There are features on the earth's surface that science cannot explain with theories of changes over millions or even billions of years by the geologic processes that we see occurring commonly today. However, when you explore the evidence from a biblical worldview, the geologic features marking the planet's surface make sense given the worldwide catastrophic flood described in the book of Genesis. Join author Mike Oard as he explores what is termed as “the retreating stage of the flood” - the seven month-period when the waters receded and the landscapes which are familiar to us were formed by a myriad of processes like uplifts and sinking, erosion, and more, which answer important questions Flood by Design takes you into a fascinating aspect of the Genesis flood you may never have considered. Examine unusual rock formations and evidence that only the biblical flood model can fully explain. Filled with many photographs and easy-to-understand illustrations and charts, the book is a powerful source of research and answers for high school students and beyond.
Oard provides an evidence-based critique of the currently dominant uniformitarian assumption underlying modern geology and geomorphology, demonstrating over and over again its inadequacy in accounting for direct, abundant observations. Although such a conclusion always involves an inductive inference, Oard suggests that a world-wide flood as described in the Bible actually provides the best comprehensive, integrated explanation for all the relevant, available data.
I wasn't aware that Creationists had developed a model of history that so thorough accounts for the scientific inquiry observed in the last 200 years. I also had no idea that so many geologic formations were unexplainable to geologists. Some of Oard's references are from the 1960s, but geologists have been working things out for a long time before then. He does reference more recent work in case you were doubtful that he cherry picked outdated data.
The book was impressive as it outlined a possible scenario of how the waters of Noah's Flood flowed off the continents making many of the rock formations we still see today. The biggest thing i learned is that in many places in the Rocky Mtns the bedrock or hard rock is actually below sea level. it has just been filled in with dirt and sedimentary rock to form a valley next to a region where the rock is above sea level. This was nuts to me. A region's rock may sit 10,000 feet below sea level, but have 15,000 feet of dirt and earth piled on top of it. While an adjacent region may have solid rock 10,000 feet above sea level. This would form a valley and a mountainous area. And this is ALL OVER THE ROCKIES! i wonder if this sort of situation covers the Earth's surface even in areas that have no mountains like the prairies and plains of the midwest or the south.
an impressive book well worth whatever anyone is selling it for.
