This book picks up where Victor: Her Ruthless Crush ended – with Victor threatening recently graduated Dawn into a marriage/ownership. She marries him and he owns her for 10 years. When I started reading, I was excited to see what levels Victor would go to achieve his revenge. Unfortunately, large sections of this book quickly became boring and not what I expected! Why? Nothing much happens! The book spans ten years during which Dawn and Victor are for the most part not around each other. Don’t get me wrong, Victor does get a few vengeful deeds in, and when he does they are very mean. But these acts are sporadic. If you think this may be a “dark” book, think again. There’s definitely nothing dark about it, although there is one thing he does that was demeaning and showed little regard for a person that he supposedly felt so strongly for. The good thing is it didn’t seem like something that he would ever do considering his obsession with Dawn and the bad news it felt like the author just needed to add something “shocking.” For me, the scene just came out as a fail.
In my opinion, the story really doesn’t start to improve until past the halfway mark. Its saving grace is that the book, fortunately, ends on a strong note. By the time I finished HER RUTHLESS OWNER I was left wondering why Dawn continued to have such strong feelings for adult Victor when I would have been past done with him years ago. I hope he is redeemable in the next book, and I really hope it’s believable.
My final thoughts are: This book didn’t need to exist. A large portion of it could have been edited out and the important parts added to either the first or the final book. I hope stretching out books isn’t going to be a trend with this author. Is it well written? Yes. Are there parts of this book that I liked? Yes. But that doesn’t change the fact that, in my opinion, there just isn’t enough interesting or necessary story here to be the middle book of a trio. If you’ve read the first book then you’ll need to read portions of this book to understand what’s set to happen next. It does end on a cliffhanger, but that should be expected. I’ll read the third, but I seriously hope that it’s better than this one.
Because I always expect more from authors that I know can do better, I’m giving this 2 stars and have my fingers crossed for book 3.
*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
So we start Book 2 with Victor proposing a deal that's supposed to be payback for his and his father's demise in Book 1. Parts of this were good (Victor and Dawn are always hot together and I love the romantic gestures he makes at times) but I REALLY hate long 'misunderstandings,' and 10 years is beyond the pale. First of all, the timeline is ridiculous. Victor saddling himself to Dawn for 10 years a way to punish her made no sense. To compound that, his mafia partner waiting 10 years to have Victor marry his daughter was totally unbelievable. 10 years?? How long does it take the daughter to get a bachelor's and master's degree if she's not also working your way though school?6 years? 7? Definitely not 10. The fact that Victor only visited Dawn once a year, on their anniversary, for the first 8 years? You can't be serious. I hate huge time jumps like this, spread out over a few chapters. Dawn could have BEEN told Victor the truth about , much earlier than 10 years later. I get that he wasn't trying to hear anything right at the beginning. But come on. Also, are we supposed to believe that her family never wanted to visit, or wanted her to visit, in all of that time?? I was so looking forward to this book but the whole storyline is implausible for no good reason. The whole bit with Asher made me want to pull my hair out and the fact that we're pretty much back where we started, just with a new twist, is just ugh. Roll on Book 3 I guess. ( I will be reading it by the way lol)
So 3 stars because I do like the characters; i just found the storyline lacking.
Again I’m not sure why this is a trilogy. I am pretty sure this could have been one book, at most two. Also TT keeps doing this one scene in her books lately to assert dominance and control over the heroine and I absolutely hate it. Loathe it! It seems disrespectful to me and then we are supposed to believe the women can forgive the disrespect and fall in love with these guys. I’m sorry I’m not buying it.
Theodora Taylor loves writing about alpha males in her novels and the empathic women who love them. But unfortunately, these characteristics are often distorted. The men exhibit all types of abusive behavior towards the women they claim to want. These behaviors include emotional neglect, imprisoning or trapping these women, and forcing them to perform acts against their will with the intention of humiliating, demeaning, and dominating them. This type of behavior isn't sexy or romantic.
The women/victims in Theodora Taylor's novels are always depicted as caretakers who can't help but love these men no matter how much they hurt them. Like a typical victim of abuse, the women tend to disregard all of the horrific acts directed towards them when their men show a shred of kindness every now and then. The female characters are often described as kind and patient and put the well-being of others above themselves, but they are actually weak and damaged. They merely shrug their shoulders and quickly succumb to whatever subpar treatment their partner is willing to dole out while hoping that their kindness in the face of oppression will change the man. This is totally unrealistic and delusional. These "romantic" relationships are toxic to the point where they are unredeemable.
