I love the Rosas! If there was a picture for the opitimity of family goals, they would be it. With that, I was a little disappointed in Redeeming the Rose. I wanted new situations where we could see more of that family dynamic. However, for everything that I didn't like about it, Chasing Fire delivered ten-fold.

At first, I wasn't sure about this couple. They just seemed to be on separate wavelengths. Fire and Ice. Idalia Mazzi has no time for men. All she wants to do is focus is on her hotel and her son. Life's just easier that way, but when she starts to take a second look at a certain firefighter, she'll have to face old fears or walk away. Italians are stereotypically passionate people, and she hits all the rungs on the that ladder. Some good. Some not so good. It's one thing to run hot and cold, but it's another to just be plain rude. I cringed multiple times for her lack of people skills. I didn't think she was a good fit for Nixon, but when she finally realizes that she's in, she's completely in. That's the best part.

Nixon's a Rosa. In one sentence, that explains everything. Why is he so perfect? He's a Rosa. Why does he try and thaw the Ice Queen? He's a Rosa. He's everything that we as readers love about the men in Roller Town. They're not without their faults, but they're endearing when they want to be. Nixon is no exception to this. He's full of natural charm as he tries to prove to Idalia he's worthy of her affection. However, as I got closer to the end, I think my heart gave out. I had to skip a few pages because I couldn't focus without knowing. I haven't had my heart ripped out by Emilia Finn in on a while, but I think she might have killed me in those 8 pages. On a side note: My vote is for Arlo to have a book. She's a scene stealer for sure.

I’m really trying

I want to like this series I really do but so far I can’t stand any of these characters. Idailia was beyond frustrating and I would have liked it better if Nixon just backed away from her and found someone else. Her attitude was horrible and yes I know she was dealing with grief but it didn’t seem like she was even trying to work thru it in a healthy way for herself or her son. Mighty interesting how she loathed firefighters until she needed some. She was not a likable heroine. At this point I’m way more invested in Arlo than any other person in this spin-off. I’m also going to go reread the Kincaid so I can remember why I fell for this author in the first place.

So disappointed

Don't waste your time on this one. This is hard to write because I love this author. I am so sorry that Nixon ended up with this selfish, pushy and rude lady. She was horrible the entire book. This took 2days to read and what a waste of time. I am committed to the author and read everything she writes. I really hope the rest of the series is worth the time investment.

There is a reason that I adore this author. she always manages to create characters and storylines that consume me. I loved the story in this one and how it showed what it is like to be a firefighter. It was authentic and real and a little terrifying.

Again, the ending in this one felt abrupt. There just wasn't enough time to process what had happened before it was a HFN ending. I'm still invested in this family but the endings are throwing me a little.

Emilia is one of my all time favorite authors. And just like with all her other books she had me falling in love and sobbing with the characters. Well done.

I was really enjoying this book, I loved their fighting and arguing - it was playful more than actual arguing and it was fun. They were cute, you could feel their chemistry. I loved how Nixon interacted with Max and courted him as much he courted Idalia. I loved how he respected her fears but tried to help her face them and find ways to comfort her. Arlo was a riot and I couldn't get enough of her in this book. Fun all around book until the ending. Ruined the book for me.

DNF @ 37%.

It was just beginning to get somewhat interesting but at this point I'm just bored and over it. With that being said, the following statements are my thoughts based on what I did read.

Her dislike towards firefighters made no sense at all. Like, I was sitting here trying to understand how she could so strongly dislike the profession of firefighters when one literally intended to sacrifice their life for her husbands.

I get trying to protect your son, but what exactly are you protecting him from? A man who has been nothing but kind to you, has nothing but nice things said about him, but it somehow deserving of your disrespect solely because of his profession... Make it make sense.

Even after she explained her reasoning, it still made no sense.

ugh.

Masterpiece

Once again Emilia Finn delivers another masterpiece. Chasing Fire is book 2 in the Gilded Knights Series and is Nixon's story.

Nixon is the youngest of the Rosa brothers. He faces danger every day being a firefighter. Idalia is a young mother who has just moved to town after a tragic accident 2 years prior. When Nixon and Idalia's paths cross their is an instant connection. Nixon is everything Idalia is afraid of, but Nixon won't give up. He pulls out all the stops to woo Idalia and win her over. Nixon is the ultimate book boyfriend and will have you swooning.

