Lured by the Alien

Rate this book
There is no way on Earth I’m letting these aliens drag me and match me as a mate.
Well...that’s probably why I’m not on Earth anymore.

There I was, just minding my own business, thinking I was agreeing to one interview.
Not a galaxy wide thrill ride involving blue bunnies, strange aliens, a galactic talk show host who happens to be a chicken...and…

Oh yeah, a big giant alien warrior who says I’m his fated mate.

I mean, I’ve never really gotten past the third date with anyone before and now I’m supposed to marry the guy?
Sure, he’s easy on the eyes. And he could bench press me with one hand. But if he thinks I'm gonna bend to his rules, he’s got another thing coming.

I’m just gonna get through this interview, and do whatever it takes to get back home in one piece. After we save the universe that is.

Smh. Aliens.

Okay, maybe I will “bend” to his rules...just this once.

This is not your typical Sci-fi romance book. Yes, it still has an alien hero and a human female who’s feisty, smart and deadly, but from there on it changes. Some of the extremely unusual aspects are an Earth chicken who hosts THE most popular talk show ever, a planet of big blue bunnies and the threat of cosmic domination.

This was so much fun. For the most part, the pacing was on point. The characters were a delight to read. I laughed so much reading this. It’s definitely my type of funny. I had a few issues with it. They were only annoying enough to lose one star. As a whole, this book wins.

Firstly the heroine, Juliette is awesome. In most of my reviews starring supposedly strong female leads, my complaint is always how they end up being a bit whiny and dependent on some other force, usually the male, to survive. What I like about Juliette is that she is set up to have war training and combat skills and this carries through. She doesn’t somehow magically after all this talk about what she can do, become useless and thus need the male or some other person to rescue her. She doesn’t make rash decisions and walk into things blindly which would be in direct contrast to how the author set up the lead and clearly just a plot device so that someone who is supposed to have the skills to avoid said situations somehow forgets their training and again, needing to be saved: non of this type of stuff happens in this book which makes it a delight to read.

Aeron also sticks to character. He’s a pilot thrown into a world that needs the skill-set Julliette has. He mentions this in his point of view often and respects her for it. He even has zero problems deferring to her when her skills are needed. It makes for a much better book that for the most part, it’s devoid of the man stepping in to be all heroic nonsense. Plus it allows the reader to focus more on what he actually can do, like fly and repair the plane and coordinate big intergalactic shows like intergalactic Idol.

One point that had me cheering was the section in the book where Aeron needs rescuing. I swear if it was Julliette that needed to be rescued it would’ve shot to a one-star review immediately and it would not have recovered. Both of these characters were written well and I enjoyed them. Even the side characters were written well. I had one issue with them though. Something about their timeline with Aeron seemed off. I couldn’t ever really tell if they were human or just looked human, something about the way they talked initially gave the impression they were then here and there the way they interacted with Julliette later on made it seem like they had been in space forever, almost too long to be human. It was probably mentioned but not clearly enough to alleviate my confusion.

Other little quirks like the Jimmie Hendrix joke. Aeron works for Samantha, an intergalactic celebrity. Entertainment is what he does, considering he is organising a galaxy and beyond wide Idol. Song and dance on a much more massive and political scale. Surely it would not be difficult to explain anything musical or entertainment and celebrity related to him. He’d understand that stuff easy. The disconnect in understanding human culture could’ve been easily navigated through his understanding of the entertainment industry. I felt this way about a few earth quirks that Aeron seemed more than capable of understanding with mild explanation but the author made it seem like it would be too difficult for him to grasp. Aeron was written smart enough to get it, and Julliette was written smart enough to understand this fact so it was one tiny thing that seemed out of character for both of them.

The laughing at fluffer seemed a bit much too. I find it really hard that Julliette would suddenly forget all her hard-learned training to laugh uncontrollably at what was, in my opinion, a really good joke. Later on, with the humans but not human side characters, it would’ve been stupid-funny if she and them went through all the adult images and jokes a Bunny named Fluffer could create. As it was her just laughing at the obvious like an eleven-year-old ruined the joke for me and it also took away from when the joke came back later on.

