“Demon slayers, a kick-ass heroine who’s as funny as she is fierce, and a hot enemies-to-lovers romance? Yes, please!”

I’m ready to start fresh.

I mean, who wouldn’t be after defeating demons at a rave sent there by my criminal mastermind parents?

I could use a vaca. Instead, I get a job.

But, I can’t complain. I’ve been hired as a full-time demon hunter for the best agency in the country. I’ve finally landed my dream job. There’s only one little problem.

Dax Murphy is my boss.

The same Dax Murphy who tricked me, drugged me, and seduced me into thinking he was the best thing since sliced bread. What the hell was I thinking, getting hot and heavy with him? Dax isn’t even that sexy. Who likes eight-pack abs, sparkling blue eyes, immeasurable wealth, and great power, anyway?

Sure, I can secretly hate him while I do my job. The agency is going to need me, too, once demons begin popping up that can conjure magic. That shouldn’t be happening, and I have a feeling my outlaw parents are involved.

Soon, people in our agency start going belly up, and what I think is a routine investigation turns into a fight for our lives. When Dax and I are trapped together in an evil playscape, only my undeveloped magic stands between us and oblivion. And time is running out.

If you like K.F. Breen, Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter, Laurell K. Hamilton, Shannon Mayer, Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews, Dannika Dark, and Jennifer Estep, you’ll enjoy this wildly fun, enemies-to-lovers Urban Fantasy.

In the previous instalment, Winter’s true identity was revealed. Not only were her parents a major driving force behind the Viceroys, but Frankie’s parents were in league with them too. Luckily Winter and her team were able to thwart a crucial stage of their plan to unleash demons on innocent people. While Frankie’s parents were arrested by the Magical Law Enforcement agency and later sent to prison, Winter’s parents were able to escape although not before her mother unlocked Winter’s magic which had been suppressed by her husband when Winter was a child.

A month has now past with little activity from the Viceroys. Thanks to Lawrence Chambers convincing the M.L.E to drop the charges against her, Winter and Frankie are now working for the supernatural investigation agency headed by Dax Murphy. Winter has moved into Frankie’s parental home but despite Frankie’s help, has made little progress in gaining momentum on the inconsistent nature of her powers.

Meanwhile Dax has acquired an important file that could make all the difference in their fight against the Viceroys. Unfortunately an attack on the agency results in the file being taken as well as the death of a colleague leaving the team reeling. In their search for answers the team seek out Evanora, the candy witch who was in league with the Viceroys and was also responsible for poisoning Chambers. Unfortunately the team fail to realise that one of their own has been compromised, and are instead being led into a trap designed by the Viceroy’s to take out Winter once and for all..

Rebel Witch is the second compelling instalment of the Demon Hunters Wanted series. With witty dialogue, colourful distinctive characters and action interspersed throughout from beginning to end, this book has all the trappings that reel the reader in in and have them anxiously turning the pages.

Told from the perspective of Winter and Dax, the story picks up a month after the first book. We see a conflicted Dax, despite his secret, doing everything in his power to ensure that Winter stays safe. When the agency comes under attack by a demon capable of conjuring magic, however, the team realise they have a new threat on their hands. Unfortunately their search for answers, results in the team becoming separated and Winter and Dax trapped in a magical realm. Now the two must put aside their differences and work together to rescue their friends.

Winter’s development over the course of both books has been interesting. Gone is the impulsive, audacious recluse of the first book and in her place is someone who has carved out a place for herself at the agency by forming a genuine attachment to her friends. Her camaraderie with Frankie in particular, has been one of the many highlights of this series for me.

This was a fast paced, engaging sequel and I’m looking forward to exploring what the author has in mind for Winter and the gang in the third instalment. Ideal for fans of urban fantasy enemies to lovers romance, witches, vampires, sorcerers, secret societies and magical realms.

Another great Winter the Witch story, snarky as always. She just wants vacation but her boss needs her help, big time. Short but loads of action. Loved it.

Allez zou !

After the fallout from the previous book, Winter appreciates actually having a job hunting demons given her background and her criminal parents, but she is kinda miffed that Dax (basically her arch nemesis) is her new boss. Now that her magic has been unlocked, she is attempting to figure out her skills, but it is a slow frustrating process that Winter has no patience for. But she may need her powers sooner than she expected with a familiar danger circling around.