Other Theodora Taylor books that feature this terrible relationship dynamic include Holt, Zahir, Luca, Amber, Stone, Rahid, Her Russian Billionaire, Her Russian Beast, Her Russian Brute, His Revenge Baby, Billie and the Russian Beast, etc...
For Victor Part 2, I became so disgusted I couldn't read anymore. I'm over it! I'm sick of reading so-called romance novels about women who are abused but are supposedly turned on by it. It's extremely irresponsible. Women in Dawn's situation who have spent a lifetime dealing with those types of parents and a husband like Victor would suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder for years and would need intense therapy to heal the wounds inflicted upon them.
No part of me is wishing for Dawn and Victor to have a happily ever after.
I should have given up on Theodora Taylor a long time ago, but she's obviously a talented writer and storyteller. I just wish she would stop using this same tired formula and depicting it as romance.
Style: Mafia Romance (IR) Story: 4/5 Enjoyment: 4/5 Dark Level: 1/5 Sexual Level: SEX-CITINGLY GOOD Triggers: No Violence: Yes Male: Harsh & Revengeful Series: Book 2 of 3 Pages: 221 Audio: GOOD (f/m) Kindle Unlimited: Yes
STORY: PART 1 I thought where the book picked up was good. Victor, over the years, appears more stern and harsh with Dawn. He is definitely not the same Victor from book one. He has lost everything and has rebuilt. Dawn’s punishment is to be married and isolated for 10 years. Her first year was interesting. Going into part two, I am still finding myself engaged.
PART 2 chapter 7 Year 1 it was a new Dawn, self improved while still isolated. By year 2, totally something different. Victor, broke Dawn as a reminder to her punishment.
PART 3 chapter 13 Part 3 was ok. It went through the remaining years of the 10 year isolation and now has come to the last year. Dawn is working on herself as well as resisting someone she met at school that could be a problem, Asher.
PART 4 chapter 20 Part 4 Victor, is rediscovering Dawn again and finds himself falling while still conflicted. This is the turning point where Victor learns the truth about what really happens. However, he manages to screw that up.
With all that being said, I wasn’t sure what to expect with her being isolated for the 10 years but; it was interesting as Victor, still communicated with her. She even had freedom to go out and do things, but most of what she cut off was by her choice. Book two still was engaging for me, it was due to the story telling. Watching as they came together when needed, but watching their lives apart play out as well. The scenes where Dawn went back to school, at times felt high school-ish with the mean girl and that whole storyline with Asher. I just remember thinking these people are late twenties to thirty, smh with an eye roll.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY I like their sexual chemistry. It has developed from their times as teenagers. I think in the beginning for Victor, it was I hate you for betraying me sex and for Dawn it was I need human contact sex.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: Excuse the spelling of the names as I listen to the audio.
Phantom.l - I really like him. He is good for Victor at his side. Didn’t see too much of Han.
Lena- I am disappointed that Dawn chose to cut all contact with Lena. She was her best friend.
Dawn’s family - Still not a fan of her father. Don’t doubt that he loves her, but that man will do anything no matter who he hurts. I really liked her mom in this one and appreciate the scenes the author gave us with her.
OVERALL: I like book two and look forward to the conclusion of this soap opera of a story in book 3.
TRIGGERS: I don’t think there were really any triggers in this one.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Serious note: If you don’t want to waste hours of your life, read the first year of his “revenge” know that is all that happens for the majority of the book and jump to 70%. You will miss nothing.
If you’ve read this author, you know she has a formula (as most authors do), but it is not employed well here. Victor is a wasted character that could have been really interesting. I was excited for him. But he’s basically [insert any of her other revengy heroes: Holt, whoever] but Chinese and nonverbal. He got this really cool back story that is never explored or even factors into his revenge or sense of betrayal. It’s disappointing.
At 76%, I’m pretty bummed the author spent this entire book spanning ten years of boring “revenge”. I’ve read her before, so I know the large time gaps are her thing, but this was such a wasted opportunity and didn’t really drive the story much. It could have been a final chapter in the first book.
