General Tolis Smoke grew up in the military minded Order of Intergalactic Peace. The military order, along with the two men he called brothers, the only constants in his life.
Only what happens when he finds out the cause he dedicated his life for, that he fought, bled and killed for is not the benevolent leadership he believed them to be?
The General has never considered himself a hero but finding out he just might be one of the villains is going to take some getting used to, if he and his brothers survive long enough.
Sent on a mission his strategy powers are telling him is a trap he is tasked with finding a rebel in hiding. Instead he finds a mysterious woman with carnal lips, fierce will, and a past shrouded in tragedy. A past that intersects with his own.
Now he has a new cause and the OIP is about to find out the hard way what happens when The General has something truly worth fighting for.

Kelly Lucille is the author of paranormal and fantasy romance.
She has a B.A. Degree in Creative Writing and Literature from Naropa University.
Her first book "Keeping Her" published in July of 2013.

On a more personal note- I read my first romance novel: "Shanna" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss when I was 13 years old. I still read it every year or so just to remember how amazing a really good romance novel can make you feel.

3.5 stars.

I had such high expectations because I loved ‘The Healer’. Unfortunately this book didn’t quite reach those lofty heights 😆 It was a decent read but the storyline, the characters and the romance - just none of it - was as good as book one. It wasn’t bad, just not as good.
Strangely, the beginning of this book was all from Meg’s POV - but she wasn’t actually the heroine of this book 🤷‍♀️ So then the POV switches and never goes back to Meg. I don’t know what the purpose of that was. I don’t think it added anything to the book (maybe it’s for people who haven’t read the healer? I don’t know, but it was weird and confusing).
I hope the next book is better!! Please 🤞🤞

Overall... I’m a bit disappointed to be honest.

Let’s start with the good- Sasha and Tolis were fine leads. The story was fine. It was all fine?

I don’t understand what the author attempted to do by having Serenity and then Meg have the first few POVs? It was just kind of confusing. Maybe the author was trying to set the third book up so it makes sense why Meg is now with the rebels... but it felt really poorly executed and clunky. And hella info dumpy. I wish there was something more satisfying in the ending? It didn’t really resolve in a way where I was like “ok!” Instead it was “uh okkkkkkkkk....” you know?

A somewhat enjoyable sci-fi romance.

This novel was a mixed bag. I thought the plot was tight and exciting, and the hero was deliciously alpha while the heroine was strong and powerful in her own right. These two characters had great chemistry. However, there were two major problems with this novel. The editing was absolutely terrible for an author who is at this stage in her career. There is no excuse for it, considering how many novels she has published. The second major problem is that this novel ended on a cliffhanger where nothing either plot wise or relationship wise had truly been resolved. This is the first series written by the author that has cliffhanger endings, and I am decidedly not a fan.

Brilliant

Love this series, so original and refreshing. Lots of plots and story line is amazing. Loved the General how he loved Sasha but didn’t turn into a weak kneed idiot, he stayed true to his character. Can’t wait for Meg’s story. This series is reminiscent of the Tellox series another favourite!

Excellent storytelling!
I am enthralled by this series! This second book of the series expands on the original world-building. We meet Lady Sasha and get a closer view of The General and Quinn. Sasha’s abilities are incredible, potentially devastating. I wonder how good her control is? With the OID Council breathing down their necks, Sasha and General Tolis face one challenge after another. This is edge-of-your-seat action, with a generous serving of hot romance. Don’t miss this! I’m already eagerly anticipating the next episode in this thrilling series!

The General

I really enjoyed this book but I felt that the ending was more of a cliff hanger. Tolis you had no doubts about his feelings for Sasha. But Sasha just came to some resolutions about her feelings for Tolis and the story ended before you had their declarations of love. The overall story line is pretty awesome and I really can't wait to read the next book so we can find out what happens with them. The world building is so intriguing and fascinating. I would recommend this book and this series.

Would be 5 stars with better editing

The story line is great however, the book is in need of better editing. It is a shame such a wonderful story with really great world building is not properly edited.

Good book

This was a good second book in this series. Love that the general got his own story and he met his match. Hopefully the rest of the soldiers get their minds free. Can’t wait for next book. Good writer

The General

I can’t stop reading these books! Great storyline with believable characters who are strong and not wimpy! You become vested in the story even knowing there is a HEA. Good series. Sigh…now the wait for the next story….

Great world building, horrible editing, rushed ending

I was torn between giving 2 or 3 stars for this book, but ultimately went with 3 because the core of the story and the world building is very well done. Lucille's mix of magic and sci-fi is fun, and the water magic described here was very exciting.

After the first book in this series, I told myself I'd give it one more book, assuming that the editing would improve. Unfortunately, the editing was as terrible as it was in book one: severe lack of commas, misused commas when they did appear, fragments, run-ons, etc. I don't know if anyone is editing the series for the author, but if not, it really, REALLY, needs an editor (and if so, it needs a new editor).