This was another action packed installment in the Demon Hunters Wanted series, full of crazy scenarios (seriously, a candy witch with gingerbread men, a rock candy castle and a Labyrinth style maze quest?? Yes please!), uncontrolled magic, secrets, tons of snark and a dash of heartbreak. The author is fabulous at also creating endings to leave me hanging with giant reveals that make me desperate for the next book. Rebel Witch was easy to get lost in, something I read and enjoyed in a single weekend, the pacing just about perfect causing me to read "just one more chapter" until I hit the end. This series is perfect for anyone who likes snarky characters that take nothing seriously, crazy magical scenarios that you could never predict what happens next, odd couple friendships you just want to root for, and a fun kind of Urban Fantasy world with demons and action.

“Rebel Witch” is the second installment in the “Demon Hunters Wanted Trilogy” by Katie French, a NA paranormal romance science fantasy

Winter Davenport is back, she would rather take a break and go on a holiday trip and start anew, but is not to be. Dax Murphy (her boss) has a new assignment for her, and Dax is trouble, with capital T, a trickster of the worst (and best) kind. But Winter loves her job, working full-time for the best demon hunter agency in the country is her dream job, despite of Dax, thus… here she goes again, hunting for demons able to conjure magic, they shouldn’t but they do, and her parents seem to be involved, again… it’s a dirty demon hunter job, but someone has to do it. However, to be trapped with Dax in the evil dimension wasn’t in the contract.

This is a delightful urban science fantasy series, fast-paced, action-packed, with a capable, witty, strong, and sassy main character, whose only flaw is her out-of-control-attraction to Dax, but – in her defense – the guy is paranormal kryptonite.

Our heroine has a new job, but like everything else, there are a few issues with it. Of course, that needs to be set aside when magic wielding demons start taking out her coworkers.

This is book two of the series, but it does pretty well as a standalone. All the essentials are covered early on.

This is an urban fantasy story with witches, demons and other paranormal critters. The story is very well written, easy to read and highly engaging. The well developed characters and setting sucked me in right at the start and kept me highly entertained throughout. I love a tough and smart heroine with a bit of an attitude and our heroine is all of the above. Add in a fast paced plots with lots of unexpected twists and you have a real winner. Overall, I really enjoyed seeing our heroine again and look forward to more in the future.

Highly recommended.

If Winter doesn't kill Dax first, they may be a great team!

This book begins with a bang and doesn't slow down. Frankie is more confident, Jason is still Jason, Dax is kind of pompous now he's the boss and Winter still has that chip on her shoulder. Demons are coming after Winter. The Candy Witch is still mad and wants some payback. Oh, and let's don't forget her father. This was a fantastic read. I loved the first and second books and am very excited for the next one. I requested a free advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

The second installment of the Demon Hunters Wanted books picks up a few months after the first book leaves off.

Winters character comes across as more solid in this book. With her confidence in her friendships growing, she is able to make decisions without second guessing if it will out her secrets. Dax's character is given a bit more depth in this book compared to the first one, but I still struggle with liking him. He just feels...boring.

The Candy Witch makes a major appearance in this book and I really enjoyed the darkly whimsical theme her presence brought to the book.

This book is a Wow and the snarky witch is back! Winter is now trying to learn witch magic, skills her father had hid on her since she was little. Her mother and father was criminals of the world and created havoc and death wherever they went. So Winter left when was very young and along the way made some good friends with magic. This gets exciting, getting kidnapped in a candy house to finding love. Woo Hoo! Good reading.

Hang on Tight . . .

This was an exciting book that I highly recommend and definitely enjoyed. The characters are well defined, some you won’t want to turn your back on, but many are likable. The story line is fast-paced and exciting. The twists and turns keep up the suspense and the reader will love the surprises along the way! Humor is one of my favorite additions, and this book is full of it. Grab your copy and enjoy the adventure. It’s going to be getting even wilder than this!

She has just got her dream job but it will mean working for him. He was the same one who had kidnapped her and so many other things. She know they will need her as her outlaw parents are doing everything they can to bring them all down. Can she stop them? Will she be able to save them all? See how this tale will go

This second book in the series left nothing untouched. We got a few small answers still lingering from book 1, but we also got so much more. The chemistry between our FMC and Dax was phenomenal. I disnt know whether I wanted to kiss or kill him! The plot thickened and twisted with a level of intrigue and magic that kept me guessing. The ending was brutally heartbreaking to me in some ways, but it definitely let me know that the story is far from over. This series checks all the boxes in requirements for a must read!

