Three years ago, nurse Sindy Carruthers returned to Bunya Junction wounded, wary and shamed by a relationship gone wrong. Welcomed home by her family and supportive community, she now manages the local medical practice and enjoys her newfound confidence. She’s perfectly happy on her own, until a blast from the past in the form of Ryan Flanagan appears.
Dr. Ryan Flanagan—renowned plastic surgeon to the stars—heads to Bunya Junction to pay his last respects to the man who opened his heart and house to an abandoned boy. Ryan’s no fan of Bunya Junction or the harsh judgments of some of the townsfolk, so he’s stunned to discover that his old mentor has bequeathed him half a general medical practice—hoping he’ll stay on and serve the community. The other half of the practice now belongs to the beautiful Sindy Carruthers, his closest friend’s twin sister.
Sindy knows Ryan will never stay in Bunya Junction and become her business partner, and that’s a good thing. Otherwise she might just lose her heart to him.
USA Today Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love.
On her first school report her teacher noted "Nicole likes to tell her own stories". It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.
Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.
When Dr Colin McCarthy passes away and leaves his medical practice to his nurse, Sindy Carruthers, and Dr. Ryan Flanagan, a popular cosmetic surgeon, both were surprised.
Why would Colin leave anything to Sindy and Ryan? It didn’t take long to answer that question as I read the book. Colin had a huge heart and wanted to help them. But did Colin plan on them falling in love? I think he would have been happy to know they did. Neither, Sindy or Ryan, wanted anything to do with romance, but fate had another idea. Distrust and misinformation played a big role in Sindy and Ryan’s relationship and almost put an early stop to it. I was so happy to see them work through it and get their happily ever after.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and their backgrounds. I descriptions of Bunya Junction made me feel like I was there with them. I can’t wait to learn more about the town residents in future books.
What a wonderful start to a new series!!! Ryan and Sindy’s story had me totally engrossed from the first chapter. Nicole has such an amazing way of combining emotions that we as readers can relate to in some way with characters that just melt our hearts. These two have been through so much heartbreak, but maybe they can find a second chance with a little help from above. Outstanding read!!! Highly recommended
This is a great start to this new series. Dr Colin McCarthy passes away and leaves his medical practice to Sindy and Ryan. I absolutely loved the story line and the characters. Both Sindy and Ryan have some past issues they have to overcome in order to be able to move forward. I loved the chemistry between them. This book is an emotional read but it is also so sweet, romantic and even has a little drama too. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Loved the story line and the location. A lot happened to them (separately of course) before they came back home. Too bad there wasn't a story for them before this book cambe out. You get the gist of the book when you read it. A lot of old hurts to reconcile with and make amends. HEA I just reviewed Home To The Outback by Nicole Flockton. #HomeToTheOutbackComingHomeNicoleFlocktonSecondChance #NetGalley
Home To The Outback is a great first book in the Bunya Junction series by Nicole Flockton. It is a sweet page turner of a contemporary romance. I loved Ryan and Sindy. The characters of the town are great. I can’t wait to see what happens next for them.
This story is a wonderful start to the author’s new series centered around Bunya Junction, a town in Australia. Ryan Flanagan is a prestigious plastic surgeon in Sydney whose childhood was spent in Bunya Junction. Abandoned by his father when he was 6 years old, the town’s much beloved physician gave him a home and the possibility of a life better than he ever expected. But Ryan never wanted to go back . When he’s at a crossroads in his life, he receives a call that would change his life forever. Sindy Carruthers is the nurse of the mentioned physician and the sister of one of Ryan’s best friends in town. She calls Ryan to deliver bad news about his mentor. Returning to Bunya Junction was a drastic change for him. A change he never wanted but one that would open his heart and his mind to new possibilities of finding hope, love and a new goal. Especially when he finds the one that completes him and has him seeing that living in the moment is more important than the what-ifs. This introduction to the series will leave you wanting to read more stories of this town and it’s inhabitants. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was a wonderful & emotional read. Tragedy brings Sindy & Ryan together again in Bunya Junction as they both mourn a mentor. For Ryan he was a father figure who raised him when his own father didn’t return home, for Sindy he was her doctor & friend & her boss. As Ryan reels from the betrayal of his friend/business partner & his girlfriend he receives news that he’s inherited half of his mentors family medical practice. Sindy returned home a couple of yrs ago after a brutal attack & betrayal of her then boyfriend to work in the doctors office, where now she is part owner with Ryan. As they work together we get to watch them struggle with their feelings for each other until one night when Sindy’s past comes back to haunt her. The drama increases as miscommunication & secrets tear apart their fledgling relationship until Sindy is injured in an attack again, working at the hospital. Emotions run high as Ryan finally realizes how much he loves Sindy as he sits by her bed. It’s a nice start to a new series, can’t wait to read more of it. Definitely recommend. Thank you to Tule publishing for letting me read this book for an honest review.
