“She’s clearly spooked about something.” “No,” Finn murmured and narrowed his eyes. “She’s not afraid, Tony. She’s bracing.” “For what?” “No fucking clue. I’ll tell you when I find out, which will be five minutes from now.”
Adeline Smith is running for her life from people who have hurt her and everyone helping her. Addie knows that she should keep moving but doesn’t know where to go and needs a place to hide while she catches her breath and comes up with a plan.
Finnegan Dawry is the calm, cool, and very capable Sergeant at Arms in Cascadia MC. Finn knows that he and the other men in the club can fix anything Addie needs help fixing if she’d only let them.
Addie walked into the roadhouse operated by Cascadia MC in a small town outside Seattle to get help loosening a couple of lug nuts, and seeing her feels like a kick in Finn’s gut. He’s fifty-fucking-plus years old and not at all prepared for anything to hit him anywhere, and then the frustrating woman won’t tell him what’s wrong. If they push her too hard, she might disappear down the road in a cloud of dust, so Finn will have to find a way to protect her until she’s learned to trust him.
This is a story about strength and survival and about finding something you didn’t expect in the middle of an absolute shitstorm.
Please note: This book contains crude words and somewhat explicit adult scenes. If this isn’t your thing, then this book might not be for you.
Thank you Mia Malone for another sexy, sassy,“mature” romance within the grit and earthy atmosphere of a powerful motorcycle club. Because people, there is no age limit on hardened bad boys with hearts and being over fifty does not consign a person to a rocking chair.
HOLDING ON is the story of a woman on the run and the man who stepped up to make her feel she had a home for her heart again and a safe place to put her trust. It’s also sexy, a little raw and filled with the perfect dialogue for each phase of Adeline and Finn’s relationship from strangers to something more.
Love the characters, the club, the author’s style and how she treats romance for our “elders.” Highly recommended reading to get your heart racing!
I received a complimentary copy from Mia Malone! This is my honest and voluntary review.

My first by Mia Malone. I like her writting style. Thank you Ms. Malone for writing MC in these age group!!
What a breath of fresh air reading matured H/h MC series! No unnecessary drama as we deal with 50's of age H/h and most supporting characters around the same age as well. No club bunny, no cheating, no raping. Just a good 'matured' souls falling deeply in love.
This one was unexpected and I just loved it. The characters are all a little old than what I normally read and some of them have adult children but this was amazing. I really liked reading and I couldn't put it the fuck down. Can't wait to read the next one.
This was okay. Hero and heroine in their 50's. Heroine is no shrinking violet, she's able to look after herself. I have liked this author and tbh I think I was expecting a bit more. I found the banter between the Hero and heroine at the start a bit stilted, I don't know it just didn't really click for me. Ex wife drama for the Hero but it seemed like it was going to be something then really wasn't. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and previous characters from previous books by this author appear.
Re-read number 79 (or something close to that number) in May 2024 I've been in the worst reading slump ever lately...so what do you do when no new story brings you joy? You reach for THE BEST...this author, with her gift of story telling, is a gem I am so grateful I found.
I am not rendering a rating. Addie and Finn are a couple over fifty discovering romance on their own terms without being defined by age, taking us down memory Lane referencing Black from the Thor MC series and Gibson from The Brothers as well as secondary overlapping characters. I am fan of this writer’s work having read them all and having thoroughly enjoyed them. This one pales in comparison and failed to meet my expectations.
Adeline (Addie) is on the run escaping the villains for fear of anyone in her life. Three quarters into the book, the revelation remained secret.
Addie’s life to date, was one of grief and loss. The book begins being on the run ... meeting Milo in Alaska as he teaches her survival skills and impresses her with maintaining a low profile off the grid.
She plans to temporarily seek refuge at the MC as the cook as she waits for Milo to find her. Their attraction seemed forced, I didn’t get the depth of their feelings, and Fin’s ex-wife Amanda was a mere irritant.
(1) Adeline’s nephew got involved with the wrong people that got him killed, never having children, and with a sickly sister from her teenage years, she became his surrogate guardian while they lived in Chicago. Later, when they lived on the East coast, he visited.
(2) Her sister, Veronica or Vera suffered a chronic neurological illness, rare but similar to ALS. She was steadily declining but they all assumed she’d have at least ten more years. She blamed Addie for her son’s death, so the sisters avoided each other for a few weeks... Vera’s husband rang and said she’d had a sudden fatal episode.
