It was supposed to be an exciting job on a space station, but instead, scientist Dr. Regan Forrest finds herself fighting for her life when she’s kidnapped by alien slavers. Far from Earth and forced into a violent gladiatorial arena on the outer rim, she finds herself swept into the brawny arms of a big, wild alien gladiator.

Weapon, brute, gladiator, warrior… Sirrush warrior Thorin has been called many things. As a warrior of his people, he was a dark, dangerous weapon until even his own family were too afraid of him. Sold into slavery in the Kor Magna Arena, he has long ago earned his freedom. Now he enjoys the violent but rewarding life he’s carved out for himself. Until he rescues one small, smart, and perplexing female from alien slavers.

Regan is determined to make a place for herself in her new home. She may not have the skills to fight in the arena, but she’s smart and knows she can help...even as she fights her attraction to the big, bold, and fascinating Thorin. She knows he’ll never be interested in her. But when Regan catches a glimpse of her cousin across a crowded market, she needs help to mount a rescue, and it comes in the form of the gladiator she desperately wants. Warrior is book two in the Galactic Gladiators series by Anna Hackett.

Hackett is an amazing science fiction romance author. I feel in love with this series and devoured it one book after another. Warrior captivated me from beginning to end.

House of Galen is the home of the biggest and baddest gladiators in the galaxy.

Regan is another human women who was abducted by alien slavers and transported to the other side of the galaxy. She is rescued by her friend from book one, Harper. Here we see that Regan is trying to find her place in this new world. She’s not a warrior, but she is good with plants. I was over the moon that the author gave us a heroine who uses her brains and not her brawn. Regan plays to her strengths and although she is devastated at her abduction, she doesn't just sit in a corner and give up.

Thorin is a Sirrush warrior. They have very good vision, hearing, and sense of smell. He’s also a dangerous weapon that even his family fears. He ends up in the arena and attached to the House of Galen, as a Gladiator. He’s not sure what to make of this small women from earth who is turning him upside down. He feels he doesn’t deserve a woman like her. Thorin is a more complicated hero and I adored him and his struggle with his other nature.

Here we get to see less of the Gladiator arena and much more of the world surrounding it. As we see more of Kor Magna, we see that slavery is rife on this plant and we are introduced to more vile aliens and also along the way some allies.

The author flushed out the supporting characters; which made the storyline interesting. Besides flushing things out we are on the look out for more human women that have been abducted. I like the direction the author is taking.

The romance I adored. We see a very strong chemistry between Regan and Thorin, but it's not as straightforward as some relationships.

Warrior was another fabulous read in the Galactic Gladiators series. I loved Thorin and Regan’s story. Enjoyed the plot-line and meeting the secondary characters.

Cute SF romance, but the heroine was too weak and sometimes TSTL for me.

Having somehow survived a hellish ordeal Regan is now far from home with no way to return. Thrust into a world of violence were might equals right. Yes she's overjoyed to be reunited with her friend Harper but it's the scarily remote gladiator Thorin that catches her eye. Determined to be useful Regan utilises her botanist skills to find a way to be productive. When out in the market though Regan realises her cousin Rory is being held as a slave somewhere on the planet. Regan will do everything in her power to save Rory even if it means sacrificing herself. Although there's a big, bad gladiator who definitely isn't happy about that but then again Thorin hasn't exactly been honest with Regan!
I like the ideas in play here and it's a scenario that works surprisingly well. However in this the follow up to Gladiator we see far less of the arena and much more of the world surrounding it. I was over the moon that the author gave us a heroine who uses her brains and not her brawn as the idea of a small human female besting giant aliens just didn't ring true. Regan plays to her strengths and although she is devastated at her abduction she doesn't just sit in a corner and give up.
Thorin is a more complicated hero. As a reader we know there's something unusual about him and it isn't something he wishes to share with Regan. This makes him unapproachable at times, almost quixotic as he obviously does want Regan and yet believes he isn't worthy . There's very strong chemistry between the couple but it's not as straightforward as some relationships.
The fact that slavery is rife on Kor Magna is used to good effect here as the author introduces even more vile aliens and Regan volunteers for something that gets very messy indeed . If brutally honest there's a scene that I felt went too far over the top as not only do we encounter bloodthirsty aliens but also a myriad of creatures and even vicious flora and fauna! Less is more and unfortunately this part of the book felt too fanciful to this reader. What I can say is I did prefer this story and the author is fleshing out supporting characters which makes it very interesting indeed. If you enjoy stories that take you away from reality whilst allowing even the most mixed up , lonely characters to find love then this series should definitely be on your book radar!

4.5 STARS

This is a very interesting series with a nice dose of hotness!