It's emotional, compelling, funny, sexy, addictive, explosive and intoxicating. From the prologue I was hooked. I could not put it down. I felt every emotion Idalia did. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what was going to happen and how it was going to end. I was an emotional wreck.

Loved that previous couples made an appearance. The banter between the brothers is hilarious.

Emilia has a way of writing that will draw you in and make you feel apart of the story.

>Book Review -Chasing Fire

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Gilded Knights series and ends in an HEA. This book is all about the firefighter, Nixon. He is suffering trauma from losing a child at a fire, something the child’s father blames Nixon for. When the owner of the new hotel, Idalia, turns Nixon’s head, he has to fight her fear of fire fighters. Idalia and her family were in a house fire. Idalia and her son survived, but her husband perished.

>The banter between all of the characters is one of the best parts of this whole series and this book is no exception. There are some goofball scenes involving a cop/firefighter charity baseball game that really show how men behave. Nixon is a kind and understanding man. Idalia’s son, Max, will not speak due to his PTSD and Nixon relates to him in a sweet and nurturing way. Idalia is a bit of a helicopter mom, but her fear is still governing her actions.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I felt Idalia accepts Nixon and his job fairly easily after her worst nightmare happens at the end.

Still hyperventilating a little

Whew...my heart...my emotions...I’m a basket case. One would think that I’m an Emilia Finn newbie here. I was thoroughly enjoying the laid back witty banter & the slow burn falling in love small town love story that was Nixon & Idalia. His instant obsession, for lack of better words, was just so palpable to me. And Idalia’s demeanor was just so fierce, yet soft & totally relatable. And the way Nix just completely embraced Maximo...le sigh. Idalia & Max was everything Nixon never knew he needed & vice versa. Just an absolute perfect pairing.
But like I said...basket case! I should have known, after reading every other Emilia Finn book, she couldn’t let me go with tears of happiness. When the action heated up...boy did it heat up! I was hyperventilating, let moving my hand from my mouth to my chest, & swiping away tears of anxiety & fear & sadness & relief.
You got me good Emilia, well done. You would think that by now my lesson was learned not to underestimate your ability to hit me in the feels, maybe I’ll learn next time 😂.

ALL the Feels

Wow. Amazing. FANTASTIC. NO words for Nix and Idalia (and Max) are big enough, good enough, for how wonderful this story was. I could not stop reading. The emotions this one evokes... omg. I was lightly crying in the first chapter, hysterically laughing in chapter two. Anxious, nervous, scared, happy, frustrated, excited, elated, and downright sobbing throughout. The epilogue... there isn't a word to describe how poignant... Emilia writes the most amazing characters, they are all different in almost every way. The town is continual and the family theme is so strong. Communication, trust, love. Then she throws in a little Aus, a little foreign, a lot of crazy into a story that is so gripping and emotional.
I love Bobby, Kane, JDH, Spence, Laine, Tink, Kit... I love most of the characters like they are family. Nix and Max and Idalia have me tied up like I was with Aiden and Evie, maybe more. For me, this was her best book yet.

This second book in the Gilded Knights series focuses on firefighting Rosa bro, Nixon. Idalia is a single mom who has renovated and opened a new hotel in Roller town. Her tragic past opens the story and sets the groundwork for the relationship building that occurs between Idalia, Nixon, Max (Idalia’s son) and the rest of the Rosa family. There are some really fun characters (I see you Arlo!) who make reading the book so much more enjoyable, too. The plot is somewhat predictable, but the journey to get there is well with it!

Every book that Emilia Finn has written has been knocked out of the park. I sincerely have enjoyed reading every single one of her books. I may not love all the characters equally, but there are some I love to hate and some I hate to love. If you haven’t read anything she’s written, I’d recommend going back to the beginning and starting with the Survivor series, as her books and series (with the exception of the Imorata series) take place in the same town with many of the characters appearing in other books and covering two generations. But, if that is too much, Emilia Finn’s books can (with the exception of a few duets) be read as standalones

Emilia Finn has done it again!

