Help, I'm Drowning: Weathering the Storms of Life with Grace and Hope

Rate this book
Life is filled with unexpected storms that take you by surprise.

In these storms of life, it's easy to feel helpless, exhausted, afraid . . . and alone. We can feel like victims to circumstances out of our control.

Beloved author Sally Clarkson understands deeply. Through almost seven decades of life, she has found herself tossed about in overwhelming life storms through many different seasons.

In Help, I'm Drowning , Sally identifies the challenges that took her by surprise and then leads you to the wisdom she gathered from her experiences. Finding grace to walk through the darkness and hope to make it through will give you the comfort and encouragement you need in knowing you are not alone. Though there are no easy, formulaic answers that apply to every situation, Sally leads us to the One who is with us and will see us through.

Sally found the anchors that held her steady in the midst of every storm, and she wants to help you find your anchors too. She invites you into her own personal story of anchoring well, and then--with honesty, grit, and her trademark wisdom--she will help you heal and move forward with courage and strength.

If you are discouraged, feeling like you’ve tried to do all the right things but are still barely surviving-this is the book for you!

Will definitely be getting the hard copy of this, but you can listen for free on Hoopla!

Great chapters on marriage and raising children that greatly resonated with my current seasons of life.
So many great quotes, (I would have highlighted like crazy) but here is small sampling I had to write down as I listened.

📖 Comparison can amplify exhaustion and depression.
📖Comparison is a losing game.
📖Many storms can be self-inflicted because we are not properly caring for our body, mind, soul, and spirit.
📖Integrity precedes influence.
📖Choose a legacy of hope.
📖Live through storms in such a way that they will become memories of the power of God.

Sally Clarkson once again does what she does best: encourages her readers by pointing them to the Truth that is the foundation for her whole life. Having just read Sarah Clarkson’s book about her OCD, I have a much deeper appreciation for the depths of some of Sally’s storms. It is easy to assume that Sally can point to scripture and smile because she hasn’t actually been through hardship. This book pulls back the veil a bit and reveals that she points to scripture and smiles because she HAS been through hardship and God and His Word have held firm. The last few chapters, in particular, are a lighthouse beacon for those searching for a place to land amid the raging sea, and her care kit at the end is a lovely reference. It’s worth reading, whether you’re in the midst of your own storms or not, as Sally speaks wisdom for anyone seeking to live faithfully through thick and thin.

"On the outside, I was keeping up a good face, handling all the pressures and circumstances with as much calm as possible for the sake of those who are looking to me for stability. Yet, a feeling of helplessness and despair lay just below the surface; I felt out of control, like a victim caught in a continuous onslaught of unexpected storms without even a second to catch my breath or get my sea legs. Is it the way of every woman to keep everyone else above water is she slowly sinks under the weight?"

I expected Sally was going to be writing directly to what I needed, but man is she! My soul is so hungry for advice from older women. I don't think words from me will encourage you to read this more than her own words do so here are some more:

"I wish I had understood then that, from the beginning of the world until the end, purposeful living will always exact a cost, that the work of life is often tedious and demanding, that there are battles to be fought in small and insignificant places where faithfulness is required. I know now I can find hope because God desires to companion me every single day and the weary times as well as when we celebrate. Through His Spirit, he has given us capacity to live into strength for the journey we will walk."

"Here's what I know: God gave me my personality with limitations and gifts, and He isn't biting His nails to see if I am going to be perfect at every task, or finish everything on time, even if my publisher or the neighbors are setting a high bar for what is expected of me. Knowing that He knows my limitations takes a little pressure off. ... Sometimes we just need to realize that we are tired because we are working very hard, and that's okay. Sometimes we need to realize we are tired because we were working too hard, and we're making everyone around us miserable, and that's not okay."

"We bring the storms of our lives down to size because we know with full assurance that righteousness and redemption of each precious moment prevails, because He will prevail. And we will celebrate one another's stories for eternity when we meet safely and securely one day with Him, in His glorious kingdom come."

