Miriam Minger is the bestselling author of sweet to sensual historical romances that sweep you from Viking times to Regency England to the American West. Miriam is also the author of contemporary romance, romantic suspense, inspirational romance, and children's books. She is the winner of several Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Awards--including Best Medieval Historical Romance of the Year for The Pagan's Prize--and a two-time RITA Award Finalist for The Brigand Bride and Captive Rose.

Miriam Minger says: It's been a wonderful experience to have all my novels published as eBooks, but the greatest thrill for me as a writer is when readers take the time to let me know they enjoyed my stories...

"I have read hundreds if not thousands of books in my lifetime and not once have I ever been moved to comment on one until now. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. I laughed. I cried. I remained at the edge of my seat devouring every single word you wove with this incredible story. I just wanted to let you know how deeply this story moved me and to thank you for creating it."

Wow. This one left me speechless, and thankful. I had done my job, which is to make you feel like you've dropped feet first into a world that captures your imagination and emotions so vividly you might be living and breathing the story. And that's one of the purest joys of reading, isn't it? I know it is for me, and it is my hope to continue to write books that make you live and breathe the adventure, laugh and cry, and that touch your heart.

Another reread… short, insta-love historical romance with a deranged wannabe OW, an evil cousin, and free to read with KU. There’s plenty of action, but no serious feels. My only real complaint is that it takes a bit to get going… 150 pages isn’t a lot of page time, and it takes 22% for them even to meet. There’s also some filler from the previous mc’s. * I recently got hung-up on locating a couple scenes – Note- This is the one with the OW carriage scene and The Convenient Bride contains the OW play rehearsal scene.

***Original Review***
This is the only book I've read from the series. I could “feel” that I’d missed some connections and background, but it wasn’t too difficult to catch up. I believe that Walker and the previous H’s met when they were captured and forced to work on a ship. They must have been rescued or escaped the last book and realized that Walker was a dead ringer for Andrew the recently deceased heir of Summerlin. At some point they discovered that Walker was actually Alexander (Andrew's twin) who was kidnapped by his nanny and taken to America when he was two.

The book opens with the current Duke of Summerlin gravely ill, and Walker stepping in to assume the title. The first order of business is to secure a wife. Most think he will select the beautiful (but evil) Belinda Cavendish who was engaged to Andrew before his untimely death, but things get interesting when he meets Marguerite a lowly vicar’s daughter and sparks fly. Unfortunately, their rode to HEA is a bumpy one with disapproving family members, a batshit wannabe OW, and someone trying to kill them.

Bottom Line- Quick, easy historical romance with insta-love. (No jerks or unrequited feelings here) The couple have zero relationship problems, all the drama stems from warding off the haters. (us against them dynamic)

I just loved the insta-love that was happening in this short regency historical romance. The hero and heroine met for the first time 3 years ago when the H saved her and her little sisters. She was only 16 years old then and all he did was hold her hand but they were immediately drawn to each other. They meet 3 years later and the heroine feels she won't be worthy of him because he is the newly discovered lost heir to a dukedom and she is just a parson's daughter. However he has been thinking of her and fell for again when they meet at Almacks.

Of course, there is the SUPER EVIL WANNABE OW called Belinda who had been engaged to the H's dead brother and now she wants him because she will do anything to be a duchess. Anything ! Even murder. There's also the H's jealous evil cousin who wants the hero to be murdered because he wants to be the duke. Damn, these two characters spent a lot of time plotting murder.
The H and the h elope to Gretna Green and the villainous cousin tells Belinda who gets mad and jealous. Belinda tells the evil cousin to arrange for the H and h to be killed so that he ( the evil cousin ) could inherit the dukedom and then marry her. This evil bitch will marry an ugly dog as long as he's a duke. The killers are killed by the H who is then determined to seek vengeance against the evil cousin. After the cousin dies, Belinda ends manipulating the heroine into her carriage and then tries to kill her by throwing her out. This was so funny because prissy little Ton bitches like Belinda are no match for a strong country girl like the heroine. Belinda ends up getting her own ass kicked out of the speeding carriage and she dies. That was the most awesome part. The evil witch dies and her poverty stricken family ( that had needed her to marry a rich titled guy ASAP ), probably end up going to the poor house or to Newgate because they have no other daughter to sell in marriage.
I loved the ending. It was sweet. I probably rated this a little too high but that's probably because I just loved the fact that the 2 evil villains got what they deserved !

This was a fun book by an author who I had never read before. It's a sweet story of reunited lovers, but I have to say that a week after reading it I remember almost nothing about the story.

Delightful

Although short for my taste, this story still portrayed a beautiful romance between two unlikely couples and the adventure around them. Great read.

Sometimes a meeting from the past can come back in an unexpected moment and pull you back into that person's new world. Such was the case with Marguerite Easton and Walker Burke. Three years ago, Walter had helped her brother in law rescue her and her sisters from harm. Of course Marguerite had not forgotten him and when they meet again at a dance, the two are drawn strongly to the other.
But Walter has recently found out the truth of his parentage and it was astounding! Him, the son of a Duke? So he is really making his first appearance into the Ton when he meets her again. Luckily she had changed from the self absorbed girl and grown into a beautiful woman. What to do? His father demands he marry a noblewoman, but she was a parson's daughter! Can they be together?
The author packed in all the ingredients to make this a great story. A little suspense, grasping adversaries and of course the most important, love. Characters from the previous two books appear and only add to the story. I really have enjoy the two books I have read by this author and look forward to reading more!

The book was not bad but a bit shot on the character development and could have used a bit more meat to the story. It was fun and fairly romantic but I enjoy a bit more substance to my reading. If you want something that you can finish quickly this is the perfect book. If you want a bit more substance you might want to look into something else.

