Angst... Drama... Friendship... And football. Will you survive senior year?

It starts with a shaky truce. Unite forces to repair the damage caused by Miley’s expose on the team and help her finish her college submission.

He’s everything she despises.
She’s everything he’s supposed to hate. Only they both have too much riding on their senior year to quit.

This would be a decent read if there was chemistry between the two MC. I just felt nothing between them. The story in the beginning was slow (like this was going to be a full length novel) and the ending was rushed.

I don't know if that's because this is a short story but I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would. It felt like the whole purpose of this book was to introduce the characters for the next books, not to tell Miley and Avery's story. I'm not sure if I'll read the next books in the series. 2 ⭐

I'm not one for the "trampled upon" heroine and this poor girl is the personification of pitiful

Excerpts from his pov - this is her from start to nearly the end:
- her dejected expression
- she took a shuddering breath (not the in-the-throes-of-passion kind)
- a crestfallen expression
- hurt flashed over her face
- she'd made some really f*c%!ng awful choices
- her expression fell
- dejection glittered in her eyes

Excerpts from her POV:
- dragging my withering heart with me
- my heart felt more bruised than ever
- I laughed, but it came out strangled
- smothering my hurt
- stuffing down my hurt
- my heart ached
- my heart splintered

2 stars because I enjoyed catching up with the 1st generation characters

This is a prequel that kicks off the next generation Rixon Raiders. It is relatively a short read as it is 12 chapters. This story follows Avery Chase (Cam and Hailee's kid from The Trouble with You) and Miley Fuller. It also introduces us to the other kids and this prequel sets up Lily Ford's (Jase & Felicity's kid) story with Thatcher's kid, YUP now that's some twist considering that bad blood between the fathers.

STORY PLOT

It is the start of senior year but the thing in a small town of Rixon people are not so forgiving if you target the football team. Miley Fuller (main h) spent her junior year undercover for the school newspaper to get the perfect story on the preferential treatment of athletes, specifically, the football players. When the story broke everyone she began to establish friendship with felt betrayed, especially, Avery Chase (main H) who is the QB and leader of Rixon High. Her focus was so tunneled on the story that she tried to stuff down her feelings and growing relationship with Avery until it was too late. These two try to avoid each other until Miley is forced to shadow Avery and the team to write a story on the work and dedication that goes into a football season. Eventually these two work out their problems but it is quite a bumpy ride since Miley broke Avery's trust early on.

MAIN CHARACTERS

➳ Avery Chase = main hero who is the golden boy of Rixon High. He is the older brother to Ashleigh (who is a extroverted freshman). He has the weight on his shoulders juggling school, protecting his sister and coach's daughter, keeping up his grades, and impressing scouts from Notre Dame.
➳ Miley Fuller = main heroine who is basically a social pariah at school now since the story she wrote at school. She is reserved and has her sights on writing an amazing story that will set her application to Northwestern apart from others applying to the school.
➳ Secondary characters = Seeing Cam and Jase as father's was the cutest and sweetest thing ever. They are so supportive and have really grown up throughout the years. I am also happy to see the gang as close as ever and their kids are now even friends.

THEORY TIME

Erza (Mya & Ash's adopted kid): What is he involved in? He seems mysterious and broody as well as the total opposite of Ashleigh. I am curious to see their dynamic and how they'll end up together.

➳ Lily Ford: Off-Limits is Lily's book with Thatcher's kid as per the Epilogue of this book suggested. It is definitely a forbidden romance in the making and I do wonder that since she seems socially awkward and experiences panic attacks in social settings, if something is going to happened with her with the rival school.

Did anyone else get Degrassi and Lakehurst vibes when they said the rival school burnt down and kids had to be transferred to Rixon High? It felt like that, let's just hope no one dies like JT.

PRAYER FOR THAT... L.A. COTTON PLEASE DON'T LET SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPEN

YOURS TRULY 💖

Overall~

A lot of the plot was telling rather than showing, especially, what happened in the past. I feel that L.A. Cotton may do like she did with the Wicked Bay series adding a short novella to give readers a deeper look at the couple's backstory.

Why only 4 stars?
The plot fell a little flat for me as I felt their relationship moved very quickly at the end. It went from being confused 10 out of 12 chapters to a forever love. LIKE WHAT!? Lastly, how Micah treated Miley was NOT ok. He literally drugged her to make a fool of her. That's not cool, ever. Avery was pissed initially but at the end of the book he was friends with him again and Miley did not even seem to mind.

