I've lived six lives in one and it all shows up in the books I write, one way or another.

I was always a risk taker and broke mustangs at thirteen years old in Oregon. I learn to break them with love, not threat or pain.

At 17 years old, I picked night-crawlers (worms) out in our Oregon orchards from 9pm to midnight, every night. I earned enough money to buy my school clothes and book. I also plunked down $600 to a flight company at the Medford, Oregon airport and asked them to teach me...a girl...to fly. I soloed in 12 hours, which is average. From that time until I left for the US Navy at 18, I had accrued 39 hours of flight time in my Cessna 150 single engine airplane.

I was in the US military and was an AG3 (weather forecaster). There was no airplane club, so I couldn't fly when I was in the Navy. But I could look at the clouds in the sky ;-).

Later, I flew in a B-52 bomber for a day and night mission (18 hours total), a T-38 Talon jet, USAF, where I was riding in a "chase plane" on a test flight in a Dragonfly jet.

I was one of the first AFLA (American Fencing League of America) women fencers to fence with epee and sabre. These weapons were closed to women because they were too 'heavy' for a female to handle. I said baloney and fought the males and won half my bouts. I was part of a surge of women fencers on the East Coast in the 1970's to push for equality in the sport. Together, we changed the sport and changed the mind of the men. Today? In the Olympics? Women now fence in foil, epee and sabre, thanks to what we did as a vanguard showing the world it could be done.

I then became a volunteer firefighter when I was a civilian once more, the first woman in an all - male fire department in West Point, Ohio for three years. I became a local expert not only in firefighting, driving the engine and tanker trunks, but also had training in hazardous material (Reynoldsburg Fire Academy, Columbus, OH).

My books always reflect what I experienced. If you like edgy, gritty, deeply and emotionally intense love stories with sympathetic heroes and heroines, check out my newest series that will be available mid-Oct. 2015, and it incorporates much of what I have lived.

Even though this book was written a while back, sexual harassment is still an issue in the military- and in many jobs.

Well i managed to finish this which is probably one of the nicest things i will have to say about this book.
Heroine: she was so meek and twitchy i just couldnt click with her. you spend the whole book having it foreshadowed that something tragic happened to her to ruin her faith in all soldiers and all men (though she still dated them after this event?). Then you find out what the secret is....and while it's nothing to make light of it also doesnt really do much to explain the way she acts towards the hero who is never anything but nice to her. if she isnt cowering like a kicked puppy shes acting rather shrewish and neither category appealed to me.
Hero: he was very sweet and dedicated to the heroine. he was very genuine and i liked that he was able to admit to and learn from his past faults. a likable character though i couldn't say that i loved him just because overall he didn't have anything that made him terribly interesting.
Romance: finally one that wasn't insta love! And I'm pretty sure that's the last truly nice thing i have to say about this book. the relationship built slowly though a bit too slowly for my taste almost to the point of boring.
Sex scenes: ok i know that this is a romance and not an erotica but when i cant tell when foreplay becomes sex you should probably give a little more detail.
Plot: well in an interesting turn of events it wasnt the traditional everything works out perfectly everyone rides off into the sunset ending...but that was really unsatisfying in this case. i felt like after the initial scene the plot moved incredibly slowly with no real action going on to liven it up. The ending was also very unsatisfying it left loose ends that could have been dealt with in just a few pages of epilogue but nope she just leaves us hanging.
Writing:well by far the worst part of this books. and really an example of why you should reread your work...and have several others read and edit it too. Now this isn't some self published indie novel. This book originally came out in 93. So in 11 years no one thought to run spell check on it? Because i found so many misspellings in this its insane. then there were the things that made no sense. Like when the hero talks about the cowardly lion from the wizard of oz getting a heart...now its been awhile but wasnt that the tin man? The COWARDLY lion got courage didnt he? Then there was all the military lingo...i mean its expected since this is a military themed romance but 1/2 wasnt explained at all and 1/2 was explained to the reader as if we were 3 years old. The narrative was all tell and no show which contributed to my boredom. Overall just not a terribly well written piece...even if we take into account the time period in which it was written.
Bottom line: not great...and not something id recommend
