Again good but

This is good but please why can’t this be a whole book.

The storyline is interesting and there are lots of unanswered questions.

The story of April and Valentin continues. What Valentin finds out about April is shocking. What April finds out about herself and why she is being held captive is mind blowing. Valentin is feeling better and she is given her own room where she spends her days. She’s able to venture to the garden with Valentin and have dinner with him but will he ever let her go or will she be held captive forever. What happens when Valentin finds out April’s secret and what plans does he have up his sleeve. His mother and uncle are evil and just want to avenge April but Valentin has other ideas. You won’t want to miss the suspense and page turning events of this book.

A Bratva story

This is a Bratva story that is reasonably interesting, but there is a sort of a cliffhanger instead of any kind of real ending and I find that the story is a rather slow burn 🔥 and I think it could be longer.

3.75 rating The story is pretty straight forward as far as Mafia reads go. There are a few typo's and some obvious editing issues, but overall the read is entertaining. The writing is good and the characters development is good. I do believe each character needs more emphasis to their back story in the first and second novellas, especially Dr. Cooker. The fact that she ends up treating a Russian Don who has been left for dead in an alley and her birth father (who is apparently only a sperm donor) is his biggest enemy seemed calculated vs., circumstantial. His mother and Uncle are both forefront at who the real enemy could be in this series, both having a tremendous amount to gain should he die or; led to believe that the death of his father and the attacks to the Bratva are coming from someone other than in his own family.

My biggest problem with any series such as this is that these novella's average 65-75 pages in length are presented as novels. Had this not been a KU read I would not have read these short stories.

The second part of Brutal Captor starts with Valentin recovering after being shot five times and found by April Cooker who they suspect is involved because of her father, Capeci, who killed Valentin's father, Vincent Ivankov. Being a prisoner April is interrogated by Valentin's Uncle Vikir. April claims she doesn't know Capeci and that she is innocent. Meanwhile Valentin is swaying about his feelings for April and against his uncle and mother's advice is keeping her alive. As Valentin wines and dines April during dinner, the attraction between them sizzles. His Uncle Vikir comes with a plan to flush out Capeci by showing April on his arms while going out to one of his clubs. What happens when they arrive at the club? This story ends in a cliffhanger for the next installment in this very enjoyable Bratva Romance with engaging characters and storyline I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

Takes the series a little further down the path

April, an ER physician, is stuck taking care of Valentin, bratva don, after saving his life when treating his five gunshot wounds. As the story progresses secrets come to light, the truth I sought, and a match thrown on the fire may burn more than the intended target. Brutal Captor II takes the series a little further down the path. Whether that path is redemption or destruction is still up in the air.

I really love how this story is progressing! There is so much suspense and angst in the storyline. That ending had me on the edge of my seat....damn I can't believe I have to wait for the next instalment!
My only slight frustration is that we have the story broken down into these much smaller ones.....I really hope that the author combines all these into one longer book, because I really think it would be a best seller!!

April is still held captive at Valentin's  estate and things go from bad to worse.  She is held under lock and key but Valentin seems to be drawing closer.
I'm really enjoying this series so much even though I'm not fond of Mafia books,  this seems to be different.  The drama behind the scenes seems to be insinuated violence and the simmering tension just radiates off the page.  That's the drawing card for me I think.  I really am liking Valentin's character, his hot and cold ever-changing personality.  Just brilliant to read about.

Well written continuation of Valentin and April's story, that is action packed with suspense and mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This short story does end with a cliffhanger.

Not to much can be said about the story or it will give away the twist and turns.

Valentin is recovering from his injuries, when his uncle reveals a secret about April. April wants to escape so she can get back to her life. Both Valentin and April have feelings for each other that they don't understand and try to hide. Things are starting to heat up in this episode.

Warning: this series is addictive. This is a dark mafia love series which is foucused on Valentin and April. What happens when Valentin tries to bring April's father out? Will Valentin let April go back to her normal life? Will Valentin being Don come between them? The answers are right at your fingertips. All you have to do is get this book and read it. But...not before you've read Brutal Captor book 1. I mean why take a taste of your of your favorite dessert when you can have a full serving. I recommend this book and this author. Oh, and don't forget your seatbelt, this is one helluva ride.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the series. In this book, April has learned who Valentin is and she is even more determined to escape. Valentin has also learned more information about April and is still unsure is she was involved in the attempt on his life. April and Valentin are also drawn to each other, even though she is still trying to deny her attraction to him. This book series is full of suspense and i don't know who to trust. I am loving it so far and look forward to reading more.

