“Cole!” I call out, and he turns and looks at me. “You turn your back on me and walk out of that door, don’t think for a goddamn second this baby and I will be around when your memory comes back,” I tell him gravely, and he walks over to me and stares into my eyes. “Don’t threaten me!” He shouts, glaring at me. “It’s not a threat. It's a goddamn fact!” I scream at him. ********Shayla and Cole finally get married, and with the exciting news of a baby on the way, the happy couple couldn't be more ecstatic. However, as they blissfully await the arrival of their firstborn child, life throws another curve ball their way. They're forced to face the ultimate challenge when Cole has a tragic accident, and the last four years gets wiped from his memory. Will Shayla be able to make him remember the love he once had for her? Will they survive this test, or will their great love crash and burn? *The Sequel to The Accidental Wife*

Nearly a 4 star.
This is the follow up to His Accidental Wife which already has a HEA so one can assume what one wants to assume as to why this book was written after said HEA.

The Hxh are happily married with a baby on the way.

Then he’s involved in an aircraft crash and has amnesia. Doesn’t recall anything about his wife and asks for the ow because as far as he’s concerned she’s his gf. He’s all soft with ow because she’s familiar and he can see himself with her. He sees her a couple of times but nothing happens apart from him being all warm and smiling and working on my fokken nerves by touching her hand etc. Here he is cheating in my opinion because he KNOWS he’s married even though he can’t feel a connection with the h. They’re still married and he is consciously breaking those vows.

For months the h either irritates him or he’s angry at her. Ugh. Damn unpleasant to watch through his POV. I forgave him (somewhat) cos he’s obviously overwhelmed because everyone is on his case about how the h is the bees knees. About how in the past (book 1 which I haven’t read) she kept taking him back despite the crap he put her through.

The only reason I kept reading from this point on was because he is OTT possessive and jealous. It’s as if his subconscious is telling him what his brain can’t.

She finally has enough when she nearly loses the baby when he shouts that he doesn’t love her or the baby and that he loves the ow.

I cried.

She nearly miscarries and he’s sorry because he realises he messed up by his OTT reaction. He’s so upset that HE cries because he’s struggling with flashes of memories where h can see how he adored her. He has headaches and is pretty lost and confused, I must admit, but he should’ve dragged his stupid ass to therapy. Hth everyone didn’t think of that is beyond me.

Now she’s pulled back, leaves him and is determined to give him his freedom. He starts grovelling and trying to make things right but she’s not having it. She wants a divorce and sticks to her guns even though she gives into temptation now and then when he wants to be intimate with her. Wonderful to watch her slap him down. We need more heroines like her. I’m sure others would feel that she’s taken too much of his crap. However, I felt she tried hard because she knows what they had, their love really was the best and if he could only find himself again, they could get that back.

They eventually make it after much much work on his part. Even before his memory comes back he’s falling in love with her again. After much resistance on her part, therapy and time, they make it.

Then the ow orchestrates the h and the baby’s kidnapping. H goes absolutely ballistic, but not once does he think it’s the ow. I wanted to backhand him. 😤

He gets their baby back but

🚨Triggers:🚨

She’s only found after she’s been raped and beaten within an inch of her life by 2 of the grossest men to slither around on this earth.

Up to now she’s been mostly strong throughout the book but now she’s lost her will to live. She struggles for ages and ages to get better but he’s patient and understanding and they eventually find their hea.

This author knows how to write revenge because the ow gets hers. In spades. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The villains as well, but I wouldn’t have minded a bit more atrocities happen to them.

There’s a 16-years-later epilogue that was satisfying to read so I know the author isn’t gonna spring a third book on them.
Hopefully not.
I haven’t read up on this author yet, so I don’t know the reasons behind her using her own name for the heroine. I found it more than a little disconcerting especially reading the rape and abuse scenes. I can compartmentalise this happening to a fictional character even when I’m connecting with her wholly. But in Romantic fiction, I find it hard to separate the author from the heroine, where they have the same name. Unless it’s clear that the work is a fictionalised autobiography or memoir, I’m uncomfortable about looking into what could possibly be an author’s innermost world. That’s a major turnoff for me.