"The choice to be courageous is beyond our feelings. Even when our emotions don't agree, we can practice as a way of life choosing to live in obedience to what is known about His character, which we believe by faith to be loving and good. These actions are truly supernatural, only possible as we walk in the power of His Holy Spirit. It happens as we say with all our heart, by faith and with the conviction of planting a flag of belief, 'He is good. He is faithful and true and He will save me, in His time. I believe all things will work together for good, and I will see it when I am with Him looking at it from His eye-view.' So today my friend, look for joy. Seek out beauty."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this book so much! The timing was perfect. I listened to the audio version (through Hoopla), and the narrator (I think that’s the proper term?) did a fantastic job. She was so easy to listen to. BUT I need a hard copy of this one, so I can underline ❤️ I especially appreciated all the encouraging Scripture and deep yet practical thoughts from a biblical perspective throughout this book.

Highly recommend this book to Christian wives/moms in particular as Sally speaks to that audience mostly. If you are in ministry of any form, you also will find many relatable moments. Thank you Sally Clarkson for writing “Help, I’m Drowning”! It was such a blessing and challenge to my heart and life.

Help, I'm Drowning is terrifically timed encouragement and truth! Reading through this book is like sitting down with a friend who empathetically listens and advises during a turbulent time. Some great quotes from the book: "And so, we exhibit strength instead of fear, so that someday those who watch us will be strong. We have to make the choice to believe in God and in His ability to provide for us, because we want those watching to believe in His eventual timely provision." It's a great reminder to me as a mom, but really applies to parents and non-parents alike as we all have others watching us. I also loved "Hope is not a feeling; it is a commitment to hold fast to what Scripture reminds us is true about God." If you find yourself regularly thinking you feel like you are drowning in life's circumstances (as I have lately), or you could just use some encouragement, this book is well worth the read!

Help! I’m Drowning is another wonderful book from Sally Clarkson. She touches on many important topics, and she covers each one with wisdom and graciousness. I especially enjoyed the chapter on marriage, and the practical advice she gives to those going through a difficult season in their relationship or those who may be in a difficult marriage, period. I love her attitude of accepting your unique “puzzle” in life. This has helped me think through challenges in a productive and hopeful way, instead of either bemoaning my circumstances or believing/wishing I can change things that will likely not change. Sally shares helpful personal stories and writes honestly. Her words are filled with both truthfulness and hope. I am thankful for her faithfulness in her own life and her willingness to minister to others through her books!

I’ve owned the kindle version of this book for several years and I think the Lord knew I wasn’t supposed to read it until now. I literally voiced the words that “I feel like I’m drowning” to a friend—and then remembered I have the book with that very title! While Sally doesn’t have all the answers, she does point you to the right source in the storms of life—the Heavenly Father who calms the storms. I love how she combines practical and spiritual truths to help you fight well. This book isn’t full of trite cliches; it’s more like a seasoned warrior sharing their battle tactics and pointing to the source of their victories.

"Help, I'm Drowning" is a book that I wish I would have read in High School. It took me over two decades, lots of trials and tears, and complete isolation and dependancy on Christ to realize many of the gems that were presented in this book. It's packed with so many priceless, wonderful treasures!

always darkest before the dawn" are worthless. Have you ever been in that kind of darkness? I have... and it's really dark! It's isolating, hard, and it definitely doesn't feel like the dawn is right around the corner!! It's sometimes hard to remember that God still cares for you when you are in complete despair. This is why I love this book! The author comes to you like the sweetest of friends, just what you need during times like that ... just to sit with you in the dark. Just like Jesus. During your shortest of days, and the longest of nights you need a friend to keep you company right where you are (in the dark) with a small flicker of light! This book is just that ... light in the darkness. It provides encouragement that will meet you right where you are in a way that is so relatable! As you read the words you will find yourself rising above depression and difficulty - despair and hopelessness and into the Gods promises and biblical truths. Right where faithfulness, hope, and grace is found.

This book definitely shows how Christians should combine salt and honey to encourage and provide a healing balm for hurting friends. It's definitely a book you'll want to keep on your book shelf (medicine cabinet) as a quick reminder of the Lord's goodness & faithfulness - when you're facing the storms of loneliness, difficult seasons, disappointments, relational hurts, fear, and brokenness of life. It's not a matter of if, but when .. and this book is packed with gems that will remind you that EVEN IF it's hard we can hold onto the promises of God when we feel down and broken. This is why we need others to hold us up when we are unable. Someone to point us to the source of HOPE in our storms - to reflect on His Goodness and help us draw near to Him.

