Wolfsbane #4

Running from My Mate

Rate this book
Running away never sounded so good.

After years of an awkward arranged mating, I decided enough was enough and left.

The only problem?

I was pregnant.

With triplets.

Cue the overprotective male hormones.

Now, the mate who didn't want me is determined to talk me into giving him another chance, and not even my best friends will help me get rid of him.

It's time to learn how to stand up for myself.

Even to the one man who's supposed to love me more than anything.

And... even if all I want to do is let him drag me into a closet and ravage me.

This is the first of two novellas that follow the original Wolfsbane trilogy. It’s almost too short for its purposes. It features Jamie and Oliver, who were in an arranged marriage, who we saw a lot of in the original trilogy. While I wanted to love this book, and it does feature them actually (finally) getting to know each other, it did feel far too rushed, especially at the end. The last few chapters had their relationship escalating in hyper mode. That said, because this book is so much shorter than the original trilogy, it’s a great brief escape into this amazing world that Lola Glass has created, and I was glad to see Jamie and Oliver get their HEA!

Loved the book!!

This is the fourth book in the Wolfsbane series. It is a short novella that provides an update on Oliver and Jamie. I loved every minute of this book. I just wish it were a bit longer. From the Wolfsbane trilogy, we know that Oliver and Jamie were mates, but it was a pairing for political reasons. they never really seemed to be a couple in love. About the time that Jamie decides she's had enough and wants a "divorce," she finds out that she's pregnant - with triplets! A product of an insane night of lust due to hormones brought on by the mating season. Oliver is stunned by this turn of events and decides that if he truly wants to keep Jamie - and he does - then he's going to have to change things.

Oh my, was a sweet, heartfelt story. There's so much miscommunication between these two, it's almost sad how much time they wasted. But it was so gratifying to read about the changes in their relationship when Oliver decided to make some changes. I was on cloud 9 at the end of the story, you would have thought it was MY relationship!!

Characters from the trilogy appear in this book. I don't think you'd have to have read the previous books, but it would help to provide the context for the state of their relationship and introduce the characters that appear here.

While I'm a bit "iffy" on recommending the trilogy - or the first 3 books in this series - I'm definitely not sitting on the fence about this book. Now I can't wait to see what fate has in store for our girl, London!

I absolutely adored Glass’s Wolfsbane series and her fantastic characters. Jamie and Oliver were two supporting characters that I was so invested in and I am so glad that Lola decided to give us the rest of their story! When my e-arc appeared in my inbox I shifted all of the books to the back burner and blissed out with my favourite gang.

I LOVED THIS NOVELLA! I adore Jamie and Oliver so much and I am so glad that they got their happy ending. But I also loved that it didn't just happen overnight. This couple worked through their issues and communication and I loved every minute.

Communication is Key . . .

At last, a theme that suggests the value of communication rather than assuming what someone else is thinking or how they feel about something. This is Jamie and Oliver’s story. Having endured years of an arranged mating, Jamie decided to end things and left. The issue now was that she was pregnant with triplets. Her mate wants her back, wants a second chance. There is only one way that could happen… they need to communicate and work it out.

I was pleased to see how much effort Oliver put into getting Jamie back. They both had to realize and verbalize where they thought they made mistakes. They needed to discuss alternative ways of handling issues. But most important of all, they needed open and honest communication. Difficult or not, without discussing problems with your mate, no resolution can be found. Feelings are hurt when the other person doesn’t understand why you did what you did. Understanding helps to heal the wounds. Learning to talk it out is a skill, enhanced by practice. Does it work this time for Jamie and Oliver? Can they come back together to raise their family? Grab your copy and share their story.

Jamie and Oliver

Jamie and Oliver were a mating of convenience both coming from political families.
Jamie is a romantic at heart and she always dreamed of being in love and with a mate that would love her back but what she got was a mate that barely touched her. After falling pregnant in mating season she decided that she didn't want to be in a loveless mating any longer and asked to seperate. Oliver may have kept his feelings buried but he loved his mate and always had, he'd do anything rather than let her get away.
After four years together they realized they didn't really know each others feelings as each hid behind masks of the image they were taught to wear.
But in order to find their way together and start fresh they'll have to remove the masks and get to know the real person behind ♡ Perhaps the mating had been a political paring but in the end they were grateful they'd agreed.

