3.5 stars.
A sweet love story with some angst, featuring a deeply tormented hero, “The Best Man’s Bride”, by Jamie Dallas (Tule Publishing), is a quick read with an intriguing allure cleverly centered on what readers don’t know yet.
The hero’s sorrow is the driving force of the reading pleasure; the author really wrote that tragedy well, building curiosity and anticipation, strategically spreading hints about the secret.
Despite the emotional and psychological scars, the pain, loneliness and aloofness, Jace is very protective and sweet with Hailey, making him a captivating hero.
The mystery factor and the awareness of our ignorance about the hero’s baggage kept the reading engaging, even if the revelation felt a bit anti-climatic.
On the one hand, I found Jace’s tendency to self-sabotaging the relationship very realistic, considering his past; on the other hand his hot/cold behavior sometimes became a bit annoying.
The mutual secret crush is another interesting dimension, not sufficiently explored in my opinion.

Felt rushed.

“'I don’t owe you a damn thing,' she snapped.
Evan’s eyes widened and the conversation around them faded."

Not enough pining

Not enough of everything. There's a focus on a business that isn't important. Do I want to know if Jace lands on his feet? Nope, I want his world to crumble. Hailey is left with nothing and it's fine. Not a second is spared on how she'll survive. She has to pay for stuff Evan said he'd pay for. She has to constantly deal with two crappy men who don't care about her. And this is supposed to be a love story. Sorry crappy childhoods don't excuse being a jerk. Therapy not relationships. Learn how to be a decent human before inflicting yourself on the female population.

Jace has spent the past few years trying his best to bury his attraction to Hailey. Now she’s everywhere and making him forget all the reasons he should never mix business and pleasure.
This is Hailey Miller and Jace Hartman's story.
Today’s wedding was officially on the record as the worst wedding Hailey Miller had ever attended.
Too bad it happened to be her own. Her long white train dragged behind her like baggage she couldn’t abandon.
The wind whipped her veil into her face, and if the ominous dark clouds overhead were a sign for the future, she’d say that it was going to rain any minute.
Jace gazed down at her with that smug, knowing expression of his. “And here I’d thought you’d be happy to see me.”
“Get out of here, Jace.” She shot him the darkest look she could manage. Unfortunately, it was difficult to feign toughness when she was shivering.
The Best Man’s Bride by Jamie Dallas is a 3 star book.

The Best Man’s Bride by Jamie Dallas, book one in her Hartman Brothers series, is a story of when things go wrong, you are unsure they can ever be right; especially with love. Hailey Miller caught her fiancé cheating on her, hours before their wedding. Fleeing from the venue, she is chased down by the best man, Jace Hartman, her ex’s business partner. About to expand their business in a new location, Jace refuses to loses the best event planner his company ever hired and will do anything to keep Hailey in Houston; even offering for her to stay in his guest room. Jace does not believe in love and although he’s been attracted to Hailey for years, has tried to keep his distance. He chemistry between these two is off the charts and despite it being too soon, Hailey is affected by Jace and the mutual attraction they share. As they prepare for the opening, things start heating up, Hailey’s ex becomes vengeful, Hailey is lost, and Jace is struggling with his feelings. Abandoned to live with his loving aunt, Jace was left by those who were supposed to love him, how could Hailey love him or he love her, in return? It would take some reflection and separation before Jace will go after what he wants and deserves.

Ms Dallas wrote a wonderfully, sizzling and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with off the charts, sizzling chemistry, intense emotions, and charming secondary characters helping Hailey and Jace attain a future they desire. I highly recommend The Best Man’s Bride to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

This is a new-to-me author, and as far as I can tell this is her first traditionally published work. I really enjoyed her writing style and found her characters to have great chemistry. This story kept me engaged and turning the pages, that’s for sure.

In all honesty, I didn’t realize this was a debut novel until I looked her up after I read this story. I wanted to see what kind of back library she had since I would be interested in reading more. The story flowed seamlessly. Hailey and Jace were both fleshed out well and had me fully rooting for them from the start.

There was a time or two that the timeline didn’t make sense to me, but no more often than in other books I read. It’s one of those things I always pick out (unintentionally) on my reading.

Not only was the writing on point and the connection between the characters delightful, this was also a forced proximity and enemies to lovers story. In other words, a whole lot of fun.

I can’t wait to read more from this author. I see there is another book in this series coming out in a few months and I’m looking forward to that.

The Best Man's Bride is not just the first book in The Hartman Brothers series, it is also the first book I remember reading written by Jamie Dallas. This contemporary romance involves two business minded people. One has been burnt badly by her former fiancé. The other is the former fiancé’s business partner. Needless to say business did not mix well with love for Hailey.

Hailey Miller may be a charm at promoting new business but she is naive when it comes to the dating and marriage. The opening has her running away from her wedding. Run she should. Jace Hartman, the best man runs after her but not for her as much as what she can do for his company’s newest launch. What a twisted web this is.