I highly recommend this book (especially for baby Christians), as it will help build a solid foundation of biblical truths that will help you manage the rough seas of life. Having these promises and truths written on your hearts will keep you anchored when the enemy wants to capsize your boat - and faith. When you're being tossed around during a storm, this is definitely a book you'll want on your bookshelf. When things get dark and hopeless, it will definitely lighten the darkest of times - and will help the reader reach safe harbor.

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mind, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. MATTHEW 7:24-25

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. if anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each persons work. if what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved - even though only as one escaping through the flames. 1 corinthians 3:11-15

I was blessed and challenged by reading this book. I found it to be very timely and relevant for current issues. Sally Clarkson wrote this to help process what is going on in the world around us during the recent years. As I read, I felt like she must have been reading my own mind!
This book takes a look at some of the hard times, storms, if you will, that we might face in our lives.
Ms. Clarkson relates events from her own life, and ties these in, to bring clarity.
She shows how God is faithful through each and every storm, and allows these to bring growth.
I especially liked this:
"Seasons of darkness, weariness, discouragement, and exhaustion will come, and we are companioned. Not only do we have countless others whose stories validate our own challenges, but Jesus himself is literally present with us at every moment. He will give us the grace we need to walk through our journey."
Sometimes, all we need to help process our own hard things in life is having our feelings and emotions validated. It is so easy to get caught up in my own things and think I am the only one who feels this way.
I was very blessed, and challenged through reading this book. I feel a renewed energy to look to God and serve Him.

First off let me say that I have read many of Sally and her husband, Clay's, books over the past 15 years. They were a light and an inspiration as I began my journey of homeschooling our children. I have been so blessed to have them as an influence in my life via books over the past 15 years.

This book is truly timely. After the past 18 months, I can say that I have been through a lot of storms. I know we all have. Sally shares her own struggles and challenges to help the reader know that they are not alone. I love that she's real. She doesn't put up false walls that only show the good. In this book, she shares Biblical truth to help us weather the storms that come in life. I was so thankful for the practical advice she offered as well as the prayers at the end of each chapter.

If you're struggling through some storms, I definitely recommend you pick up this book to read. I think you will find a lot of encouragement as you face whatever it is that you're going through.

Surprising that I had never read a book by Sally Clarkson. Now I am wondering why not! From the very start of the book, I have never read an author who writes with more calmness! I enjoyed just reading her writing. This is a book that I believe anyone who picks it up can benefit from. I felt so encouraged and really taken back to remembrance of how I do not have to live in fear or defeated because my God is always with me! One of my favorite quotes from her book is “I want to be steadfast that others might understand how to remain faithful through their storms. We need others to model this for us that we might know how.” What a mindset and reminder that my walk does not affect just me. If you feel discouraged, pick up Sally’s book! I am glad I did!

Help, I’m Drowning Weathering the Storms of Life with Grace and Hope by Sally Clarkson is a treasure! Sometimes you come across a book that is so special, and so endearing, you just can’t put it down. I read late into the night the day it arrived savoring every moment. A really “great” book changes you and Help, I’m Drowning did that for me and it’s was a comfort too. Reading was like sitting in a comfy chair drinking tea with an old friend. The conversation being, one of gently spoken, heartfelt words that in the end were transformative. Hope and healing are the rewards of reading this book. Another must-read in a long line of books from Sally!

This book was an absolute breath of fresh air! While I had heard of Sally Clarkson for years, I had never read one of her books; now I can’t wait to get my hands on some more of her writings.

This book isn’t sugar-coated; it’s raw, it’s honest, but it’s hopeful. Sally is open about her own struggles and lessons she’s learned in a “You are not alone” type way that’s encouraging. The book isn’t full of self-help or nice platitudes; it is full of reminders of our dependence on God, how we are reliant on His help, how we can trust Him in the storms.

A couple chapters are specifically geared towards wives and mothers, but the rest of the chapters are for women in all seasons and walks of life. Each chapter packed a powerful punch and left me examining my own life and heart in light of the Truth. I know it’s a book I will be returning to again!

