I was hoping to like this second chance romance with high school sweethearts and a love child one didn’t know about. However, I wasn’t a fan of the teenage attitude that the mom lets the daughter get away with. I didn’t think this new chapter of the Guardians of Mayhem MC sounded very smart or like they knew how to run a new chapter on their own. Also, the bad guys would do drive by firebombs and shooting. We never really see them or a face-to-face confrontation. It was like they were cowards throwing a tantrum trying to get attention. Once, a bartender stirs GOM MC to a random house with a couple in it to throw them off. To be honest, it was such a weird moment to add to the story. The characters don’t play a part anywhere else in the book.
Claire is all over the place. Charlie/Gunner needs to be seen by a professional. The relationship they had in the beginning, is basically him trying to groom her. Get real! A 23 year old man with a child of 16 years. He promises her that he will get out of the military, won't go on dangerous missions. He lied to her and she found out she was pregnant. His mother didn't like her and made her life hell. So Claire and the daughter left the area, landing in an area that Gunner will come across them. Drama happens. Words said in anger and a 12year old daughter who runs away. All this while the club is in danger from other club.
Gunner has uncontrollable rages. Claire feels more guilt than she should, about keeping the daughter a secret. Did not like any of the characters or the way the author wrote.
Gunner and Claire were young and in love. Now Gunner was off to the Navy and his missions kept getting more and more dangerous as he became a special op. Claire had stood by him hoping that in the near future he would come back to her to start their lives together…until Gunner re-upped without talking to her first. That’s when Claire knew she had to move on.
Now years later Claire thinks it’s time that Angel knows of her father. Gunner isn’t the man she left behind all those years ago. He’s twice his size and deals with PTSD at times and he is also a member of the Guardians MC.
Their journey is of love and trust and trying to put a family together now all the while the MC’s rivals are breathing down their backs. Claire just wants to make sure her daughter will be safe.
Love reading about the Guardians of Mayhem MC. This particular book, Gunnar by Hope Stone is so intense and very steamy about Gunner and Claire. The Guardians are still having issues with the Devils and Gunner is a bit of a hot head. He tends to get angry very quickly. He still thinks about the one that got away and that was Claire. Twelve years later and Claire is trying to get in touch with Gunner. She has something to tell him. This story was very intense and very steamy. I hoped that Gunner and Claire would reconnect. Claire was thinking that Gunner was going to disappear again. But now he has something to fight for. A family with Claire. I would highly recommend reading this story. It ties in with the other books and tells you about the characters from the other books. I was sent a free book and am choosing to leave this review.
Gunner has been having flashbacks of his military life and of Claire, his "childhood" sweetheart. One day, while in Santa Fe to help set up the Guardians's newest chapter, he sees something he never thought he'd see again: Claire. And she's crossing the street with a young female teenager version of himself; he feels bewildered and angry. She contacts him some time after and let's just say that the reunion doesn't go very smoothly.
Throw in some tangled emotions, some new ones, a smart Angel, a few Devils of Destruction misdeeds and some sexy parts and you'll get this very well written continuation, in this pretty great series.
I honestly reviewed a free copy of this book, offered to me by the autor.
Gunner was in the navy, he suffered from PTSD . His girl while he was in the military was Claire. He reenlisted without discussing it with her, they got into a huge fight & split up. Now 12 years later she needed to speak to him.
Claire lived in Santa Fe & Gunner was now transferred to the Santa Fe chapter to help Mustang recruit and take care of the Devil of Destruction problem.
Story isn't appropriate for ages under 18 due to the sex & violence content.
As discussed in my review for books 1-10, there was an existing errors. In this book, there continue to be editing errors but not as bad.
Gunner & Clare: TRIGGERS: military deployment, PTSD, pyromancy, drugs, paternity. Twelve years ago they were sweethearts, he joined the military and she waited faithfully. But gunner just kept reenlisting and leaving Clare to wait. Until she gets fed up. Now in the present Gunner is out of the military but in an MC and Clare is back with a secret. This book has potential but I felt like there wasn't enough club inclusion in the story. I also didn't really feel the chemistry between the main characters. The book moreso focused on the new relationship that Gunner now have to work on. It was ok but my cup of tea.
12 years, 12! To tell your child’s father he has a kid. I strongly dislike Claire. “It was time for Angel to know who her father was.” YA THINK! It’s been time. This impacted her child as well, but she did not think of that, she only cared about her hurt little feelings. When I find out she had a chance to tell him 12 years ago. The book went downhill for me. The same way she called his mom to find him 12 years later, it could have been done sooner. Her excuse was that his mom didn’t like her…seriously, that does not matter, you do your part and get in touch with him! Ridiculous storyline.
SPOILERS. The characters are good. The plot could be expanded. The location and timing doesn’t work. In Chp 7, he picks up Angel from Claire, who live in Santa Fe, drive to Edgewood to go to Martha’s, then drop her back off, then go to the warehouse in Edgewood? They are over an hour apart. This back and forth with location doesn’t make sense. This is also supposed to be the first full length novel of the series except it’s super short at just over 200 pages. These books have so much potential but don’t use it. Also, I bought them straight from the author as e-books and there are so many grammatical and spelling errors through all of them.
