The Seven #1

Chaotic Wrath

Rate this book
My name is Ivy Davis, and I’m a slave.
A prisoner in my own skin.
Living in a world so thick with uncertainty, so filled with death, I can barely expand my lungs to catch a full breath.
The permanent bruises on my knees are a testimony to the life I live. Kneeling for the devil who has taken years off my life and the clothes off my back.
The shadow of captivity darkens my soul, to the point where freedom becomes just another storybook ending.
That is, until the day the world erupts, the life I’ve come to know crumbling at my feet as Aziel Macklin walks into my life, with eyes that could cut glass and a sneer so lethal, that dormant muscle beneath my breasts thumps for the first time in years.
Aziel Macklin, Vice President to The Seven Motorcycle Club.
The fact that they nickname him the Wrath should frighten me.
It does.
But, when choosing between one devil and the next.
I choose him.

Review @50%…

I tried to give the book my all but around 50% it lost me and I trudged through the rest. There’s an instalove/lust aspect that just felt so unrealistic and rushed for someone in the heroines position. The hero is also an asshole and I hated the way he treated her. Sure he wasn’t nearly as cruel as her ‘owner’ was but he constantly talked down to her, reprimanded her and barely acknowledged the depths of her past. He manhandled her a time or two and it made me livid how little thought he gave to doing so.
Them hooking up so quickly just did not sit right with me, especially as the hero was very strongly coming on to her. Granted yes she consented and was all for it, literally jumping his bones. But he knew her past, he knew her history and still initiated things with her so quickly. Luckily she didn’t have ptsd or lose her shit as is common with many women in her position. I dunno it all just felt wrong to me and I never warmed up to them as a couple. She was barely a month into her freedom as a 19 year old mother so not only was her having sex with him out of character but so was starting any type of relationship with him. In so many ways she’s a child with a child of her own and them crossing the line so soon felt very very wrong.
The book also wasn’t nearly as dark as I was expecting and much of this is because her time in captivity is not really detailed much but there is one scene of sexual assault and some gross flashbacks. Other than those instances even the club was a rather tame place. Given it’s an MC read there is only a very minor OW issue that arises. At one point the heroine goes off on the girl and honestly it was just another scene that felt too out of character and in my eyes made her look ridiculous rather than badass. Overall this was an ok read for me. I really lost all hope around the halfway mark but again I’m not usually a fan of MC reads so take this all with a grain of salt.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The title has changed from Chaotic Anger to Chaotic Wrath by the way - so please do remember that.

Note 2: This is a series. And this book is a standalone -but would be best if you read in order - as past characters do make cameos.

Trigger Warnings: rape, assault, violence against women, murder, coercion, graphic violence depicted, death, negative attitudes towards sex workers, betrayal, infidelity.

This novel was definitely a heavy one to read - I mean just look at the long as hell trigger warnings.

Ivy comes from a world that was never hers, trapped and kidnapped at a young age, only to be human trafficked, turned into a slave for auction, and abused constantly with a surprise of her own because of it - because well she had unfortunate luck with her since that day she dared sneak out of her room to meet a boy.

Aziel comes from a world of ruthlessness, violence, but justice as well. They're the Seven MC - still think there's a reference here somewhere to fight club - but I digress. He's soon put into an operation to infiltrate a cartel boss' s** trafficking ring and rescue victims.

Soon Ivy meets Aziel and fate is already a petulant child about it wanting them together - look I wanted it too alright quit it- and well understanding, then friendship, then romance blossoms as they both battle demons of their own and come together to face those with confidence, and sheer ruthlessness.

YAAAH THAT"S HOW THE BAD GUYS LOSE!

Anywayyy - I loved it - loved spending time with Ivy and Aziel - though reading Ivy's chapters was definitely a difficult thing to do because well it's been sometime since I read a book so heavy on detailed scenes and well emotional experiences of an FMC in a situation like this - so yeah...but A.R Breck made sure I never suffered for too long and made it all slowly and surely better as the book slowly climaxed to an end.

