Grady is one of the Texas Kings who stands off to the side quietly and watches the world around him. He’d grown up with his single mother who was a close friend to some of the original members of the Kings. It was an unconventional childhood that taught him to see people for who they are inside instead of as the labels society gave them for their against the grain choices and lifestyle.
Not your stereotypical biker, Grady has carved a niche for himself in the business world. He and his mom, working together like they always have, are experiencing success like they’ve never known.
When a woman he’s watched from afar needs help, Grady is more than ready to step in and lend a hand. He’ll make sure she’s safe, along with her little girl and the baby she’s carrying, and hope that she can love him almost as much as he already loves her.
Ella grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in a small house with a woman who shouldn’t be trusted to take care of a houseplant, let alone two daughters. After escaping for just a little while, she’s thrown right back into the fray at home where she’ll have to stay until she can work out an escape plan and save some more money. Another unforeseen event unfolds, and the ties that hold her to her family get so tight that she can’t see any way out.
Her knight in shining armor comes in the form of a quiet biker who gives her the gentle support and friendship she and her little girl so desperately need. With his help, she can escape the life she came from, but can she accept the life he wants to give her? When the opportunity arises to put an end to one of the ugliest parts of her past, she sticks close to the women she’s met and lets them help her take care of things like no one else in Rojo can.
Now that she’s safe, can she let Grady in and live the life she’s only ever dreamed of?
4.7 stars. Grady is such a sweetheart. And Ella. She’s a total badass in her own right.
The two together are absolutely perfect.
This book was so sweet and heartwarming and fun to read. I loved seeing all the characters again and seeing Ella and her daughter get the man that’s all effect for both of them.
The sex was hot. The drama was exciting and sad and Ella totally came through when she needed to, fitting right in with the rest of the ladies. The relationship was fast paced but really well rounded and strong. And that ending. I loved it. It was absolutely the perfect ending for this book.
I’m still just as excited for the next book as I was for this book when I finished the one before. And that’s honestly one of the highest compliments I can give. Especially for how long this series is, Id usually be bored after book 2. Maybe. But, as I’ve said before, this author has a gift with characters. She really makes you like them and want to know them.
Loved, loved, loved this book and addition to the series. Really enjoyed the storyline and the flow of the book. The kiddo's stole the show in this one lol! Huge fan of this author and all her books can't wait for more. I highly recommend this series. thanks jamie nibarger ellis
While this one started out in a bad way for Ella, it didn't stay that way. I was happy that she gave Grady a chance, that she didn't fight the attraction both of them had. It was fun to see as smitten as Grady was with Ella, it was the same with her daughter Cyd.
Ella really fit in with everyone in the club, from the guys to the women. But it was with the women she shined, from sharing fun with Martha and Terra, to being pregnant buddies with Nicole, the women were all there for each other.
The big party at the end was funny for so many reason, the normal chaos from everyone getting together, to Grady being disgusted at what he learned about his pool, to the skills the kids are going to be learning, to say nothing of the knock down drag out fight in the toddler crowd. But honestly it's what I've come to expect from this crew.
Ella is trying to get her footing after an incident with her ex and family has her seeking shelter with her two children. She tries her best, but pregnant and a stripper is not going to work for long when she begins showing.
Grady is a member of the Texas Kings MC and fills in a lot as a bouncer. He has noticed Ella and knows she is going to be his, along with her kids. Ella though was raised to believe she had nothing going for her but she couldn't be more wrong. Grady has a plan to prove to Ella he is everything she needs and more if she will give him the chance.
Another terrific read in this series. I liked Grady a lot and his Mom is a hoot. The one thing I like about this series (there are many things I like) but the stand out is that each book is so different from one another. Wonderful story.
I love this trope, and I thought I would love this book but it was too predictable and boring.
It was just too unrealistic and of course, fiction is meant to be just that, but you can't deal with heavy topics like this and treat them like they are casual everyday happenings. I have not read the whole series, I don't have the energy to now, but this may have just been one of the bad ones.
It felt like instalove on Grady's part, even though he has known Ella for like maybe a year because he was a bouncer at the strip club where she was dancing. The book opens at the point when something happens to Ella and he decides to make a move. It's not clear why he didn't make a move earlier, and also not clear how much interaction they had earlier... the impression I got was that they didn't have that much interaction and didn't really know each other. No idea why Grady fell for Ella or what he saw in her, since they weren't friends and hadn't really talked at that point.
Still, it's a nice "he falls first" trope and she's a damsel in distress. Although Ella says she doesn't want to date anyone for awhile, Grady's kindness and gentle persuasiveness gets her to change her mind. I liked that she wasn't stubborn and didn't push him away. He was also just the right amount of pushiness but not overwhelmingly pushy.