The plot is enjoyable, but the grammatical errors massively detract from the experience and pull you out of the story. The ending is a cliffhanger for the overarching plot -- which is fine -- but it happens so suddenly (also like in book one) that you're left unfulfilled. Some more finality to the book's plot and the main characters' relationship would've rounded things out.

If you're invested in this series, definitely give it a read. If you're new to it, run far, far away, at least until the books get a real editor.

A new pattern for Ms. Lucille?

First, review of The General...
This is the beginning of the story of General Toni's Smoke, who was introduced in The Healer. He is sent to a planet on unknown pretenses to "scope out the land", specifically a certain woman. This woman, who, like Serenity, has managed to hide her powers. This becomes a slow burn romance, which is obviously a sub-plot of the story of the OIP and rebels, an interesting story line. I really do like this premise.
Now, my one reason for not giving this 5 stars- once again, we have been left hanging. I complained of the cliffhanger type ending of The Healer, and the same thing has happened hear. I love a great series, which Ms. Lucille has mastered in the past. But, the difference between her previous series and this one is that those really had a satisfying ending of each story, making each one possible to be read as a stand alone. I do not have that HEA feeling I love about her other books.
That said, this book was released quicker than the books in previous series. Will I read them immediately, though? Not unless the description tells me it will be the last in the series.

So many problems with this book I like the writing style overall, but I feel like everything else just flopped. Honestly, I felt wary as soon as I saw the cover art.
So many typos... why were there so many typos? I felt like whoever checks for that didn’t care. They even used the wrong name for the main character at least once (they used they previous books MC name). And even I noticed the sentence structure was weird. I don’t notice things as a rule, especially if the story was good, the the lack and misuse of commas in this book grates on me. I sometimes had to read sentences multiple times to make sense of them, and that would only work if I guessed where the comma should go.
The first 6 chapters focused on a different pair of characters. I can understand wanting to tie up the loose ends of the previous book in a prologue or using the first chapter, but the first 6? I thought the book would be about them. And the transition to the main set of characters was so choppy.
Transitions were bad. The plot made very little sense. The characters acted very strangely a lot and with no explanation. The book was just weird.

Great SIFI Dystopian Military romance series.
General Tolis Smoke, "The General". A member of Lord Mal Ryn's Phoenix Guard. Has been with Mal since childhood, and is one of his best friends. His talent is strategy. Free of the Council's mind control . Mal and the Phoenix are allying with the rebel Nolan Rand. They have to be very careful. When the Tolis is ordered on a solo mission to investigate a women on a back water desert planet, he has no choice but to go. Spymaster Quinn, 'The Ghost", is going with him as his aid. They suspect Councilor Frodic, like Tolis, a tactician, is behind the order. The reason, there are many possibilities and none of the good.
Sasha Brill is a powerful water witch. She ties to the Rebellion, but is not a member. She is in hiding. She has created an Oasis and lodging house. Provides water to the tribes for free and in turn she has their protection. She provides work and shelter to a few women who need it. The arrival of Merchant Tolis and his aid Quinn, has her guard up. She can't help but find him attractive.
Tolis stakes his claim. Sasha runs. Tolis has to to play the ultimate game of strategy against Fordic to save her.
Loved Tolis and Sasha's story. Fast paced, and a little steamy. Does follow events from the Healer, so not a good stand alone story. Can't wait for Meg's story. She has been placed in the care of Nolan Rand to provide healing and a chance to recover. She has sparked Nolan's interest, much to the dismay of the Phoenix guards, Hunter, Jas and Shield, Flinn, who both have become very protective of her . Then their is Quinn who is in the wind.

So disappointed

When I read the sample it absolutely read like this was Megs storyline but with Smoke on the cover???. .So I bought it, but No, the author just threw in the first 2 chapters of Meg as a red herring and went off in a completely new direction. The story was mediocre with a new FMC doing a ''will she or won't she''' dance the ENTIRE book, I'm not kidding. New rule to Writers, Once you write them doing the wild thing...you shouldn't be allowed to have an FMC change her mind over and over again just to fill pages... I guess I'll never know what happens to Meg cause this one was just bland and I'm not buying the next one.

One of the best romantic sci-fi writers.

I love Kelly Lucille as books and this one didn't let me down. She has the back of taking you on a trip to other worlds with characters you fall in love with. So far I think this is her finest series yet. If you enjoy romantic sci-fi this series is a must read.

The General

The Order of Intergalactic Peace is an adventure in each book.
Each book is about a different woman with magical abilities.
So all of you readers who enjoy magic will love this series, plus
fans of scifi are catered to also.
Then there is adventurous escapes, murderers, evil power hungry villians, and lots more.

Disappointing

I buy Kelly Lucille books, pre-order month's ahead. Rarely do I regret the purchase. This one mixed characters so often there was confusion on who belonged with whom!

Though this too ends in sorry of a cliff hanger, I am liking this gripping series. If next is Meg's story, then we'll have to wait to know what happened to Quinn. Can't wait.

This book is an installment in a soap

This book is an installment in a soap, but it's a good one . Author and reader are in a two way my relationship. I understand that Kelly needs to build fans. But, I would pay for a real book now.