I like Hailey and learn to like the emotional detached Jace. There was a certain mystery to him that will keep you reading. Nothing that is obvious or that you can put your finger on but something that says there is more to his story than you know. It turns out to be true. There was nothing about Evan that was attractive after seeing him from Hailey’s perspective. In fact early on that was nothing more that I wanted than for these two to get together leaving Evan in the proverbial dust. An entertaining story that has you taking the side of the reluctant hero and the betrayed heroine.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

By chance I decided to pick up this book to read. I am so happy I did. This is one of those unexpected treasures that will touch your hearts and one you will remember for a very long time.
Hailey Miller is about to get married when she discovers her groom is otherwise engaged with the wedding planner. When she does an about face and leaves the ceremony, the best man, and her fiance’s partner goes after her. Neither ever suspecting that their lives would change forever.
Hailey , who is also the event planner for Jace’s and Evan’s company is convinced by Jace to stay on board until their next event.
As they spend together feelings develop but Jace’s past keeps him and his heart walled in. Will he let his childhood and feelings of abandonment rule his life and lose Hailey, or will he give love a chance?
This touching at times heartbreaking as well as heartwarming story with complex and likable characters, is a reminder that our experiences during our childhood do in fact affect the adult we become.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series by this very talented author.
A special thanks to Tule Publishing for entrusting me this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The Best Man's Bride by Jamie Dallas is an engaging workplace romance.

On her wedding day, Hailey Miller catches her soon to be husband in a compromising position with the wedding planner. With the help of the best man, Jace Hartman, who also happens to be Hailey's indirect boss and ex-fiance's business partner, she makes her escape. Hailey's job as the event planner for Jace's company puts them both in an awkward position, especially since Hailey's expertise is desperately needed for the upcoming launch. As a result, Hailey and Jace embark on a new deal. Hailey is now earning double her salary to ensure that the launch is a success in three weeks. She is also temporarily living at Jace's place, while they both keep Hailey's manipulative ex at arm's length. Overtime, their dislike for each other evolves into attraction, lust and love.

I liked this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

I will be honest I expected this book to be just another fun romance nothing special and I couldn't have been more wrong it is in fact a story that drew me in and kept me engaged and it isn't because of drama or angst no it is the wonderful characters that make up the story

Hailey Miller is about to get married to Evan one of her bosses that is until she finds him in a delicate position with the wedding planner wanting an escape she is aided by the best man Jace Hartman who also happens to be her newly exe's business partner and her other boss. She wants a clean break away but Jace needs her on the launch In return he will increase her pay and let her stay at his home and keep Evan away from her. As they spend time together feelings grow between Jace and Hailey but he has walls around his heart can they start something that will last even when Evan is bent on revenge. Grabbed as a free read and a new author for me.
This had its moments but unfortunately just didn’t grab me and hold my attention.
It also ends with unanswered questions which I assume must be carried forward.
I liked Hailey but found her apologising to her cheating ex Evan for running out on their wedding a bit unbelievable.
Evan was just a douche and his whining about family pressure was juvenile. He at least apologises too but there was nothing about him paying half the wedding bills which had been put on Hailey’s credit card.
Jace was the typical cold, lone bachelor due to being abandoned by his mother as a child. The fact he was raised by a wonderful Aunt doesn’t seem to have registered on him. Until Hailey walks as he cannot commit.
Did enjoy the ending but we get no clarification as to what Jace is doing work wise. Did he take Megan’s offer or not? What is Hailey doing for work now?

Hailey calls of her wedding just hours before it is set to start when she catches her man with the wedding planner. She gathers her wedding dress and literally runs. The last person she expects to see come after her is Evan's business partner Jace. Jace needs Hailey to handle the big launch that is coming up. For years he has hid his attraction for her and this time is not any different. Business first, always. They strike up a deal....she will finish the launch for double her salary( she has wedding expenses to pay for) and finish the launch as long as she can stay in his guest room now that she has no where to live. They continue to work well and comfortably together and Jace keeps Evan away. There attraction grows stronger to the point it is the elephant in the room. Can they overcome their own personal baggage and hurt to take another chance on love? Good read.

Hailey runs from her wedding when she found her fiance' making out with the wedding planner. She is in her wedding dress on a rainy day trying to find a place to escape when her fiancé's best friend and business partner finds her and offers her a place to stay, with him. Hailey is also the event planner for his company's big upcoming launch and Jace is determined to keep her around to finish the job so he makes her a deal she can't refuse.

Little does Hailey know that Jace has secretly been attracted to her for years. When his business partner latched on to Hailey, he stepped back, even when he didn't want to. He claims he doesn't believe in love but the feelings he has for Hailey seem to prove otherwise.

If you want a story that is sweet and redeeming, this is one you will enjoy reading. There is a happy ending just like I like it, too.

Falling for the runaway bride.

