The story setup was pretty nice. It always is.

A young boy embarks on a camp to a forest with his sister and school authorities. Only that is rumored to be more than just a camp. It is a survival battle.

Snakes and plot twists are as good as they can be!

But the end came and that was abrupt. Well that is, again, always is.

You know what they say in my lane, "You never know with Goosebumps".

Right, the end comes and settles the story. Then begins the Horrorland from where it left off in part #8. You may consider reading this in chronological order.

(The theme is that one protagonist from each book of the series joins the terror park as a VIP guest).

Entertaining with the snakes and metamorphosis. Got me hooked up till the very end. End could have been more descriptive.

Still no complains. R. L. Stine is a master of awkward closures.

I know you're supposed to read these in order, but whatever, it was fine. The only thing that bugged me is venomous and poisonous were used interchangeably, like they are synonymous, but they are not. Otherwise it was fun and I didn't guess what was actually going on.

You didn't think that I just stopped after reading two books of Goosebumps, did you? Nah, I just had to go and pick up another one, albeit one from a different series. And now I'm dying to read this entire series. I guess, Goosebumps: Horrorland is the only series that is related to each other (sort of). And probably that is why I want to try it ASAP. I remember highlights from the previous novels, a few of which I had read. (Or maybe they were latter novels. I'm not quite sure now, so many years later.) Whatever they were, I rather enjoyed myself and am now jumping up and down to start off with the remaining books by R.L. Stine as soon as I get my time. But of course, who on earth has time here, right? And that is why all that I will do is sit and brood until my studies slow down and I can make sense of things, haha!

In any case, this part of Goosebumps wasn't particularly unnerving. Yes, there was this one pretty gore sight and the end was pretty scary too for I was worried about the protagonist but overall, it was okay-ish. Welcome to Camp Slither did not raise in me the kind of terror it probably should have raised. Or maybe it just had too many snakes in it that I ended up disliking it more than being scared of it. (Believe me, I'm a chicken. I'm still scared of the things in Goosebumps sometimes. For Example, when in I Am Your Evil Twin, the uncle says that his twin is his cousin, only for him to realize that there is someone else impersonating him, things start to get a little gory for him. Yes, definitely scary for me.)

Overall, though, it was a nice read and I enjoyed it. Perhaps, the second part of it was more enjoyable than the first but then, who am I kidding? The second part was in HORRORLAND!!

Book review rough draft
Goosebumps: Welcome to Camp Slither
By R.L. Stine

Goosebumps: Welcome to camp slither by R.L. Stine is an exciting and adventurous book that makes you want to read it over and over again. It is very anticipating. I just love the series that goes with this book. The genre of this book is horror, it sends a creepy chill down your spine.
The protagonist of this book is a young boy named Boone. He is very brave doesn’t get afraid very easily. Some of the minor characters are Boone’s sister Heather, and another boy named Roddy. Roddy is always holding a rabbit’s leg for “comfort”, and is very tense. Boone meets Roddy on a bus that’s on its way to a camp named Camp Hither. Roddy tells Boone that horrible things happen at the camp. He said things about snakes and that the camps real name is camp slither. Boone just assumes that Roddy reads way too many comic books. At the camp Boone later finds that Roddy is right!
I think that this book really illustrates that there are some people that you can’t trust. Boone learns that you must choose to trust the right people. I think this is a very important lesson and hope that I can apply it to my life. Trust is a very strong word. We must choose wisely who we want to trust. It was difficult at the beginning to find a theme or lesson for life in this book, but I found it. I am really glad I read this book!
I strongly believe that the author of this book (R.L. Stine) achieved his purpose successfully. This book really does make you nervous but exited about what happens next. I have read most of the other books in this awesome series. I have recently noticed that each book ends with a scary cliffhanger. It’s too bad the books don’t have sequels. It’s just a series of single story books. The Goosebumps series is known to many people all over the world. It is really cool and R.L. Stine uses very descriptive words like when he described Roddy on the bus.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I really do encourage you to read this book and maybe some of the other Goosebumps books. They will pull your mind into them. Your eyes won’t want to leave the pages. This series is fascinating! If you ever get a chance to check out a book, you might want to consider a Goosebumps book. Thanks a bunch for reading this review.

