My name is Michael Deyhim and I am your author, feel the power of my almighty pen! First I want to thank you for reading my book. I have been working for over a decade to improve my ability to write well.

I enjoy reading, writing, chess, Supreme Commander, and hiking. I have an older and younger sister and two loving parents. I dislike e-mail, anything that requires upkeep, and mushrooms. They are a fungus and I am strongly anti-fungus. My dream for the future is writing for a living.

Five years after the publication of book one this, the book that continues the story was finally published. The ending reflects that the author just lost interest in telling the story for a second time. While the author, Michael, can tell a good story, he just seems to either lose interest or inspiration after a point. This brings up the question, “Does an author have a responsibility to his/her readers to finish what he/she started?” As an avid reader and unpublished author who has two more books to write before I publish the first, I believe an author has that responsibility. I had to read the first book over in order to read this one. The way this book ends betrays that investment of interest. Michael is not the first contemporary author to betray his readers in this way. I’m not willing to encourage continuation of this behavior.

It was a fun romp, don't get me wrong I think however that the author just wanted to be done with this series and tried to come to some sort of conclusion as quickly as possible. It could have gone so many interesting ways, the mc and world had such potential to explore all sorts of themes but it just wasnt even attempted.
The first book i loved, the pacing was fairly steady as we got to know the mc, the build up was great but there was no real pay off to that build up. The pace of the second book is all over the place, there arent really any coherent over arching plots, its just slice of life and dice with an abrupt ending.
I still liked it because of the MC but the ending was a bit of a flop. I feel the potential was epic but the execution was meh.
Hope Michael has a good go with his SciFi and keeps improving his craft.

Disappointed

The story line had originally and the ability to be a long series, but ended in a very sorry classic ending. Waited a long time for the second book only to be disappointed

Book two

Mistakes: I found a few scattered throughout this short story. At under 200 pages it shouldn't have any.

Plot: Picks up where the other book left off. Very abrupt ending.

Characters: I would have kept following his adventures.

I don't think the author had a plan for where he wanted to take this story. There were a lot of things in the first book that just went away in this one. The MC just did a bunch of random things with no specific plan on how to reach his goals which from the first book was to get more skills and find out more information. I guess that went away in this book because he didn't really learn anything new in this one. He also turned into much more of a sociopath in this one The story kind of ended abruptly. Don't expect a third book in the series.

I love this series, but needs more proofreading

I read the first book years ago when the author first released it. When I saw there was a sequel I had to read it again before starting the second book. I’m so glad I did. These two books are such a treat to read.

Only thing that bugs are the errors. While they don’t abound on every page, there are enough that it disrupts the flow and pulls you out of the story at times. I tend to give books that are translations a little more slack. For ones where english is the authors first language it just comes off as lazy to me. If there were no errors this would be a 5 star for me for sure.

Liked the first book. But this one is a disappointment

I won't give any spoiler but fair warning to fans of adventures of a scribe the book is short, full of holes and tries to do to much.
the first book was good. I think problem is rather then have serveral books to finish Edwards tale, it is finished in one. It is to fast paced and the character development especially the MC is terrible he changes dramatically without any cause and the ending...... don't get me started it was a let down and that's putting it mildly

Good story needs a lot of editing

The story is very good, but there is a lot of editing that needs to be done. The main character has one over powered ability that he learns to use very well. The morals of the main character are not very honorable but he is not what I would consider evil. He leaves his friends behind and runs away from a battle, he hires out to a gang leader as an assassin because it is easy money but he does only kill other criminals. Good read with a lot of action.

author lost interest

The book itself matches the trend and story that was started in the first book. Clearly the author lost interest halfway the second book. Rushed the story and the epilogue is a sad bit of writing trying to wrap things up. He left himself a bit of leeway in the epilogue to write more of the story if he may feel like it.

3 stars, because 2,5 is not possible and 2 is too little because the first part is fun. I would be wary of any new series Michael Deyhim writes because of this potential tendency to drop the story.

The second of a two book series.

This story is about the youngest brother in a family of scribe whose career choice is to become a mage and go on adventures. The story is well written and is very entertaining. After reading both books I can tell the author is talented at storytelling. This story could have continued for several more adventures and l am a little sad he chose to end the series at two.

sad there are only 2 books, it's a solid read. While I won't say that it's unique, I will say that the MC is unique for this genre. The MC is NOT some moral protagonist, but not some edge lord either. He values his family but otherwise acts pragmatically in a lot of cases but is NOT defined by it to the point of being predictable.

Started at the top, finished at the bottom

While the first book set the bar high and I rate it very highly, the author just seemed to give up with this book... the first half still has promise but its a rushed mess, even more so in the 2nd half. Shame and disappointment, the book price is a scam!

Another good book

This book continues series. The depth of character is dependent. If you liked the main character in the first book you will continue to like the main character in the second book. The epilogue to this book promises mini more books to come.

Disappointed with the ending

The book was going well but then does a whiskey flowers ending and cuts it off. It was rushed at the end.