I wished we had more information about Ella's background and what happened that she got pregnant and had to drop out of college. That seemed very odd for a woman who had worked so hard to get a full scholarship so that she could leave town and leave her horrible mother to start a separate life. It doesn't jive with Ella's character that she would allow herself to risk losing her scholarship and jeopardize her chances of escaping her mom.
It's also implied although never outright said that she was sexually assaulted very young because her mother tried to pimp her out instead of protecting her. If so, I wondered why Ella hadn't been traumatized by the incidents and why she wouldn't have been more careful when she got together with her ex in college. I mean, we all know birth control can fail, it did fail in the case of her latest ex, but still, I felt it should have been mentioned, at least.
Also, Ella had a discussion with Grady's mom (Tallie) that she wanted to go back to school and take night classes, but that never went anywhere. It was mentioned once and then never brought up again. I wondered if she felt there was no need for her to do it anymore now that she had Grady to take care of her and support her & her daughter financially.
This book was not as engaging as Bird and Grunt's books, which benefitted from the kids being comic relief. It's an ok read but not memorable and doesn't tug on the heartstrings. Yes, Ella has been through a lot, but none of it has seemed to affect her that much; she just soldiers on. So you also don't feel for her as deeply as you would for someone who was suffering emotionally.
And it's not like she pushes things down and refuses to deal with them, or that they come back and affect her in other ways. None of that. It all just doesn't seem to matter. She takes quite drastic actions and acts nonchalant about what she did. I totally understood why she took those actions, but I just think that however much you imagine doing something and want to do something, the reality of doing it is always different. I felt that she should have some kind of delayed reaction after the fact, even if it is just to question herself and wonder whether the lack of remorse makes her a bad person.
I agreed with Ella when she said that Grady gave her so much and she wasn't sure what she gave him. The story felt quite one-sided and it doesn't show her taking care of him or thinking about what he wants/needs. It's not about the money, but it's about supporting your partner and the author didn't have any specific instances to show Ella being a supportive partner, except for that incident where she supported all the brothers in the club, but that wasn't for Grady particularly.
I absolutely love, love, love this series, and they just keep getting better and better! I can honestly say that I don't think that I have ever laughed so hard & so much while reading, until I found this amazing author and her equally amazing stories! I have read every single one of her books, and I have never been disappointed. I first noticed these books by their unique covers (the lack of the typical half naked men, which I actually appreciated. Sorry, but when 98% of the covers in my library have the same exact thing on them, it gets old), and I had a feeling that the stories inside would be just as unique, and I was thrilled to be right. I literally devoured the available books in a matter of days, and I'm always watching for the next release in all of the different series, which are all amazing. I'm not going to lie, yeah I wish that the releases were closer together, but only because I love reading this authors work so much! However, I completely understand that perfection takes time, and I am more than happy to wait for a whole complete story rather than get a novella &/or half of a story every month. Trust me when I say that these books are well worth waiting for! Grady and Ella's book may seem like just your typical domestic/parental abuse story, but it's really anything but. Like it's stated in the story, there are unfortunately way more losses than wins in these types of situations, but once in a while a win becomes something more, just like it was for Ella. I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say that I have always wanted to have a big family that loves unconditionally, and that's exactly what you get with this unconventional one. Well, that and soooo much more! Lol!!! You're certainly going to need to have some tissues handy while reading this book. Not because it's sad, but because you'll be laughing so hard that you'll be crying throughout most of it. At least I was, and always do when I read this author's stories! If you haven't already read the other series by Mrs. Bowerman, I would highly recommend that you do! No, it's not necessary to read this series (or even this book), but you will have a better understanding of the characters, their connections, and the dynamics between all of them. They're all absolutely fantastic stories, and you certainly won't be disappointed. Check out the authors website or Amazon author page to see the preferred reading order. I would personally start with the Texas Knights MC book #1, and then continue reading in the order suggested by the author. I really hope that you enjoy them as much as I have. I'm definitely a fan for life! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
Absolutely love ❤️ this series ! The way she weaves these children and men connecting even when they are not blood ! It’s so heartwarming to see and read the true character of what a man should be . Individuals not letting children made by someone else keep them from loving their woman . And the women are always so strong & once they realize what gift they have been given. And the love is so strong in all ways !
Accepting the treasure of a untied front ! Raising the blessings GOD has given !
Thank You 😊 Cee Bowerman
For the amazing journey of this MC & their bad to the bone women !! Acceptance & LOVE !!
The way the world should work ! Being a family and having each other’s backs ! It’s a lost art in real life !! Reading these books gives me HOPE !!