The kids are back to school and we are back to reading the Goosebumps Horrorland series. This book was about a snaky summer camp and kept the kids entertained. But, my favorite part is when the Horrorland story continues. We accidentally read book 9 before 8 so we will be reading 8 next.

It was suprisingly funny because the characters in all the books (exept the ones that went missing) were trying to escape but got caught by horrors (monster workers at horror land) I would rate this a 9.5 out of 10

During our thrift store adventures, we've been lucky enough to find a bunch of Goosebumps books, and this one is part of the Horrorland collection.

I used to read Goosebumps to my daughter when she was in primary school. And years before that, I used them to tutor English to kids.

So, of course I'm interested in checking out all the ones I haven't read.

WELCOME TO CAMP SLITHER:

Boone Dixon and his younger sister are excited about going off to Camp Hither. But as soon as he makes a friend, Roddy starts telling him about the scary snakes that are supposed to live in the lake and are keen to eat the campers...

This story was SO much fun!

I also love the writing style because it sets the scene perfectly with just enough information. As soon as I started reading, I felt like I was swept away to a creepy camp in the middle of nowhere.

Boone was a cool narrator. A kid who wants to enjoy himself and doesn't want to believe silly stories until he's facing it. And he doesn't like mysteries. Heather was a funky and brave girl who played by her own rules. And I liked their sibling relationship.

Although there are several ew! scenes featuring snakes, mice and a lab, this turned out to be a lot of freaky ssslithering FUN!

ENTER HORRORLAND:

This is actually a really nice feature. A week after the incident at Camp Hither, Boone gets an invitation to HorrorLand and he's glad to go because he's bored.

But as soon as he gets there, trouble finds him. At least he can use his newfound fear of snakes to some sort of advantage. LOL.

I enjoyed this because the creep factor makes an appearance early on, but it's also a small part in a story that had already started several books back so I didn't recognise some of the characters and villains.

Still, it was freaky cool.

Also, the Fear File #9 stuff was a great addition.

I really enjoyed this. Only problem is that I now want to read more! 😈

Boone and his sister love animals, so when they get to spend their summer at an animal camp, they’re super excited. But when the camp is taken over by snakes, they start to question what’s really going on at this camp. If you don’t like snakes, this one is not for the faint of heart. This had so many snakes it made the reader squeamish. The plot was fast-paced and had the reader invested from start to finish. The characters were so well thought out and each had a purpose that moved the story. This one was super short, but it wasn’t bad; it was very concise and got straight to the point, which this reader enjoyed. The Horrorland part of the story has definitely developed since we last saw all the kids. They all want answers, and it was nice that Boone felt confused because it made for a good refresher as to who was who because the characters are blending together. It’s been a fun and the reader can’t wait to continue our journey through Horrorland.

This book was very mysterious and creepy at some parts, but it was also interesting at the same time to find out the true back story of this camp. This book first took place on a bus that was headed to this camp named Hither. On this bus there were a lot of kids headed to camp and everybody was happy except for this one kid Roddy who was scared of the camp because he heard so many creepy stories about the place and he actually believed the people. When they all get to camp they heard this loud screeching sound every night so some kids went to explore. When they went to ask all counselors they soon found out that all the creepy stories were true. When they walk into the main office they see a bunch of venomous snakes and they started talking to them. The snakes told them that they were the people that worked at the camp and that one year they were experimenting with a potion to turn the snakes there into people but it turned them into snakes. So then they took the kids to experiment with them. Read the mysterious book to find out more. You will like this book if you like any other books by R.L.Stine or if you like creepy mysterious books.

This was another great one in the series. Some moments were actually pretty terrifying! I hate mice and snakes so it definitely scared me lol.

Welcome to Camp Slither follows Boone. There’s a legend of a giant snake that eats campers and one of the campers there is absolutely terrified of snakes. Boone starts to get t annoyed after a while but quickly learns that maybe this fellow camper was right after all.