Still, the H’s dedication to his family made this a worthwhile read. The secondary characters are people I would love in my life. The heroine is a firm favourite of mine.

ETA: note from author:
“I only used my name in the book because this initially started as a TikTok POV series and gained a lot of attention, so much so that my supporters wanted me to write it into a book which I did. The storyline is completely fictional; other than a couple of quirks and the heroine traits that are similar to mine, most of the book is a work of fiction.”

Two stars bc it got a little better towards the end, but not so much that I forgot about the beginning. I didn’t read the first book to this, and I have no interest to if the H is any indication of how it was. I feel that he cheated, no matter if he had his memories or not he knew he was married. And he can claim that he didn’t do anything with the ow, but emotional cheating is still cheating. And the AUDACITY he had to let her in his house against everyone’s wishes and HUG her when the h is missing…I had no words. I realize this is how he found out that she was behind the kidnapping, but he shouldn’t have been hugging her in the first place.
He also didn’t grovel at all and everything he did and the horrible things he said just seemed to be swept under the rug. He was a piece of shit and I was sad the h forgave him.

This is the followup to The Accidental Wife. These two books have OTT angsty drama, an evil OW, and great revenge. This duet is entertaining but exhausting. Fun reads!

Just like the first installment, this book dragged on way too long. We get the same bickering from Cole and Shayla that we did in book 1 - nothing new. It's like reading 2-3 stories in one book, but not in a good way. Cole looses his memory, he wants to be with Sophie, Shayla wants a divorce, he won't give it to her, she has the baby and they're back to some sort of weird normalcy (with his memory still shot). All that happens and you're only 50% through the book!! Cole got on my last nerve, just like in book one. I get he doesn't remember her or their life together. He only remembers starting with Sophie as his girlfriend. What I didn't understand is his constant need to butt into Shayla's life and what she was doing. After he says he doesn't want her or the baby, he refuses to give her a divorce. GTFOH! They are the definition of a toxic relationship. I don't think I read a book that uses so many exclamation points. The entire story line of Shayla getting kidnapped was unnecessary. The dream within a dream was pointless and a waste of pages. I put this book down so many times to stop reading but throughout the book there were moments that I liked. The group comraderies, the friendships, and some of the Cole/Shayla moments. This second installment was completely unnecessary because book 1 wrapped up nicely.

Side note: What was with the "uhhh" sounds every time they had sex? Every smutty scene had this sound coming from them and it was like I could hear a bad porno in my head! There are other way to describe those moments!!!

1.5 ⭐'s

Basically, the same everything that was the first book, except in this one, Cole loses his memory. This could've led to all sorts of delicious angsty moments and while there were some, a lot of great potential was missed...and a lot of page time.

Obviously, the author needed to write more and decided to write about the most horrific of events (well, there could've been some worse ones but that's not here or there) and obviously, why wouldn't she? She's put this couple through so much...however, it was just too much (for me anyway).

~Sigh~ I did enjoy Cole and Shayla and how their life evolved, but I just can't get over what happened.

I wish I got amnesia…

No offense to the author, but this will be my last read from her if this is her idea of what romance and love is. I have never rooted for two people to not get together more than Cole and Shayla.

Dating back to the ”Accidental Wife” their relationship was toxic at best. Say what you want about the heart wanting what it wants, but the heart should also know its limits especially Shayla when it came to Cole. Nothing about their journey or relationship was healthy. Cole was manipulative and controlling and Shayla was happy to be the punching bag, the other woman, and the afterthought while Cole figured out his crap.

This sequel was entirely unnecessary. So you’re telling me that after the stuff Cole put her through in the first book, in the second book she has to deal with it all over again in the form of her husband getting amnesia? Give me a break. The dude did absolutely no heavy lifting in their relationship and even had the audacity to throw his Ex back in her face during an argument. Cole did not respect her boundaries, meanwhile Shayla let Cole walk all over her. It was like reading the story of two teenagers unfold instead of full grown adults. I wish I had amnesia and forgot the hours of my life spent reading this.