Grady pretty boy who smells like cookies who falls for a stripper name Ella. I mean come on pretty woman only MC side Learning more about Grady and Ella was an amazing read. He understood her fears, she was to be his Queen. Ella thinking she unworthy of someone like Grady. Texas King boys know what the want and go for it. These bunch of men are so entwined by DNA , blood or none blood, the ladies yes need rescuing but strong in their own right. Learning how Grady Mom was a stripper like Ella, single mom showed us Ella will be determine to succeed like Grady mom. Hope Grady and Ella have another child. Omg the kids in this serious crack me up. Once again Cee wowed us .
Absolutely loved this!!! It's been a while since I read all the previous books and I'd forgotten what a crazy, funny bunch this was. First off, Ella is quite the bad ass and fits in just perfectly with everyone especially the women. What she and her sister were put through from that waste of space of a "mother" was beyond horrifying. Ella did what she had to do....good for her! Grady is a gem. He's perfect imo. Together they are magic. Cydney or "Squid" is one of the best kid characters. She is a little scrapper though so this should get interesting. This series has it all and with just the right mix. Looking forward to the next one in series. As I said its been a while since I read the previous books and I'm thinking that I may be doing some re-reading.....lol.
I anxiously await every release by CB. Never disappointed. I feel like I know the characters in the Texas Kings MC personally. This book was so very very good, I could not stop reading and not ever wanting it to end. There is drama, stupid dangerous idiots (her parents), lots of love and support from the MC, a crazy wreck with evil intent, choices were made to alleviate threats. Sweet perfection wins in the end. HEA. Already, I am anxiously awaiting the next release in this series. Thank you CB and please keep writing. You write quickly and you write really great well developed stories.
The portrayal of Grady's relationship with his mom in this book was amazing to see, and how I feel a parents' relationship with their children should be. Unfortunately, that couldn't be said about with her mom.
Ella was so strong. She kept trying to succeed in life, no matter what it threw at her, and the way Grady watched out for her was touching. I loved the chemistry between Grady and Ella.
Seeing most of the older guys was great too. This book will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I can’t wait for the next book from this author.
This was wonderful. The main characters built a loving, lasting relationship that was supported by fabulous secondary characters. Problems were dealt with quickly and permanently. Loved seeing the kids and getting some updates on them. Ella and Grady were really a good fit and Cydney definitely is a future queen. Really liked how their past, present and future were part of the story. Lots of action and justice served without gory details. As always the smexy times were plentiful but so were the laughs. Definitely recommend.
I am really enjoying this entire series and about 64 percent through the book, it becomes better as the storyline moves to include all the characters. It’s fun and cool and full of sarcastic humor. The romance is between Grady and Ella. Let’s just say that Grady is so wonderful. He is smart and intelligent. Grady is a total package. Even his mom Tallie is awesome! Ella has had a crappy life due to her mom’s selfish behavior. Ella is trying to get away. Hank saves Ella from demise and Grady falls for this woman in distress. Read On!
I chose this rating because this was actually a really good book. I really enjoy all of the characters, will most all of the characters. This was a book of protection, kindness, compassion, and getting your life back. I really enjoy Grady and Ella story. I really like the way that he didn't whole what she did against her, trying to make her living to take care of her and her daughter. This was a really great read! recommend this book to all romance readers and MC lovers.
Isabelle came from such a terrible (trying to be nice with my language) past... she deserved a break. And that break was Grady. What a cool storyline! This wasn't your usual rags to riches story. Cee Bowerman writes stories that reflect our Texan take no s--t attitudes and includes lines that make me laugh so hard I'm crying! I'm on my 2nd round of reading all of Ms CB's books and still enjoy the hell outta them! Please read all of her books.... you'll not regret it!
I really love that at the root of each and every book in this series is the theme of family, and not just family by blood but the family that you choose to have in your life, and I think that this book is one of the best representations of that. I really liked the story in this book and I loved how accepting Grady was of Ella and her situation from the get go. I loved the characters and had plenty of laughs throughout the story and I especially liked how the women all pulled together when needed. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read that I would recommend.
I don't know how but each book is brilliant and so different then the rest. You get invested in this entire crew and really feel a part of it all. Grady ahh I love him and Ella was just as special as every female we have met through this crazy crew!! The kids my Lord they are all a whole other breed that you can see your own kids being part of. This can never end because the book world would be missing out.
There’s a distinct theme to this book, the absolute ruthlessness and strength of the women in this MC, especially when it comes to motherhood. Whether that means protecting their offspring or facing down mothers who didn’t live up to the job specifications.
This story deals with Grady, who is a few years younger than the main guys running the MC. He’s a really interesting guy, who adores his ex-stripper Mom to pieces. He owns part of his mother’s company, which is a range of clothing and beauty treatments that have been a roaring success. His Mom put herself through college and got two degrees whilst stripping and raising her son without support from her family or Grady’s father. As Grady learnt from his Mom, he got a degree which he uses to help his Mom run her company, but he also works as a mechanic and a bouncer at the MC strip club. Basically, he barely sleeps!