My Forbidden Duchess by Miriam Minger is the third book of her Man of my Dreams series. In this book, we are introduced to our two protagonists, Marguerite Easton and Walter Burke, through the literary device of backstory. We learn that a traumatic event, the abduction of the three Easton daughters, and their rescue resulted in a chance meeting between Marguerite and Walter that leaves a lasting impact on them.

This novel possesses many qualities of a Regency Romance that attract many fans of this genre. I was impressed with Ms. Minger’s two-prong plot arcs-romance arc and a suspense arc. Her plot line is fast paced through her masterful intertwining of these two complementary arcs. I enjoyed how she used themes of greed and jealousy to unite to antagonists in their quest for revenge. Will they be successful?

Ms. Minger’s use of literary devices such as dialog and descriptive language were well done. Her dialog was realistic and purposeful. Likewise, her use of descriptive language also helped to make this story realistic. I found myself immersed in the scene of the carriage ride to and from Gretna Green, a haven for young couples to escape to and marry without parental consent. It felt as though we were in the carriage with this young couple as they sped through the night to reach their destination. Will Marguerite and Walter make it? What dangers will they face? To find out you must read this riveting tale.

Love at first sight! Who knew that treacherous night when the Easton girls were kidnapped that a forever love had been spawned between vain little Marguerite Easton and the dashing American, Walker Burke?

What follows three years later in London is an adventure for the ages. Walker is not Walker, but instead the long lost heir to the duchy. Vain Marguerite has grown up and matured. The girl we thought would love London society hates it with a passion.

The antagonists are grasping, greedy people intent on spoiling the long awaited HEA of our protagonists. They cannot win. They will not win. However, they take us on a harrowing journey that ends in their mutual disappointment.

Along the journey, we basically find this story to be a satisfying epilogue for the two previous books. Corisande and Donovan remain deliriously happy. Jared and Lindsay are enjoying a wonderful life together as well. All is right with our girls and the men of their dreams!

I am so glad that I discovered Miriam Minger. She has enhanced my reading life this week and I look forward to delving into her other series very soon!

Love is the same no matter your social status

My Forbidden Duchess, outs a great read. This book depicted danger and true love rebelled of social status. Walker and Marquirette loved eachother from the beginning when they originally meet three years prior but didn't realize it until they meet again. When they did Walker was adamant that Marquirette was going to be hugs bride. There were so many obstacles too overcome but they were willing to face them together. That's what love and partnership is all about. This was a lovely simple straight to the heart love story with a little danger, spice, and happiness in it. It was wonderful. I recommend it.

Murder, Mayhem, and Love Conquers All:
A little recap of the previous book starts us off on a new adventure with Marguerite and Walker.
Never a dull moment in this very exciting drama. It is a short love story filled with passion with the heat jumping off the pages. There is terror, villains who got their just ending which made me smile.
This story had me glued for one reading session. I wish it was a bit longer and more in depth with the romance.
The ending was terrifying and wonderful and a joy to read.
Heat rating 2+ out of 5.

4.5 Stars! My Forbidden Duchess by Miriam Minger is another fabulously emotional and adventurous read!
The storyline is well written and kept exciting by plots of betrayal, envy, intrigue, danger, angst, and the pursuit of forbidden love between very interesting characters. The steamy and passionate love scenes are a deliciously swoon worthy four flamed Fire! I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good historical romance.

Rescued

Neither of them have been able to forget the other as the last few years have passed. Walker and his friend had rescued she and her sisters, saving their lives. Each has longed for a chance meeting, an opportunity to rekindle the warmth and attraction they shared. But there's a plot afoot and neither knows what stands in the way of their happiness. Well written and edited. A pleasant read.

So glad the recommendation of a friend led me to this series. Enjoyed all three books, the first and last being my favorites. Though the middle story was slower to grab my attention, I found it improved as I read on, and actually contributed so much to the series, and won me over by the end. Loved "My Forbidden Duchess", Walker and Marguerite's story.

The third in this series is another winner. Marguerite and Walker reunite and get an opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Walker may not be traveling the high seas anymore, but it does not mean that danger and adventure is no longer a part of his life. The story is fast paced and keeps you turning the pages. Excellent read!

A very good historical romance!

I really enjoyed this novel. It started well and quickly kept my interest. She is what I really like, smart, quick to react and get the job done. An American transported into the “ton” with all those challenges. A forever after love, what more could I ask for, thank you, Jack.

Nice read

This book was a shorter story which I prefer. I find I like books from about 150 pages to about 300 pages, give or take. There seems to be less monologue, which drag on, and more direct action and results. It had a nice happy ever after with the hero and heroine not bogged down with unnecessary misunderstandings and thoughts

It was a great book. It was a historical romance from the heart. It was from a series of the book I just read before this one. I bet this series would be wonderful too. I loved it and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I also knew of the other characters and their quality of characteristics which made it better.

There just had to be a third volume, even if we are straight out of feisty heroine, and at half the length of the others (but at full price), I felt a bit cheated, especially as there is little chance to develop a complicated plot or a characterisation....no, sorry this did not do it for me.

Short and Sweet

I couldn't figure out what the next plot could be? The first two books covered everything it seemed. The story is simple and fast paced, and the reader is not treated like an idiot. I hate when authors treats a reader so, but not here.

MY FORBIDDEN DUCHESS : is a very quick, good read. I’d have rated it higher if it wasn’t so short. A good story, a man who knows what/who he wants and awful, scheming villains. A lovely afternoon tale.

Great story, too much graffic sex

I would have enjoyed it so much more without the detailed sex scenes. I liked the story and the characters, I simply would have preferred it clean, without the need to skip pages.