This book is dumb, boring, poorly written.
Seriously I have no idea why I finished it, I felt desperate from minute 1, I thought I was going to suffer jejej a little bit because of the drama that was seen in the synopsis and I said come on I want to suffer, but when I read it, I felt fed up, angry.
It's one of the worst dramas, the things that happen don't make sense, the characters are silly. The jealous ex who does horrible things is still being handled.
In short, horrible book, one of my worst reads of the year.

The sequal to The Accidental Wife is just wow my heart litterally breaks with each chapter it stings my heart as much as shayla and coles, my eyes water every time there's a sad or happy part to the book when shayla said she was doing a sequal I was overjoyed but also thought can it be as good (we all know sequal can be pants) but she honestly topped it 1million times over so many twists and turns you just cannot predict what it going to happen I am so glad I came across her book because she is an outstanding writer and I cannot wait for her to release more!xx

I’m sorry but this was a horrible read. Firstly, the FMC having the author’s name is already weird enough. It gives off such cheap tasteless fanfiction vibes. Secondly, dear author, for the love of God, please pick a single tense to write the book in!!! It changes every few sentences and it’s so annoying. Who even allowed this book to be published??? The plot isn’t even worth the horrible grammar. I should’ve known what was waiting for me when I see the author re-enacting a few scenes of the book on TikTok. Just because everyone can write a book, doesn’t mean they should to it.

Good Sequel to An Accidental Wife

I really ❤️ liked ❤️ the story of Cole losing his memory and having to discover the love he has for his wife, Shay. It occurs due to a plane crash ✈️ that leaves Cole waking up thinking he’s 4 years in the PAST. Once he realizes all seems to be well. Then an unfortunate event happens to Shay that challenges their marriage. I admit, I cried (only the 2nd time I’ve cried while reading a book in the last 2 years). I did not cry during the traumatic event, but I cried tears of joy when Shayla found her strength and was able to move forward and take her life back. The only reason I rated it 4 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️instead of 5 is because of the grammatical errors (and I’m not talking about the British v. American spellings). I am an educator and would be more than honoured to help proofread any drafts before they go to the public 😊.

I really liked the book to the point that I cried. It was really intense
But I have some points that really bothered me, and I might be wrong because I didn’t read first book; for instance, I felt like the heroine is desperate for love and accept only the good life in marriage, but when it comes to problem, which is normal thing in marriage, she runs away.
Especially when the hero told her I love you, she said “I don’t see that love in his eyes” or “ he is not the same person” of course he is not the same person because he lost his memory. What the heck should he do?
Second, I believe that she is the cheater when she kissed Blake to piss hero off. Really!! how old are you? However, the hero, who lost his memory, didn’t cheated on her when he returned to his ex

Not as long as book 1, but I REALLY enjoyed it. The WHO .... yes, I guessed right....his breaking point....OMW....YES, a LITTLE WET EYE... The ending and closure I needed to end the book...AWESOME. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE books LIKE THIS. Go in ...get lost in a world .....get closure....boom done. Not left in limbo....which in my opinion is happening ALOT lately....its like sitting in movies waiting for credits to finish to watch bloopers or is there more? But Ms. Hart didn't do that.....THANK YOU @SHAYLA HART.

Again way to long, with a lot of filler scenes with me skimming through them. The relationship between the h and H is heartwarming but often its laboured upon and looses that impact becuase as a reader I was 'yes yes move on'. I also felt that the storyline was taken down a dark path when there's really wasn't any need to. It was jarring to the tone of the romance that had been set previous to this point including the first book.

There were some eye rollingly cringey moments in both books but at least the first book had some scenes with such angsty goodness to balance it out. This second book lacked that.

I swear to good Lord if Cole Tristan Hoult would have be alive in person I was definitely ruined for any other men living on this very land. It was like he was doing all those affectionate things, all the break points, all the love making to me in person and I thank to you Shayla Hart for this piece of you, you shared with us.