This is probably my favorite Sally Clarkson book so far. A lot of her others have very similar content, a bit of overlap, and sometimes seemingly unattainable ideals . I really do love Sally and her books, but this is the first one I connected with on a deeper level. I felt like I finally got a glimpse into the hard areas of her life and they weren’t glossed over.

Sometimes life is just hard. There’s no other way to put it. So many expectations, challenges, things out of our control, unwanted changes, the list goes on and on. While we live in a broken world, God never intended us to life our lives alone, trying to figure it all out by ourselves. In this book, Sally Clarkson offers so much encouragement, hope, truth, beauty and goodness by reminding us to look to God. If you feel overwhelmed by this life, I highly encourage you to read this book!

I recently had the privilege of reading and reviewing Help I’m Drowning, by Sally Clarkson. It was exactly the book I needed at this point in time and one I’m sure I will read again. I’d bet I’m not the only one who would find this book inspirational and helpful.

Sally Clarkson seems to have the uncanny ability to understand precisely what so many of us are going through, and how to not only relate to the reader with clarity and candor, but also offer encouragement and an accessible path forward.

She grounds her wisdom and insight in Scriptural truths, and relates to her readers from her own life experiences, sharing antidotes from her history and stories of friends and family members. Each section offers a related prayer, scripture verse, and action item, and the book concludes with some practical, succinct reminders she made throughout.

The conclusion was a call to arms of sorts, and a worthy rally cry to believers to stay the course and set a much-needed legacy for their children and others in their sphere. This novel is one I will read again and again, and I’m grateful to Sally for sharing her story, the hard-earned Biblical truths she’s learned along the way, and her heart in an honest, open way.

This timely book, which Sally Clarkson wrote during COVID-19 lockdown, is full of understanding and encouragement for women who feel overwhelmed with life's suffering. Clarkson shares illustrations from her own life, ranging over multiple decades, and even though she often references the pandemic as a current touchstone, the book addresses so many different issues and universal struggles that the current references will convey a sense of history in the future instead of giving the book a short shelf-life. Clarkson writes about the core experiences that people deal with in suffering, regardless of their specific problems, and she also addresses specific difficulties, including loneliness, marital struggles, and overwork. This book addresses a variety of struggles with great sensitivity and wisdom, and I found it very encouraging.

Clarkson writes about ways that women struggle to feel connected to God in the midst of their suffering, and she provides solace and clarity without offering platitudes or easy answers. She also writes about the challenges of unmet expectations, sharing about times when reality has caught her off guard and required her to reconsider her assumptions. Also, even though Clarkson primarily writes to married women with children, I found the book encouraging as a single. Her chapter about parenting struggles was actually my favorite, because she shares touching reflections about the challenges of parenting kids with mental health struggles. I dealt with many of the same issues during my teenage years, and her loving, honest words about her family's struggles were very meaningful to me.

Clarkson does not overshare or invade other people's privacy, but she writes in a forthright way about challenges that disrupted her rosy expectations for life. It is very rare for Christian books about parenting to acknowledge the reality and impacts of mental illness in a family's life, and I found her writing very encouraging. Other people will no doubt connect with other elements of the book, and the chapter about dealing with irrational, gaslighting, and abusive people also stands out as one that is particularly unique and helpful. All throughout this book, Clarkson writes about her struggles with candor and grace, and she serves as a seasoned mentor to women who are struggling. Best of all, her life itself is an encouraging testimony to her readers, since she has stayed steadfast through many storms and can point her readers to the God who guided her through every one.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Sally Clarkson has become one of my favorite authors ever since I discovered her Lifegiving Home books. She really has a gift for relating to mothers of all ages, and I believe it's because of her courage to be vulnerable with her readers while at the same time sharing from a standpoint of wisdom and life experience. Her newest book, Help, I'm Drowning, continues her legacy of practical and encouraging wisdom shared in the intimate, kindred spirit-kind-of-way that characterizes this beloved author. When I first saw the title of this book, Help, I'm Drowning, I thought "I need that book! That's how I feel sometimes!" As I read the book, it was exactly what I needed.

One of Sally's key points that really hit home with me is that life is going to have storms and the sooner we come to the place of accepting this reality, the less blindsided and more prepared we will be when the inevitable "weather" of life comes our way. Using many examples from her own life story, Sally covers a variety of potential "storms" life brings in the areas of marriage, family, parenting, difficult people and relationships, as well as health, personal limitations, and disappointments.

