Recker’s time away is cut short when tragedy hits the team. He comes back to find that someone is targeting them. The question is who? Is it a new enemy that they have to deal with? Or is it someone from their past, who has regrouped to try and get revenge for their prior skirmishes?

This one was a slight twist with it starting strong with Hailey taking the lead and Reacher in the background. They added a new character to the mix which was a strong addition.
Hailey and the “new guy” continue to struggle with each other until they get in two deep and Hailey has to bail him out of the big one. Reacher has to return from vacation or sabbatical to help out. Of course Vincent and team play a split role between good guys and bad guys.
The story line of Mia being caught up in this and questioning if she still wants this life is played out at this point in the series. I would have rated higher if it wasn’t used again. The storyline is on repeat which is annoying
“Nothing Breeds Success, Like Success”, And “The Silencer” Is Successfully Thrilling
“Bullet Trap” is the latest instalment in the long running “The Silencer Series” by author Mike Ryan. It is a book where the past connects with the present, and the present may, or may not morph into the future. It is an exciting tale filled with intrigue (twists & turns, plots within plots) where nothing seems to be exactly what it seems.
The writing is crisp, the plotline superb, and the action comes early and stays late. The book is well edited, and I found it to be not only an exciting one, but also an error free one. There was no stumbling around, and having to “re-read” it over an over again in order to determine what was happening.
I HIGHLY Recommend “Bullet Trap” to all readers who enjoy great action thrillers with a great deal of action and surprising plot twist.
Enjoy your reading.
Yes, I am an Advanced Copy Reader (and sometimes Beta Reader), and therefore I received a “free copy” of this book, in exchange for agreeing to write, and post, an “honest” review. I was neither offered nor did I accept any other consideration to influence my review, nor do I have any financial motive for its success or failure. This review is based solely upon my personal subjective enjoyment of the book.
Mr. Ryan saved the best for last. This story was gripping from beginning to end
I was taken from the very first scene of this book until the very end. The story is the kind for which suspense thrillers are supposed to be. The Silencer Team nearly met its end with the return of an old threat even in the midst of arising threats already in play in the city. The mystery of who the old foes were really pushed the story forward to a stunning reveal. The introduction of a kick ass character hired to protect one of their own is one I do not believe we will see the last of. For the Professor to experience guilt over a decision he made that nearly cost the team big was powerful and I had never seen him shaken until that point. Recker's return was at the right time. Had he not at the time he did, his influence and everything he spent years building in the city would've been in jeopardy especially with mob boss Vincent. This is easy one of my top two favorite books of the 15 book series. I can't wait until the next book. Highly recommended.
Scorpions and Cockroaches, They're So Hard To Eradicate!
Some old nemesis just keep coming back, no matter what kind of traps you set or what kind of bait you spread. Mia is once again the target of a group the Silencers was long gone. And Mia, the woman who said early on that she wouldn't be a nagge. r or complainer, has turned pretty much into the nagger and whiner. She's even developed into a stubborn witch who thinks she can be who and what she wants even when the known enemies are after her and refuses any security that David or Mike suggests.
Come on Author Ryan, your writing is slipping! Other than Mia going gonzo, the writing is top notch and the edge that keeps me reading is there, in spades. There are some curious twists that keep one guessing and, thus, engrossed clear to the end.
After 15 books a degree of repetition is to be expected, I mean there are only so many things the bad guys get up to and only so many options to beat them The problem with this story is that, it even has the same gang of criminals returning and doing their thing That being said, this story has a lot more focus on the teams dynamics and interactions, especially Recker and his ongoing relationship with Mia and his desire to stay or leave
Recker has to return from his time away with Mia in Hawaii because of serious problems back home for the team. A new, but old enemy is after him and those close to him and he has to find ways to find them and fight back, this time with the help of a new, very capable ally.
The book is not a stand alone read;it was like I was dropped in the middle; no reference to their business,no background on the characters. Where in America (other than Chicago)can you shoot a dozen or so and not have the cops responding and their not knowing who they were?
Plot- or character-driven? A mix Strong character development? It's complicated Loveable characters? It's complicated Diverse cast of characters? Yes Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