Thorin is a beast. One of the biggest and strongest gladiators in the ring. When I said beast I meant beast. He has kept his other side leashed for years but his beast is becoming hard to contain around Regan. Thorin always thought it would take a physically strong woman to handle all his desires but finding this curvy intelligent Earth woman has cause him to rethink what he and his beast need.

Regan is beyond happy to have been saved from her captives. Coming to grips with the House of Galen being her new home is becoming less difficult as she finds a way to contribute. She is trying to focus on her botany and creating healing medicine but her mind keeps going back to the gladiator that has taken over her dreams.

Loved their story! Incredible plot. Incredible secondary characters. Found it difficult to put this down and head to bed last night.

Only reason I dropped it to a 4.5 star is compared to book 1 it was a little less hot.

Off to book 3!

Happy reading! DD💕

The Warrior is Thorin and Reagan’s book. Reagan was just rescued from the Thraxians, and Thorin is the big ax wielding gladiator that’s good friends with Raiden. It’s totally nitpicky, but I don’t like it when authors use similar names in books. I read fast and it trips me up, so I wasn’t a fan of Reagan and Raiden being so similar. 😏

Reagan and I didn’t get off on the right foot when she snarked “She has a name” after they almost died saving her ass last book. I wish I could say she gets better, but I struggled with her. She puts herself in several (4) TSTL situations, then gets huffy after having her ass saved again and again. Stupid choices don’t make you brave. She also lifts/juts/raises her chin all the time, another pet peeve. Scowl or roll your shoulders back, but don’t jut your chin… it’s immature, and she-douchey.

The two are attracted to each other, and Regan decides pretty early on Thorin’s it for her. I give her props for going after what she wanted despite him pushing her away, but some readers might find it a smidge desperate. Thorin is a manwhore who’s hiding a “monster” and feels he’s unlovable. He also has a sad backstory. He pushes her away for quite a while, but still protects her. He’s never really mean; he just puts her off.

Bottom Line- This one was just ok for me. It was much the same and Reagan was no Harper, and it showed. Next up is her cousin Rory, and she seems annoying with a big mouth, so I’m going to pass. I’m not feeling this anymore, and think I might just skip to Galen’s book, because he’s my fav. There’s one situation where Thorin tries to push her away using two flutterers. He kisses one for a few seconds, but that's it for OW drama.

I can’t believe I’m about to say this, because I usually love Anna Hackett’s stories, but I very nearly put this book down unfinished. Several times. I found the first book in the series fun, if a little formulaic with its alpha male fighters, but this one wasn’t even fun. At least not at first. I have a few reasons for this.

Let’s start with Regan. Having read the first book, Gladiator, I knew she was in the attack on the space station and turned into a slave, which was a horrible time and got progressively worse as the others tried to rescue her. However, this book starts after all of that and doesn’t bother to recap or go much into detail. Which means that despite the fact that Regan should have been a highly sympathetic character, I didn’t care for her at all. A few scenes or a prologue dealing with the attack from her pov would have been great, but nope, all we get is whiny Regan doing stupid things for stupid reasons because, oh noes, she doesn’t like being confined.

Not a great start. It isn’t helped by her seemingly magical plant powers that enable her to apparently reverse engineer a highly sophisticated med-gel (with no previous knowledge of it) and improve upon it. I’m not even sure how long she’s been free at this point, but I don’t think it’s long, days rather than months. She also brings plants back from the dead. Maybe if I’d seen her actually working on these things I might have cared, but as it is they’re just presented as stuff she’s done and I guess it’s supposed to make her interesting or something. Sadly not.

Throw in childish tantrums and ridiculous behaviour and I was about done with her.

I stuck with it, though, because I like this author. I never came to care all that much for Regan, but her foolish behaviour does settle down. Mostly. It gets replaced with emotional issues that only ever felt skin deep, but I could just about cope with them. I just wish there had been more to Regan than whining, longing and silly stunts.

Then there’s Thorin. Who has an axe. But is not a dwarf. No, he’s this huge humanoid alien who sometimes has scales and has a Tragic Past that means he is an Abomination and a Monster who has done Bad Things and is not worthy of the love of a Good Woman. He is big and muscled and alpha and should really only communicate in grunts. Like Regan, he is stunningly lacking in any back story, and it takes ages for us to learn what his big secret was (and then only in the vaguest of terms), which left me feeling lukewarm at best towards him. He’s just too much of a cliché.

There is of course a romance between big brute and fragile female. It wasn’t the well balanced partnership I usually love from this author. It wasn’t really anything except sex and some melodrama about no one ever truly loving me for who I was before I met you.