But I am not wrong about this, but I am seriously totally ruined for any other book boyfriend sure Shayla Hart.

my daily dose of drama and I liked it to a certain extent, I mean, I had some problems, the first of which is not so bad either, is that in the first 10 pages at least the main characters have said "baby" to each other about 15 times and I couldn't stand it, I admit it maybe it's for lack of not having a partner and I don't know how they treat each other, but I'm sure it's not very common to call your partner that many times baby, I got to a point where I said "please it's enough we all understood that they love each other more than anything in the world they are happily married and expecting a baby and blah blah blah". Second, the couple was fine I guess but ohh god they made me so tired, HE TIRED ME SO MUCH, he doesn't understand what a STOP is, I understand he had an accident and doesn't remember but if she says I don't want to be married to you anymore IT'S BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO STAY MARRIED TO YOU SHE WANTS THE DAMN DIVORCE AND DOESN'T WANT TO COME BACK TO YOUR DAMN HOUSE HOW HARD DOES IT TAKE YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT, she would tell him "i don't want to go back to that house" and he would get it in one ear and out the other and for every "i don't want to go back to that house" and for every "i don't want to go back" he would insist 20 times that she would go back and just in case what he said about her and her baby I DON'T GIVE A FUCK THAT YOU HAD AN ACCIDENT does not justify what he said. And then he thinks he has the fucking right to say "she's still my wife" when she tells him she's dating another man even though she was lying about it (I have to emphasized that they were no longer living together and he practically broke up with her when he said such hurtful things that almost caused her to have an abortion) ANYWAY WHAT THE FUCK DOES HE CARE, he was the first one to do it with the other one who I forget her name and he thought he had the right because legally he thought he had the right to insist to exhaustion that she come back when he said really hurtful words to her and almost caused her to have an abortion. And third and last because I'm already remembering more things and getting angry, I liked the first half of the book and found it more interesting than the second half. Of course when I was on page 30 of the book I realized that it is the second book of what I think is a trilogy and I didn't read the first one, even so I understood everything that happened in the first book because the author made mini summaries which I really appreciate although I think I won't read the other books because he is completely unbearable and I hope in another book he has another accident but this time he won't lose his memory it would be better if he would lose his breath.

I feel like that’s all I've done lately, packing and moving from one place to another. I moved out of the apartment to Coles, then back to the apartment, then back to Coles, then here, then back to the apartment, then back here again and now to a whole new place.”

Aimee blinks at me and sighs. “I’m exhausted just listening to you say that sentence, girl.”

I’m on the same page as Aimee—exhausted. How is it possible that this is a sequel? I didn’t read the first book, and thank goodness for that, because I don’t think I could have endured experiencing this level of drama twice. I felt like I was reading a trilogy compressed into a single book.

From happy marriage to the MMC losing his memory and believing himself in love with his ex, to FMC wanting a divorce and the MMC realizing he made a mistake and wanting her back, cue early pregnancy and marriage counseling, then brief happiness until the MMC’s psychotic ex abducts the FMC and their baby, FMC is found after the MMC learned of his ex’s involvement but by the time they rescue her she’s already been raped and abused, FMC struggles with PTSD, ex/ow gets her comeuppance, cue more happiness and second surprise pregnancy, then hea with epilogue.

And that’s what you missed on GLEE!

In all seriousness this was a long book, and I skipped three chapters (which was like 10%) because it was dragging on, and on, and I grew impatient. If I had to sum up this reading experience, I’d call it a rollercoaster-of-angst.

Rape

The "trigger warning" in the beginning of the chapter said physical assault.. ueq okay she got tortured and beat. But don't beat around the bush!!! We need clear warning labels when it comes to THE KIND of assault. Don't sugar coat the rape! I could read about a beating, not the rape. And it was so fucking unnecessary. Tje plot was already ridiculous..but I could go along and enjoy it for what it is. But don't deceive your readers with vanilla warnings when it's not the case. I don't care that the excuse was that it was not descriptive in your opinion. All the toughts and feelings after are also a direct correlation. I liked the 1st book. Ruined it with this one.