Ryan is a famous plastic surgeon practicing in Sydney. He grew up in a small town called Bunya Junction. His mentor and father figure was Dr Colin McCarthy
Sindy is a nurse who worked for Dr Colin McCarthy. Sindy also grew Up in Bunya Junction.
Ryan and Sindy have a great second chance due to their benefactor Dr Colin McCarthy.
This was a lesson in Australian history with a Happily Ever After.
Ryan leaves his career as a big city plastic surgeon to rush to the bedside of his mentor, whose dying wish is for Ryan to take over his local general practice clinic. Even more surprising is that he only inherits half of the practice - the other half goes to his childhood best friend's twin sister, Sindy, who has worked there as a nurse ever since she came home a few years earlier.
Fight it though they may, their fierce attraction and the life-and-death pacing of the job they share catapults these two into a steamy relationship, despite what the town might say and despite the other plans they each had.
The story was instantly captivating, and while the end is known right from the start it's still an engrossing read with fascinating characters and a delightful small town community. I read it straight through in one sitting and loved every bit of it. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is a deeply emotional story about two people damaged by life and unwilling to trust who are thrust together by the machinations of an old man. Dr Colin McCarthy has died and left his medical practice to two people who both are hurting Sindy Carruthers is the nurse who helped to run his practice a former local who returned three years earlier after been badly hurt by her boyfriend. Dr Ryan Flanagan will inherit the other half a world famous plastic surgeon who he raised after his own father never returned. These two both have walls up and Ryan wants nothing to do with the town that judged him. As they spend more time together the walls slowly lower have they found in one another the thing they both didn't realise they where searching for
I was so excited to receive an ARC of this book. I love Nicole Flockton's books. Once again, she did a great job with the start of this new series. This book was a well written story that packed an emotional punch. It left me feeling warm and fuzzy and excited to read the next book. I very much enjoyed Sindy and Ryan's journey toward find each other. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this book to read and review.
After the death of both mentor and friend both Ryan and Sindy have to deal with the aftermath. Realising they’ve inherited half the practice each they have to learn to work together whilst dealing with an attraction they didn’t expect.
I loved the characters and I got really attached to them. It actually gave me the thought of living for just now and not worrying about what might happen. Looking forward to the rest of this series
"Home to the Outback" is Nicole Flockton's very successful start into the new "Welcome to Bunya Junction"-Series.
Nicole's World- & Character-Building is outstanding. You feel like you are right there in the Middle of the Story. I loughed out loud, i cried with and for the Characters... and fell in love with them within a few short Moments.
I loved this first book in the series. It was a little different because it was set in Australia but I loved how it shows how little towns works especially when it comes to emergencies and how you have to build up trust in the town once you break it. Fantastic first book in the series can't wait for the second book.
I do not normally read books set in Australia because years ago I read a couple that just seemed to make the people/ scenario hard to relate to. My mistake...it was obviously the story telling. Nicole Flockton is a favourite author and I thought I would try to read about Sindy Ryan in Bunya Junction. I am so glad I did! These characters are very easy to relate to and even though Ryan seems to have it all you actually get to see into his thoughts and fears. I was impressed with how well developed Colin's character is considering that he is not there. I cannot wait to revisit Bunya Junction and Sindy's brothers.

