From the USA Today bestselling author of Christmas at the Cottage comes a heartwarming holiday story about rediscovering the spirit of the season. For Cora Conway, Christmas is always the best time of year. A homebody by nature, she loves nothing more than tinkering in her holiday shop and curling up with a movie and hot chocolate on a snowy evening. 3.5 stars! This small town Christmas with all the traditions , townfolks and love! Phil and his daughter Georgie discovered the joy of christmas, their attachment to Blue Harbor and the reason his grandparents cherished the town! They also discovered Cora, her cheerful enthsiasm for anything christmas andtheir love for each other! A very sweet book that was a little slow at times, too angsty and sometimes too many assorted characters! It was like a hallmark movie and very enjoyable!
Enjoyed this book that center around Cora and her Christmas family traditions and Phil Keaton and his daughter Georgie. He goes into Cora's Christmas shop on Thanksgiving Day when he sees her in her shop. He is the grandson of the people she rents from and wants to tell her that he is fixing up the properties to sell and of course, he doesn't. See what happens during their journey . A GOOD READ.
Genre: Holiday Romance Where: Blue Harbor, MI When: current
THOUGHTS/REFLECTIONS: The blurb about the author says Olivia Mills specializes in “feel-good women’s fiction with a romantic twist” and this one added the curve of the Christmas season. That’s not typically a draw for me, and there were times where I felt like the author spread the “magic of Christmas” a bit thick…but I saw it through.
Our heroine, Cora is trying desperately to hold onto her past and all of its traditions; while protagonist Phil wants to bury the few happy memories he has of his. The come together, and, well… the magic of Christmas! If you enjoy a holiday themed romance, this one’s worth a few days of your time.
My favorite quote:
"It was easier to think of it all as a fantasy, rather than a possibility."
This is a delightful and heartwarming Christmas story. It looks at the comfort people take in their traditions, while also being open to change and building new traditions. Cora, who firmly believes in the magic of Christmas, finds some of those changes a bit easier to accept when she meets Phil and his daughter, Georgie. Can her love of everything Christmas help change his indifference to the holiday season? This is Olivia Mike’s’ fourth book in the Blue Harbor series, as I’ve watched each of the Conway sisters find their HEA. With various cousins and friends in this special small town, I’m hoping there will be more visits. This is a great book for getting into the spirit of Christmas!
This is a sweet story of Christmas traditions and finding love. The characters are people the reader cares about, and each of the four sisters has had a story . I still find it problematic that one falls in love at first glace, but I guess it is romantic. It is hard also to believe Phil could so easily eliminate those he should care about from his life, I see this as a plot advancement device. A nine year old who still believes in Santa is also a stretch. Really, establishing fun holiday traditions and decorating would have helped Phil connect with his daughter. That all said, it was a fun read.
Christmas is always the best time of year, for Cora Conway, who owns a year round Christmas shop. When a handsome stranger visits Blue Harbor with his daughter, Cora starts to believe his might be the most magical Christmas yet. However, Phil Keaton’s plan for this Christmas season is simple: settle his grandparents’ estate in Blue Harbor. Which includes selling the building where Cora’s Christmas shop and apartment is located. 🏬
Painfully predictable. Even for a Hallmark style Christmas romcom. So that’s saying something. A cute Christmas setting with lots of Christmas events but boring. 😣
The Blue Harbor series is thoroughly enjoyable in this time of so much unhappiness. The books are ‘easy reads’ with likable characters and feel-good (if formulaic) stories. “Small Town Christmas” is the best of the four so far. Cora is a really sweet character in whom it is really easy to invest your emotions. Just try reading this book and not feel better - won’t happen!
What a charming Christmas story from the first page to the end. Loved this Blue Harbor series. This book brought so many wonderful thoughts of great traditions and of course what is better than love at Christmas
This book brings back all the good memories you have yourself with each chapter ❤. The good times and the bad. How we all must take that road to different traditions and different times . I very much enjoyed this holiday story!
I really enjoyed this story. I liked these characters/family and the plot of this book. Happy that a few got their HEA including Phil's grandparents. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