(3) Her brother-in-law described as strong...committed suicide two weeks after his wife’s funeral. Less than a month later, her mother had a heart attack while driving to the library and crashed into a tree.
(4) Her best friend from high school had a stroke, a few weeks later. Her husband was devastated and tried to coerce me into moving in with him.
(5) Her ex-husband cheated on her, shacked up with his side piece, she abandoned him, he got involved with his small-time crime relatives, got into drugs and/or alcohol, developed cancer and died.
Bad luck of epic proportions...
Fin’s daughter, Samantha, is an ER doctor. He was married to her mother, Amanda for five years. Four of those years were miserable, mainly because they didn’t love each other and whatever semblance of lingering affection, vanished when he realised that she’d been having a natatorium of men including ones he personally knew. It took him a long time to realise, hence, it was a significant number of men. For an ‘allegedly’ astute man, he was rather bewildered.
Addie finds sanctuary at a MC, accepting a job as their cook. Not wanting to endanger anyone, she keeps her secrets but everyone recognises someone on the run, she’s hiding in plain sight. Some seriously evil people want her dead, she has something they want, enough to kill for it.
Addie’s ex-husband Stefan’s family arrived from the Balkans, most likely exiled. It was then Yugoslavia, but they’re from the part that’s now Serbia. He was a good man when they met, working in IT at a manufacturing company...but, life changed. Their marriage stagnated, he cheated and they split up. He hooked up with his side piece, but that was short-lived. She dumped him, and he became depressed. He asked her to reconcile but Addie rightfully refused.
He started indulging in alcohol or drugs, they now lived on different coasts Addie having moved back to Chicago after they divorced.
Stefan started working in the family business, and they’d sometimes talk, he never blamed her for anything that happened, but his family did. He had his parents and an older brother, Ivan. Ivan was married from time to time, but the wives were usually arm candy, vacuous bimbos, and as the years passed, they were noticeably younger.
Five years elapsed, and she rarely heard from them. Stefan sometimes rang, then he got cancer of the liver and somehow they held her responsible. Had she not rejected him for cheating, he wouldn’t have started drinking, and then he wouldn’t have gotten ill. His health rapidly deteriorated, he was sick for four months, and once it was clear he was dying, his family began their reign of terror. His father rang her and made explicit threats.
His brother Ivan was married again, but showed up on her doorstep, claiming to have business in Chicago. He wanted her to be his mistress. She refused, she then began noticing objects moved around in her house, she went to the police, but they said she had no proof. She gave them tapes from her security camera because a delivery man had shown up several times, but she hadn’t received any deliveries. Then the tapes miraculously got misplaced, and the police once again claimed that there was no evidence and closed the case. “They closed the case, just like that?” Gibson asked.
She spoke with her boss, Lars at the restaurant, and he said he’d help her, but then there was a massive water leak in the kitchen. He had his hands full and the police never rang her back. “Do you think someone was paid off?” Coop asked. “Back then, no, I didn’t think so. Now? Maybe.” “Someone in Chicago is paid off?” Gibson rumbled, and I blinked because he sounded furious suddenly. “Ex-cop,” he muttered with a gesture indicating himself.
They burnt the Greek restaurant in New Jersey where she’d worked for almost a decade. No one was charged, but Stefan’s father admitted that it was them.
Petty criminals, perhaps twenty-five or more, they’re involved in shady activities... drug smuggling, money laundering, illegal imports, tax evasion. They thought she knew all along because Stefan did, but he never told her. Poor, misguided Stefan wanted to protect her and saved all the details he could access since he was in IT. She flew out to see him when he got the cancer diagnosis. As she was leaving, he handed her a small box. The box was ugly, so she put it in the glove compartment and forgot about it, there was a flash drive in it.
Stefan in his naïveté sent them all a message and told them what he’d done. Said that they should leave her alone, or she would go to the police, thus endangering her. She visited again during his last days, and he told her about the email. He wanted them to back off, they all pretended that his plan had worked, he passed away.
She rang the police and they said the FBI would have to get involved, she had a meeting organised for the next day with them. Ivan and a couple of his henchmen picked her up, they knew exactly when and where. Her ex-brother-in-law, Ivan put a knife to her back. Being a black belt in Judo, she resisted and escaped not without physical scars.