At the end of the last book, Winter discovered that she actually has Magic, she had it all along, but her psychopathic Father cast a powerful blocking spell on her, preventing her from using it, as he was worried what she might be capable of. Now with the blocking spell removed, Winter has to try and play catch up, for most people with Magic have been learning how to use it since they were little, Winter has been using it for the last couple of days.
Did anyone say learning curve? And this leads to some amusing parts in the book, especially in the opening sequences when we get to see and learn about Winters attempts at Magic.
It’s a case of, “Hey what’s the worst that could happen, I mean, if she has her fingers in the slightly wrong place, Magic is totally forgiving right?” “Sorry, can you put that fire out yourself, or did you need a Hazmat Team?”
Humour has been used as a key part of this series with exceptional skill, making for a story that is not only really engaging, but a lot of fun to read. French keeps the dialogue between the Characters snappy and alive with sarcasm (especially from Winter), that leaves you either laughing or with a smirk on your face as you whip through this book.
It gives the series a real edge as French is seriously gifted with inserting humour in all the right spots.
Without giving too much away (no spoilers), at the start of this second book, Winter, Frankie and Jason are still trying to get past the events of Book #1, as well as trying to keep their jobs at the agency.
Things have been very strange at the agency, lots of weird incidents, the latest involving a strange little demon that is able to cast magic – something that Demon kind are not supposed to be able to do. Winter soon learns that this is only because her parent are involved.
Several other things occur, (I don’t want to give anything away really), that lead Winter, and her new Boss, Dax Murphy, into a trap designed by a crazy lunatic, one that they will have to fight for their lives to escape.
Winter is still angry at Dax for tricking her into kissing him with magic, but at the same time, has kind of strange thoughts when she looks into his big lovely eyes, right before screaming EWWWWW in her mind remembering she hates Dax Murphy, and then wondering when life got so confusing, and why is she stuck with him in this awful place!!
French does a wonderful job of delving into the minds of both Winter and Dax and giving us great insight into the Characters and their feelings and it is rather hilarious as both of them take a roller coaster ride of emotions about each other and the events going on around them.
It is not just the characters that are exceptional though, French has again created another remarkable world for her characters to play out their story in. The world building is stunning, with rich and stunning detail, incredibly in-depth, intricate details of each of the locations they are at, so that you really feel like you are in each of the places with them, looking around, and seeing what they see, or smelling what they…Ok, too much detail… Oh my god that smells bad…
Seriously, the descriptions are beautifully crafted, French has obviously sat down and not only given it great thought, but put a lot of thought into each of her locations before writing the story, so that she can easily recreate these amazing places for the reader.
The other really amazing aspect of this book that goes with the world building is the magic, and the combat sequences, which are just as extraordinary. French’s magic system is simple and elegant, allowing the reader to follow along with it and be a part of the fun, without it being overly complicated like some Fantasy series are prone to do.
The combat scenes are just amazing, with so much detail that you can visualise each and every movement, spell, and cutting strike. The scenes combine combat and magic to be a gritty portrayal of, at times rather bloody and brutal, fight for your life scenes, in which each of the characters are fighting for their lives and are lucky to come out the other side, if they actually do. Whilst the book has this incredible sense of humour running through it, and this is wound into the combat sequences at times, the fights are ferocious, and vicious, and it is not guaranteed who is going to win, and you find yourself glued to the pages, drinking the words in and literally flipping pages like a fan to find out what happens.
This is a fascinating story, with a lot of intrigue, stunning world building and even better characters. Winter is again struggling to deal with her parents, and this time around, we get to actually hear from Dax Murphy, who has his own issues. Dax is a deeply trouble character, trapped not only by his ego and pride, but also by his deep love and the overriding desire to protect his sister at any cost. This most of all, guides his decisions, and in some cases, guides him in a very ‘wrong’ direction, and into dangerous territory, for him and others.
If you love urban fantasy, clever, well told stories with a wicked sense of humour, and extraordinary characters, you will love this book. Even if you just love a good story, a good mystery, or great world building, this series has something for everyone. Part 3 drops soon, so make sure to get into this series soon, you won’t be disappointed!!

Ass kicking good time

I thought this book and second in a series was a wild good time. Winter is the heroin of this series and knows how to kick ass as well as have a snarky sense of humor while battling demons and evil family members. A must read by Katie French.

I enjoyed part two of this series. The main character is bold, snarky take no prisoners type of girl. I’m so here for it! Can’t wait for book three.

Kickass mc

I can't wait to read the third book in the series. Winter keeps taking a beating and keeps showing the world they can't stop her.

Love the series , cant wait for the next one.

Love this genre. Did not give 5 stars because I'm not that big of a fan of Dax or the romance in the book. Winter deserves better.
