This volume features the origin story of Zordon and Zedd, and it's some of the best world building I've seen in the MMPR series, the art looks a bit rushed though, trying to meet deadlines? Perhaps, it's a shame, because I would have given it five stars otherwise, it could have been great.

4.5 stars. Ryan Parrott is diving DEEP into Power Rangers history and is writing changes that will change these characters forever. I’m beyond intrigued to continue to see where this story goes. This story isn’t going where I expected it to go and I’m thrilled to be along for this ride. These comics are so dang good. Seriously.

Easily the best Mighty Morphin has been so far.

You have Zordon's old buddy come back to "unite" earth with his people. But we all know that's bullshit. And Zordon ain't no idiot. The stakes have never been higher either as we're about to get a invasion on earth. Also, we leard about Zedd, and holy shit his backstory is FUCKED up. I loved it so much.

A 5 out of 5.

The aftermath of the previous arc unfolds as the Rangers deal with Lord Zedd's takeover of Angel Grove, as well as the reactions of the citizens. Then it's flashback time as the truth about Zordon and Zedd comes to light in explosive fashion. Plus, there's a darker threat on the horizon that might have the Rangers calling the Omega Rangers back to Earth, because there's a war a'comin'.

This volume's very good. The flashbacks are almost more enticing than the main plot, because of all the links that it makes and the deep dive into Zordon and Lord Zedd's past, as well as the Zeo Crystal and the Eltarians. It's all stuff that I'd have loved to see explored in the TV show, but of course that wasn't to be. The main plot's still great, and the interplay between the Rangers continues to impress (especially the stuff with Billy, and with Matt and the others at Promethea).

Francisco Renna continues pencilling duties for three of the four issues here, with the fill-in (if you can call it that) provided by the incomparable Dan Mora who launched Go Go Power Rangers way back when.

This may be the calm after one storm and before another, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored, because the stuff happening here will shape the Rangers going forward for a long time.

The backstory of Zordon and Zedd is getting unearthed. Ryan has done such a great job of really expanding the lore and world of the 90s show into a multiverse that makes sense and connects so many threads. Zordon isn't only a mage leader, but someone with a past and loyalties. Where does Zordon's allegiance truly lie?

Matt's ranger journey is so interesting to compare to our main heroes. He's publicly a ranger now and that definitely affects his school life.

I loved seeing Billy being held accountable by Zordon. The relationships in these comics are so much more dynamic that they were in the source material.

Another great interaction happened in this volume. Tommy and Matt discuss being the green ranger. These "passing of the torch" moments play out better in the comics that the show.

Zag!

The Eltarian War has begun!

I give this book a 5/5. I'm lukewarm about this story arc, but the world in which it's happening is so rich. I wanted more personal moments between the rangers in this volume, but their personalities still shone through in their dialogue and actions when working together.

Okay, so this was the coolest volume of the series so far. I loved the plot (both in present time on Earth and the past on Eltar). We learn more about Zordon's history with his people and how the Zeo crystal fits in. This had such a cool plot development character-wise, that it will be hard to top. I'm absolutely loving these. Make sure to read this series in tandem with Power Rangers, as I can feel a crossover happening in the near future.

This comic series keeps getting better.

I picked up the first book in the series for a little nostalgia read on a long flight but really bought into the series.

The two main storylines over the first three books for me, have been written so well that it absolutely matches the feel of the original show. The twist in the book here was a total surprise and gave two characters I’ve known for 30 years some actual background! It felt such a good back story that I’m surprised it wasn’t what was originally planned when the show was first created. (I’ve checked…there was no real back story for Z and Z)

Kinda hoping the show doesn’t get too fantastical (slightly worried it might based on the ending) but definitely in for Book 4!

Let's face it, there isn't a Power Rangers comic that I'm not going to like in this run. Ryan Parrott is on fire with his writing as this comic continues to roll on and be great. I love what he's doing with the splitting of the teams to give us concurrent comics that will occasionally meet. This volume finds the aftermath of Zed's takeover and what the endgame is going to be. I can't wait for the next volume as it will bring this run to an end and I think it's going to be good!

IN WHICH EVERYTHING CHANGES.

Seriously, if you are a big fan of the show and are reading the comic, this one is a gamechanger.

.

Also, turns out the spoiler I read was for Power Rangers and not Mighty Morphin'

Also, more like amirite?

This volume is setting up the next big crossover. We get a lot of flashbacks to Zordon’s youth and a lot of interesting world building. Even more exciting though, is the origin story of Lord Zed, which provides the characters much more motivation than he ever had before. The art is good throughout but the highlight has to be the brief return of Dan Mora.

This is so good. The threats are becoming more real and the power moves are being made. Human interactions still take center stage and are thr driving force behind this series with the action helping accentuate it.

Absolutely Morphinomenal! The retcon of Lord Zedd's orgin was fantastic and bolstered an already strong lead in to the Eltarean War.