Addie, Katie and Samantha are abducted and Addie made a deal with her ex’s crime family, they were taking them to a remote cabin for Addie to ring and make the flash drive drop. They would never have left that cabin alive because walking them to such a remote location could only mean that they planned to permanently get rid of them.
Adeline said she’d only disclose the location of the flash drive if Katie and Sam were released. Said they’d have to kill her and hope no one found the flash drive. She told them that she’d let them chase her if they let us go. “Chase her?” “Clever,” Milo muttered with a small grin. “It would be better for them if it looked less like a planned murder and more like a hunting accident. That’s what she said, and the men talked for a bit, but they suddenly agreed.” “How many men?” Finn asked. “Five.” “And they’re chasing her somewhere up on that mountain right now?” “Yes,” Katie whispered. “She hugged me,” Samantha said. “The f-g a*sholes let her hug us goodbye. She whispered to me where she’d dropped her phone, told me to run to it and call you. Said I should tell you it would be good for her to go where she was going because she’d gained some weight. Does that make sense?” “Good girl, she’s heading toward your territory.” “Absolutely,” Finn said, remembering how Addie had laughed about Chao going for rehab of his foot at the Thor compound and still whined about it being a fat camp. The mountain is vast, for someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing? Eternity.” “Not knowing the ropes means you wouldn’t make it,” Black muttered. “But Adeline knows what she’s doing. Three days?” He looked at Ice who nodded, and added, “If she’s lucky.” “Yeah,” Black agreed. “If she’s lucky. Might take four.” “If she managed to look at a map, then she’ll have memorized a route,” Milo said. “She could have,” Katie said. “They let us pee in private, and she could have used her phone to look at a map.”

I love how Mia Malone writes beautiful, sexy romances about powerful and interesting people in their middle years. This book is set within the Cascadia MC, dealing with Finn, the Sargent At Arms, a man in his 50s who still works out and is a force to be reckoned with. This MC is tied to Thor MC, which was the last set of books written by this author, and there are some cross overs with characters.
Addie is in her early 50s and over the last couple of years has lost everyone she ever loved. She’s also running hard from some very unpleasant people. She ends up in Alaska where she meets Milo, a old grizzled mountain man, who decides he is going to teach her how to stay safe in the wilderness.
When the people Addie is running from catch up with her again, months later, Milo makes her run until he can find her again. Addie finds her way to Cascadia MC, just as she starts to run low on cash, so when a cook’s job opens up at the MC’s roadhouse she jumps on it.
This is a really great story. Both Addie and Finn are very interesting characters who have lived fully before meeting. They both have rich pasts that give them real depth. Though they are instantly attracted to each other they don’t act on it immediately, there is some dancing around whilst Addie learns to trust Finn and the MC.
As with all Mia Malone stories, the supporting characters are really strong and fascinating. They provide a rich backdrop on which the story is laid. This author understands that romantic love isn’t the only thing that drives a person, they need friendship and family too.
What I particularly love about this story is that Addie isn’t a traditional damsel in distress. She’s strong, intelligent and skilful. She is capable of mostly keeping herself safe, except in the situation she’s in, where there are overwhelming odds set against her.
Though the plot is fairly straightforward, this story is captivating because of the characters and the world in which they live. Though predictable, there is nothing wrong with the plot, which is still interesting, despite it’s direct route from start to finish. There weren’t any real surprises to me, but sometimes I enjoy the sense of restfulness a straightforward plot can bring, so you can relax into the people and the world they inhabit. Mia Malone excels at this.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series, as the teaser at the end of this book looks great. I’m so glad we get to hang out with this interesting group of people for a while longer.
The booked grabbed me from the first pages. I really felt a connection to the characters, all of them and the story was a mystery I wanted to wrapped myself in with a nice cup of warm coffee.
The plot begins with Addie on the run and meeting a gruff, old mountain man named Milo. He takes her into the back country of Alaska and teaches her how to survive in the wilderness.
When the bad guys catch up, Milo makes Addie leave, but promises to find her. She runs into Finn, sergeant at arms for the Cascadia motorcycle club, who sees her and is immediately entranced.
Finn notices she's spooked and talks her into coming inside a restaurant owned by the club for a burger - but as they enter, the cook is having a meltdown and quits on the spot. Since Addie is running low on cash, she mentions that she's a chef and winds up with a job.
