About the author

Hiro Mashima (Jap: 真島ヒロ) is a Japanese manga artist.

He gained success with his first serial Rave, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1999 to 2005. His best-selling work, Fairy Tail, published in the same magazine from 2006 to 2017, became one of the best-selling manga series with over 72 million copies in print. Mashima began the currently ongoing Edens Zero in 2018.

Fairy Tail won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga in 2009, and Mashima was given the Harvey Awards International Spotlight award in 2017 and the Fauve Special Award at the 2018 Angoulême International Comics Festival.

Let defeats Jegan, kinda-sorta dies while saving Julia, but is actually also saved by Julia. He and Julia are separated from Haru and the gang for most of the volume.

Deep Snow and his men attack Haru, but Shuda steps in to handle all Deep Snow's jobbers. The volume ends with Shuda about to fight Deep Snow

Cerquita de la veintena y sigo sin apenas detenerme con Rave (igual si paro ya no la vuelvo a coger XD). En ésta ocasión tenemos un tomo con dos calidades muy distintas.

Lo primero (y lo mejor) es el combate de Let. El personaje de la raza de los dragones parece solventar sus asuntos con su enemigo/rival de toda la vida, además de terminar toda la trama de la novia convertida en dragón. Es un trozo corto, intenso y bastante bien narrado, al que quizás le sobra alguna fantasmada. Pero bueno, es un shonen.

Y luego tenemos al grupo protagonista encontrándose y enfrentándose a una serie de malos secundarios de los secundarios. Esos combates que tan poco me gustaron en Bleach y que parecen obligatorios para alargar innecesariamente una obra. De verdad, cuándo aprenderán a no hacer éstas cosas? Lo único que consiguen es aburrir, y si lo que quieren es estirar el chicle que hagan los combates contra villanos importantes más largos.

El capítulo final vuelve a remontar la calidad media, trayendo a Shuda de entre los muertos (otra vez) y mostrando al personaje con poses molonas.

De verdad que me gusta lo que hace Mashima, pero sigo sin entender ésta vagancia o ésta improvisación cuasi absoluta que guía la mayoría de sus tomos. Cuando se centra un poco en la trama la calidad del manga está bastante bien, pero cuando se va por las ramas… al menos entretiene.

En fin, un tomo más que me sigue confirmando que el autor tiene potencial, que prefiero Rave antes que Fairy Tail y que Mashima está empezando a pulir su dibujo.

Team Haru faces off against Deep Snow in a drag out knuckle scratching battle! Let and Jegan…finally battle it out to its conclusion! Hiro Mashima delivers a hard-hitting volume that is sure to please those who have been with the series from the start. This book series makes it hard to see when the series will end. Some of the character designs leave you wanting in this volume, but it is still another solid entry to the long running series.

This volume picks up the pace again by bringing Let an emotional arc payoff so well deserved. It also brings us one step closer to the demise of the Oracion Six but something dark is looming. Let's emotional arc in this was so satisfying.