Another key idea that spoke to me is that accepting and submitting to our own limitations and those of our husband, children, friends, and extended family help us to treat one another, including ourselves, with grace, forgiveness, and gentleness. Establishing healthy boundaries is an important part of accepting the reality of limitations. Knowing our limits and personality guides us toward the priorities we must choose so we don't bury our talent but instead "seize the day" and pursue our purpose. One quote that stood out to me regarding this theme is "I became a steward of my own story."

Sally encourages women to "strain toward maturity," learn to endure with faithfulness, and leave a legacy. Her book is packed with inspiration, stories, and honest unsugared advice borne of experience. In addition to all this treasure, the book concludes with a "Storm Care Kit," a go-to collection of spiritual and emotional helps to ground you during a storm.

As a Christian woman, I feel that Sally Clarkson serves as a spiritual mentor for women of all ages. This book is like a collection of many heart-to-heart conversations. I am inspired to apply Sally's words of wisdom as I grow through life's storms and strive to fulfill God's purpose.

“Reaping a harvest of character comes from planting seeds of integrity over a lifetime. What you sow you will reap. The amazing result is that you will have fruit for your labor and be satisfied and gratified to see how God has worked with you as you walk in obedience.”

I love Sally Clarkson’s practical tips for godly living and dependence on the Lord.

As a wife, mom, a woman...have you ever been shocked at the troubles and challenges life has left on your doorstep? (I remember clearly thinking, "I did NOT order these!") If we start out with rose-colored glasses, like I did, the storms of life can catch us unprepared and lonely, creating in us hopelessness and a long sorrow. And on the flip side, even when we are prepared for life's difficulties we can feel those same things.

In her new book, Sally Clarkson points out many of the ways life's storms can catch us off guard. She then offers some of her own experiences and feelings, and reminds us of the many in the Bible who suffered, as well as the God who loves us and who truly is standing with us and holding our hands. She includes Scriptures which underline those truths; and she points out the trials and struggles which can sometimes come from unexpected places, like the church (which we expected to stand with us and support us).

Although this book reveals many truths on suffering, it's not a heavy read. Instead, Clarkson agrees with us that hard things can and do happen. But she shows us, over and over, that we are not suffering alone, and that the suffering we feel now truly can bring dividends of wisdom and grace over our lives, and for our children to see and learn from.

I was so incredibly strengthened and blessed by reading this book. While reading, I was able to look back on past difficult seasons with new lenses, acknowledging truths I didn't feel at the moment. I was comforted to read that others have struggled just as I have...and have come out on the other side, stronger and with deeper love to share. And above all, I was reminded that I really am never alone. God is ALWAYS with me; loving me, supporting me, walking alongside me to get me through the hard times. (As well as the good times, of course!)

This is a rich and beautiful book for women. It gave me wisdom and truths that I sorely needed, but wasn't really finding in the other places I looked. I recommend it to you, regardless of the mom/wife/single/woman season you are in. I believe it will bless you!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

[Note: This book was provided free of charge by Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]

A book like this one is a hard one to fully appreciate and approve of. To be sure, there is a great deal in this book that is useful and encouraging, but at the same time the author is trying to position herself as an authority in dealing with matters of grace and hope as well as seeking to enlist the sympathies of the reader in any host of personal disputes she has had over the course of her life. To automatically assume that other people one is having with are Pharisees and hypocrites is not a just perspective to have, and the author's lack of justice in dealing with such interpersonal problems undercuts her ability to serve as an expert in the subjects she writes about. Where she focuses on scripture she does better, but like all too many writers, she tries to make herself an expert personally rather than seeking to be an expert interpreter of scripture, and those readers who lack a faith in the author's own personal expertise may very well find this book to be far less convincing than the author wishes to be the case.

This book is about 250 pages long or so and it begins with a foreword, a letter to the storm-tossed, whom the author assumes she is writing to as fellow women, and an introduction. After that come chapters that remind us that all people feel dark sometimes (1), that it's okay to feel sad (2), that we need to find hope when we feel all alone (3), and that life is hard for those with high expectations (4). This is followed by chapters that discuss the problems of exhaustion (5), fear (6), disappointment in marriage (7), challenges with children (8), and storms caused by critical and difficult people like the author (9). The book then ends with a call to be gentle to oneself (10), to anticipate the gains in character from a lifetime of dealing with problems (11), and leaving a legacy (12), as well as a storm care kit, endnotes, and information about the author.