The writing, the romance, banter, wit, hardship, and togetherness made me feel the brady bunch come alive with a orange is black, and godfather mix ya know - so much darker than these shows.

And wow - Jett's story is up next with his mystery heroine - so do look out for that one - already published - you already get a hint of the FMC but still gotta keep the mystery hehe.

So until the next much darker read, I suppose,

Ivy is 15 year’s old when she is kidnapped and sold to Jefe of the Mexican cartel, Santiago.
She spends years as his favourite slave and endorse torture, rape and isolation.

”My life ended the last night of my being fifteen years old.
In my mind, I died on my fifteenth birthday.
Well, Ivy Davis died.
Now I’ll ever only be his.”

Aziel is the VP of the seven mc. He is 25 years old and has dedicated his last year to stop Santiago and his trafficking of young girls. In one of the clubs attempt to catch Santiago, Aziel comes across Ivy and takes her with him back to America.

There is insta-lust for this couple and with Aziels upbringing with only bikermen and no mother, and Ivy’s last years as a slave, this couple have some struggling to overcome.

”I’m not the type of guy you think I am.” I brush her hand away, but she latches onto my wrist with a strong grip.
“Maybe so, but you’re also not the type of guy you think you are, and maybe you just need someone to show you that.”

I found it a bit weird with Ivy’s ability to trust and have sex with Aziel as fast as she did considering how she had lived. And I never actually started to even like Aziel. He didn’t grow on me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I found him not nice and disrespectful 🥸
At least Ivy reflects on her feelings;

”But on the other hand, for the first time ever I can act like myself. I can act like a teenager and have a crush on a guy that’ll never be mine. It’s been taken from me all these years, maybe I should give in and let myself be happy while I have the opportunity.”

I also struggled to connect with Ivy. She started off good, but lost me with all the yelling 😅
At the very last chapter the H was still easily angry and tried to control her choice of clothes. She still didn’t trust him and felt angst about what he was up to. I missed a HEA where I as a reader actually got to experience their development and “safety” with each other. That was lacking for me.

- No cheating
- OW/OM drama: h master is obsessed with her, a “Jessie” (biker groupie) is flirting with Aziel in front of Ivy and she loses her shit. I personally think she should have told the H to go f*ck himself, because he could never accept his friends to even look at her.

Arc in exchange for honest review !!

Once again as I do with all A. R Breck’s books I went in blind all I knew was the name and author and Damm I loved this book.

Once again she has written a heart wrenching book that will keep you on your toes until the very end. I really didn’t want it to end ..

Ivy got kidnapped at the age of 15 and since then had been living in hell and I mean hell, she has accepted she will live this life forever but in comes Aziel and The Seven and her world is once again turned up side down . This book is not for the faint hearted it does deal with a lot of touchy subjects but was written beautifully . Ivy and Aziel’s story is not an easy one it’s not one of biker falls in love with a innocent girl it is such a rollercoaster of a ride it takes you on one hell of a rollercoaster of emotions you won’t know whether to scream or grab some tissues or punch someone . I loved every second of this book can’t wait to read the rest of The Seven’s books!!! Btw it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger lol 😂 I recommend this book to anyone that loves two lost souls finding each other and realising that love is worth it all ..

Absolutely obsessed with this book! One of my favourites of the year!

Ivy is one of the strongest heroines I have ever read about. Dragged through hell and back from the age of 15 she is so brave and courageous.

Aziel is so perfect. The gorgeous biker doing everything in his power to get his girl to safety and protect her from the darkness in her life.

The chemistry between the two of them is so palpable, and drags you in each second the story goes on.

The many sensitive subjects in this story were handled with upmost care and written in such a beautiful way, all done tastefully, as usually is with this amazing author.

This story is absolutely phenomenal. Completely grabs you and does not let you go!! Must read!! Cannot wait for more!!

