"Isabella Cross, you will replace your sister Eden and marry Hunter." There was a dead silence in the crowd, a silence that travelled all the way to my heart. The quietness did nothing to calm the blood drumming in my ears at the unexpected news. Those were the last words I ever expected to hear. They were words that I didn't know would completely change my life forever. I wasn't the only shocked one in the crowd. My sister Lucy's mouth was wide open as she held onto her husband Austin for support. My other sister Eden had a guilty and horrified look on her face. I could tell that she was already blaming herself for the sudden turn of events. Her mate James had his arms wrapped around her as he sent a deadly glare Hunter's way. When I had helped Eden escape from her own wedding to be with James, the last thing I was expecting was to have to take her place. I knew the council would try something crazy but this... This, I wasn't expecting. I understood that they needed to fulfill their end of the deal and get Hunter married to someone linked to the council, I just didn't think that they would be so quick to choose me. I had no idea how to feel about the matter. I realized that no one was saying anything. I had to speak up before Eden said something that could ruin her relationship with her mate. She wouldn't live with herself if she thought that she was destroying my life by being with James. I couldn't let her take that blame. "You can't do that!" Hunter roared suddenly before I could respond. His voice shook the entire room so much that even some of the servants took a step back. He was angry; I could tell by the way his chest moved and the veins that threatened to pop on his arms. But for some reason I also sensed a hint of panic in his voice. As far as I knew, Hunter never showed any type of emotion. I must be imagining things. His immediate rejection for some reason made my stomach churn uncomfortably. I tried to hide my obvious distress at his words. I hated the look on his face at just the proposal of getting married to me. Was it really that bad to consider being tied to me? I shouldn't care. . . . . .
My favorite book of this series so far. I loved the first (The Alpha Prince and his bride) the second was okay (The Alpha and his Forbidden bride) but I absolutely loved this book. I truly enjoyed Isabella. Her character and her attitude were my favorite. Hunter was a great character. He is brave, brutal, fair and strong.
I like the plot with Maggie and her revenge. I did not, however, like Maggie's revenge when she used Isabella. I just felt like it would be hard for Hunter to fall for the same trick twice.
I enjoyed the way Hunter fought his feelings for Isabella. Isabella did a good job earning his trust and affection. I'm very intrigued to read the following book.
Although she is not a published writer, LaurG is getting better and better with every book of hers I read. Her skills are improving and so is her story telling. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.
I thoroughly enjoy the novel. It’s well written, the characters have depth and their arcs develop beautifully. It’s extremely frustrating to wait for new chapters to be loaded weekly and the fact that by the end of each novel you’ve paid four or five times the price of a published novel is a bit of a kick to the teeth.
Again, Laura G has written one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. This has honestly has to be my favorite book in the series. I absolutely love Hunter and Isabella being mates. Must read if you haven’t.
I think this is the best one so far! Excellent job Laura! You have such a great imagination and are working through all of your health issues to bring joy to your readers.
This book is so far my favorite in this saga, Isabella is a strong leading character and you can't help but agree that she was meant for Hunter in every way.
Their love was hot and heavy and their fights were filled with nothing but sexual tension.
This book had lots of up and downs and plot twist that came with it and I can't wait to read what the author has planned for Maya's book.
This is the second book by this author that I’ve read, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them both! The stories are very well thought out and the characters are well developed. This is the third book in the series (I’ve only read the first one) and while there is some cross referencing of author characters, it truly can be read as a stand-alone! Looking forward to more from this author!
This is not a book where there’s a lot of character development or complex story telling. It’s a super easy, short read. It’s certainly not a GREAT book, but there were 3 in a series and I read them all. I give it 3 stars because it’s worth a read (knowing it’s short, easy, and predictable ahead of time) but not something I’m going to read again.
I think the female characters in this author's work consistently bend to their partners will waaaayyyy to much but the plot is good. This was my favorite book in the series.
I was reading it on YouTube but I can't continue because chapter 19-21 are missing....I was so enjoying it. Out of the sisters I love Isabella the most.
I read this book on one of those ‘pay per chapter’ apps.
Another good book by Laura G. As always it is well written with a decent story line and well developed characters. In this book the FL steps in for her sister in an arranged marriage to an notorious alpha the council thought would be more controllable if he was married. There is a lot of misunderstandings between the two, mostly because they are mates but she can't feel it yet and he can so he avoids her even though she is his wife as he doesn't want her to cloud his judgement or something. Worth the read.
This is the third book and this series and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely say it is my favorite book of the series. Can't wait for the next book.