I am not going to recap this book, but I will say that this is the second book in a new series about the Rosa brothers that are part of this amazing world referred to as Roller Town. The Rosa boys are the big brothers to Abby that we met during the Checkmate Series. Emilia continues to amaze us with every single book. All of her series are connected and if you love alpha males and bad ass females, MMA fighters, police, fire, paramedics, military/black ops/undercover, this umbrella has it all. You absolutely can start anywhere but start at the beginning if you can or at least go back and read it all. This book, just like all the others will make you laugh, cry, tear you heart out, and put it all back together. You will never will disappointed!

Still ⭐️⭐️ because Emilia Finn is an amazing writer. It pains me to say that this is the first book of Finn’s I DNF @ 52%.

I understand trauma. Thought processes become irrational, I get it. Despite knowing all that, Idalia got on my last nerve. “But, what if, a meteor crashed to Earth and you weren’t wearing your gear? You’d get hurt!” Uhh duh.

Nix is a great character, but I loved him more as a secondary one. His actions with everyone, except Idalia, were great. He acted like Idalia owed her time to him because he has a crush. He should have made his wants and wishes known then backed off for her to figure her loads of shit out.

I will continue the rest of the series as well as anything else Finn puts on paper!

Riveting!!!

Idalia moved to town as owner and restorer of the Orencia hotel. She has lived through a fire where her husband was killed as well as the firefighter that saved her and her son. Her son Max is four years old and has been mute ever since the fire. She meets Nixon Rosa at a hotel function and immediately sparks fly. She insisted that she can't have a relationship with the youngest Rosa brother because he is a firefighter. Italia runs hot and cold and their relationship can be quite volatile. Little Max is adorable and each time he finally utters a word is so exciting. I love the Rosa family dynamics. The end is quite emotional and stressful. Emilia Finn is such a talented author. Ready for the next in the series. On to book 3.

Another Hit. Loved this book and Nixon was just amazing with such a big heart. Max was adorable and I'm hoping we get a Couple little snippets on his progress in the other Rosa brothers books. This would of been a 5 star for me if not for Idalia. I found it really difficult to like her at points and I understood why she was the way she was but she was very annoying. The second she insulted everyones job was a big NO from me, especially Kane Bishop. No one insults kane bishop lol !! Doesn't take away from the fact it was Nixons story so I would of liked it regardless but she was just a very unlikeable character for me.

When the heck do we find out who Yankees cap is? 🤔🤣

Catching Fire

Nixon Rosa the youngest brother in the Rosa crew is a firefighter. And a very good one at that. He wears his heart on his sleeve, very easy on the eyes and loaded with tattoos. Not one to play the field but has no issues getting the ladies. That is until he meets Mrs Italy. Idalia is an Italian born woman who is very emotional. She can be extremely cold and very calculating. She lost her husband in a fire that also claimed the life of a firefighter. So she is not to keen to start dating one. The job is just way too dangerous in her opinion. That is until fate makes its way around. This book is guaranteed to leave you with some tears.

Love Nixon

I’m giving this a 4 because I moved Nixon. His attitude, calmness and ability to stay level headed, even when Idalia was being an a**hole is was a balm to my irritation to Idalia. Of all the female characters I have read in Emilia’s books (I started with Kane and Jessica) she is my least favorite so far. I love Emilia’s books so I’m going to bet that was her intent. To make her character come off as abrasive and bit*hy . I still loved the story and everyone else but I found my self more than once exhaling in frustration at Idalia.

Anyhow, I do recommend the book, I can’t wait until the next one. I’m waiting patiently (lies) for Troy.

I couldn’t really feel the chemistry that was supposed to be happening between the MCs. Usually Finn’s books overtly describe the chemistry so that I can see right away why they’re so into each other but not in this one.

Also like the first book in this series I don’t understand all the additional (and somewhat unnecessary) storylines that go nowhere: Lockwood, NY Yankees guy, Cootes and Ruiz…it felt like added fluff that detracted from the story. The fact that the happy ending occurred in the last pages of the epilogue instead of the actual book was more than disappointing. It felt like a cop out and added unnecessary angst.

