Benaja Lake never believed she was part of an extended family, much less heir to a fortune worth billions and carrying many dark secrets. She was sure a mistake had been made when approached with an offer to assume her dying uncle’s place at the head of the family company. The offer was complete with a hoard of enemies and a protection detail led by Syson Faust-a man with more than a few dark secrets of his own.

I was thoroughly CAUGHT UP in the mystery, suspense and romance between Benaja Lake and Syson Faust. I love the way he protected Benaja even before he got to know her; and the way she looked pass his "shady" background, didn't assume the worse and allowed his present actions to speak for his true character. I'm so looking forward to discovering more about Benaja, Syson's family/friends and the secrets surrounding all of them.
Benaja Lake didn't believe she had an extended family. Her parents died a few years back and to her knowledge, that was all she had. However, her long-lost uncle is dying and she finds out she is the heir to a billion-dollar empire. The only problem, aside from her never knowing this family existed, of course, is that this company is riddled with greed and secrets. And her uncle is expecting her to turn it all around. This means a target is on her back. People aren't happy with this and they want her gone before she can even take her position. That is is where Syson Faust - a man with more secrets than Jason Morgan (my General Hospital fans know who I'm talking about). He's hired to protect her but being just a bodyguard isn't something either of them wants.
Undoubted packs a punch in a short time with the many secrets and truths that need to be unraveled on both Benaja's and Syson's part. Their families are convoluted and their histories are murky. It's a nice mix of intrigue and sexy. There were a few times I will say the mystery overshadowed the romance. There was a lot to get through and I think if it was a little longer, that would have helped.
Undoubted had nice chemistry and an interesting storyline that drew me in. Syson's friends Jace and Avery? I'm keeping my fingers crossed they get their own stories.
That was a solid, entertaining romance novel. I liked that Ben was no 'shrinking violet' and that she didn't tiptoe around her attraction to Sy. She was also a bad ass boss Librarian (yeah!!!). And a bad ass all around. They were both hot together. The island's back stories added some mysteries and thrill to it all, although it may have been resolved a tiny bit too neatly. But I like it better than having unnecessary dragged out twists and counter twists just for the sake of drama. The only this that bugged me a bit is that I am not sure about the geographic location of Tesh and its administrative status connected to Guadeloupe... But all in all, a good read.
A great story filled with intrigue, suspense, mystery, and the cure all love in its many facets. Loyalty in friendship, respect, the importance of family!y and honesty, and then there is true accountability! This is another masterpiece by Altonya. Mastery of plots and romance. One fail....it finished too quickly! ;) Two thumbs up! I await my next book with my usual great anticipation to add color to my life! LOL
I love the way AW weaves a story. It's a thrill ride full of suspense and intrigue with Ben being at the center of the madness. So much family drama and steam bouncing off the pages between Ben and Syson and ends with love. I hope Jace, Avery and Rhys get stories I would love to learn more about them. Well done AlTonya a forever reader of your work.