Samantha still makes no sense to me. Is the story implying that all earth chickens can talk and humans just can’t understand them? I was reading this entire book expecting a humanoid alien chicken appearance. When Aeron said she is an earth chicken Samantha’s awesomeness lost its value. She’s literally a chicken. As a human going into this book if there isn’t anything remotely alien about her she’s still just a chicken. And to add to that she still clucks. Julliette needs a device so she can hear her which again begs the question can all non-humans talk to all earth chickens and if chickens can be out there saving planets and running political schemes, why are they letting simple lifeforms like humans catch them and eat them. Samantha didn’t live up to her hype and was supposed to be weird quirky fun once she was revealed but came off as simply weird.

The fried chicken reveal at the end was like… why. A whole book read and now this information is dropped because it’s essential to the plot? Nope. It’s just an ending information drop that doesn’t change much of the story. Also, the before marriage are you sure about this speech, slowed the pace down. Just get married. Why are we stopping before the do for a private conversation? It should be all about the big moment at this point after a whole book. Why are we still on the idea of being sure thus taking up more page time after a fairly good ending? I honestly didn’t read a single bit of it.

All in all, none of the above took up enough page time to doom this story. Good leads. Well developed characters, a believable plot if you ignore the let-down of Samantha, and tons and tons of action and outright hilarity. I really, thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good action, clever and funny situations, and a good dose of steamy encounters. This story will deliver.

Needs Editing Pronto

Good story, Ms. Kings generally are- but this book needs editing so badly. I have no problems with missing commas, or the sometimes missing periods, yadda, yadda, yadda... but we have missing words, wrongly autocorrected words (like a lot), misspelled words, and there is a ton of missing spaces. It’s not good in the editing department. It kinda looks like it was typed on phone partly and then ended up be done without a single read through then published. Like I said, good story, but the bad editing is very, very distracting.

Oh boy

I just... 😒 chicken alien talk show vs area 51 chicken eating joint that people are cult like eating?
I could not for the love of puppies get over this set up plot . I just couldn't. I mean when you have an body guard ex military hot shot female protecting the chicken queen and bring in an alien ex military talk show worker to an chicken galaxy talk show host ..... I get stupid dripping out of my ears and a confused look on my face. Honestly I couldnt get past it to get into the book 🤷
Where the writers brain went to have this book set up I do not know but its a strange brain in deed
Sorry my whole one star is because of this weird chicken eating workers working for a chicken and a chicken cooking queens body guard going into space to meet the chicken host ...possibly smelling liked cooked chicken cause one of the aliens is hoarding chicken sandwiches and wolfing em down so I know he smells like he ate chicken..will that offend ..the chicken? See where my ridiculous thought take me 🙋
So nope just no .

This story is about Juliette and Aeron. Juliette is working as a security guard to protect the owner of Area 21 restaurant's Adrienne Mitchell. At the opening of a new Area 21 Chicken store in Nashville while Adrienne was giving a speech a loud bang occurs which starts a attack. Juliette takes Adrienne to a room in back for safety and then confronts the attackers. During the fight one of the attackers halo-suit turns off and she sees a purple alien. The attackers being expose leave but the incident is filmed by the crowd on their phones. This incident brings Juliette fame and recognition and Samantha The Chicken decides she wants her on her "What the Cluck with Samantha" show so she sends Aeron to get her to appear. Aeron along with Wilkinson and Walker go to her office and propose to take her to the show and while shaking hands during her agreement, Aeron recognizes her as his mate. Juliette is curious but thinks they're loony but finds herself attracted to Aeron. They then enter the Lincoln car the guys arrived in and drive to the outskirts of Nashville but when they start to fly up leaving Earth and arrive at a shuttle, she finds out they were telling the truth. This starts the adventure of Aeron and Juliette's romance which is another well written, engaging story, with humor that made me chuckle, and bad guys thrown in for the action in this delightful Sci-fi Romance ARC I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout and by Celeste King and Dannika Star in this wonderful series.

