You know when you’re reading a book, except it’s like the book is playing a film in your head and you are just totally captivated by it? That.

I laughed, and I cried a lot, but I loved it.

Tom Grant is a functioning alcoholic. He knows it and so does everyone else but he keeps working as a Gov’t agent.
His latest job is to keep him from reliving a very tragic past event that has dragged him deeper and deeper into a bottle.
Isabella Wirth seems to be the wrong person for the job at hand and the wrong person to be protected.
Find out how life can cripple you mentally.
Find out how fate can change ones perspective of a meek little girl’s reason to hide behind her work and how the correct problem can bring a strong lady to the table.
Find out how abuse, torture and negative dirty training of a 13 year old can give someone a skewed look at life.
Find out who saves who, how they do it and why.

Samantha Adair has created a few great characters here that will come to life and jump off the pages.
She has created a must read book as it turns your point of reference on its’ head and tells the story from that point

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Samantha Adair; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Samantha Adair makes her debut with a stellar novel, and it is only the beginning of what is sure to be an incredible series. She’s a dog mom who lives in Australia with her husband, and when she isn’t writing, she is spending time in her favorite coffee shop or spending time with her friends.

“Prima donna?” she spits, “you kidnap me out of a dinner party, practically eat my face off, and expect me to keep following you without some explanation?”

Isabella: beautiful, smart, and dangerous. She has secrets and a past that could get anyone close to her killed.

Jack: a father figure to Isabell, he watched over her and took her safety into his hands. He, too, has secrets that may be deadly.

Tom: self-described functioning alcoholic, he is the literal best at what he does. A master of everything, except perhaps his heart.

Kat: a blast from the past that no one saw coming. Bold, brave, and fearless, her games of cat and mouse are quite deadly.

Martha: badass Gran figure; she is smart, capable, and deadly.

Samantha Adair makes quite the entrance with her debut novel, which will grab your attention immediately. We meet Isabella, who makes an effort to blend in. She finds comfort and safety in not being noticed. But then Jack delivers some news that is not only unexpected but possibly deadly.

Isabella thinks she will spend an evening at a fancy party, seduce a target, and be on her way. Until a pair of beautiful green eyes come into her life. With a gaze that makes Isabella forget to breathe, Tom has his plan... and Isabella is suddenly thrust into a world she thought she’d escaped ages ago.

This is a fast-paced plot that has so much action. The locations' descriptions are so well done; you will feel like you’re sitting in Paris, watching things happen. The characters are so well developed, and they are so well written. It is impossible not to fall a little in love with the main cast of characters.

I loved the female empowerment within these pages. Badass, smart, capable, strong females doing what needs to be done, in every aspect, is beautiful. I will always applaud a strong female lead.

If you are looking for a fast-paced, well-written, strongly developed novel that will grab you from the first paragraph- do yourself a favor and read Blood Orphan. It is excellent, in every way. This is a brilliant introduction to a series that Samantha Adair is sure to blow her readers away with altogether.

I read Blood Orphan in one sitting. From the moment I met Tom, I couldn’t let him go. Think James Bond (the Sean Connery version - of course) without the chauvinistic mindset. Add in razor-sharp wit that has you laughing out loud and an internal monologue that reveals a damaged heart, and the result is one hell of a compelling character.

At first Isabella seems smart - if reserved - and content with fading into the background, but when her horrific past is revealed we find out that she is much more than meets the eye, and not someone you ever want to mess with.

Neither is too pleased to be working with the other, but when events in their pasts are revealed, we find out they have one thing in common, Kat, and she is intent on making them both pay for what they took from her.

What initially begins as a simple ‘job’ for Tom and Iz quickly turns into a flat out cat and mouse chase across Europe that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

If you’re looking for a great thriller with compelling characters and an intricate, fast paced plot, look no further than Blood Orphan. My stomach is still in knots and I can’t wait to follow Tom in book 2. I need my fix! I just hope the author is a fast writer!

You can’t call yourself a real reader if you don’t vary your readings a bit, and this thriller is perfect for relaxing.
The book is well written, and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Let’s start with Isabella Wirth, who works for a military base as a breaker code. Her boss sends her on a mission asking her to seduce a man, Tom Grant. And entertain him until reinforcements arrive to capture him because he is a threat to national security.
Tom, he’s working undercover, and he’s in that hotel to protect Isabella.
Wait, what? Wasn’t that a threat to national security?
The more the story goes on, the more intriguing it gets. Lies, twists, and discoveries that the author makes you do little by little makes reading very enjoyable.
It’s just brilliant, especially when we get to know Isabella for real and her being a Blood Orphan.
Despite being haunted by a traumatic past due to a Blood Orphan, Tom must follow orders and protect her.
When the past of both begins to hunt them down, what will happen? Will they be able to work as a team?
I can’t help but repeat it; this book is brilliant. I recommend reading it because it will keep you glued to the pages from start to end.