A great and beautiful love story, within the backdrop of the Guardians of Mayhem, their new chapter in Santa Fe and their rival MC the Devils. It’s unputdownable! Gunner aka Charlie, ex military and his former girlfriend Claire were an item 12 years ago but split up over Charlie’s extending his overseas deployment against Claire’s wishes. There was a child, Angel, but Claire never told Charlie at the time. They now have the chance to deal with their past, Angel with her father, and Claire and Charlie to reconnect... I received this book as an arc and this review is entirely voluntary.
Gunner is part of the Guardians Of Mayhem and they are going to set up a new charter in Santa Fe about a hour away from their original charter in Edgewood. But Gunner has a lot of messed up back history from being a sniper in the military so he suffers from ptsd. But the one thing he really wants is to find Clair his lost love. Little does he know she is looking for him because of a 12 year old secret. Their daughter. So enjoy this good read and see how or if it works out for them!!
Charlie . . . I like the fact that Claire still calls him that since she had known him by his given name when they were younger, not Gunner that he is known as now. In other books in the series the heroine seldom, if ever, knows the birth name of the hero. I find that sad. I know I would want to know the given name of the man before we gete into a real relationship. But then again, that could be just me.
The story is good. You will fall in love with Gunner and Clair and, pehaps, see some of yourself in them.
This continuation of the Guardians of Mayhem series is so heartwarming. I loved Gunner, Claire and Angel’s sweet story. Without going into details of their story, I’ll just say there’s action, suspense, drama, romance, hot sex, and an HEA. If you haven’t yet picked up a book in this series, you should. Every single addition is an exciting read. This honest review is based on a complimentary copy from the author
I believe I've given this rating only once before but, this book was so boring that I'm shocked I didn't just erase it. I soldiered through this book over a 5 day period (I go through 2-3 books a day) but I just couldn't get into these characters. The little girl was the most level headed of the bunch. Keep in mind this is just my opinion so feel free to check it out for yourself. Obviously from the overall rating there are some people out there who have enjoyed it.
The storyline is pretty good but somehow there is no real conclusion to it in this book. Maybe it continues on in the next book in the series. The main characters are rather unremarkable in their personalities. Met when they were young, fell in love, boy enlists, girl feels abandoned...YadaYada. There was an immaturity level and disconnect in the characters for me even though it’s been 12 years since they were together for the last time.
The author continues to pull us into the lives of the Guardians of Mayhem MC members and we are more than happy to spend time with them. Gunner and Claire had a relationship when they were younger but went their separate ways. Now that they are back in the same town will they get a second chance at happily ever after?
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nothing like a biker second chance. This was a little different and I loved it. Yes we had all the MC rivalries with other clubs, we had the drugs and drama. We also had the ex navy seal with PTSD. But what I liked was that these guys were still on a mission to protect there home towns and make people safe from the bad clubs and drugs. It was a great book.
Gunner has always put his mission before anything. He was that way when he enlisted. Now he is out after 7 years. Now, working on a mission with his new motorcycle club. The last thing he thought he would see was his girlfriend from 12 years ago who walked away. She wasn't alone. She had a little girl who looked just like him. Was she his...
I had seen the advertisement for it and was eager to read it. It took me a while to read because it was flat. It wasn’t boring just going over the same stuff over and over was hard to read. I couldn’t connect with the characters. Nothing was ever solved. They talked around their problems or just left them alone.
Gunner is ex SEAL and now with the Guardians. Has PTSD and is trying to get a handle on it. His long lost Claire is in Santa Fe where a new chapter is starting for the Guardians. When Gunner sees Claire and a little girl who looks like him, he’s shocked to say the least. The story does not disappoint and the Devil’s Destruction bikers don’t want the Guardians moving in?
This was a great story. I was so happy to see the newest book in the series was out! The two main characters had very strong chemistry and they didnt fight it. This is a great series and i cant wait for the next book
This book grabbed my attention from the beginning to the end. Its a good page turner, has strong and powerful characters and well plotted. A great read and a must read. I received an ARC for my honest review
This is one of the books in the guardians of Mayhem series and can be read as a stand alone. This is Gunnars story and it is very emotional but enduring. His little girl is priceless. It is a very good story and I am glad I got to read it. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
Oh my goodness I loved Gunner’s story! So worth the wait. This while series has been amazing and I’m looking forward to more! Charlie is an amazing character. Keep up the great work Hope!

Ms. Stone does it again! Gunner, Claire & Angel are great characters! Storyline flows quickly with the right amount of danger, angst, playfulness & love! A hard to put down page turner!
This is Claire and Gunner’s story. I enjoyed this second chance romance as these two childhood friends to lovers reconnect. Secrets will be revealed as danger is close. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