Spoilers ahead

I am really torn on this book. I love everything Emilia writes but I feel like the ending on this one was a bit contrived. This was a 5+ star rating for me until the end. While reading, I thought that Nix was most likely going to be in a life and death situation but to make it be due to another fire associated with Idalia... that was just a little too much for me. And then to have another firefighter death for Idalia to have on her conscience... Ugg. And then to have the quick mention of who the boyfriend was of said firefighter. That all just broke my heart.

That was a little intense at the end. So much so I started to think about previous books, trying to remember if Nix was mentioned in the one series. I figured that the climax would be something with the hotel but was hoping it would not go down like it did. So hard to build up something like that and pour yourself into it, only to see it destroyed. The connection between the characters was great, they all meshed really well together. Arlo is a great addition, she adds wonderful color and entertainment.

She did it again!!

Whoa whoa whoa! From the introduction tears were streaming down my face! I love how Emilia Finn gives me all of the feeling while reading her books! Chasing Fire was no different! A beautifully written love story with a dash of humor and a heart breaking amount of tears! Nixon and Max their relationship is beyond words! How all Max needed to break his steadfast and trauma induced mutism! Again all the feels Emilia!!! Thank you so much for writing this masterpiece !

Major swooning and laughing out loud

I have a major crush on the Rosa brothers, and Nixon only intensified that crush! You wouldn’t think you could have so many laugh out loud moments when faced with this trauma, but Idalia and Nixon were so great together. I absolutely loved their heated arguments and spirited exchanges. True to the values I’ve come to love with all of Emilia’s books, family is the core and heart that remains constant and overwhelmingly seductive as you find your way to the end of book two of the series.

Nixon, who knew?

Emilia Finn has a way of writing these macho alpha men who are big ole marshmallows. Nixon though, I was not expecting him! I knew he would be great and I would love him, but I didn't know how deeply I would adore him. Idalia was a bit extra for me at times, but I did come to really appreciate her character.
I won't even get into the tears I shed throughout this book, but it had me in all my feels.

Whew, the emotions with this book. Idalia still recovering from the trauma that happened and having Nixon barrel in, it was just what she needed. I loved that they loved each other so much. Nixon was the perfect person to help her through her emotions and help her feel comfortable with everything that has happened and could happen. Such a beautifully written and wonderful story. Absolutely wonderful!!

Awesome read!

This new book has made its way to my top favorite list of Emilia's! She knows how to craft such a quality story that pulls at every emotion you have. Nixon and Idalia are so good together. Their chemistry and rapport are both heartwarming and hilarious throughout the book. You've done it again, Emilia Finn! Each one gets even more amazing. If you haven't read Emilia Finn yet. STOP. Go back to her Rolling On Series and welcome to her amazing world! ♡

Another hit!

Great book - I was chomping at the bit all the way to the end! The end was by far the most action packed and plot-packed of the entire book - loved Nixon and Max and Idalia. Only bummer, I felt like the love story wasn’t built up enough. It was kind of just there - which was fine, but it would be better so see the slow love start to build. Highly recommend! Will never NOT like anything Emilia Finn writes

Fantastic!

This author has a way of writing that captures and holds my attention from start to end. Finishing a book is always bittersweet because I’m sad to see it end but know we’ll see these characters in another book sometime soon. Her books are so difficult to put down that I find myself lamenting having to do life. I’d rather just stay immersed in her stories. Always five stars for this author.

Wow! Just....wow!

What an awesome read. Got to admit I was not really looking toward the Rosa's with any real excitement. But as is the usual for Emilia Finn I find myself absorbed into a whole new world of love, and I absolutely cannot get enough. She writes with so much emotion you feel every chuckle, every fear, every ounce of love. And of course she throws in the drama and tears just to make sure you're paying attention. Well done Emilia, well done!

Oh Nixon, such a charmer. Such a flirty and sexy read with some heart. Some tears. It was almost a 5 star read but several things didn’t come to fruition. The epilogue felt rushed and it came to what i feel is an abrupt ending. We didn’t even get a glimpse of a MAJOR outcome from a HUGE event that takes place. The oddness and suspicion surrounding Mr. Lockwood, Idalia’s hotel manager….? The whole story felt unfinished. 4*are we missing a few chapters?*stars