A functioning alcoholic and a woman with an interesting past team up in this new government agent novel. Together they need to take down a man responsible for turning children into orphans and then turning those same children into cold blooded killers. Tom, the alcoholic, is raked with keeping Isabella, of an interesting past, safe. There are also other key players, both who work for and against the pair. Trying to keep track of who is on who’s side may leave you breathless.
Opinion
I’m extremely excited about this new series. While it’s not my typical genre (romance), it certainly calls to me. I ended up absolutely loving this book and cannot wait for more to be published.
For those of you who like mysteries, this book should grace your shelf.
I truly loved that it wasn’t a cozy mystery but also wasn’t too much blood and guts. Reading from dual points of view enhanced the story as I was able to see what was going through each of the two MCs minds.
Many thanks to Phoenix Books Promo for providing me with an ARC of this book.

What can I say? This was my first book by Samantha Adair and I loved it. The first few pages sucked me in and I absolutely loved this book. From the storyline to the characters and to the twists and the turns that kept coming, I was hooked! If you have a job, do NOT pick this book up. It will result in nightly readings to 2am!
This book centred around a young woman that needed protection. In steps her knight in not so shining armour and a diabolical adventure begins. If you loved the Jack Reacher books, then you MUST read this book!
I am now eagerly waiting for book 2!
I loved the moment Isabella and Tom met and especially the way that the author detailed their story. It wasn't an instant connection and I think I loved that The author really showed how the story unraveled with the secrets and lies and I felt like I was right there in the car with these characters!
I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

This is my first read from this author and I did struggle a bit to read it but it was a good story. Tom is an alcoholic who is functioning and can do his job even though he's a disgrace. He tries to make sure that he can do the job even if he doesn't want to. His newest task is to make sure Isabella is safe from harm. There is a lot going on with keeping her safe and you will read other characters through this book as well. But what happens is that children are becoming orphans and the nasty man is making them into killers. So now they have to find who is doing it and to try to save them. This book will take you on a mysterious, murderous ride, but it's a great read and will leave you wanting more.

Wow. Wow. Wow! What a book!

No amount of words can describe how much I LOVED this. I’ve never been into thrillers, but this was an incredible read.

There was never a dull or boring moment… all of the great twists left me gasping and wanting to read more. I struggled to put this down and I haven’t read a book as quickly as I read this in a long time!

If this isn’t on your TBR, then I suggest you add it, because you will not be disappointed.

If I could give this more stars, I would.

I recently started reading more murder mystery/thriller novels, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I adored Tom and his relationship with Isabella. Loved their chemistry!

Reading this was almost like watching an action flick in my mind. There’s a perfect blend of suspense, action, and romance. All of which kept me coming back for more till the very end. And the ending was absolutely beautiful and fitting for this particular story. I’m looking forward to reading more of Tom’s adventures and what the future has in store for him.

Brava! Brava, Samantha Adair! The Tom Grant series hit all the high notes for me.
Tom is the best agent for the job even in his beautifully broken state. He struggles daily trying to make sense of his messed up life at the bottom of a bottle. Even half sober he's able to pull off a job and protect his mark. When Tom finds himself assigned to guard Isabella from unknown threats every trick in his book is compromised.
Isabella just wants to find freedom. Freedom from her past and a way to erase the scars that keep haunting her present. As she joins ranks with Tom their adventure is everything no one expected and much more. Hang on for a bumpy ride!

Blood Orphan is the first book in the Tom Grant series. I started with the third book, which I thoroughly enjoyed, unknowingly and had to go back to see where it all stated.
Blood Orphan is a page turning thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. This is a fast-paced tale with plenty of action.
On the run through the Parisian streets. Samantha’s writing is easily imagined with her vivid details.
I loved the characters all who are deadly in their own right.
Tom is a functioning alcoholic and back on the job to protect a woman but lies and secrets have a way to bring out the worst of the worst. If they don’t catch her, they can’t kill her. Right? It’s definitely a deadly game and one I am not sure that Tom can save her from or himself for that matter.
Fantastic read.
I am off to read book two.

This was a fantastic read that has you hooked from page one. It really gets you to feel how the main character is feeling and you follow his story and growth along the way.
The two main characters are well written and are both someone working through a lot which makes their character feel so real.
The storyline is incredibly written and this makes the scenario that both characters are in feel so real as well.
I cannot wait to find out more that happens next in the series.

A coder for the CIA is assigned to seduce a guy who is a threat to national security. He spots her immediately, and it turns out he is actually assigned to protect her from hitmen.

Sort of a romantic comedy with a few twists.

