As far as textbooks go, I actually really enjoyed the topics in this one. I started a Marriage & Families course three months into my own marriage. The timing couldn't have been better. Exploring statistics, marital topics, and family dynamics as a newlywed created a ton of conversation between my spouse and I, and a lot of insight into what research has found consistently throughout happy, healthy marriages. The discussion on nuclear families was particularly interesting, given that throughout my entire psychology education, I'd never heard the term. Spoiler alert! It's not about a toxic family dynamic, but it is great knowledge if you have a toxic family dynamic or you're looking to avoid having one.
