Desperately in need of inspiration, deadline-plagued author Lucy Bridges dives into the captivating world of Club Drift. Hidden in London, the glamorous BDSM club is the perfect place to conduct research, but she soon finds long buried desires resurfacing.
William Jones, founding member and fierce protector of the club's members, suspects the interloper, until he begins falling for her.
Will honesty prevail in this story of love, transformation, and intimacy? Or will they pretend it's just research forever?
I liked it. There were a few pacing issues for me towards the end. Overall a good love build that felt authentic! I really liked the little side romance too. A quibble for me, that pulled me out of the story, was the face slapping BUT and this is a HUGE but, that is MY hang up. Honestly, I've never read that in a BDSM book prior to this, at least not one that I wasn't shutting half way through because the writing was such garbage or it was more of a rape fantasy book tied up in a BDSM bow to try and get a new demo to read. The book as a whole was really great. I'm a true sucker for a club series and this one has drawn me back into that sub genre of romance I had left for a bit.
Kink club romances have fascinated me for a while now. Authors Elodie Hart, Sara Cate, Sierra Simone, Sierra Cartwright, and Adriana Anders have been my longtime favorites, and now Saffron Hayes is one of my best of the best.
For so many reasons. For the crackling good banter, for the emotional depth of the relationships, for the vivid, warm friendships, for the brilliantly colloquial British English, for the sexiest adherence to RACK ever, and for the deliciously filthy love scenes, I highly recommend both Club Drift books.
What can I say? This is one of the best books I've read in the genre. The characters are fun and different. The camaraderie is appealing and the dialogue heartfelt. The premise of the book lends itself to learning more about the world it inhabit. I makes me wish it was a real place. The one missing piece is I wish I knew what happened to Lucy that caused her anxiety attacks.
1. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first; it was a little too intense for me. I just can't identify with either a Dom who enjoys scaring and hurting someone he supposedly loves, or a sub who enjoys being frightened and injured by someone she loves. 2. William said several times that he was not a sadist yet he clearly enjoyed inflicting "searing" pain on Lucy. 3. William was supposed to be an experienced Dom yet he purposely held Lucy's mouth closed when she was trying to tell him that the pegs were too painful and she wanted him to take them off. What kind of Dom makes it impossible for a sub to safeword?
