Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review
3.5 stars.
“The Wrangler’s Ready-Made Family: Wyoming Legacy”, by Lacy Williams, is a quick, enjoyable, sweet read with a wary heroine and a very caring and thoughtful hero.
I found the circumstances Susie and Gil meet enthralling, anticipating the characters’ resilience.
In the beginning, there’s a sadness about Gil that is hard to face. His acceptance of his fate and the need for human company and closeness were touching.
He’s a great hero, extremely protective of the heroine and the children but without the usual cockiness alphas show. The eagerness to learn and woo the heroine is endearing.
I also liked the tenderness with the children even if he’s not used to them.
Susie was not a very nice person sometimes – understandably so because of her disastrous marriage - but her mama bear instincts were admirable.
The way Gil’s disease was solved felt too schematic even if believable

This was a sweet short story, almost like a novella. I read it in one sitting so if you are looking for a short quick read then this might be the book for you. I really enjoyed the characters and the way that the story showed redemption for Susie. The story moves rather quickly so that was my only complaint but if you haven't read a Lacy Williams story I think this could be a great start!

Although this story is the latest in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone novel. If you have read the book directly before it, Winning the Schoolmarm, you will have had a peek into the life of Susie a few times in that book and directly at the end of that story, as well. She made some very foolish decisions. In The Wrangler’s Ready-Made Family, the reader will see exactly how those bad decisions have affected her life.

I really liked the marriage of convenience situation that Susie and Gil ended up in. Susie turned out to be an excellent, loving mother and it was so sweet to see how she cared for her two young children. Gil showed himself to be a kind and caring man through almost every interaction with Susie and her children. I loved the way he cared for them all.

There were some misunderstandings and some worries and concerns that caused strife at various times throughout the story, but I really liked the way their relationship progressed. At the end of the book, I felt like Susie and Gil’s story needed just a bit more resolution, such as their own epilogue, or something along that line before the peek into the next story.

(4.5 stars)

Widowed and pregnant, Susie accepts Boone's proposal of a marriage of convenience to give her young family security, but will Boone's secrets be their undoing?

A western romance of new beginnings and second chances. Susie has already been through a lot of heartache with her first husband, a man who broke her trust over and over again. She carries shame from that relationship, but has fond hope through her faith and I admired how she tried to make the best of every situation, working hard to care for herself and her daughter.

The title of the book is a little misleading in that Boone isn't a cowboy or wrangler of any kind. Boone is a gambler, who has lived most of his life in the city, he is intelligent and resourceful. He is an honorable man despite the stigma of his profession, he takes care of his new family and is supportive of Susie throughout.

Overall, a western romance of fresh starts, faith, family and forgiveness. I liked both Susie and Boone, and the natural growth of their relationship throughout the story. Carrie is so adorable! A highly enjoyable read!

This was a sweet short book! I read it in less than an hour and I really enjoyed it. The Ranger's Ready Made Family is the 15th book in Lacy Williams Wild Rivers Hearts series. Although it is part of a series it is standalone, I haven't read the other books and I don’t feel as if I missed a lot. There were parts when I wanted to learn more about the other characters' stories, but otherwise it is a great standalone book.
Susie was just trying to get her life back together and care for her children. She felt as if she was at her wits ends, but she couldn't go home because she had left on such bad terms. I liked reading about Susie as she learned from her mistakes and tried to make amends. She was trying her best to care for herself and her children. Susie had to learn to forgive her family and to trust that they still love her. She had to take a leap of faith and go home.
Gil was dying, he just wanted to make the last months of his life worth it. When he encounters a widow, he offers her his protection. Never expecting to fall for her and her two children. Gil was hard to understand at first, but as I read more about him I saw that he was a good man. He worked hard and he truly was kind. It was sweet to see him interact with Susie and Susie’s children, Carrie and Albert. He wanted what was best for them. But Gil would have to decide if Susie and her children were worth giving up his lifestyle.
Susie and Gil were both interesting characters. They were annoying at times but I understood them. I liked reading about them falling in love with each other. They saw past physical appearances and saw instead the kindness of the other. It was also sweet to read about Susie’s kids. They really added to the book. The plot was very interesting and there were some things that I didn’t see coming. Overall, this was a really good book. The Wrangler’s Ready-Made Family is a sweet romance. I would recommend it to those who like historical inspirational fiction. The characters were relatable and the storyline was engaging. I want to read more books by this author now!