Such a cute story and I loved seeing both of their masks fall away, especially seeing Oliver become a typical possessive mate.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this romance because it jumps into a preexisting relationship in trouble and shows the characters working to make it survive, something I think is lacking in the real world for many people.

I hadn’t read the previous books in this series and there were several occasions I felt that I missed a joke or would have understood something better if I had, but there was nothing in the main storyline that did not standalone.

The male lead was persistent and determined but gentle. The female lead was hurting but cared and became willing to engage over time. The secondary characters were relevant and made serious important contributions to the plot. I enjoyed the character and relationship development thoroughly.

The story is dual POV, well written and edited, and I will look out for more of the author’s writing.

This story is so sweeeet!♡♡
The start had me doubting on how would Oliver win Jamie back but everything naturally progressed and the main theme here is communication.

Being a book with not more than 100 pages, I thought this book will be filled with groveling only, but woww @LolaGlass definitely surprised me. This novel definitely had the chase, the sweetness, great chemistry and humour. Henley's prank was genius thinking!😂 Ofcourse we see the jealous behaviour from Oliver which is just so hottt and he knows how to massage which is a win for sure. The ending, aaah **dreamy sighs**.

The best part is that we actually see how Oliver and Jamie build a relationship and share things.

I never looked at cockroaches in a positive look, but I guess that has changed today. ;)

Definitely looking forward to read more by this author!!

Loved it

I loved Jamie and Oliver from the first book and was always cheering for them and loved how their friends tried to bring them closer to each other. I loved how though this was a shifter story this story wasn't about true mates but arranged marriage by parents for political gain or other. Oliver and Jamie have been together for 4 years and after Jamie ends up pregnant and sees her friend Henley's love story with Roman she decides to leave Oliver because he never showed her any emotions or anything that makes her think he cares for her he was always cold and aloof but when she leaves him Oliver doesn't accept it and fights to be with her and shows her he cares. How would she accept that and why now after 4 yrs ? It will always be in her mind that he wants her cause of the babies she's carrying or is there more to the story than what she sees and thinks she knows?

Oh my shifter babies!! This was unputdownable and steamy and absolutely made me giddy! Jamie and Ollie finally get it together and it's just the sweetest thing to witness. This is a whole new side to them both and it's daring and delicious! This gave me all of the things that I didn't know I needed. These two tortured and strong willed individuals that have long been reader favorites get their happily ever after and it's just pure entertainment. My heart is bursting with joy.

I'm all kinds of girl crushing on Lola Glass who seemingly came from no where and took the shifter universe by storm! Her writing is fresh and captivating and memorable. Everything she writes just suck you in and doesn't let go. Get lost in her words today because this is one author that you must read!

I adored this novella!

I loved having both Jamie and Oliver’s POV, and how Oliver worked so hard to prove himself to Jamie, also both admitting where they went wrong in their relationship and acknowledge that they should have gone about their previous issues a different way.

One thing I really enjoy about this novella was that miscommunication and avoidance of conflict/difficult situations was explored and brought to the front which is so important as both these points are common in relationships and friendships; a lot of things would work out if both parties WORKED it out, rather then made assumptions and seeing the effort that Jaime and Oliver made to understanding each others needs was refreshing!

Super sweet and lots of fun to read!

Sweet misunderstanding

3.5!

Sweet novella story for Ollie and Jamie. I always hoped they’d get back together and this story showing how was great for this fan.

I like that it was all blamed on a huge misunderstanding. Small things got to me though, like his thoughtless comment from the previous books regarding the pregnancy. Seems weird to forget that. Then there’s the how of things, how they didn’t go too much into the misunderstanding but took a while to go about the feeling better. Not that I minded too much, I liked watching them get comfortable again. I think it was a little weird for Jamie to be so one way and get upset when she gets exactly what she’s asking for, but again, she figured out what not to do. So it worked out.

5 stars!

