“The worst monsters are always the ones that live inside us…”The Kindly Man’s extraordinary gift has freed Hannah Ginter from the consequences of a life poorly lived. Desperate to understand the miracle that has happened to her, she revisits Southwark in an attempt to find out why and how her youth was restored, determined she will never be drawn back into her old life of drunkenness and working the streets for faded pennies.

As she searches for answers to her own mystery, Captain August faces a choice of committing treason or standing trial for murder and witchcraft. In an attempt to save them both, Hannah is drawn into the shadowy underworld of Rumville, where she must not only deal with the schemes of Billy Righteous, the self-styled Grand Thief-Taker of Southwark, but also the long-lost desires of her new body.

But before she can discover anything, she must first overcome her own personal ghost, Despair, who seems hell-bent on seeing her dead before they can drive each other insane.

Confronted by her past and the fears it spawned to chain her to a life of misery, abuse and degradation, Hannah must defeat the monsters within herself. Only then she can stand with Captain August against the dark forces of Rumville’s underbelly and be free to take her second chance.

Execution Dock, part two of Rumville, a dark fantasy of broken lives and second chances set against the backdrop of 18th Century London.

I currently live in Suffolk in the United Kingdom and am fortunate enough to be able to devote my time to my three great loves - writing, photography and daydreaming.

As a writer of dark speculative fiction I have published the following novels,

The King of the Winter, A Bad Man's Song, Ghosts in the Blood and the Love of Monsters which form the In The Absence of Light series - a dark vampire fantasy set in 18th century London

The five book Hawker's Drift series - set in a small town in what may, or may not, be the 19th Century American West and follows a disparate cast of characters and their interactions with the town's Mayor. Who may, or may not, be The Devil.

In the Company of Shadows, an ongoing series featuring separate stories set in the same world as In the Absence of Light

The standalone fantasy novel The House of Shells.

Two free novellas, The Burning & A House of the Dead can be obtained via my website www.andymonkbooks.com.

2020 will see the following works published;

Rumville - a three book cycle set within In the Company of Shadows - is the tale of a alcoholic street prostitute dying of syphilis in the slums of 18th century London, who is mysteriously given a second chance to relive her misbegotten life. With the help of a crippled ex-soldier, she attempts to understand what has happened to her and escape her wretched life in the gutter, while discovering all gifts come with a price...

Dark and harrowing!

Phew, what to make of the second instalment of the Rumville series? Personally, I haven't a clue. The story was very well written and explored the terrifying demons lying deep inside Hannah's mind. And what a mind! Full of trauma, self loathing and fear. A former drink, drug and disease ridden prostitute given a second chance in life but, only if she will accept the miracle on offer. Her one true friend, the crippled and hideous looking former army officer is doing his best to see her survive the ordeal but, will it be enough? I suppose I will have to read book 3 to find out.