"The Wrangler's Read-Made Family" by Lacy Williams
Just Go With the Flow
A good story just needs bit of polish to go from a 3 to a 5 star read. Although, there were areas of the story that were confusing to me, when I just went with the flow, I enjoyed this read. It is a compelling story and held my interest from start to finish. Yes, if I had been her editor, I would have made some suggestions. I would have suggested the word "Wrangler's" be changed to "Gambler's" for a start. Happy Reading ! !

I was intrigued to read this book because of the Synopsis of the storyline and the Book cover is absolutely beautiful. Also, Lacy Williams is a new to me author and I enjoy new Authors. The Wrangler's Ready-Made Family is Book 15 in the Wind River Hearts series.

Susie is a young widow who has one child and is pregnant with her second child. Her late husband created a mess with their finances, so she is struggling with what to do next for her little family. A Snowstorm cometh and she finds herself stuck in the storm with a stranger. She then realizes baby is coming and she has no other choice then to trust the stranger to help her. Boone is a newcomer to town, as he is seeking treatment for Tuberculosis. He helps Susie deliver the baby. They find themselves having to spend more time with each other and he is falling for Susie and her children. Susie is not sure she is ready for another relationship and not because of being of widow. Her late husband had a bad reputation and she was hurt. Boone has some secrets that Susie is finding out about. Will Susie break down the walls and allow Boone to be a part of her little family? Will there be a future for Boone and Susie? What are the secrets Boone has been hiding about himself?

I truly enjoyed this short story. It was a quick read, but packed a lot into the book. Susie has been through a lot in her life, but she shows how she has learned from her mistakes. Boone is a very strong man with a good heart, although he has a trouble past. He is gambler and that worries Susie. The way the 2 really put their trust in one another because they are stranded in a Snowstorm is really an amazing part of the storyline. The Wrangler's Ready-Made Family is part of a series. I have not read the other books in the series, but this book is a GREAT Standalone book. I am very interested in reading more in this series! GREAT BOOK!

The Wrangler’s Ready Made Family by author Lacy Williams is a Christian historical romance and Book 15 in the Wyoming Hearts Series. Even though it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. It is a rather short book which can be read quickly.

This is the story of Susie, Gil, and their marriage of convenience. They met on a stagecoach and are thrown together through an unfortunate situation. Susie has little money, a toddler, a defensive heart, and is very pregnant. Gil is a wealthy, handsome, very ill man. Put those two together and you have a recipe for a marriage of convenience. I was immediately invested in their story.

The characters are believable and realistic. I enjoyed the banter between Susie and Gil. The author has a nice writing style, but I would have liked more depth or details. She included some twists, surprises, and lessons that we all need to remember on forgiveness, love, truthfulness, trust, opening our hearts, redemption, and open communication. There were family and marital issues that were resolved in an inspirational manner.

While it was a good story that held my interest, it left me confused and wanting more. The story flowed along at a nice pace until the end where it felt rushed. The closing chapter was a totally different storyline than the other ones. It was like a preview to the next book. I wanted to finish reading about Gil and Susie, but their story was totally dropped in the last chapter.

I would recommend this book to historical fiction readers. Go into it knowing the last chapter is not really part of Susie and Gil’s story and you will not be disappointed. With some changes this could be a great book. Right now it gets a rating of 3.5 out of 5. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

This is the perfect story for those who like western theme books. It has adventure, a dashing hero , bad guys and a woman who needs help. I liked how the characters were developed and slowly grew to like each other. They complimented each other even though Susie was a little hesitant to trust Gil. I guess being left behind waiting for help may make you a little uncomfortable.

Susie has her hands full with a small child and another on the way. Gil is her best bet to survive until someone comes to rescue them. What a awkward position to be in as you go into labor in a dark cave with a strange man. I admired Susie’s strength as her new baby is born. Thinking about her giving birth made me chuckle a little. We have all these modern hospitals with everything you need to have a safe delivery. Susie had nothing but the help of a stranger. I guess I’m trying to say that nature knows what to do whether we are in a comfortable hospital bed or out in the range surrounded by caves.