I don’t know how this series doesn’t have more hype. It’s so good. And the only thing I didn’t like about this novella was that it wasn’t a full length novel. I adore Jamie and Oliver as a couple. Lola mentioned in her afterword that she wanted to explore Jamie’s pregnancy more but ended up not doing that, and I’m so glad! This was the perfect amount of angst but also realness.

I think with PNR, it’s sometimes hard to have “authentic” and “real” moments. But I always find myself gravitating to books where authors include so many realistic details that it feels like real life, even in a fantasy world.

Love this series so much. Need London’s story stat!

I begged in my review of the Wolfsbane series, and I was SO hopeful for this read and it was actually everything that I wanted it to be and more!

This is Jamie and Olivers story and it was perfect for them. It was a quick read you can spend a night lost in and was just about healing and fighting for love. I loved how stubborn these two were and I am so glad we got this perfect novella for these two.

*Give my regards to the chef because this as a dish served to perfection*

Im here for all the romance! Jamie wasn’t my favorite character from the seres, but after the third book in the Wolfsbane series, I was definitely curious what was going to happen to these extra characters. My girl, Lola, loves a good HEA so she never disappoints. She also never disappoints in the character relationship development department. Its something I could never stop raving about. She does a fantastic job of creating real and buildable relationships.
I can’t wait to read the next novella, about London and her story.

Maybe because my days seem to go by so fast, I really enjoy quick reads. This story is a shorter one in a series of other full length novels. I really liked this though. The characters needed to learn communication but the man didn't give up and worked his way into her heart.
I totally recommend this book.

Count me among the Jamie and Oliver stans! I loved getting more of their story. I loved Jamie in the Wolfsbane series and it's awesome to get her story. I loved it. Oliver and Jamie had some major communication issues that lead to their unhappy marriage. Oliver finally wakes up and realizes he's about to lose Jamie if he doesn't figure it out. I loved seeing him get it together and working for their relationship. If you've read the rest of the series, this novella will be such a great treat!

Though Jamie and Oliver’s marriage started out political, somewhere along the way they both started to care but was waiting for the other to admit things had changed for them. Tired of being ignored until the accidental pregnancy, then Oliver wanted to act like he cared, Jamie decided she was done, she wanted a divorce. Oliver was having none of it, he loved his mate but evidently Oliver had given Jamie too much distance and time…but no more.

Better running from this book...

I can't understand how high rated is this book...🧐 The storyline is certainly one of the most stupid and vain, I've ever read. These guys were married and never talked together, just acting based on what they guessed the other needed?!?!?!? Is that for real? Because honestly it was ridiculous... And let me tell you that only after half of the book, they were already making up, realising how stupid they were...
Don't waste your time here.

A great addition to the wolfbane trilogy for those people who are like me and want to stay a little bit more in this universe.

Jamie and Oliver's story was one I was looking forward to see how it got resolved at the end, and this book provides us while still giving us the steam and funny bits we all love from Lola's stories. I am looking forward for reading about London next

Very honestly, though the book is well written, I was kind of happy and kind of disappointed with the story. On one hand the balance of love and emotions is good but on the other hand, if old issues, even 4 year old ones got resolved with so little effort, life would be so amazing.

Giving love a chance

Wow loved this book. Jamie is an amazing character and I get where she was coming from but I was so excited that Oliver got his chance and he took it. Communication is key in a relationship and sometimes we don’t realize how we make them feel. Great job Lola!

Simple and perfect!

This one was shorter than the other books but it has all the perfect details and right amount of information. This book made me really happy & I love the authors vulnerability at the end regarding pregnancy information… it gives me a lot of respect for her and makes me want to read more of her books!

Surprised by how great it was

Normally when I read a book in the same series but telling someone else's story I lose interest and have more loyalty to the original main characters. But surprisingly I couldn't out this one down and loved getting to see Oliver's and Jamie's story come to a close

This book is for Jamie and Oliver's. Book nine is London and Gunnar's turn.

This book was about Jamie and Oliver, the love they had for each other and that Oliver was not going to give up on! It t also about good friends that gave Oliver the help and advice he needed so that he could try something different.
