Raven Transcending Fear is part memoir, part self-help guide. It’s the authors' raw and personal story of childhood abuse and diving deep into her terror before ultimately getting comfortable with fear and transcending it. Though Terri had loving people in her life, her mother was abusive and enabled others to traumatize her. To get drugs, her mother allowed strangers to assault her 11-year-old body sexually. She then left her and her sister alone on the streets of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Terri’s childhood left her filled with fear until she embarked on a spiritual journey and learned the skills of empowerment, which have allowed her to transcend the fear and regain a connection with the Divine. Everyone is born fearless and knowing who they are and what their purpose is. However, life experience or abuse may instill fear and break the connection with our authentic selves. Through this memoir, readers will go on the journey with her as Terri moves from a life ruled by fear to fearlessness.
Empathy - that's the first word that comes to mind when I reflect on the author's writing. What she endured while under the supervision of her mother was horrific, heartbreaking, and angered me as a parent and woman. How could anyone allow such a thing to happen to one of the people we should love and protect beyond any measure? Without giving away spoilers, Terri brilliantly walks us through that moment in time where she had to confront her truth and how she found her way through the trauma and confronted her fear. This book is truly empowering and I highly recommend it to anyone who is suffering from trauma themselves or supporting someone who is struggling.

This very personal book is well edited and fantastically written. It is not a subject that everyone will want to read about, but the guide part of the book will benefit a lot of people. Definitely worth reading. I award 5 stars.
Beautifully written, inspirational journey of light and hope and faith from a dear friend and remarkable woman. Terri's story is one of survivorship and growth, but more importantly it's a reminder that each of us is what we choose to be, not just a result of what happens to us and around us. Now, perhaps more than ever, her message of accountability and authenticity is an absolute must.