It’s unfortunate to have characters waste so much of their lives over a time period where no development happens. I wanted to see them interact, but the majority of this book is them not interacting. It’s strange and feels a bit of a rip off. The story is almost over and there is just now some story happening which I don’t find myself invested in like I want to be.
Also, there are some glaring editing issues which make it feel rushed.
Victor returns with a vengeance, determined to punish Dawn for the realities of his life. His ten year punishment plan doesn’t go quite the way he’d envisioned, nor I.
When Victor is angered by the kindness Dawn shows someone on his payroll, his punishment for her was beyond comprehension, and I didn’t buy it. I didn’t believe for one second he’d want a witness to his angry, hedonistic and deviant behavior toward Dawn in the manner doled out. It was appalling and I'd wished her reaction had been different, given the circumstances and intent behind his actions.
As for (read the book) Elizabeth, she has still not been dealt with appropriately and Asher was very presumptuous and bold as hell, with apparently, a death wish.
The showdown at the end was everything. Victor was outplayed by his nemesis and the multiple reveals were like a one, two, three—knockout punch. It was brilliant and he didn't see it coming. Highly Recommended: Read It!
Victor: Her Ruthless Husband (Book Three) drops May 6!
After the book 1, he chases her down 4 years later planning to take revenge. He forces her to marry him and spends the next 10 years putting her through hell. His intention was to break her and he succeeds at the very end.
Safety - Not safe at all. He tries to sleep with others, a variety of ow but he couldn't screw them. Certainly not for the lack of trying tho. Years into the marriage, he holds another girl on his lap while cursing his dick for staying limp. He gets engaged to another ow while being still married to h. He plans to dump h for ow and h doesn't find out about all this until much later.
»You had her again, and you lost her without me having to do anything.«

❥ 𝑫𝒂𝒘𝒏 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ I still like her. She is caring, soft and just a good person.
❥ 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 ⋆✮ Hmmm he lost a lot of points. Pure toxicity and it irritated me that he never asks Dawn what really happened that night.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 This was slightly better then the first book in this series but it was highly unrealistic. Victor wants revenge and bonds Dawn to him for ten fucking years! TEN YEARS of toxic behaviour from Victor and ten years of hell for Dawn. This was over the top. As a reader it was very interesting and kind of thrilling but this was just sooo toxic and exaggerated I couldn‘t take it seriously. I‘m glad Dawn finally got some kind of backbone and she stood her ground against Victor most of the time. Again the author skipped a lot of scenes and just told them to us which is takes getting used to. I can’t describe why I liked this book so much because it‘s not a good love story. It‘s toxic and exaggerated but I had so much fun reading it!
𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? If you’ve read the first book.
In the second book of the Ruthless Series Victor and Dawn are back with a vengeance. This story has so many twists and turns along with a lot of emotional ups and downs, so be forewarned this is not your happily ever after romance. If you are familiar with Theodora Taylor’s writing then you know that the story is well written and full of drama with characters you hate one and love the next. When I first got to know Victor and Dawn I enjoyed getting to know them while they were navigating their way to young adulthood but I’m not sure how I feel about them as full fledged adults. Victor, who is set on getting revenge on those he feels wronged him and I’m not sure he can redeem himself in my opinion, but I look forward to seeing him along with some of the supporting characters whom if not were worse than, were just as bad, give it a try in book 3. So if you like plenty of emotional upheaval with a little Mafia action I recommend that you give Victor: Her Ruthless Owner a try.
This book stayed with me long after I finished reading it. I vacillated between being crushed by new Victor’s actions and cheering on glimpses of the old Victor. This book was an emotional roller coaster that is so worth the wait. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m actually thankful I get time between books to process all that is going. I am loving Dawn. Truth be told I’m invested in every single person in the book!! I’m excited and scared for what comes next!!
I honestly don't know how to feel after reading this book. Victor: Her Ruthless Owner picks up exactly where the previous book left off. If you haven't read the first book, don't even attempt to read this one. I don't even know how to feel about Victor in this book. Only thing I do know is that he has to try real hard to redeem himself in my book. I'm definitely looking forward to the conclusion of their story.