In this book both Valentin and April realize how they feel towards each other. An unrequited and unwanted attraction has them both fighting their feelings.
I really like Valentin and April, and Maxim is kind of growing on me, but that family of his is not fun.
A real page-turner, this book opens your appetite to what might come next, leaving you with a mouth-watering feeling for more.

Poor Dr. April Cooper is still at the mansion of Valentine Ivankov the Don of the Ivankov Bratva. After saving his life she is hoping to return home to her life. That's not going to happen if Valentine's Uncle has his way. There is plenty of action, drama, suspense, and now an attraction that they are both fighting. It does end with another cliffhanger. OMG This book gets more interesting and the story lines and the characters are great.
Valentin now knows April Secret that she Capeci daughter and thinks she a spy but while getting to know her his feelings are changing and so are April’s.There is chemistry between the both of them but they can’t act on it because they are enemies families.
But there is a big surprise at the end of the book.
Can’t wait to read the next book and also there is a sneak peek about book 3 at the end.

Brutal Captor

Four stars because it is a really good story but there are several flaws. But aside from my favorite genre of storylines, Russian Bratva stories are coming in second. Thank you Amber for a very good series but I think you could have written so much more in the books. I think your writing is full of imagination and the love that can happen not only in Disney themes but also in the darkness of the Bratva.

April and Valentin's drama continues where we were left off and her parentage is discovered. Surprisingly enough Valentin does not seek arsh punishement from her, but will slowly seduce her as he feels the attraction and it leaves him unsetled. The same can be said for April, but she is torn between going back to her life and friends and getting closer to Valentin. Is she who his uncle and mother think she is? Their journey will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what other bombshell may befall them. I can't wait to see what's next in the saga. Is it love or revenge?i volunteered to review the story.

This is the second book and the drama keeps getting better. Valentin and April is getting deeper into each other. This is an amazing read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You can read it in one sitting but it is worth the time. Can’t wait for the next book to see what happens. I highly recommend this series

Her secret has come out and she is in danger.
He is still finding his way as Don and is under attack.
Mutual attraction is an issue on both sides.
I was not expecting the secret or what he does.

April the doctor who saved the mob life has a secret he finds out her sperm donor father she has never met is his mortal enemy so now she is too . Can't wait for the third one . Well done characters and storyline kept me at edge of my seat .

Suspense

If you read the first book, you must read this one, it just keeps getting better and better. Can the good doctor talk her captor into giving her what she wants most, her freedom ? Will he keep her or kill her? What is in store for them both and who can they trust? There are so many developments to keep you guessing what is going to happen next.

One thing, I wish this was all one book...with that being said, I am all up in myself waiting for the next part to come out. From doctor, to prisoner to love interest

This is a great mafia story with danger, secrets and forbidden attraction. Is he my enemy? Is SHE my enemy? What does the future hold? Escape, freedom, death, love? Their path together is not a classic one, but does that make it any less real? I am very enthralled and entertained by Brutal Captor, can't wait for the next book!

April is still captive. Valentin uncle thinks she is a spy for her father. A father she has never seen or spoke to. He is fighting feeling for her as she is for him. He takes her to one of his clubs trying to flush out her father while at the club he comes to a big decision

April doesn't even know her father and just found out who he was not that long ago. Now Valentin wants to make her his wife. She has eluded him. He always gets what he wants. TBC

A continuation of April and Valentin’s story. So far, it’s pretty good so I’ve decided to continue reading. There is not much to say at this point without ruining some of the plot (if you’re reading it in parts like I am, at least). It’s definitely intriguing! Like a tv show you keep coming back to each week!

In the second installment of Brutal Captor, we see April and Valentin’s relationship start to slowly evolve. After being questioned she is told yet again that she will not be allowed to leave. Valentin takes the opportunity to show his more humane side at a candlelit dinner for two after a walk in the garden with April. What she doesn’t know is that she is about to be used as a pawn in the game Valentin’s playing with her father. His family is all for it until he drops a bomb on them all, including April. April takes advantage of an opportunity to the horror of Valentin. Will his plans go the way he wants them to or will he be left scrambling for a new one?

I enjoyed part two of April and Valentin’s story. I’m curious to see what happens next and to find out how it all unravels.