I was a huge fan of The Grove High school series but this is by far one of the best books I have read this year! Aziel is dark and unapologetically rough but the way he worshiped Ivy gave me goosebumps. This story deals with some really hard issues but it was handled with such great care and the story line was amazing! I was on edge and when I had to put the book down (it was Christmas Day) I was constantly thinking about this book and what was going to happen next. I am hoping for more books about the other MC guy’s especially Violet and West!! Absolutely brilliant and I would recommend this book to anyone!

Another amazing read!

If you haven’t read anything from Breck, this is where to start. Amazing story. Amazing Characters. Ivy and Aziel. Wow. Just wow. The writing of the book is so clear it feels like reading in color.

Romance is on point. Steam is there. It is a dark romance. So reader beware. It’s a dark and bumpy ride. But y’all it’s worth every angsty second.

Amazing

A.R Breck has done it again! I just love her stories . She will be an author that I read all of her books.

This book was filled with dread of Ivy's kidnapping and sold into human trafficking world. The daily life of a sex slave and the day's she had to live as one. The precious life she gave and would keep her compliant and her place. Now knowing she had no where to escape to. She must never try and escape that world. Her freedom would forever be a dream she couldn't capture.

Until Aziel arrives and saves her and her daughter. Her nightmare was slowly going to be behind her or was it? Could they continue to let Santiago run free and continue in the human traffic world.

It would be up to Ivy to help put a stop to the madness. Will they make it out of the Night of the Dead, walking away in victory?

This was another incredible story told by A.R. Breck. If you like dark reads with angst, filled with grit, then i recommend reading all her books. This is the sixth book of hers I have read and I can't wait to read the rest that she has!

Wow!!!!! This story is about a girl who’s world is turned upside down at a young age. She is torn apart and reduced to nothing at the beginning of this story. Insert hot biker who will stop at nothing to bring her out of the darkness! There’s tears, anger and laughter through the story. Bossy ass boys who will stop and nothing to protect what they want :)!!!!! Amazing story! I can’t wait for the next

Any time human trafficking is part of the story, I know its going to be a rough one. The author did a good job for the most part keeping the details vague. It was imp!led what was happening but wasn't in your face.

This was the first time reading this author. I will look for more in the future. There were parts or transitions other I wished had been smoother but for the most part, the characters and a plausible storyline kept this as a solid book.

The plot was solid, and HEA. Unfortunately I did not feel the connection between the main characters. There were a lot of grammatical errors along with words being misused or in the wrong context .

Five stars for Chaotic Wrack by A.R. Breck

An action packed, well written and emotional read!

𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

A.R. Breck really finished me off with this one. Chaotic Wrath is exactly that; a messy, imperfect, chaotic journey of finding love in the most unlikely of places. The characters are beautifully crafted and so realistically flawed, but their love story pulled me in from the very first pages.

𝗛𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗺.

The emotions in this book ran high throughout, it was so well written I found myself full invested and on the verge of screaming at the pages at times. Balancing action and romance is done perfectly too, moving the story along at a brisk pace but still giving enough insight into those sweet, meaningful moments that helped develop these brilliant characters.

𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱.

This was my first A.R. Breck book and my first MC romance but it certainly won’t be my last. I can’t wait for the next book and to see where the characters go next. Highly recommend this book for a heartfelt, emotional read with lots of darkness, blood and action blended in.

Had to quit at 41% the book went downhill fast the second Ivy met the bikers. I hated all the bikers and their mission of saving all the girls didn't seem authentic at all. I wasn't actually sure why they were doing it. ( I know why they should have been and it was a good idea) but all the bikers didn't seem like they actually cared about the girl they rescued. It seemed more like a personal vendetta against Santiago. Ivy like shit at the beginning for no reason.

It made zero sense how Ivy's whole deminer changed after being abused for years. She all of a sudden has the strength to stand up to big badass bikers. Many other reviews already address the poor editing so I won't go there but, I'll just say this, you know this book wasn't edited if I, a self-proclaimed illiterate couldn't push past the errors.