The first book in this series had me excited about reading book 2, but honestly I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It was just ok in my opinion. The story didn't really start getting interesting until almost the very end. Nevertheless, I look forward to reading the next part of Victor and Dawn’s story, as well as the rest of the books in the series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I can't believe how pathetic a dragon head is. How he could really work so hard to destroy someone he supposedly loved. How he could isolate and out her with everyone she lived. How she could welcome him after 364 days of nothing but betrayal is beyond me. I really liked Victor as a teen. He had more morals, compassion, and wisdom than he ever showed as a so called adult. He is broken way beyond missing a tongue and I'm so glad Dwan got away. Hope she gets away from her awful father too. Victor better Erase Kuang, go legit, and become a whole real man to gain back even an ounce of my respect in book 3. I hope he suffers a long time and gets the whooping he deserves. I hope I can learn to like him again.
This was a really hard book to read, and although I don't like giving authors 1-3 star ratings I probably should've because this book was more mental abuse than dark romance. I just don't understand why he had to be be that way. Dawn's parents weren't any better than Victor was. Both of her parents were verbally abusive and manipulative. I don't know how Victor can redeem himself in the next book and I truly think her father doesn't have any redeeming qualities left in his body.
Loved this story and it’s complexity. Really don’t like dad but I’m not gonna give any spoilers. Definitely need to read this book if you’re on the fence. If you love this authors you’ll love this series.
Victor: Her ruthless owner showed clearly that miscommunication can sometimes be detrimental to what matters to us the most. This book was another "attention grabber, can't get enough" book. It ends on a cliffhanger but oh its so worth the read. I really can't wait to read Her Ruthless Husband.
This was an okay read...I say okay because I felt like this story has definitely been told before through Holt, Zahir, and definitely Luca story. This book spend a lot of time on revenge. Be interesting to see how the author redeems Victor cause right honestly I don't like him and he needs to come at Dawn correctly.
The saga of Victor and Dawn continues in the second installment of the Ruthless Triad which documents Victor and Dawn's sham marriage of 10 years. He kidnaps her after he college graduation and holds her prisoner in a beautiful home in Rhode Island only to visit her once a year on their anniversary for some revenge sex that is full of passion and pain. This is one crazy relationship. I mean, his revenge is based on a complete misunderstanding that Dawn was just using him for info on his father's mafia business back when they were in high school as kids in Japan. The truth is, they are both still very much in love with each other. But it's such an f'd up situation. I mean, some of the humiliating things he had her doing were pretty awful. Didn't exactly scream "romance novel" but it was compelling stuff. Do people really have relationships like this? I asked myself this a few times and then I remembered how many mafia romances I've read and in their world, I suppose, they exist lol Makes for some pretty entertaining reading for sure.
Also, this is probably one of the first times I was left with a cliffhanger and said to myself, "Now that's how you do a cliffhanger!" I wasn't even upset. It was fitting and leaves you really on edge for more! This is truly a good saga and can't wait for Book #3. 4.5 stars.
That is what Victor thought he was doing when he forced Dawn into marrying him in order to protect everyone she loved from him. He wanted to punish Dawn for the ten-year sentence his father served part of before he died. He was certain she was complicit in he and his father's arrest. No matter how hard she pleaded that it was not true, he just knew she was lying. He had to wash her out of his system and he thought that he could do it by punishing her by making her his prisoner. He tried it for nine years. Just when he thought he could finally get her out of his mind through a loveless marriage to another, their second chance of renewing their love went sideways. There was another interloper that was interested in Dawn too. Nobody believed that she was married at her school. This infuriated Victor to no end. When Dawn's mother needed surgery, he went out of his way to make sure she was comfortable. But that damn interloper made Victor see red and things were said by Dawn that threw him back into his hatred again. The opportunity finally came for Victor to confront Dawn's father and he finally got the truth of what really happened during he and his father's arrest. Dawn was telling the truth all along but now, where is she? She's disappeared with her secret with her.
This story was so good. Theodora always writes such good stories. She even included a past character Alexei Rustanov in this story. He was one who wanted revenge too. I also loved that she included the lawyer, Amber in her story as well. I wanted to kick some sense into Victor. He was hell-bent on revenge, he couldn't see the truth if it stared him in the face. His love made him blind. I don't know why he thought marrying someone else after their ten-year marriage deal was going to work. There is only one thing I hated about this story and it was that it was a cliffhanger. I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! Just when things really have my undivided attention, BOOM, cliffhanger. I can't wait until the next book is published. I know it will good as well because the other two were great.