There are so many things I loved about this book... Mia Malone's main characters are always in their 40s to 50+ and have so much depth to them. Addie is incredibly self-reliant and doesn't just sit there waiting for a man to save her. And it has appearances from favorites in other Mia Malone series.
This book is a standalone, but it might be more enjoyable if you read the Brothers or Thor series first. A word of caution though: the author's skill at storytelling has definitely matured with each book, so the Brothers series, while still good, isn't as strong as her later books.
I was so sure Raz was gonna get a book (which I still feel has to happen soo er rather than later) so I was surprise by this turn of events.
I felt like the first 20 % were a bit hard to get into, but after that I finished it in one go. I love the relationship between the male characthers, it's hilarious. It is a stand alone, but as her characthers from other books show up a lot I think reading atleast Black and Ice first would make for a better reading exprerience. But both of those books and The Brothers-series are so good so congrats if you have the pleasure of visiting this "universe" for the first time!
I really enjoyed Mia's latest book. I have all of her books saved in a collection on my kindle and this one will join them. I'm also really happy that this book is loosely tied to the books about the Thor MC and The Brother's series. You not only get the beginning of a new MC series, but you also get to re-connect with characters from those books, which is pretty cool .I'm looking forward to the next book in this series, because I really love Mia's writing style and the fact that these bikers can be pretty intimidating, but with the women they love, they are all about protecting them and making them happy.
Love, love, love Mia Malone stories. She has hit the jackpot with just the right combination of great characters, steamy heat, and a plot that sucks you in and doesn't let you go until you've reached the end. Then you just end up wanting more of these characters and more from Ms. Malone. Addie and Finn's story catches you off guard with the buildup and the connection between the two. I absolutely adore these slightly older characters who have a history that makes them fuller and heartier, so you can really sink your teeth into the broad range of emotions they bring to the table. You can not go wrong with any of her books. She is a one-click author for me.
Where do I start? There are so many highlights in this books it’s almost impossible to choose one. The ages were an instant buy for me, I love mature couples, love that even with years and miles behind us we can still be passionate, still make dumb mistakes but have the wisdom to know we’ve made them and correct them quickly. Finn and Addy are perfect together, I love how despite the hell that her life had become she wasn’t scared or cowed she was braced like a lighthouse in a storm ready and indestructible. That’s an h that will stay in my mind long long after the book is closed.
This author cannot write these books fast enough for me. I loved that she writes a new series but characters from her other books makes an appearance. She also writes about mature people, and not those teenagers that have soooo much experience that others write about. Sometimes, when I read about an eighteen year old who went through so much and is so jaded I just have to laugh. Ms. Malone please keep them coming.
Interesting plot line that was a bit anticlimatic but that is a common theme for this author. The leaving her to come down the mountain on her own when, I don't know, maybe using a helicopter and searching might have been an option. Otherwise, strong mature romance with some dirty sex on the side. Not much MC action in this.
Gun proved her badassness and I enjoyed Milo finding happiness with Katie.
Good read.

I love reading about older couples, and I really loved having a strong, capable woman who is able to look after herself in a tough situation. Addie was just great, I enjoyed how she interacted with the guys. I loved that Finn, eventually, realised she was able to handle things herself.
Mia Malone tells a good story of adventure and love for the middle aged biker and his woman. Addie is running from her former family because her ex husband put her in danger. She rolls into the Cascadia Roadhouse and finds the men and women who can help her find peace.
Honestly I liked the book. It seemed rushed. I mean don’t get me wrong I love Mia books but I felt my self little bored with this one. Felt like the author used a lot of filler in the book to make it long. A whole lot of nothing happened. But that’s just my opinion. The characters are likable but they just didn’t get me excited for the next book.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked both Finn and Addie. Loved that they’re at the age they are and aren’t “old”. This book was a page turner and I barely put it down. Looking forward to the next book.
This is my first book from this author. I really enjoyed the way she wrote Adeline and Finn's story. There were some editing issues that I normally would not comment on but there were enough to annoy me a bit. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Really good!
I love Mia Malone books. I adore this new MC I can't wait for book 2. I love how her peeps are older. Your never to old to find love. Even with a Growly hot biker!!!
This is a great story with lots of turns and twists. The plot is fantastic and the characters are so believable. Would have given it ten stars if allowed.
Great start to a new series! Love Mia Malone and have read all her books! Holding On is an incredible adventure with a kick ass heroine and big hearted bad boy hero. Highly recommend it!