So many grammatical errors. I had to keep rereading sentences to suss out what the author meant. I had to rearrange words in sentences or guess what word should have been used in place of a very random word. I got sick of it at about 30% and DNF. It's like the book was not even edited. Also, the main male charachter was just a straight up prick who threw temper tantrums on every page and I got sick of skimming over the same actions on every page.

Good story

Good story but the many grammatical errors and duplicate words take away from the story. Also, some paragraphs break off in the middle of a sentence.

Nice read!! I'd say a typical biker story, however Ivy's situation was somewhat unique (very nice angle), which made this biker story a little different than others! 😃
My rating: 3.5 stars. (See spoiler for details!)
⚠️➡️➡️ ⬅️⬅️⚠️

Ivy to her friend Katie: "I tell her little snippets of my past life, giving her a dry version without going into the horrible details. That doesn’t leave much of a story though, and I think she can gather what I’m not telling her."
This is how I feel about this book: "..... a dry version without going into the horrible details! The readers had to gather what the author didn't tell us." For me, those details are important! 😉
Definitely not a bad story!! There were a few things though, that were too vague and/or too far-fetched for me! Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book, and I'm continuing with the ARC of book #2 Reckless Envy right away. 😁

A.R. Breck was a new-to-me-author.
What made me check out her books, were the a-ma-zing covers I saw on Facebook! 😍 Yep, I'm someone who reads a book because of the cover! And those covers screamed to me: "read me"!! 😉

★★ Thank you A.R. Breck for the ARCs!!! 🥰

(I'm Dutch and English isn't my native language; still even I noticed some typos, missing words, and such... but as this was an ARC, I assume they will be gone in the final version.)

yikes 😬 this book had so much potiential! it was just executed horribly! i actually like the pace in the beginning pertaining to how an abuse victim would be submissive and well...just kind of empty inside 🤷🏻‍♀️ i can actually relate. even azizels (or however you spell it) stance was realistic to me. it flowed great right up until the point of the two leads actually trying to start being more exclusive. 🤦🏻‍♀️ they moved so fast without any real understanding of who the other person was and after the first sexual encounter it was just ...no! ivy all of a sudden turned into this bold deadbeat mom. if you haven’t had the privilege of raising your daughter on your own and actually seeing her when you want your first order of business should be your child. not hopping into bed with the first guy that blinks at you. and for her to be a virgin when she met santiago (abuser) and only knowing sex to be this traumatic constant occurrence i found it hard to believe she could just hop in bed without any flashbacks or trauma, she started riding z like he was her long lost pony from the state fair. her abusive past was more of a prop than an actually story line.

and the fact that everyone else but her is taking care of her child and she sees no issue with that is neglectful. she hasn’t even made her child a meal, even when her child fell off the swing z grabbed her and cleaned her little wound! this girl was not fit to be a mother but she’s quick to try and find love? if she put her foot down half as much as she had fighting some house whore as she did for her child this story would’ve been in much better shape. also even the author states this multiple times in the beginning, ivy traded one prison for another. that’s abusive tendencies and it will only lead to an abusive relationship.

z is an asshole and i found it charismatic in the beginning but after seeing him being misogynistic with the scene with max his previous bed companion 🙄👀 he was just another guy. i lost all interest. and for ivy to basically look at this as some fling and...ugh i’m getting a headache. i think writers need to be more consistent with characters and dare i say stay in character. she can’t be beaten into submission for five years starting by from the age of fifteen just to randomly be 19 and all of a sudden she wants to take the boss of the mexican cartel down 🤔👎🏻🥱 bitch if you were that bold you had plenty of opportunities to gut him like a fish when you both were face to face

which brings me to my final point santiago is this big boss and he can’t even hop a fence to just get his child back? he has to keep sending people with bombs strapped to them or heads over said fence to ‘threaten’ and intimidate her... i don’t know a lot about cartels but i’d go as far to say they don’t fuck around. santiago came off way more american than pure mexican cartel boss. i don’t see any gate stopping them. yeah the more i type this review out the more i’m deciding to demote this to a one star...an ‘a’ for effort if you will but this story just was sloppy and written lazy especially for the length. it’s like giving me two pieces of wonder bread and calling it a hoagie 🤦🏻‍♀️💀😐 no real substance. authors if your going to go dark commit. if your going to do fluffy young adult go put some glitter on it.

i’m done. 🥱💀👎🏻another plot wasted.

