يتناول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب حكاية تحرير سيبيريا من مجموعات التتار بواسطة مجموعة من الثوار الروس الملقبون بالـ(القوزاق) تحت قيادة الأتمان برماك في الفترة الزمنية الممتدة من 1581م 1584م، واشتقت كلمة يرماك من أصل روسي وهي تعني -حجر الرحى- وقد لقبه إياه أترابه وزملائه لشدة ثباته وصلابته.

About the author

Никола́й Алексе́евич Абра́мов, ethnographer of Siberia and Central Asia, councilor.

Born on April 29, 1812 in the city of Kurgan, Tobolsk Province, into an old Siberian priestly family.

He graduated from the Kurgan public school, and then entered the Tobolsk seminary, where he studied Latin, Hebrew and Tatar.

In 1851 he became the superintendent of the Berezovsky, Yalutorovsky and Tyumen public schools. On his initiative, a female school was established in Tyumen.

From July 1853 he began to serve in Omsk as a clerk in the 1st department. Main Directorate of Western Siberia. In 1854 he was appointed an advisor to the economic department of the new regional administration and moved to Semipalatinsk.

Abramov wrote about a hundred articles and notes. More than twenty of them are articles of a geographical and ethnographic-statistical nature (description of the Berezovsky region, the cities of Tyumen, Semipalatinsk, Kurgan, etc.), observations. Articles were published in "Notes of the Geographical Society" and "Tobolsk Provincial Gazette". About twenty articles about Siberian antiquities, about mounds and settlements in the districts of Tyumen, Yalutorovsky and Kurgan, about Siberian coins, etc., more than 10 on the political and social history of Siberia. In 1857 he wrote many works about Semipalatinsk, over 40 articles on the history of the Siberian Church and Siberian church antiquities.

Since 1858 he was a member of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society, was awarded two medals.

In 1865, Abramov was elected a corresponding member of the Tobolsk Physics and Medicine Society and the Society of Natural Science Lovers at Moscow University. Has many awards, including the Order of St. Vladimir, 4th degree, Order of St. Anna, 2nd degree, etc.

Nikolai Alekseevich Abramov died of paralysis on May 3, 1870.