After Hailey catches Evan, her fiance, making out with the wedding planner on their wedding day, she runs. But she didn’t get far before Jace, Evan’s business partner and best man, finds Hailey walking the streets of Houston, in the rain, still wearing her wedding dress. With no place to go, Jace offers Hailey a room in his condo in exchange for her to continue working for Sun Tech, Jace and Evan’s company, until the launch in three weeks. What happens next was slightly predictable, but a whole lot of fun to read. Hailey and Jace had great chemistry and I enjoyed seeing how they finally got their happily ever after. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Jamie Dallas’ first book, The Best Man’s Bride, in The Hartman Brothers series is a case study in perseverance and self discovery. From its onset, Jace and Hailey’s story will create a bond that is difficult to let go of once the story has ended…I’m thrilled this is a series and that there are more stories to come. The characters are authentic and relatable, the indecisions and conflicts of where Jace and Hailey’s lives are headed (separately of together?) are palpable. The dialog flows without effort, it’s intelligent and captivating…the moments of intimacies are tasteful and emotional.

This definitely a story I’ll want to revisit prior to the second in the series releases.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Loved Hailey and Jace's story of HEA. Hailey a runaway bride has no where to turn but accepts a room at her ex's business partner, Jace. Little does she know, he has had a secret crush on her for the last few years. They both can't deny the chemistry that they share but the only problem is, Jace does not believe in love.

Hailey is the event planner for Jace's and her ex's company. With a big event coming in three weeks, Jace pleads with Hailey to at least continue working for their company until then. As they work together their relationship builds, but can they make it work in the end.

A wonderful debut novel that I had a hard time putting down. Full of emotions and sizzling chemistry. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is the first book published by author Jamie Dallas and it was so worth waiting for it. This was what I like to call a sweeter read of a book, And one that I needed right now. Hailey Miller is a bride about to get married when she discovers the worst thing one can find... her groom is messing around with the wedding planner on the wedding day. So she leaves and runs. But on her way out who should find her but the best man who happens to be the groom's business partner too. there is so much more to this story which makes it more than just a bride running off with the best man. I have to say I really enjoyed this book and I am so looking forward to many more books from Ms. Dallas in the future.

This book is such a sweet read. I loved Jace and Hailey. I thought they had such great chemistry between the two of them. Hailey is just trying to come to terms about her cheating ex. Jace is trying to make sure that his company does not suffer because of what Hailey’s ex did. Jace and Hailey decide to help each other out and the deal they struck helps them both. What neither of them count on is the feelings they have. Will they ignore them or give in to them? Pick up this book and find out it is a great read from start to finish. 3.5 bumped to 4. Jamie Dallas is a new to me author. Her writing style is engaging and easy to read. She doesn't draw out things just for the sake of making the story longer. The Best Man's Bride starts off right in the middle of all the action when Jace picks up Hailey after she becomes a runaway bride. There is plenty of angst, but it isn't over the top. It's more from past experiences that have never truly been resolved. The plot is interesting and the characters are believable. All in all, I enjoyed this one!

When I first read the title and description I thought this was going to be some super rushed rebound type relationship. Well it wasn’t it was perfect, Jace and Hailey had great chemistry and a history of crushing on each other that was built on after Hailey ran from her wedding. I really loved this book and how the characters were able to relate beyond their wounds and grow in a natural way. I also loved how it gave kind of a cliffhanger ending and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

When Hailey sees her soon to be husband kissing their wedding planner she flees, to bad she is running in her wedding dress, to bad it is raining and she is getting soaked and really has no idea where to go. When the best man comes to her rescue and they even make a bargain which lets her stay in his extra bedroom the reading is just the best, it’s so good that of course I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I was given an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my review.

This is book 1 in a two book series, The Hartman brothers. Since much of the book was about Jace Hartman being abandoned by his mother at a young age I guess there is a half brother for book 2, The Cowboy's return. Halley is a runaway bride that leaves her fiance, Jace's business partner, at the alter. The story is a little predictable and both the men are a little stereotyped., but I enjoyed the story. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Pass on this..

Boring story made stupid. Hailey is a wet bag who apparently goes to apologize to her cheating ex for embarrassing him, considering he was cheating on her right thru wedding day. Jace is old enough to basically get over his abandonment issues considering his aunt, stuck by him all along. The situation seems contrived and their change in attitude seems just as much. All in all this is a pass.

This book was decent. It had a few cute moments. I struggled with a few things. The biggest one being the hero's backstory hesitancy. The ex's apology also really bugged me. I also recommend counselling for all three characters. *I received an ARC of this book and tis is my voluntary and honest review.

Hailey runs out on her wedding after finding out the groom-to-be is a cheater. She is rescued by the best man, Jace, who needs her help at work and agrees to let her stay with him while finishing off the project.
Will he have his chance with Hailey now she is single?

Looking forward to the next books in this series.

The Best Man's Bride

She had been set to marry her fiance. But on the day of the wedding she caught him with the wedding planner. His business partner and best man talks her into finishing up the contract she had with them . All goes fine until they start noticing that they are fighting deep feelings for the other. What happens is the rest of the storyline.

good story

This was my first time reading this author & I enjoyed this story enough to want to read more. This was definitely full of drama & heat. It was also filled with denial, abandonment & assumptions that almost destroyed a company & the lives of Hailey & Jace. Recommend to read.

Very enjoyable novella. A bride-to-be leaves her fiance at the altar after finding him in a compromising position with the wedding planner... she's found and assisted by the best man, who turns out to truly be THE best man for her.

Found the story on Readict. Glad I stopped to read the first few chapters. I'll likely try other books by Jamie Dallas now.