Gil has been handed a death sentence from doctors and believes he has little time to live. What he does for Susie and her children was honorable and showed how we need to help others in need. The author gives us background on her ex husband who passed away. He made his money gambling and treated Susie with no respect. Gil is offering her a home and a future. Will she accept his offer? Can she trust him?

Grab a copy of this story to find out what happens next. It is filled with hope, secrets and a lesson in trust. I need to go back and read the other books in this series. The author makes the time period come to life and I love a well written marriage of convenience story.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

This was such a good old west story about troubles that a marriage of convenience could fix that turns into a true love romance. This story was about a woman who was very hurt from her late husband and left alone pregnant with a small child, estranged from her family that she really has no place to go but up hoping to start afresh in a new town. Well, life keeps throwing hurdles for Susie to jump through and she has just about reached her limit.

On the same stagecoach sits one Gil Hart who is a gambler by profession and dying from consumption. After surviving a snow storm stranded in a cave with Susie and her children, Gil comes up with a perfect plan where he doesn't have to be alone in his sickness and Susie and her babies will be provided for. He just has to convince her this is a great plan. And then both need to try very hard not to fall in love in this loveless and hopeless situation.

This was a delightful romance and I enjoyed seeing these two do just the opposite of what they had planned.

A story full of family, regret, second chances and illness.
When the stage she is traveling in with her young daughter gets stranded, Susie becomes worried especially when snow begins to fall. The driver has assigned certain passengers the horses to ride five miles into the next town. Why did he leave a man with consumption and a pregnant woman with a small child to fend for themselves?
The three of them walk in the blinding snow to a cave found past a grove of trees. Crawling room only! It’s several days before the driver comes back for them.
Susie has lived through some trying times in her life but trying to survive with a total stranger puts her nerves on edge.
Gil knows he only has a short time to live. He wants to help Susie but she is resistant. The two of them have family issues from the past and “secrets” yet to be told.
It is great reading when the characters come alive for me right between the pages. My time was enjoyable and well spent while reading this novel.

"The Wrangler’s Ready-Made Family" by Lacy Williams is a feel good read but ends in a cliff hanger and it is also the 15th book in the "Wind River Hearts" series. I haven't read any of the other books in this series. But, after reading this book I want too.
This is a story of a marriage of convenience but turns quickly into more. I really liked this story but I thought Carrie was really well advanced for just being two. I won't explained why, you'll just have to read the book and see if you agreed with me.

I thought the two different types of gambler's characteristic were interesting to compare.

The "garlic cure" makes me really wonder why sometimes doctors don't use the old proven methods of healing.

There were a couple of scenes in the novel that really kept me glued to the edge of my chair and made me think "I am not going to like the outcome of this. I am happy to report that I ended up rejoicing with the characters in the book.

I think if you like a fast clean romance, then this book is for you.

What I think you should know:
The Wrangler's Ready Made Family is a Historical Christian Romance by Lacy Williams. It is the fifteenth book in the Wind River Hearts series and while it does give spoilers for other books in the series it can be read as a standalone novel. This book features Susie Crowell and is set in 1909.

What you might need to know:
Susie got pregnant out of wedlock prior to this book.
I kept waiting for the Wrangler, however instead of a cowboy there was a gambler.

What I think about think book:
What a crazy story, but somehow it worked! The story was short, but sweet. While Susie was sometimes hard to like, I admired her strength. I hate to think what kind of creeps would leave a heavily pregnant woman to give birth in the wilderness, but I was glad to see that Gil did everything he could to protect her during her ordeal. Gil was a much easier character to like and helped me overlook some of Susie’s abrasiveness. I think that I would enjoy other books in the series.

The Wrangler’s Ready-Made Family is a Christian Historical Romance written by Lacy Williams. I believe this is the first book that I have read by this author. This is book 15 in the Wind River Hearts series. This is a quick read at 156 pages. I was able to complete this book waiting for an appointment one day. I did not feel lost having not read the other books in the series.

Susie is a young widow. She is expecting another child. Her late husband was not good for much. He didn't leave her with much and she is afraid and ashamed to go back to her family. Susie constantly compares herself to her sister. She does not feel like she will measure up.

Gil is trying to heal. He is drawn to Susie and her children. He has a past and holds back some of his life. Susie worries about getting involved with a man that could potentially hurt her or her children's future.