Right before I hit the 60% mark, I was going to give this book 2 stars, then it got even more dumb. The plot was over around 50%, then it was full of overly dramatic twists that only made it worse. Oh and let's not forget the tense changes every other paragraph, and the incorrect use of the comma - when she decides to use it.

I didn't even read the first book, and I don't think I ever will. This is why I never read new to me authors.

This story was tortuously long and repetitive, and it was extremely reminiscent of the first book. The characters were doing exactly the same pushing and pulling, fighting and breaking up. And this story just kept going on forever and ever.

The story ended on a great note with the nefarious, evil, Skank Ho EX getting due what she had coming to her, and Shayla and Cole finally finding their happily ever after. I was SO ready for this story to finally be over.

You know when they say less is more? The author could have listened to it before writing the book. I didn’t like the previous one where the hero dumps the heroine to go back with the bitch ex who dumped him for another man, this one was no better.
It is all over the place, there is simply too much happening and ott. The hero and the heroine are married happily with a baby on the way, he has an accident and has amnesia, but not total amnesia, only the last four years, basically he forgot the heroine and remember he’s still in love with his ex.
So he rejects and is a jerk to his pregnant wife and starts seeing ow once again. The heroine seems to grow some backbone and decides, after almost losing her child, to divorce his sorry ass, and even if I, sympathetic to his issues I can well understand her. He’s a jerk and insufferable and I just didn’t like him because, even after remembering everything he wasn’t sorry enough for what he put her through. Unworthy until the end.
Then of course she’s back with him and they have a daughter and that’s where the book had to end imo. It could have been rated differently because it would have been another amnesia story with a lot of angst and a hero who can’t choose between the woman he remembers and the one he doesn’t. The author then, sadly, went overboard.
And she decides to turn the bitch, rich ex into a criminal psycho bitch, Glenn Close is mother Theresa in comparison because it turns out she planned the accident where the hero was almost killed and she kidnaps the heroine and has two thugs raping and beating her for days, until the hero finds her barely alive.
Was it necessary? Imo no, it wasn’t. As I said there’s too much and too shallow, there are also mistakes and poor grammar, but this was not the worse, after some time I felt like I was in a soap opera of olds where unimaginable and unrealistic things happen one after another to the poor and jinxed heroine. I couldn’t even feel angst, I was simply annoyed and a bit amused because you know, enough is enough even in fiction. And anyway the hero was awful, I wouldn’t want him wrapped in gold if he was the last man in the world.

It is a sequel. I didnt read the first one but I got the gist of their first HEA from just reading this one. There is amnesia involved after the hero was involved in plane clash and he almost walked out on our heroine and their child. If she had not gone into premature danger of baby loss, he would have walked out on her to his evil EX/ OW. There was no real grovel since he didnt cheat on her or wronged her. He just didnt remember her and was fedup of trying to understand their relationship so he decided to walk out to the evil OW who was whispering in his ears whom he remembered.

The OW is a true evil in this book. She did unspeakable thing to the heroine. She did suffer by how hero and his friend went about it but it was not enough. But nothing could have been enough for her actions. The other two evil OMs were punished too but I didnt see any remorse so it was not a big deal for them. The punishment handed out to them by our hero was better than that handed out by the court. The hero not once thinking OW could be involved with her kidnapped was mind-boggling and then he lets her console him when he was depressed and couldnt find the heroine!? Once he pieced it together and that was quick he went after her with full power and his intent to punish her was not half hearted. I really liked that part.

The heroine is strong character who managed to fight her demons and came out of them stronger. There were some places where I got a bit confused like when hero tried to have sex with heroine a few days after she gave birth to the baby OR when he tried to give her bath without asking the doctors after she came back to in the hospital. Shouldnt someone be asked if it was okay to give her bath OR presence of nurse to make sure she was okay in the process.

Very nice supporting characters.
