A short novel about Rani Sada Kaur, one of the most charismatic and courageous leaders to have emerged in Sikh History.
‘Warrior Queen: Rani Sada Kaur’, is a captivating read about the hidden role of a single mother who overcomes personal loss and hardship to raise an army, galvanise her peoples, and guide a young Ranjit Singh to become the famed ‘Lion of Panjab’.
As the world’s first English short novel about Rani Sada Kaur, the book will take the reader on a heart-wrenching journey of loss, friendship, love, betrayal and victory.
Beautifully written, with an equally beautiful message of female empowerment.
I'm always on the look out to broaden by my horizons and especially when it comes to the fairy tales and folk law of other cultures. I don't think I've ever read about based in Sikh history before, so i was excited to get started with this. The tale of Rani Sada Kaur, is equally heart breaking as it is inspiring and would find a perfect home with any reader who has a soft spot for a good heroine.
For a relatively short novel the pace is brilliant, language is incredibly accessible, this could be read (and I'd actively encourage should be read) with children of any age. The world building is almost lyrical, as a partial contemporary setting I didn't expect much from it, however I was pleasant surprised with just how immersive the story is.
Thoroughly enjoyable quick read for fan of own voices folklore.
A fantastic and an extremely well written book by Ranveer Singh. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The book allows you to visualise the story as though its happening right there. It's a very emotive and powerful read. Definitely worth the read for anybody that has not yet bought or read this book. I read it to my nieces as an example of bravery and positivity by women. They enjoy listening to the story in small chapters and describe Rani Sada Kaur - in there words- 'wow, she is very brave and strong'. I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future.
So excited to have received Ranveer Singh debut book here in the Scottish Highlands. An amazing telling of one of our many brave warrior queens. My eldest son Sukha is excited about taking this book into school, he is the only Sikh boy for about 100 miles so he is very excited to share the story with his peers. This is how we can make sure not only the wider community but our next generations stay connected to their roots. Ranveer Singh is commended for his efforts to bring into the mainstream historical giants like Sada Kaur. Looking forward to more works from this author and Khalis House Publishing.
A moving story of loyalty, hardship, love and loss - all the ingredients needed for a great novel. Ranveer Singh has done a tremendous job in writing this book, very descriptive and detailed. The plot and characters were so gripping, and the glossary of terms in the back is a great resource. I'm so glad I bought and read this book!
Currently reading this and got through 4 chapters in one reading. It’s very well written and so interesting to learn about Rani Sada Kaur during that period. Will definitely be reading this to my daughter when she’s old enough as it’s so inspiring too!
This was an amazing read, and one which the older children really enjoyed too! I was gripped from the get go and pleasantly surprised at how descriptive the book was. Only wish it was longer!
I didn't know much about Rani Sada Kaur, but this book was recommended by a friend, and I'm so glad I purchased it! It's so well written, I couldn't put it down! The way the author built the characters and described each scene was amazing. Inspiring and emotional. Five stars!
This book is exactly what we need for the Panjabi and Sikh diaspora community. There is so little in the form of novels on our history in English. Loved every word of it. Rani Sada Kaur, Rami and Desa are badass Sikh Panjabi queens!!
Wow! Absolutely amazing. This is a fantastic and exhilarating read and a fitting way to immortalise the story of a brave woman.
Ranveer Singh brings Rani Sada Kaur's story to life in a detailed and descriptive way. I felt like I was there with her through every step of her journey, be it in battle or making key political decisions.
A very well thought out book and you can tell that thorough research was done to bring the story to life in an authentic way.
This is a very accessible telling of Sikh history. This form of historical fiction is great for adults who want to become more familiar and also middle grade or young adults who will feel more engaged with this style of storytelling over a strictly history book. The glossary of terms at the back of the book is also helpful and of course it was awesome to read about such a strong woman in Sikh history.
This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so grateful that I read it. The story is beautifully written, with a roller coaster of emotions. I felt as though I was there, with Rani Sada Kaur on every step of her journey, and only wished I had come across her sooner. Highly recommend!
Loved reading this beautiful history of the Rani Sada Kaur, the misls, Khalsa Raj and the rise of Maharaja Ranjit Singh…. A must read for all those who wish to learn more about our Sikh Warrior mothers and sisters… 🙏