This was a good quick read, especially if you like historical fiction. The author did great research to ensure that it was as accurate as possible.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program, all thoughts are my own.

I truly enjoyed Susie and Gil's story. When there is a stagecoach accident in the middle of a blizzard, you'd think a 9-month pregnant woman with a young child would be the first one to be helped, but no! The other people on the stagecoach, except Gil, just take the horses and leave her there to "make do"! I couldn't be it and neither could Gil. Gil is someone who is sure he's going to die from consumption since all the doctors have told him so. He figures his last act can be helping Susie and her young child through this blizzard until they can get to the next city so they find a cave to hole up in. Susie never expects to actually give birth - oops! Susie has made a tons of mistakes in her life and she's not going to get close to another man ever again. When Gil proposes a marriage of convenience until he dies, Susie is leery. Gil encourages Susie to make up with her estranged family. I loved these characters and the lessons of forgiveness. This author writes such awesome stories! I love every one of them!

This is the 15th book in the Wild Wyoming Hearts series. If it’s been awhile since you read #14, Winning the Schoolmarm, you may want to skim it again to remind yourself of all that happens to Susie in that book. This book starts up about 3 years after the end of Winning the Schoolmarm, and focuses on Susie. Williams has written a believable story of a marriage of convenience, with a hero sure he’s dying of consumption, and a heroine at the end of her rope financially and emotionally. Lots of plot twists – stagecoach crash, snowstorm, giving birth in a cave, cattle stampede to name a few. There’s good insights in forgiveness – both others and oneself, trust, telling the truth, learning to communicate, and other essential aspects of love and marriage.

I had a hard time putting the book down, and look forward to the next one in the series!

5 stars, Marriage convenient for whom?

THE WRANGLERS READY-MADE FAMILY: WYOMING LEGACY
by Lacy Williams

This book is part of a series, I haven't read any other of the books, this one is a perfect standalone.

Susie and Gil meet on a stagecoach, traveling through Wyoming. Susie is a young, pregnant widow, with a toddler-aged girl. Gil is suffering from consumption, knowing that he will be dead all too soon. They get stranded in a small, remote cave after a stagecoach crash in the snow. Susie has her new baby, a son, with only Gil's help.

Gil finds out that Susie is all alone and wants to help her, asking for a marriage of convenience, so that she and her children will receive all of Gil's worldly belongings when he passes on.

This is an original, delightful novel. Highly recommend.

The Wrangler's Ready-Made Family by Lacy Williams is book 15 in the Wild River Hearts series. This is a series that covers different members of the White family. This is a sweet shorter Christian historical romance story of a young expecting widow, Susie White Crowell, who is taking her young daughter to stay with a friend. The stage coach has an accident and they are left to stay in a small cave with another one of the passenger.
This is a sweet story to read in an evening just for the fun of it. Even though it is part of a series, this is also a good stand alone story. The author does a fantastic job of filling in the family history that it is easy to follow along. While the topic of gambling is very prominent, it is a good clean story with some twists and turns that kept my attention. I appreciate Susie's opinion of the money made from gambling.

I must be honest, I didn't expect to enjoy this book nearly as much as I did. Oh sure, I thought it sounded like a good story and I expected I would like it... just not nearly as much as I actually did once I started reading. I was very quickly drawn into the lives of Susie and Boone. Their characters were very well written and I found myself wanting to see what happened next... and what had happened in the past to bring them to that point.

While this is the fifteen book in the series, I had not previously read any of the previous novels and found this read just fine as a standalone. I found it had a very quick paced that helped to keep me engaged in the story in a way that stories set in this time frame don't often.

Overall, I thought this was an enjoyable read and one that fans of historical romance are sure to enjoy.

Sometimes our pride and fear trap us in what seems to be a hopeless situation. Susie, a mother of one with a second one on the way finds herself in such a situation. This historical Christian work of fiction me into Susie’s life

Trapped by a snowstorm after a stagecoach accident, Susie relies on Gil Boone when her baby decides to arrive. Suffering from tuberculosis, Boone traveled west for healing. This book examines forgiving ourselves, faithful restoring relationships, and discovering love while relying on God.

I must say I loved Gil’s interactions with Susie and her family. The author did an incredible job creating a world I wanted to keep reading about. As part of a series, I definitely recommend this book. If you enjoy Christian historical fiction, check it out for yourself.