Sindy and Ryan both had a tragedy that has shaped them, one came home to Bunya Junction afterwards and the other felt they needed to stay away. Can two people with who aren't dealing well with their own issues come together after the death of a friend and mentor and find happiness, support and love with each other?
Well Nicole has brought us to her homeland. This book was like watching a beautiful dance! Dr Ryan and Nurse Sindy are 2 broken people who help each other find their future which happens to be together. So find a comfy chair and take a trip to Australia and watch these 2 people fight their attraction to each other. You won't be disappointed.

Home to the Outback the first book in the new Welcome to Bunya Junction series is all about coming home. That is not always easy but can be for the best which is what at the heart of Nicole Flockton’s latest story. The story begins with Dr. Ryan Flanagan selling his part of a practice so where he is now at in life is not the greatest either. Sindy Carruthers, a nurse, has had some incredibly challenging times too. Together they inherit a local medical practice in hometown Bunya Junction.
These are two likable characters who did not deserve the harsh circumstances that life has thrown their way. They are also both survivors who have made productive lives in which Dr Colin McCarthy has played a positive part. You wonder if the good doctor had more in mind than just them being business partners. If so, you easily get on board with the idea. An emotional read because of loss, miscommunication, past situations and baggage that needs to be unpacked and left behind.
A great new beginning to the series. I look forward to the next book.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed it, but not as much as her Operation Alpha series.
Dr Ryan comes home to say goodbye to his mentor, and meets up again with someone he never gave a chance. Sindy liked him to, but he has to work his way back into her good graces (along with the town he left behind). Several misunderstandings and stupid mistakes later there is a HEA.
Cute I thought this was a sweet read about a doctor who left where he came from and didn’t turn back until his mentor/father figure was in a car accident. It was too late. But he could honor his mentor/father figure’s dying request. In the meantime, he falls in love with who I suspect his mentor/ father figure knew was meant for him.
Sindy Carruthers returned to Bunya Junction under a bit of a cloud of mystery. What made her leave the excellent job as an ER nurse she had in the city? After being severely beaten up Sindy returns to her hometown and welcomes the job offer to be the local doctor, Dr. Colin McCarthy's practice nurse. When Colin was critically injured in an auto accident it was up to Sindy to make Colin's wish to see Dr. Ryan Flanagan again become reality. When Colin left Sindy a half interest in his medical practice Sindy was very surprised. She was even more surprised that Colin left the other half interest to Ryan Flanagan. Now they were business partners. What will that mean?
Plastic surgeon to the stars, Dr. Ryan Flanagan returned to Banya Juntion when he got the call that his mentor and the man who raised him was critically injured. Ryan owed so much to Dr. Colin McCarthy. Not only did Colin take Ryan in after his father abandoned him, but Colin also inspired Ryan to become a doctor. Ryan's reputation in Bunya Junction as a teenager was an iffy one. He did get into trouble a lot then. Returning there after he escaped to go to University would be tough. He owed it to Colin though. When Ryan heard Colin left him half ownership in the local medical practice in his will Ryan's first thought was that he didn't want it. Sure, his former friend and partner in their plastic surgery practice forced him out but staying in Bunya Junction... Of course there's his beautiful new business partner Sindy Carruthers. As they got to know each other better staying in Bunya Junction became much more appealing.
Home to the Outback by Nicole Flockton is the first book in her new Welcome to Bunya Junction series. This is a second chance at a new life story. Both Sindy and Ryan benefited from their new beginnings starting over in Bunya Junction. I really liked reading along as this couple's relationship developed. They healed each other emotionally. Author Nicole Flockton has set up a super new series with the characters she has introduced in this new series. Looks like Sindy's brother Jonas is up next to have his story told.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
This is the first book in the Welcome to Bunya Junction and Nicole didn't disappoint. Great start to a new series. Tragedy brings Sindy and Ryan together when the man who was both of their mentors dies and leaves the medical practice to both of them. They don't understand why he would do that but, maybe Dr. Colin knew something they didn't. Both are struggling to overcome things in their lives. This is a second chance for both of them. It's a quick read with emotion and some great characters who make up Bunya Junction. Can't wait to read Jonas's story next.