However, away from those two, there is a rescue to accomplish, which was enjoyable in a everything-including-the-kitchen-sink-attacks kind of way. I liked seeing a bit more of Kace and that casino owner was intriguing to say the least. I wasn’t happy at the way Harper seems to have been sidelined, though. I liked how she earned Raiden’s respect in the last book, but now she seems to get a lot of pats on the head as she’s left behind in various places in some token role while the big manly men go off and do the dangerous stuff, with Regan dangling under Thorin’s arm in a scantily-clad-damsel way.

All in all, I found this one disappointing. I was really excited for this series, but it lacks the intelligent fun of the Phoenix Adventures and the passion and drama of Hell Squad. The sex is still hot, but the characters aren’t coming alive for me and the relationships are lacking in both depth and balance. I’ll certainly try the next one, but so far I’ve been left sadly underwhelmed by these gladiators.

I liked it but not as much as the first. Thorin pushed Regan away too much. And Regan took his shit. Thorin also did something I HATE . But I really like this series and cannot wait for Galen's book!

Was ok

I wasn't as enthusiastic about this second book as I was of the first book. I liked the characters well enough along with the storyline, but something about this book just didn't click with me. Maybe I feel it is the same recipe over again - human slave rescued by barbarian gladiator and they fall in love. The action is there, but I think it is !missing that emotional component. I think I'll take a break from. Reading the next in the series.

Did not finish reading.

I stopped because the main character was unrealistic. She had been kidnapped and enslaved and was recently rescued. She knows her environment is rough where might makes right. She knows she is a small female with NO experience with protecting herself. Yet she continuously puts herself in situations where she can get hurt stating she can take care of herself, when it is obvious she can not protect herself in that environment. Now I love strong female leads, but that strength needs to be paired with self-awareness. If a person has been in the situations she has, I would think she would have developed some sort of survival instinct. From what I've read so far, she has none and that is not realistic.

Warrior is the second book in the "Galactic Gladiators" series. This is where we get Thorin and Regan's story. This pairing was hinted at the end of the first book. So I was super thrilled to get to their book and I was so curious to see what Anna Hackett would do with this one and if we would see what happened with the other women being held prisoner as well. I immediately got sucked into this book and just couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved everything about this one. What I really love about Anna Hackett, is her books aren't super long but they feel full length novels even though they are only around 200 pages. Not saying it in the way that they drag, but that they deliver stories that have such depth and full delivery as you would expect from a 400 page novel.

What we get in Warrior is opposites attract and unrequited love or resisting love I guess haha So the gist of the story is that Regan is a scientist and doctor who was kidnapped and then sold and she was then rescued and brought into the fold of the Galen Gladiator troupe. There is one that she has a connectioin with, Thorin. But Thorin is much more than he claims to be and believes he is too rough and brutal for a soft gentle woman like Regan. But Regan is determined to win this stubborn gladiator for her own. I just love a pining heroine who is willing to fight for her man.

Warrior was such a brilliant read and honestly I just couldn't seem to get enough of this one here. I was so easily caught up into this one and their romance was so emotional at times and deeply resonated with this reader. Their story is so easy to fall in love with. At first Regan is recovering from being abused and kidnapped, but as she embraces her role with the team and builds her science lab and is able to help the crew, she also finds her own strength again and embrace her path toward Thorin and finding her cousin. And the true identity of Thorin is revealed, Regan and Thorin find a deep resonating love to fight for....

Overall I found Warrior to be a thrilled, edgy, packed with adventure filled romance that will tantalize and thrill you!

This is The Geek and the Gladiator - sci-fi style , or as one of the other characters called them "The Beauty and the Beast".

I'm not sure whether Reagan is brave or stupid for her defiance since she's the smallest and weakest being around but it's cute seeing big, scary Thorin being so protective. Another sexy installment from Ms Hackett. It looks like it's Kace and Rory next, should be interesting.

Meeeeehhhhhh. After loving the premise but not so much loving Book 1 of the series, I had hoped that Book 2 would take the overall strength of the plot idea and build on the weaker aspects, but sadly it did not do that, for me. Aside from the premise, everything else felt flat, and lacked both heart and engaging spark needed to maintain interest.

If I didn’t have a goal to at least try every Anna Hackett book, I’m not sure if I’d continue with this particular series. She has much better ones!

This was an enjoyable and entertaining read.
I had a lot of fun and read the whole book in one sitting.
The world building is fantastic. The author is really creative because we meet a lot of new species and plants.
Regan and Thorin have great tension. There is some back and forth between them because Thorin thinks he is not good enough for Regan. Thank god this woman is confident and knows what she wants because she never gave Thorin up. Sometimes she forgave him too quick (in my opinion) and she pretty much just ran after him everytime. I‘m glad that Thorin comes to his right mind and fights for her.
The plot was good and interesting.
I will definitely continue reading this series.

