Clive Gifford is a highly experienced journalist and author with over 170 books published and more than 800 features and stories written for adults and children.
Clive is an unusual author who likes to work in both fiction and non-fiction. Perhaps this reflects his unusual life which, so far, has seen him travel to over 70 countries, be held hostage in Colombia, go parachuting, coach several sports and run a computer games company.
He says: "What drives me more than anything else is the desire to communicate, entertain and inform through the written word."
Okay-ish book about climate change, nice Illustrations and got the most important facts across, but I missed sources for basically all the claims, and not too keen on the formatting.
This book contains a lot of good information about the basics of climate change. However, I felt like some of the graphics & page layouts were not done in the most clean or easy-to-understand way. Liked, didn't love it.
It is a basic, roughly one page explanation of almost all of the vital pieces of climate change. Meant to be read a page at a time, this is a great tool for teaching adults and children about our most pressing problem. I have taken a course on climate change and I still enjoyed the visuals. It completely lives up to a basic encyclopedia. Would recommend purchasing, renting, or borrowing from a library!
Why five stars? Well because of how important our climate is for human survival, it is everything!! Saving the environment starts with one individual. This book gives you a small, easy, and interesting look at the climate. The book will give you a glimpse into what is happening, and what could happen not to long from now; if no changes are made. So read and share. If we work together sharing the word about climate change, and take a deep look into ourselves, seeing how are carbon foot print is affecting the climate, and take the necessary steps to change, and changing is never an easy thing to do. Then just maybe we can leave our planet to the next generation better then how we received it.

Klimawandel. an.
- The book provides a clear and concise overview of the science behind climate change, including the causes, impacts, and potential solutions. - The authors use accessible language and simple graphics to make the complex topic of climate change understandable to a broad audience, including children and young adults. - The book is well-organized, with each chapter focusing on a specific aspect of climate change, such as the greenhouse effect, renewable energy, and the Paris Agreement. - The authors highlight the urgent need for action on climate change and provide practical tips for individuals and communities to reduce their carbon footprint and make a difference. - The book includes real-world examples of climate change impacts, such as rising sea levels and extreme weather events, to help readers understand the tangible effects of this global issue.
Weaknesses:
- Some readers may find the book too basic or simplistic, especially if they are already familiar with the science of climate change and its impacts. - The book does not provide a comprehensive overview of the political, economic, and social factors that contribute to climate change, which may limit readers' understanding of the root causes of the problem. - The authors focus primarily on solutions at the individual and community level rather than addressing the systemic changes needed to address climate change at a global scale. - The book may not appeal to readers who are sceptical or dismissive of the science of climate change, as it does not engage with opposing viewpoints or address common misconceptions about the topic.
A short and approachable book about climate change. There is art or an infographic on each page.
There are about 110 pages (broken into 9 sections) on the science and effects of climate change, 15 on large-scale solutions, and 10 on possible personal changes at the end of the book. The individual action section was the weakest in the book, a disappointing ending.
Nicely presented hardback with effective graphics and concise commentary outlining the science and available strategies for addressing climate change at every level from the individual to the global. I would have liked a bit more depth but as an introduction to children or adults, this is an excellent gateway to the subject.
basic covering of most climate change based knowledge. Would probably be good for younger people wanting to learn more about the subject as a starting point.
beautiful and well thought out visuals. felt like I was at a museum the whole time! really good initial overview re: climate change, and hoping I can dive deeper with other books too.