Help, I'm Drowning by Sally Clarkson is a VERY timely book for myself and so many. Help, I'm Drowning is about the Storms of Life and how to overcome them. We all go through many "Storms" throughout our life, the past 18 months or so, has been a major Storm for so many.

I, myself, find that I like to "carry the burden" of Storms when they are ravaging my life. Sally Clarkson has written "Help, I'm Drowning" to address the ways women can reach out for help and wisdom and not feel so alone in the Storms. Sally has felt the "drowning" feeling in many storms of her life. The book is filled with her experiences throughout her 7 decades of life and how she managed to get ride out the storms. Sally says Grace and Hope are the 2 key factors in beating the storms of life. Grace will help you walk through the really low points of the storm. Hope brings encouragement in knowing others are there with you and not alone. All this is possible when we seek God through our storms and allow him to "carry the burden".

I truly enjoyed reading this book, especially as I am going through some "Health Issue Storms" and I so want to just be quiet and figure it all out on my own. I decided my Health is too important for that and God gave me comfort. I was also able to gain the strength to share with Family and Friends. I know I am not alone in this current "storm" of life, with God and Family and Friends with me. Sally Clarkson has written another AMAZING book! I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who feels they need to Carry Burdens of Life. Let Go and Let God carry you through the Storms of Life!

Help, I’m Drowning feels like you are in a coffee shop with Sally Clarkson. She is candid and vulnerable in this book, offering encouragement to women. When you finish reading, you’ll leave feeling less alone in your struggles. Every book Sally Clarkson writes is a gift. I adored the anchoring prayers and verses at the end of each chapter!

We live in a broken and hurting world, and just because we are Christians doesn’t mean we are immune from the pain life brings. Sally Clarkson offers readers practical advice for handling the storms of life in Help, I’m Drowning!

With a conversational tone, Clarkson shares hers and others’ experiences in several areas of life—including depression, loneliness, relationships, fear, and much more. Each section is anchored with Biblical reminders that storms of life are not new, that others have faced similar storms and walked through to the other side.

The truth is no one is immune from broken relationships, misunderstandings, disappointments, illness, exhaustion, and so many other trials that come from a fallen world. Don’t believe me? Just look at 2020 and 2021. While there was nothing new (no eye-opening, earth-shattering epiphanies), it is a timely reminder and encouragement that as Christians, we are not alone in our storms.

When we take steps to change our perspective and hearts, we count our storms as blessings. Because of those storms our faith is firmer and we gather wisdom to share with those who follow. Help, I’m Drowning will help readers face the storms of life with courage, grace, and trust.

This book made me feel not alone in what I feel/experience/think about as a woman, wife and mom. It normalized the hard parts of our lives, while constantly pointing back to Jesus (in a way that doesn’t belittle or gloss over the difficulties). I appreciated the anchoring prayer, anchoring scripture and anchoring act at the end of each chapter.

Much has transpired since I heard Sally Clarkson speak at a homeschool convention years ago. Since then, I’ve loved reading many of her books. Pouring out her heart, as is her trademark, author Sally Clarkson truly speaks to the feelings we all have felt during the pandemic. She describes how it has affected her and her family. Readers will feel that she is having a conversation with them, because she is so honest and relatable.

Discovering that life is really hard, Sally speaks about how God values relationships, just as she does. Raising children, being married, and relationships in the church and work, bring trials that God can use to help others. I especially loved her discussion about marriage and how following God is the key to her motivation.

The message of hope is woven throughout the book and it speaks to the reader with truth and humility. Sally bears her soul to the reader. I love how she shares how her life has been, not just speaking Christianese and saying what people might want to hear. She offers hope for every situation through the grace of God.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I was beginning to feel alone among the “motherhood is beautiful” tropes. It’s been a difficult year emotionally, and many days I want to give up. Sally gives us an honest look at some of her darkest moments in those moments I found the hope that I can be deeply flawed and tired and still raise beautiful children.