Whilst working at the strip club he met Ella who he becomes smitten with. He does nothing about it for a year until she comes into work beaten up by her ex. He and Hank (his boss and surrogate father) step up and take her to the women’s shelter which is supported by the club. Grady makes his move after falling even more head over heels for her and her four-year-old daughter who he adorably calls Squid (Cydney).
Ella’s very smart and tried to get away from her abusive mother by going to college but had to drop out when she got pregnant and lost her scholarships. There are a lot of parallels between Ella and Grady’s mother in the way life hit them both which only enhances Grady’s admiration for Ella.
Ella is great fun. She’s strong, determined and loving. She’s also pretty funny and adores her daughter who is just so cute it’s not true.
At first glance, this feels like another case of insta-love but actually, it’s taken a while to brew, it’s just we didn’t get to see Ella thinking Grady is hot and nice and way too good for someone like her. We don’t see Grady thinking she’s awesome and gorgeous. We just see the final stages of their falling for each other feelings.
This couple/family is lovely. I just want to pick them up and hug them. They deserve each other and to have a good life together. It’s certainly not all plain sailing, but things get taken care of with the usual club ruthlessness and Ella fits into the same mould as the other MC women where she will do anything to protect those she cares about.
These are not sweet and innocent people which is what probably saves it from being too saccharine sweet, though there is a certain insouciant approach to violence which makes it much less traumatic in the moment but with hindsight is kind of chilling, but then these are MC people.
As always this author provides a fun and easy read that entertains. I’ll always read her books because they are a great pick me up.
Grady came out yesterday and it was another Cee Bowerman amazing story. Completely unexpected and totally satisfying. I could not put it down. Some favorite characters make an appearance but her heroine steals the book. I love everything about her and she fits right in with the other women. I don't want to give any spoilers away but she's perfect. Once again, if you haven't downloaded Grady, then you are missing out.
I don’t know how she does it, but Cee’s books are so well written, I can’t stop reading until I’m finished. Grady and Ella are a terrific couple - she’s been thru hell thanks to her mother but with Grady by her side and the support of the Kings “family,” she rises to a life of happiness. Ella’s one tough lady and Grady is one hell of a man - what a fantastic couple. Looking forward to the next book.
The 13th in the series and just as good (and maybe better) than the rest. Cee Bowerman is the master of drawing you into the family that is the Texas Kings. Grady has all of the elements of the steamy relationship and hilarity that Bowerman is famous for. If I could give it a 10 rating instead of just a 5, I would!!!
Another great story. It's great to see how Emma and her sister Isabelle were able to turn out as loving responsible ladies, considering their disgraceful mom and her greed and being a nasty drunk, not too mention the last step dad was just as evil. I love how loving Grady's mom, Tilley is and how she worked her way up to provide for her and Grady and taught this the Emma. Cydney was very special and smart little girl and do loving. Happy reading.
This was one of my favorites in the series! Could be read a s a stand alone but I recommend you read every book (more than once.) Grady is dependable. Strong. Reliable. Funny. Nice. Empathic. He’s going to be the man who is capable of being a best friend and husband. He’s wonderful. The h is nice, almost too nice, until she kills someone that needs killing- then I was super happy that she is nice and capable hahah. Sorry. Had to be said. Great book.
Great story of Ella and Gray, who was extraordinary in his feelings for her. They got along well. The humor and love between them was wonderful. Ella was brave when she took care of her stepfather and eventually her mother. WOW Squid was so cute and so brave. I loved her run in the cornfield. Gray looking for the cyclone in there that was her. Good humor and fun & a good read. Thank You
Really enjoyed this book. There humor was great, there were many different levels of laughter. There was just as much hot romantic Sean's. And yes there was blood but nothing too gory. I found myself interacting with the plot. It was just a fun book to read with some interesting and different plot twists.
If you want a lighter read and a few chuckles along the way. Then you might want to try this book out.
My family kind of hates that I'm "Hooked" on this series. My book is always with be and I just started #1 a week and a half ago. Every character blends perfectly in each book. No one is left out. Page turner full of suspense, heartbreak, healing, steamy romance and most importantly... love and unity. Good work Cee Bowerman. Forever a faithful follower now. 🌻
I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this story since Grady has been on the outside of stories in the past, but I'm glad I followed through as he was such a pleasant surprise. I loved his relationship with Ella and Squid. This book had just a touch of family drama and it resolved quickly and the way it was supposed to.
The cast of characters continues to grow so I would definitely recommend reading the series in order to get the full experience.
Absolutely brilliant! Love that Ella isn't a push over! She has her own mind and isn't afraid to do or say anything! Grady was great with Ella's daughter. Loved the chemistry between them! This is a definite MUST READ!! Well done Cee for another fantastic story, can't wait to see what comes next!