This needed to be way, way LONGER like full novel length 😭😅 I love the Rixon Raiders and will gladly read about their kiddo's for however long this series goes. I'm so excited for Lily Ford's book and this little novella about Hailee and Cam's Son had me all kinds of excited for whats to come in this next gen series.

I rounded this up because Cameron as a dad saying to Avery "Oh, don't be like that. You can talk to me about this stuff. I'm a cool dad. I'm down with the kids" had me smiling and all giddy like.

Also I need Xanders book like yesterday.

Miley and Avery are seniors in school. Avery has been aggravated with Miley since junior year. He likes her. But doesn't want to acknowledge that. There connection is hot. I can't wait to see what happens to them.

I’m so happy to be back at Rixon high. I love this world L.A. Cotton has created. This series is the next generation of Rixon Raiders. It can be read as a standalone but you’d be missing out as the Rixon Raiders series is really good. If you like angst teen romances your in the right place. If you’ve read the other book you are also in for a treat as we revisit the family.

Miley wants to be a journalist. She doesn’t want anything to stand in her way but what if you’ve been thinking about your future all wrong. Now Miley has to correct a story she didn’t see from both sides.

Avery is a leader. He’s focused and determined. He doesn’t need to babysit anyone but he can’t help caring about the women in his life. Can he forgive Miley?

I absolutely loved this. The new series is now in sight and this is a great taste to start it off. Go Raiders!!

Rixon Raiders fans rejoice- the next generation is here!!

This is a prequel novella to the second generation series, though I'll admit I read it after I read Off- Limits- the first full length in the series. We get a tiny glimpsed into Avery and Miley in that book, so of course I had to come back and get their full story. And, it was a great treat- though since it's a novella, we don't quite get as much character depth or addiction as we do with the full length, but LA beautifully establishes a transition from the OG raiders to the new with this novella.

We get to see Cam and Hailee from our OG's as parents to Avery, Jase now retired as the new Raiders coach, and a glimpse into all of the other kiddos whose stories will be filling put the pages of the next generation novels.

Avery is radically imperfect- angry and emotionally suppressing like a few of the Raiders we met in the past- perhaps the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.....and he's extra grumpy and aspiring expose journalist Miley for the piece she did on the team that caused a lot of trouble. But, soon he finds himself having to work with her- and these two have to work out all their feelings.

This is short and sweet and just the rite bite to get your palette hungry for the rest of this crew. I have a feeling these kiddos are going to make me fall even harder than their parents- and I'm pretty sure they are going to be just as entertaining and even more dramatic! Bring it on second generation- I'm excited for you!

A prequel novella to the Rixon High series where we get a taste of not only Cameron but Jason as dads!! Gah you guys!! I am so excited about this series and I can’t believe it’s here already!

This novella is about Avery, Cameron’s oldest kid and Miley, a journalist who played him. Their story is cute, on the lighthearted side but will still pull on your heart strings a little. I kind of loveddd them. Expect the typical couple, high school, family and team dramas. Just from this snippet of this new series and characters, I already know it’s gonna be as good or better than Rixon Raiders!

I am so so excited about the first full length novel in the series. L. A. Cotton sure know how to get us intrigued about her upcoming characters and books. I am so so curious about Lily and her past and knowing who her man will be and who he is son of, gahhh. It’s gonna get real interesting. Jase will flip and I am here to see it *laughs*.

Blurred Lines is the perfect introduction to the next generation of Rixon Raiders, the spin off series from LA Cotton about the children from the original series. I have been ready to dive back into this world since the previous series ended, and the novella lived up to every one of my expectations.

Avery Chase is in his senior year at Rixon High and has his whole football career ahead of him, he just needs to decide if he follows his own dreams or those of his father. Miley has her own career aspirations in journalism, and she will do anything to get into her dream school, even if that means betraying the beloved Rixon Raiders football team, and their captain Avery in their junior year. Will Avery be able to make it up to Avery now a new school year has started?

I loved meeting these new characters and also seeing some familiar faces in the parents. LA Cotton has set up this new series so well, giving hints as to the future stories which only keep you wanting more. I cannot recommend it enough!