“Welcome to Camp Slither” by R.L Stine is a fictitious story told by a young boy named Boone Dixon at a summer camp. Boone, and his older sister, Heather, are sent to Camp Hither for a fun summer vacation. The children however, know little about what they are getting themselves into.

This story is told from the perspective of Boone Dixon, a ten year old boy who loves adventuring. Boone has a sister named Heather who is a couple years older than him and acts like she is not afraid of anything. The only other main character is Roddy, a young boy who is sceptical of Camp Hither.

Boone and his sister Heather are attending a summer camp during their summer break. While riding on the bus to the camp Boone runs into a boy named Roddy. As they converse Roddy shares that he has heard about the camp being filled with man eating snakes. Throughout the story Roddy says he hears and sees snakes, but Boone and his sister thinks he is just paranoid.

The setting takes place at “Camp Hither” a summer camp for children. This book takes place during modern time. The camp is hours away from Boone and Heather's house.

A theme that I pulled out of this story would be to trust your gut. At the beginning of this book they were skeptical of going to the camp, because they have heard bad stories about it. They still got talked into going and had a bad experience like they had thought from the start.

I enjoyed reading “Welcome to Camp Slither” and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading simple fictitious stories.

“Welcome To Camp Slither” was an okay book. Twelve-year-old Boone is going to summer camp with his sister Heather. Boone meets a boy named Roddy. Roddy is horrified by snakes and some older kids at school told him scary stories of snakes at the camp. They say there is a monstrous snake slithering around the camp. Things turn a bit scaley for the group and they may have bitten off more than they can chew with this camp.

Roddy was my favorite character in the book. Roddy is a quiet kid who is scared of almost everything. He is very pale and skinny with blonde hair. He meets Boone on the bus to summer camp and they become friends. Roddy believes almost anything you tell him, even stories of a monstrous snake.

The book takes place at Camp Hither, no not Slither as the title states. It’s the beginning of summer, present day,and the camp is deep in the woods with a beautiful lake on the campgrounds that the kids are allowed to swim in.

The thematic connection from this book is, everything isn’t always as it seems. A beautiful camp full of trees and even a lake can turn sour fast! The other connection I got was don’t believe everything you hear. Scary stories may not be real after all.

I recommend this book to middle school students and younger. It’s an easy read and flows really well. If you like a little mystery here and there, this is a book for you.

I thought this one would be fairly creepy since I'm terrified of snakes. Well, it wasn't as dull as Robby Schwartz vs Dr Maniac but it was pretty close. Admittedly I'm not big on Goosebumps stories that have science-based twists. They tend to be ridiculous. (There are two exceptions. They are "The Perfect School" and "Stay Out of the Basement.") This book was definitely ridiculous, and not even in a fun, campy way. It was just... stupid. How the heck did Dr Crawler biting himself make Roddy turn back to human? These books aren't exactly known for explanations, which is fine, but I think that calls for one.

The HorrorLand segment was decent, although I groaned when Dr Maniac and the Purple Rage showed up. I'm even more curious about this "keeper" character.

Goosebumps was one of my favorite series of all time when I was in elementary school and I'm so, so, SO glad I reread one of my all-time favorite Goosebumps books for Halloween season. I hadn't read Goosebumps in years and it was so nice to relive memories from almost ten years ago (I was ten when I read this and now I'm nineteen) and remember why I love this series so much. It's making me consider buying other Goosebumps books so I can relive my childhood all over again. I think this is one of the most compelling and creepiest Goosebumps books and I loved every second of it, especially at the second end when characters and past villains came back. A great read for Halloween and to take a trip down memory lane!

I liked the suspenseful elements of this book. Boone and his sister, Heather, went to a summer camp called Camp Slither. Most of the kids were all the same age, and the camp counselors had been there for many years. There are many legends and stories about the camp, in which some are comical. All the camp counselors play tricks and pranks on the kids about a giant snake. It was fun to read and I was anxious to see what was going to happen next. Overall, this was a good book and I reccomend it to anyone who likes fiction novels.

I give Camp Slither a 4 star rating. I liked the beginning of the book because it tells us about the characters. The setting takes place at Camp Slither. My favorite part is at the beginning when they play a prank on her brother. This book is a really good book.