I'm sorry I wasted my money on this book. The book had a lot of potential and I liked some parts of it but then it just got ridiculous. Juliette was a wonderful, strong heroine. She had been in the Special Forces and really had her stuff together. I vacillated between liking and not caring for Aeron. He was no where near as strong or heroic as Juliette and seemed rather weak at times. The characters were drawn to one another and there was sex but even that wasn't very good. I really didn't feel a deep connection between them. The book had some editing issues that distracted from the positive parts of the story. I wasn't going to finish the book but decided I'd suffered through enough of it that I might as well finish it and see if it redeemed itself. The ending was better than the middle but it wasn't enough to help. If you want to read it, get it on KU. Don't buy it!

Juliette is in for the ride of her life as she jets off into space with the handsome alien, Aeron, for her debut on their alien TV show. The Zanthi will do whatever it takes to win the Intergalactic Idol show, which means making sure Aeron never makes it back. Juliette will need to use all her military training as she works with Aeron to defeat the Zanthi as they get help from giant blue bunnies, face off against alien warriors & take down a giant robot chicken as they race to save the star of the show, Samantha, the chicken. With bullets flying and Aeron hit, can help get there in time to save him or has Juliette lost her chance to tell Aeron just how much he means to her?

I loved Juliette’s and Aeron’s story, Juliette was a soldier but she’s had enough of living that life so she went into private security where she saved the chicken queen from being kidnapped by aliens even though she saw it with her own eyes she couldn’t believe it. Aeron used to be a pilot now he works in the galactic entertainment industry his boss is a chicken named Samantha, Aeron and agents Wilkinson and Walker are assigned to bring Juliette in for a interview and they had to tell her that aliens exist. There is so much more going on in this story there’s action, adventure, suspense, danger, chuckle worthy moments and some pretty 🔥 scenes, I loved this story it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This one is action packed with crazy situations and characters, humor, romance and heat.
Juliette- former Military turned bodyguard... for a chicken fast food heiress. Aeron- former pilot turned PR person...for a beloved chicken talk show host.
When Juliette is invited to appear on a talk show after saving her boss, she doesn't realize there really are aliens. She's about to go on a crazy adventure... Aeron is a workaholic totally focused on what his boss needs. When their ship is sabotaged, they must survive the crash, giant blue bunnies and enemies that want to take over. Can they make it back in time to save the chicken and the galaxy? Will they survive and have a future together?

This begins a wild romance story involving Aeron and Juliette. The story is fun and even has “cute” parts. The banter between Aeron and Juliette was the perfect entertainment for me since I enjoy humor in my stories. So many things were really over-the-top, but the story line prepares the reader for the silliness, so it worked well in this one.

Grab your copy and see for yourself the fun you can have with a story line that never shies away from anything… it just steamrolls over it all until you’re not sure if you’re reading or dreaming! It’s fun and crazy, and getting to laugh out loud makes it worth a quick read!

It kept me entertained and was a bit of a cheesy scrumptious read. It ensues with hilarity and offers the action bone within to tingle and rattle. Yes it was a bit over the top in a few places but it was entertaining. I usually do not care about proofing or anything and I honestly thought it was very formed and became a read I enjoyed. Miss King brings an eclectic view of aliens it is refreshing and wonderful to enjoy this right along with her. It is a fun read that will have you in the funnies for a while after you have partaken.

Celebrity Earth chicken rules the galaxy via a show.... what? Aeron, former pilot, is the current PR for the entertainment shows. Juliette was military trained and now into security. They cross paths and he sees her as his mate, which changes everything because they just left Earth in a Lincoln. The banter and funny situations had me laughing a lot. Some twists and turns cause one or the other to be rescued, while they still value what the other is best at. Loved the characters, except Samantha the chicken. The romance heated up pretty quickly. Enjoyed the storyline.

