This was the last time, she vowed. Never again would she settle his debts or give him an alibi… she had said the same thing the last time, and the time before that.
When Katherine was summoned to help her charlatan father with his latest business deal, she convinced herself to go to her old man’s rescue. She was, after all, studying to become a lawyer and assisting him with the terms of a contract should’ve been a walk in the park.
What she hadn’t expected however, was that a deal had already been struck: her freedom had been sacrificed for her father’s. Determined not to act the victim or let her poker face slip, she finds herself negotiating terms with the devil himself.
One thing she is absolutely certain of; she won’t let her heart become part of the negotiations. Even if there is something about the dark and dangerous Lucian Nightingale that calls to her.
Lord Lucian Nightingale was preparing to leave the Darkhills to seek new distractions from the void of his long, immortal existence. Deciding to tie up loose ends, he agrees to an unconventional proposition from a man who owes him a large debt.
He never expected to fall for the woman who strode into his mansion like she owned the place. Drawn in by her intelligence, stubbornness and false confidence, Lucian finds himself compelled to know her better and quickly becomes determined to win Katherine’s trust and heart.
If he can do that, perhaps he can prove that he is not the beast that he first appears to be, and she might hold the key to banishing the loneliness that haunts him.
Another version of Beauty and the Beast, this one with vampires and werewolves and a dragon. Oh my. This version also has has so-so writing, some really yucky purple prose, and terrible editing. An obvious editing bomb that really should have caught dropped when a character demands "£5 million bucks" in blackmail money. Really? Another turn-off is the overuse of the word "smirk". He smirked, she smirked, everybody smirked. I really hate that
One of those novels that has very little conversation between the characters and a lot of explaining how they feel, and what they do in between... I love talking between characters myself with a little background to them. The plot sort of comes later with in the novel.. And then we are left hanging to what is going to happen. No wedding either, between Cayden & Rose! Maybe that is in another novel. This is not a cliff hanger but leaves you wanting answers to your questions.
Enjoyed the relationship between Lucien and Katherine. Her father was a nasty piece of work that got his comeuppance. A nice story of two damaged people who found love despite the barriers they each put up. Nice to see Rose and her grandmother again as well as Cayden!! You have a wonderful style, Mrs Greene!! Shall be moving on to book 3. I would definitely recommend this author!!
I was worried about Lucien, he was mentioned in the first book. He seemed so sad and alone. Katherine had been on her own for as long as she could remember. Making her way in college and cleaning up her father's messes. Her father was indebted to Lord Lucien Nightingale, he used his daughter Katherine for collateral. There is a HEA, you will have to read the book to see how all of that come about. 😉😉😉😉
What can I say? Lucien was what I expected. I liked him from the first book. Dark, mysterious and deadly. Katherine and Lucien are the perfect pair with their battle of wills and dominant nature. I loved these two and I can't wait to dive into book 3.
This was good. Kyle was a true monster. I was really confused at first at what race Katherine was, but I finally figured it. Lucian was cool til he wasn’t. I would read something else by this author.
this had so much potential but honestly was too rushed to really do it justice. the characters could have had more depth too. I enjoyed the FMC's interactions with the shifters more than the vampire who ends up her mate.