What a Valentine's treat!! And an epic start to this new series.. setting us up for lots more treats in store.
Coming back to Rixon High sets the bar high for L.A. Cotton but as always she managed to surpass expectation and this story brings in the new generation in glorious technicolour.
Cam's son Avery - star QB - should definitely not want Miley - school newspaper head editor who betrayed him and the team last year - but it appears the pull is strong.
Will he resist? Can he resist?
There's a lot riding on Senior year, and emotions run high even in this short story.
And of course not to forget the introduction of Lily, Coach (Jason) Ford's daughter, boy is that story going to be one hell of a ride! Cant wait !

It's here the first book in the next generation it may be a prequel but it full of everything I have come to expect from this author and all the characters who became like family. Avery is Cam and Hailee's son and the star QB and Miley is the girl he shouldn't want but we know these boys never go the easy route. I was happy the angst and drama that I have come to love is there and that we not only get to meet some of the other kids but also that the guys are all still as close and that age hasn't changed them. If you enjoyed the Rixon Raiders series you will love this introduction to a new era.

This book is everything I have come to expect and love from the Rixion Raiders and L.A. Cotton. It’s the perfect lead in to a whole new generation. It gives you just enough so you know what to expect from the characters to come and of course we get to see our beloved originals as parents!!! I loved it all.

This book only made me more excited to return to Rixon High. It was awesome getting to see Cameron & Jason as parents. I am extremely curious about Lily & I loved Ashleigh. I am looking forward to seeing all the heirs of the Rixon Raiders get their happy ending! Avery & Miley’s story was a great start to this new series. I’d love to read Miley’s newspaper stories that she wrote, it would only enhance their story in my opinion. I really really enjoyed their short story.

The prequel to Rixon High, holy heck has left me feeling all the feels. I am ready for the series is a friggin understatement. I absolutely adore we get to be introduced to all the characters and it has really set the tone ready for Off Limits & we see our FAVS from Rixon Raiders as adults!

"𝓗𝓮'𝓼 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓼𝓱𝓮 𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓹𝓲𝓼𝓮𝓼. 𝓢𝓱𝓮'𝓼 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓱𝓮'𝓼 𝓼𝓾𝓹𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓸 𝓱𝓪𝓽𝓮."

Avery Chase is the star quaterback and ready to excel in his senior year but when Miley Fuller is thrown back in his path it can only mean one thing right?

ʜᴀᴛᴇ. ʟᴏᴠᴇ. ᴀɴɢꜱᴛ. ʙᴇᴛʀᴀʏᴀʟ.

This prequel honestly will leave you with heart wrenching moments, lusts & romance at its finest. Avery & Miley's connection will leave you being drawn to them & your heart complete.

"𝓔𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓯𝓮𝓵𝓽. 𝓘 𝓯𝓮𝓵𝓽 𝓲𝓽 𝓽𝓸𝓸"

We definitely get an insight into Lily's story and my heart aches for her but her story is only just beginning but seeing Avery all protective of her is absolutely beuatiful. But her story is just beginning...

LA Cotton is my one click author and this prequel is preparing you for the world of Rixon High!

Pre order OFF LIMITS now!! 💙

I was the girl who dared to go up against the Rixon Raiders, and now I had to pay the price.

What would you do when you had an impossible choice to make. Your future career or love? Miley has an impossible choice to make and in a town like Rixon where everything centres around football, she may have just made the wrong one.

The Rixon Raiders are back and better than ever. This time it’s the next generation. Jason, Cameron and Asher’s kids are at Rixon high and i can’t tell you how excited I am.

Blurred lines is a Rixon High prequel and the story of Avery Chase’s senior year. He’s star quarterback, captain and Cameron Chase’s son.

He’s struggling with the expectations of everyone else, making his dad and uncle Jase happy all while trying to figure out senior year and being betrayed by Miley.

After that ending I need Off Limits more than I need to breathe!! March 30th can’t come quick enough

Will the next generation blaze their own paths or live in the shadows of their parents legacies?

This is a great introduction to the next generation of Rixon High School alumnae, and of course, there’s plenty of tension and drama in this captivating enemies to something more story.

Avery and Miley have issues with each other and for good reason. I love the push and pull between these two. There are so many reasons why they should not work but there is a spark that’s undeniable.

There’s lots of new characters to get to know, both good and bad, and there are some old friends too who make appearances throughout.

A well written, fast paced sports romance, which had me cheering from the sidelines for a happily-ever-after...an advanced copy of this book was given to me by the author