Juliette, former special forces, worked as the chief of security for Adrienne the Chicken Princess and restaurant owner of Area 51. Aeron was an alien that worked for an earth chicken, Samantha, that was an intergalactic superstar that interviewed aliens of all types and influenced many worlds. Aeron was part of a team that was sent to retrieve Juliette for an interview when he realized that she was his one true mate. The exciting and interesting journey that Aeron and Juliette began was full of intrigue, danger, plots, spies, betrayal, lies, desire and love. Fun read.

From crash-landings and giant blue bunnies, to giant robot chickens, this story is equal parts a-thrill-a-minute and an absolute riot. The banter between Aeron and Juliette is some of the quip-iest, snarkiest and best I’ve read, and Wilson and Wilkinson are still just as kooky as ever. I particularly enjoyed the slight gender flip; Juliette is the level headed and efficient ex-Special Forces, while Aeron is a PR reality tv exec who’s fixated on his job. I loved the tie-ins to the other books by Celeste King, and I can’t wait to read more in this universe.

Hilarious

I have not laughed so much in a while. From Peter the Rabbit and a planet full of blue bunnies to Samantha the famous chicken who has her own talk show. This book was full of laughs, stereotypes, action and nefarious plots. At times I howled with laughter. Let me not forget the alien PR rep and the private security human female. I mean the book was about their romance wasn’t it? If you like alien romance mixed with rom-com you will enjoy this book. I had to give it 5 stars because it entertained me that much.

This very well written SciFi Romance Book is a steamy, Alien Romance and was intriguing with well-developed scenes, story, and interesting characters. These characters have strong wills and personalities and their interactions are realistic. This intriguing story has the following: humor, twists, turns, adventure, action, love, steam and a HEA. It is a well-paced, alien romance book that will keep you entranced throughout.

This story is about a bodyguard and a PR executive but not quite in the way you would expect. It was a story that draws you in quickly and makes the book so hard to put down. It has action, comedy, and great love scenes. It starts out with one resisting everything they are feeling and ends in a HEA. It is a standalone story but with potential to be a great series involving the other characters you meet along the way. And the main hero is one you will never see coming. Well worth reading.

Lured by the Alien

I must say that I will give a book several chances before finally wash my hands of it. There has been no editing of this probably self published author. Not only were there many typos but also sentences that made little to no sense. I would not choose to read anything from this author I would however suggest a good English course to improve her spelling and syntax.

Weirdest book ever !

I can safely say that a galactic chicken equivalent to Oprah is one of the weirdest story lines possible but it works. Large bunnies and other kinds of alien life forms is just too funny to describe. So many one-liners with almost each page it had me chuckling so loud my family thought I was crazy. I could not determine if this book was just weird or just right. Definitely one to read just because a celebrity chicken? Happy reading.

Funny adventure and romance

I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. This is a very creative author. I gave it a lower rating because the book was riddled with misspelling, wrong words, non-existant words, bad grammar, missing words, extra words, missing phrases and extra phrases from beginning to end. The bad editing constantly interrupted the flow of the book, making it very difficult to read.

I had to DNF because it needs an editor REALLY BAD! I actually enjoyed the writing style and the found the story to be hilarious, if a bit absurd and a little on the romcom side, but I actually love that. It was different.

But definitely read like a first draft. Too many typos to get through it, unfortunately.

Funny and engaging

An Opera chicken galactic talk show host. Two overly curious possibly human MIB type romantics. And an ex military PR flyboy. Ever rangle a giant chicken? No it doesnt have anything to do with the hero. Well not much.

Great story but bad editing

This was a truly humorous story with a strong female. The male lead was written well, not dominant or a push over. The only reason it lost a star was the editing was terrible; missing and misspelled words along with formatting errors.

I’m sorry I couldn’t get past the 36% mark on this book. The blurb sounded pretty good, but the story felt like it missed its mark.. idk 🤷‍♀️. I most likely will try read another book from author as it could have been just this particular one..