I’m sorry, I just didn’t love this. It started well but it just seemed to descend into a series of events happening to the characters with no real emotion or drive behind them. There were only so many times I could cope with them checking into a new hotel, getting found, moving hotels again, getting found, repeat ad infinitum. Not for me.

Readers’ Comments
“This is a solid thriller with plenty happening on every page. Reminded me a little of the Jack Reacher books with the strong, slightly broken, hero. A little repetitive in parts in terms of the characters´ feeling. A good editor might have cut it a little to improve pacing.” Male reader, aged 47
“I must say the author knows how to get the plot moving. I enjoyed getting to know the two central characters. The sexual tension between the two worked well – although a bit OTT here and there. There´s little realism in this fast-paced thriller but, possibly, that is its strength.” Female reader, aged 69
“I struggled to get into this novel. But it did get better. There´s a lot of ´lusting´ which was bugging; I like my thrillers fast-paced and surprising. Saying that, there are exciting moments, and there is good chemistry between the characters.” Male reader, aged 59
“This could be the beginning of a cool set of books. I´m a Clive Cussler fan, so this was right up my street. It´s not literary in any way, but it´s got plenty of suspense, and plenty of good guys and bad guys to keep thriller fans enthralled.” Male reader, aged 33

To Sum It Up:
‘A fast-paced thriller packed full of thrills and spills! A FINALIST and highly recommended.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards

When started this book, I was like, this s brilliant - then it started! It felt like every other page had eyes rolling, bottom lips being chewed, cheeks being chewed, eyebrows wiggling and the hands touching fingers and running through hair plus lots of other stupid things. Ok if it was added once or even twice could be forgivable, but time and time again just got too much to bear! The rolling eyes were the worst though, it must have happened at leat 2 dozen times.
Then we have these brave top f the line agents - always trembling with fear, shaking, feeling sick and vomiting.
Come on, you had a brilliant storyline and just ruined it. I struggled to reach the last page because o was waiting for the next pair of eyes rolling or the trembling agent. It just seemed like the story was bulked out with this rubbish in order to fill the book.
Honestly, you can do better than that as your story line is great but seemed to get weaker and a bit rushed towards the end. It’ll be interesting to see if your next book you write improves

I must admit I’m not one to really read thrillers but I did enjoy Blood Orphan. Samantha Adair created such an interesting strolling that I couldn’t put down.

I found the story really interesting and I needed to find out what was going to happen. This definitely reminded in some ways of James Bond in the sense of the action that was happening throughout the book.

Tom and Isabella were very intriguing characters. Both had secrets that they wanted to keep. I really liked the character arcs and finding more about their backstories, especially how they came to be where they were.

Overall Blood Orphan was very interesting and I’m interested in seeing where Samantha Adair goes with the series.

Wow! What a page turner. Without giving away too much of the plot, this story is about child assassins called Blood Orphans: children kidnapped at a young age, trained to become killing machines and do the Russian mafia's dirty work. The writing is simple and easy to read, a bit of awkwardness here and there, but that's easy to look past when you're engrossed in the story.
The book starts out with so many surprises and twists and secrets that it's really hard to put the book down. I really enjoyed the plot of this book, as well as the characters, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense and an international game of cat and mouse.

This book is full of action, thrill, and suspense. The character chemistry between Tom and Isabella add to the fierce scenery and imagery which makes the plot even more eventful. It's interesting to see how Tom processes his own thoughts and feelings, but also tries to pull off this new job he has been assigned. If you enjoy reading books from the action and suspense genre, then this might be your cup of tea. Add in the intelligence agency and a few enemies, and this book is a full pot of constant action. It's like watching a movie, except it's in book format. The dialogues between the characters is also fun to follow up with, it truly reflects the energetic characters in this book.

I could not put this book down. Tom Grant is on an assignment to protect a woman he knows next to nothing about. The woman is a Blood Orphan, a child that was orphaned and trained to assassinate. A Blood Orphan killed Tom's love. Will Tom be able to realize that Isabella is nothing like Natasha or will his hate for Blood Orphans endanger them both? Find out in Blood Orphan.
If you love a story full of twists, turns, suspense, and a slowly evolving romance, pick up a copy of Blood Orphan. It will keep you guessing the whole way and it ends in a nice cliff hanger. I cannot wait to read the next book.

Well ... after reading the short prequel I predicted an interesting tale - and here it is! Tom Grant, in all his glory - in hot pursuit of potential assassains, and the survival of his own career; all the while trying to keep his client alive and his boss off his back.

Chasing across Europe in a fast-paced succession of cars, bikes, trains and aeroplanes, dodging bullets and never sure what will happen next. Until the final (rather good) end.

A fantastic and seat-gripping debut from this author. When’s the next one coming, Samantha?