Home to the Outback - Super start and enjoyable read to the new Bunya Junction series. Nicole, as usual sets the scene and you’ll be quickly drawn into Ryan and Sindy’s story. It has a little bit of everything, raw emotion, drama, angst, and of course slow burn romance. But the road to happily ever after is rarely a smooth one and Ryan and Sindy suffer some intense bumps and bruises along the way while fighting their growing attraction. This story proves that “coming home isn’t alway easy”however, if you can just be courageous together, you can have it all.
In a small town in Australia, a surgeon reluctantly returns home to find he is partner in a medical practice left to him by his mentor and substitute father. His partner is a caring nurse who has demons in her past that affect her everyday life. Their chemistry outweighs the secrets ad worries as they discover more and more about their true selves. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Welcome to Bunya Junction, Book 1 Home to the Outback by Nicole Flockton Coming home isn’t always easy… Three years ago, nurse Sindy Carruthers returned to Bunya Junction wounded, wary and shamed by a relationship gone wrong. Sindy knows Ryan will never stay in Bunya Junction and become her business partner, and that’s a good thing. Otherwise she might just lose her heart to him. This is Sindy Carruthers and Ryan Flanagan's story. “This is Sindy, I’m the practice nurse for Dr Colin McCarthy, from Bunya Junction.” It had been a while since he’d seen or heard the name Colin McCarthy. “What?” “Dr McCarthy…” Her voice broke as she said his name. Had she been crying before she called him? Did that account for the husky timbre in her voice? Dr Ryan Flanagan stared at the papers on his desk. His favourite black Mont Blanc fountain pen lay on the glass surface, ready for him to pick up and sign on the solid black line. On the other side of his office wall his former best friend and practice partner, Toby Clarke, anticipated the moment Ryan opened his door and handed over the sheaf of papers signalling the end of their ten-year association. association. All he had to do was sign and then he could move on with his life. Only problem was he had no idea what or where his future was going to take him. Home to the Outback by Nicole Flockton is a 3 star book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I really enjoyed Sindy and Ryans story. They both had to deal with their pasts to finally get what they wanted in life, more-so Ryan IMO. I actually felt bad for him towards the end. I understand people say things in the heat of the moment but what the h said, knowing how he felt growing up, was not cool. But in the end he finally realized where he truly belonged and they both get the HEA they deserve. Now I will admit after reading this I considered moving to Australia to live in a small town like Bunya Junction. But then I remembered Australia is known for their poisonous creatures and unfortunately thats a hard no for me so I’ll pass. Oh well, I’ll to stick with living vicariously through books like this one. Now I’m going to wait patiently for Jonas and Scotts books. Eeeek!!! Cant wait for another trip to the Outback.
A great start to a new series set in the Outback of Australia. Sindy, a nurse and Ryan, a physician have been left with a medical practice in Bunya Junction. Sindy has already been working at the clinic but still surprised. Ryan is at crossroads with his career as a cosmetic surgeon, but also surprised. A nice change of pace temporarily might be what he needs. Neither are looking for a romance,of forever after but soon fate has more do it with it.
Loved these two characters, finding love when you least expect it. Loved this town and all of the residents. A wonderful read that kept me turning the pages. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this story by Author Nicole Flockton. Ryan is a very successful plastic surgeon and wants to be part of something more and parts ways with his partner, whom is all about money and greed. When Ryan gets a phone call that his adoptive father, Colin, was in a very serious accident, he heads back to Bunya Junction. Sindy Carruthers went back to Bunya Junction after her relationship went wrong. Sindy ended up working for Colin as a nurse and thought highly of Colin. When Colin passes away, Ryan and Sindy find out they are both half owners of his practice that he is leaving behind. Fate brought them together, can they both heal and love. This is a great contemporary romance and I loved the setting in Australia. I cannot wait to dive into book 2 :).