Following up on the ending of "Victor: Her Ruthless Crush," Dawn has graduated from college and is ready to begin a new chapter of her life when her past catches up to her in the form of ex-boyfriend Victor. Bitter and still full of rage at what he sees as her betraying him, he's set on revenge. What he believes is Dawn's duplicity broke his heart on levels and Victor wants her to pay. His revenge? Marriage, blackmail, and isolation. He wants to take every joy from her. He is a broken man.
When I say this is a rollercoaster ride, Victor is so messed up and so angry. Yet he can't forget about Dawn and what they had before it all fell apart. Victor still craves Dawn physically but doesn't trust her nor trust himself around her. She's still the one thing that makes him lose control. Dawn knows Victor blames her even though events in the first book that ended their relationship where not Dawn's fault. Dawn is scared and angry at Victor for forcing her to abandon her life to pay the debts he feels that she owes him.
What plays out between them in this book are two people once deeply in love who are fighting each other, their pain, and the love between them that continues to exist strongly. This love story is very angsty. Many raw emotions are amplified by Victor and Dawn's mutual distrust, pain, and strong attraction to each other. "Victor: Her Ruthless Owner" is a dark, sexy angsty read and I can't wait to read the final book in this trilogy.
Now, I knew that Victor was out for mad as hell, and out for revenge; but I could not fathom he would treat Dawn this way! He was just too much! I tried to understand him, but where was the love that he had for Dawn? Why did her words, and pleas mean nothing to him? He couldn't in his heart of hearts believe that she would betray him in this manner! But, unfortunately he did believe it! He was a complete asshole to her! 🤬 Miss Dawn held her head high, and tried her best to not allow his cruel treatment to change her. It worked for a while, until he just got more and more evil! I thought there was a chance that an ice chunk had been dislodged from his heart, but after he allowed Dawn to miss her important event, I was done! So, now that you know Dawn's truth, what will you do with that information? Because she wants nothing to do with you now!! Guess I have to jump right into book 3 to see how this plays out. You better right this wrong Victor!! 👍👍👍
This book was Awesome it just blew me away with all the emotions that ran thru me. There were times where I was cheering Victor on and there were times where I wanted to get in the book and punch him. Asher and Elizabeth Ann Margaret were characters that made you want to commit murder. When Dawn finally got her freedom and made it to Amber the breath I didn't know I was holding rushed out with relief but she is still in danger. So now I must endure and wait for the third part to see what happens next. If you don't like dark books please refrain from reading this book. But if Dark is your thing please one-click this today.
I loved the first book! However, miscommunication tropes are the worst!!!!! I love Theodora Taylor work! I've listened to a ton of her books. But sometimes I question her sanity! She creates these wonderfully complex FMC characters and yet you expect me to believe these characters will just accept the actions of the MMCs without a fight?
You're gonna tell me that the man that I fell in love with in high school is gonna forces me into marriage by threatening my loved ones .... While all this could have been fixed with one conversation?!!!
HELL NAWWW!! NOOOPPPEE!! can't do it!! Even though I'm not a fan of this trope, it's still gets 3.8 rounded up to 4
TT, I love your stuff, but I'm gonna have to take a break.

Wow!!! What a captivating thrill ride !!! Victor will give you serious whiplash , vascillating between brutal revenge & swoon worthy sweetness . I am completely addicted to this IR trilogy written by master story teller, Theodora Taylor! I am once again rooting really hard for Dawn & Victor, hoping they will get their well deserved HEA .I am going to get some sleep now and patiently wait for the pre ordered final book to be delivered to my Kindle next month 😀
Theodora has me on the edge of my seat waiting on the next book. Talk about a love/hate relationship. Victor and Dawn are a passionate couple. Their chemistry is off the charts but their communication is lacking. Victor is definitely an alpha but insecure in his feelings for Dawn or rather her feelings for him. He was groomed for his role as dragonhead but can't handle his emotions. I didn't get much sleep last night because I was immediately caught up in their story. I can't wait for the next book. Love her work😘
Okay this book was just bomb all the way around. I so love her mom all she ever want it was a bright future for her daughter and we got to understand her more. And I for 1 learn to forgive the mother for the way she treated Dawn. And can I please say how much I really like phantom. He is hilarious and I cannot wait for his book. Also let's just say her dad is it total dxish.how could he do that. I feel so bad for victor cause he loved her and still loves her I hope it works out smh I can't wait for the next one . Do yourself a favor Him purchase the book.
