The world has Fallen, but life goes on… Matthew Kade was a corporate assassin—one of the best agents Obsidian Corporation had. But then the bombs began falling, and the old world ended. Now he must navigate the new world he finds himself in, a world where the strongest survive, and the weaker do their bidding…or die. Although Agents were imprinted with the skills they needed for their current mission, when the world Fell, the entire identity database got dumped into his head. With thousands of personalities running around in his noggin, one thing is sure. No matter whether Kade is battling Teledyne Specialists in the streets, Geno Freaks in the sewers, or Zone Warlords in their Scrapers, he’s got an imprint for that. Enter the Fallen World as seen through the eyes of Kade as he completes five different missions, and then get a special look at the birth of the Kade imprint in Origin. “Kade” includes six previously released short stories as well as almost 17,000 words of new Kade material. When bodies began falling from Scrapers, you know Kade is nearby.
Kade by Christopher Woods is a series of novellas that flesh out the person (or is it persons?) of Mathew Kade. We find that he has within his brain – himself a ninety year old veteran of the corporate wars, William Childers an OAS Agent, Stephen Gaunt a Corporate Assassin, Doctor Amanda Fender a psychoanalyst, Tim Bolgeo, Agent & father to the leader/ protector of the Bastion. These are only a very few of the hundred or so people living within his noggin. Kade is slowly and methodically cleaning up each Zone, rescuing people, killing many and “teaching lessons” to a select few. As a side note, I would not want to be on the receiving end of one of his lessons.
Woods has again brought his people, Kade and the Fallen World to life in living color. Buy this book to see how Kade is cleaning up Philadelphia one Zone at a time. This is a book that can be read without having read any of the previous books. You’ll get a clearer picture if you have read them but it’s not necessary. Get on board for the ride of your life.
My first encounter with this Fallen World was in the first book of the series. It happens to also be the first series in this anthology. We get all the stories involving Matthew Kade in one volume, including his origin story.
Matthew Kade has always been a favourite of mine and having all his stories in one volume is really a treat.
Even though he would deny it, Kade is a paladin on a quest for redemption and when he is motivated bad guys all over the city shiver with dread. Because you don't want him coming after you! And if he comes after you, you do not want to mess with his beloved trench coat, no blood, no bullet holes, otherwise he will get angry... And some things are too terrifying, even for this Fallen World.
Not sure what to say about this installment. Guess I should try not to spoil anything. Life with Mathew Kade is never dull.. Those who are allied tend to say he brings it upon himself. Those unlucky enough to be his enemies are wise to give him distance. How things can change ever so quickly depends on Kades many moods. Thank you for another ride...
I really enjoyed this book, Matthew Kade and all the other personalities in his head are funny and dangerous as hell. Lots of humor and funny dialog between the characters (and personalities) and lots of serious butt kicking.
Though most of these stories were in previous Fallen world books, they are worth reading again.the new material is a great addition since prior you only head a brief history of Kade
This fallen world better explained. Matthew Kades story and back story. The first story in this book started the chain of events and helps hold the whole structure together.
At first I thought it a rehash of This Fallen World, but then I got to the new material. Love the wiseass dialogue. I like Woods’ dialogue in his Martin Quincy stories in the 4 Horsemen universe too.
It's been such a long journey that I hated it to end. Kade was a great character. This book brings all the loose ends together. What a great story. I recommend reading the whole series. That good!