This series is full of action and the romance I crave! Love knowing that there are so many books in this series, I feel like when I get to binge watch shows on Netflix! Going to gorge myself on the rest and then move on to Anna's Hell Squad series (16 in that one). If you loved the movie Gladiator (I sure did) then you should definitely check this series out.

Hot and Short

Not a long complex novel, but fiery hot and quick read about three hours. BTW did I saw HOT I meant scorching. Sexy Alien Gladiator plus Earth Girl = explosive explicit bedroom romp. Not much Science Fiction as mostly swords and axes, but fun escapism.

Re-reading but Sexy alien gladiators are hot!

Abducted by aliens, earth women are now thrust into a world where it's fight or lose and end up as playthings. But lucky for our sassy, strong women they end up in very capable hands of Galen and his gladiators.

There is plenty of action in and out of the sheets.

The first in this series was the 3rd book I read this year.

Now I'm giving myself a mental shake because why the hell did I not continue!? Seriously, I loved this one almost as much as the first.

Almost.

There were a few things that bothered me in this one.

Although I liked Thorin for the most part, he pushed Reagan away a lot. Like dude, enough is enough. And as if that wasn't bad enough he... Not cool dude. Not cool.

Also, when a bunch of big, brooding dudes who can figure out how to kill you in more ways then one with just their hands tell you to stay put, they got this, then you fucking stay put. I'm looking at you Reagan, looking at you.

All in all I was entirely entertained. The idea of big sexy gladiators in space is super hot and Anna Hackett does not disappoint with the concept. Totally dig the way she describes the planet and I can totally agree with the Las Vegas comment. The whole story was a movie in my mind.

This was an OK read.

Seriously, I didn't like the story much unlike the first. The two main couple in the story just didn't work for me. I didn't like Regan in the story [may be I was expecting too much from her of how she was portrayed in the first book] with her whiny character and over fragile characteristic when she was supposed to have learn some basic combats in the first story. In her we just read of Regan as somewhat childish that throws tantrums and is always in need of rescue. I know some of you might say there is a difference in strength which it is but she can use her brain and be able to dodge at least after all she was not completely clueless in combat.

Don't even get me started with the hero Thorin. I did my best to like him but with his attitude and his brilliant plan to make Regan give up on him killed it for me. This two in my opinion was not well balanced unlike the first couple. [Maybe I am not bias with my outlooks of the couple comparing them but that is what I feel]

I was giddy with excitement when I read the first book in the series and gave it a most enthusiastic 5 stars but the giddiness had calmed down somewhat when I started this book.

This is an ongoing series about a group of space explorers from Earth who were captured by a nasty group of Slavers. The first book set the series up and this continues the tale of a group of galactic gladiators who dedicate their time when not in the ring, helping out the group of Earth people.

Regan Forrest is the heroine in this story. She had been rescued at the end of the first book and is a good friend of Harper, the heroine in Gladiator. Thorin is the gladiator hero in this book. While he is big and brave and protective, Regan is small and not a fighter like her friend Harper. Regan and Thorin are a case of opposites attract. Thorin is of comfort to Regan when she realizes that she will never be able to go back to earth again.

The storyline of battles between the evil Thraxians, the race that captured the people from Earth as the Gladiators try to locate more of Harper and Regans team.
Since I wasn’t as giddy and didn’t find this one quite as good as the first book, this one isn’t a fiver, but I still enjoyed it more than enough to keep going with the series. Every book seems to end with the saving of the main character in the next book so this is another reason I’m keeping on keeping on with this Galactic Gladiator series.

I've fallen into Alien Romance and I can't get up.
On a suggestion list from one of my favorite bookstagrammers, I found this series and now I'm about to devour all twelve of these books.

Regan is a scientist that was a part of the space station with Harper. She wasn't as lucky with what house she ended up in and is still dealing with the after effects. But, she's found a place with all of them and has a serious crush on Thorin, one of the men who saved her. Thorin has problematic issues and holds himself back from everyone and everything. Content to fight each night in the arena and enjoy a woman, but never keep her, is fine by him. Until Regan it was at least.

I liked that while both of them were attracted to each other it took time for them to care for one another. To let their walls come down and truly care for each other. The drama at the end was my favorite part, which I won't spoil, but it was enough for my dramatic heart to be content with. This series has really taken me by surprise-- these two Alpha males have made my heart pitter patter. Can't wait to see what's in store in the next book.

Nice SF romance novella. The heroine was TSTL a couple of time yet she is this smart scientist. The end pushed readers belief of her plant for healing ability. Still it was more for the relationship. It was sweet with two insecure people when it comes to their relationships.

I have to admit something here. I basically, kind of skipped all the inner dialogue and some of the action. I was just reading the scenes that the mc interacted with each other.
*raising my hand* Guilty. That's why I gave it 3 stars. Their scenes were nice and hot and everything but other than that, but overall I don't have a clue what went on.
