was just right without getting angsty.
If you are looking for a funny read with quirky side characters and an unconventional road to love, this is it. While it's the second in a series, it can be read as a standalone, so if book 1 isn't your cup of tea at the moment, don't let that stop you! (Though, book 1 is also an adventure and you should go back for it eventually!)
I’m not sure I’d survive these sisters but they are great fun – and supportive of each other, in their own particular way! Esme Waldo built a coaching empire on women who don’t need a man to succeed. Or is it just how you perceive “need”? That’s the dawning moment of this story for Esme. Esme tries to have a life, just for this one weekend. She wants to have a great guy be there for her and have a great time at a weekend event. I love how they define “great guy” as a unicorn.
Remington Roth is a man on a mission…or two. One of them is he needs a wife – but read the story so that you get all the sides to it and to enjoy. I know I did. He is much deeper than he projects and has a heart of gold.
These two alpha personalities meet up in Las Vegas, have a very hawt and very inebriated weekend…that starts the road to an HEA for them. Loved these two, especially Remington. He really is the whole unicorn package; it just takes Esme a bit to figure that out. Totally enjoyed.
Another sister from H (well you know the place), finds her farmer charming (like a prince charming, but much better). These 2 are focused on their futures, but Esme is much more hyperfocused. It was great to see her let loose and take chances, even if it took a lot of nudging. Remington (Remy) is just the balance she needs, it just takes some persuasion to get it there. This is an accidental marriage, with a side of possible convenience for Remington, but has so must meatiness in it. (No pun intended).
There is plenty of steaminess in this bad boy, comedy, romance, and forgiveness. Esme learns to overcome a longtime fear, okay probably more than one, but you'll have to read it to see what they are.
Vee is pretty funny in this one, we see a bit more of her as she lives with Esme.
Y'all this will NOT disappoint. But, none of Marika's books do (IMO).
I received an advanced copy of this lovely gem, and am leaving an honest review.
Wow, I really enjoyed reading about Esme and Remington's crazy relationship, from their chance meeting through to all the repercussions of an unplanned marriage. 🙊
Esme was as bold and brave as I'd expected because of Oakley's book, but beneath the confidence she was vulnerable... "lost" under the weighty expectations of her business and online platform. I really felt for her as she struggled to decide what was right for herself.
And Remington. Wow-wee, that cowboy...! I loved how forthright and confident he was in and of himself, yet compassionate and conscious to others' needs. He read Esme like a good book, and instead of manipulating her with this knowledge, he offered to be another support beam in her life. What a man! 😍
Oh... and I'm really looking forward to Vee's book...! 🙈
This rom-com was fun, emotional, relatable and impossible not to fall in love with. I thought Esme and Remington were flawed and lovable. When you take all that steamy sizzle they generate and combine it with lots of genuine emotion, a hefty dollop of sweetness, plenty of chuckle out loud humor and an abundance of heartfelt, you have a book that sweeps you up and into a world you will want to return to time and again for the small town charm, quirky characters, strong friendship and family ties and its gigantic heart. I feel you could enjoy this book very easily as a standalone read, however I firmly believe that once get a taste of Auburn Hill and the heart stealing characters that live there, you'll be hooked and craving more. So, dive in and enjoy!! This is my independent, impartial review.
While at a bachelorette party in Lake Tahoe, Esme Waldo was tired of listening to Ashley, the bride telling her what a loser she was for not having a man by her side. Doesn't matter that she is successful in her business and has a killer house overlooking the ocean and is only 24 yrs old. So Esme sets out to find a man to share the evening with. What she gets instead is a sexy hunk of a cowboy named Remington Roth who shows up on her doorstep 3 days later claiming to be her husband. Is this a joke? What follows is some laugh out loud scenes but also some touching ones. What could possibly happen between a rancher and a woman that are opposites but are attracted to each other.
I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading the rest of the Sisters From Hell series by Marika Ray. 5 stars
Remington and Esme meet when they are both away at Lake Tahoe.
A drunken night together leads to them getting married, something Esme does not remember when she flees his hotel room the next morning.
When he turns up her house to let he know they are married, and that he wants to keep it that way so he gets to leave his family ranch, she is hesitant to agree. She thinks her sucessful business relies on her being a simgle woman in charge of her own life, but is it possible for her to keep her business and her husband. A great read, full of usual quirky characters.
Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.
Marika Ray has delivered another wonderfully sweet and sexy read with One Night Bride. Esme Waldo is the sister that has the successful business and works practically every minute of her day. Then she meets Remington Roth, a sexy cowboy from Wyoming, who shows her that there is more to life than work These two have an instant attraction and chemistry that burns the pages while reading, and their story is one mishap and funny adventure after another. This author knows how to deliver the funny laugh out loud moments that put the biggest smile on your face while also delivering some very sexy moments between her characters, and then circling back around to give you the poignant family moments that bring a tear to your eye. I am loving the Waldo family sisters and can't wait for more.
Oh, how I love this series! Remington has got it all…charm, looks, brains…so Esme would be stupid to pass that up! But she almost does and that’s where the fun begins. I’m not sure I’ve ever read two characters with so much in common, but being totally clueless. Well, she’s clueless, he’s understanding. It’d be easy to not like Esme or to be annoyed at her actions towards Remy, but even though she runs a very successful and lucrative business, she has no experience in matters of the heart. Good thing there’s a sweet talking cowboy to help her out. Esme is my favorite Waldo sister (at least so far! I have a feeling Izzy’s match will be epic) and Remington grabbed my attention right away. Full of humor and fantastic characters, Marika Ray hit a home run with One Night Bride!
I’m not saying I don’t love sweet Marika, but naughty Marika is so much more fun. This is awarded winning material.
Here’s to the sisters and their amazingly hot but even more endearing men. I love the way the hero is supportive, confident and caring, hotter than lava and a good guy at the same time. Esme is completely able to coach both her customers and herself and manage her own business and life but she’s lonely until she’s suddenly not. Way to go.
My gut feeling is that it’s going to be a tough job to top the cowboy but I guess it’s a challenge Marika is up for. Vee is a handful but it’s something I look forward to reading about.
Remington and Esme, whew, what a couple! They really go from zero to sixty in a heartbeat... Their love story is drool worthy, snort inducing, and down right dirty! 😉 It all starts with a hen party (with the typical nasty girl bride) that Esme needs to escape from, *enter Remington in all his hotness.* The cowboy proves to be a fantastic distraction - which leads to one night of craziness, and ending with them married. The usual Auburn Hill (Hell) crew show up, although not as many as usual, but that's okay cos the Waldo family is plenty enough! After page one, you'll be flying through the book to see how it all plays out, and trust me, you'll love every second of this wild ride.
Esme and Remington didn't mean to get married, but fall in love with each other big time. Esme is a young smart business woman and being with a man could ruin her career. Remington is a swoony cowboy that is looking for a wife, but only for a way out. I loved this cowboy and fierce, successful business woman. We get to visit Hell again as well as other places. Remington is just what Esme needed to face her fears and grow. I'm so sad this book ended, but I know I'll be sucked right back in with the next book. Small town, a cowboy, Police Chief's daughter, seagulls, horses and dogs. What more can you ask for in a book?
Fabulous book! I pictured Remington shirtless and wearing a pair of painted on Levi’s the entire time I read this book! His easy going outlook on life and love for his family made him even hotter. When he set his eyes on Esme he had no idea what he was in for. Esme kept her life revolving around time slots and online meetings, never enjoying life. One night in Lake Tahoe shifted her world upside down. When faced with losing the man she loved after making a mistake, she finally stepped out of her structured life and went after what she wanted. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