I really do enjoy a good marriage for convenience story because there is always so much the characters have to learn about each other. I didn't realize this was part of a series until I looked up the author and it can be read just fine as a stand alone story. Susie is in a mess. Widowed and pregnant with her husband leaving everything in a terrible mess.

Boone is a good guy but is going through his own issues. I like how he and Susie meet and the circumstances that basically throw them together. He is so sweet with her and her kids. I can understand some of Susie's reactions because of her marriage and the issues that stemmed from that, but he was patient and kind. Overall, I just enjoyed the book.

The Wrangler's Ready-Made Family is the fifteenth installment from Lacy Williams’s series, Wind River Hearts. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I adored Susie and Gil’s story. It was so sweet, fun, entertaining and delightful. I loved the chemistry between the main characters. It is not a long read and I had no problem having it read in one sitting. A wonderful way to spend a rainy day. I loved it!

Gil and Susie were an endearing couple. Susie has had some past trauma from her marriage that the author captured well going on. I enjoyed that it wasn’t insta love and the couple got to know each other.

I do feel the title is a little misleading as Gil is not a cowboy at all. Neither was Susies first husband from reading it. I also thought the cave birthing scene was a little too easy or quick? I think I would have preferred a flashback of Susie remembering it then going through it. It just didn’t flow to me.

I enjoyed meeting Susie’s family and having them surround them. It was kind of full circle having her go home and be with family. I would have liked to see the same on his side as well.

Overall it was a sweet romantic read.

Susie is not sure this was her best idea as she is traveling in a stagecoach, pregnant and with a small child. When the stagecoach has an accident, the most unlikely person steps up to help her and her family.

Gil thinks he can do one last good deed before he dies when he steps up to help Susie and her family. Little do Susie and Gil know, this one little accident may be just what they needed.

What a sweet story by Lacy Williams. A stranded heroine, a cantankerous hero and adorable children all make for one beautiful story about forgiveness and how the most unlikely people can fall in love. Although this was book is part of the Wild Wyoming Hearts series, it can be read as a stand alone novel as Ms. Williams does an excellent job of filling in the backstory when necessary. My thanks to Lacy Williams for a complimentary copy of the book to read and review.

The Wrangler's Ready-Made Family: Wyoming Legacy (Wind River Hearts Book 15) by Lacy Williams gives the reader a wonderful heartwarming clean romance. Two people who have endured tough times find friendship and love. Susie is a tough woman who has endured hardships but will do anything to keep her children safe. You have to admire that besides the women who went west had to be resilient and determined too. Gil is a great character with such a tenderness towards the children.

A short novel around 150 pages or so, it is an enjoyable story with a perfect twist near the conclusion.

The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

nice read

This was a nice, sweet, romance book to read. Lacy Williams wrote this book very well. Susie is a widower with a baby on the way, and a mother of a little girl. She is on the stagecoach in the middle of a snowstorm, heading to a friends house. Gil is a gambler who is very sick and is going to die shortly from it. He is on the stage alone with others. The stagecoach breaks down and the driver decides to leave Gil, Susie and her daughter behind the others are to go get help. Susie gives birth in a cave, gets married to Gil, all in a matter of days. Then she finds her family. All because Gil is going to die. Things happen in this book even a stampede. A very nice read that you will enjoy.

Set in Montana in 1909, The Wrangler’s Ready-Made Family is another sweet romantic offering from gifted storyteller Lacy Williams. Susie Crowell, plagued by bad choices in her past, is seeking a fresh start vowing never to be reliant on another man. Can a marriage of convenience to a man she hardly knows secure her and her children’s futures? The well-structured plot, wonderfully endearing characters, and tender romance combine to make a satisfying, inspiring reading experience. If you are looking for a quick yet moving read, try this one.

This book started off really well. Susie was a sympathetic relatable character. I loved how the relationship developed between Gil and Susie and I especially loved how Gil cared for Susie's children.

The ending felt rushed and alot was left unresolved. I would have loved to have seen Gil reconnect with his family and I felt his illness resolved too easily. I was also surprised when the last chapter was actually not connected to the story taking place but was instead about another relative. This should be an excerpt or sneek peak.

This was an okay read, I would prefer a better conclusion but I would still recommend it.