2.5-3 stars.

It started out pretty strong.. but it went downhill fast. It felt like a book that had a lot of potential, but bad execution.

The sex trafficking aspect of the book felt real, and I was emotional for that.. It was a strong start to the book, and hooked me in. It started to go down from there though... HOW DID HE KNOW IT WAS HER BIRTHDAY!! Did he do background research on her... was there an inside man?! I really wish she had given us more insight on that because it just felt so random and unrealistic. I also thought the part where Ivy told Z that Santiago would give her updates on her parents and such seemed so bizarre.

I don’t know much, really anything at all, about trauma victims... but I feel like a week after she’s rescued and she’s already wanting to have sex with him and feeling the way she does just isn’t realistic. I mean.. maybe some trauma response is to take back your body sexually? But I just feel like being taken as a child, broken for 5 years and knowing nothing sexually except pain and abuse, she would be a lot less trusting.. it would have taken far longer to get where she was. Sure, emotionally she would have clung to her saviour, I just feel like the physical emotions would have taken so much longer.

Also, I get it, the girl is still a child herself, and being taken so young, she wouldn’t have matured.. but there were cringey moments of her lashing out so immaturely. Like when she freaked out on him having sex with other girls in his past and accused him of potentially having STD’s.. sorry, this is going to sound horrible but out of the two, she was at a greater risk of having them being from sex trafficking. And the Max thing was so pointless.. she just came out of nowhere, adding nothing to the story.

Lastly, I’m getting so sick of the ‘I was a hard man, but then I laid eyes on you and everything changed’ theme. It’s getting to be too much. Insta-love is fine, in the right settings. I feel like this book would have gone better had it been a slow burn. She was a sex slave for years! I just couldn’t buy the insta-love.

I will say, Z and Lilah were my favourite part.. those two were just so bloody adorable together !

Rating,
Chaotic Wrath: 3⭐️
Plot: 3⭐️
Characters: 3⭐️
Character Development: 2⭐️

The first two chapters are hard to read. I had to put it down for a whole day before going back in. I haven’t cried for a character in years. I cried for Ivy in those flashbacks. It’s like Little Doll by Melissa Jane and Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas had a book baby and not for the good.
I went into this book completely blind. Wish I hadn’t, so I could have been more prepared.

Plot, Ivy is kidnapped and sex traffic at the age of 14. She is held prisoner for five years.

Aziel the main male character who is 25 and in Seven Motorcycle Club. The Seven Motorcycle Club are in a war with Santiago, Jefe of the Mexican Cartel. During a battle in one of Santiago houses Aziel comes across Ivy and her daughter Lilah. He takes them back to headquarters of the Seven Motorcycle Club without a plan. Aziel takes he didn’t rescues Ivy and Lilah.
The book is focus on Santiago trying to coaxes Ivy into coming back. I will leave the plot on that note.

Characters, most of the characters are good except for Aziel. This would have been a five star review if Aziel character was written more well rounded.
In the end of this book I feel like Ivy is in a different kind of prison. A mental / emotional prison with Aziel as her warden.

I’ll say chapter 26 is my least favorite. Ivy deserves better after everything she’s gone through. Sensory overload is no joke. Wish the writer would have done a better job of handling mental health issues.

I’m not going to recommend this book.

Absolutely fantastic MC romance!!

This is the first book I have read by this author, I loved every second of it and I can’t wait to read more. Right from the very first chapter I was blown away by the intensity, the emotions and the gut-wrenching storyline.

Ivy’s story kept me on the edge of my seat and had my emotions all over the place. She’s a very strong woman who has been through hell and back. I am amazed by her resiliency and her ease of acceptance of the MC group who rescued her. She still has a lot of growing up to do but she has learned fast how to trust and how to love.

Aziel needs some work. He’s domineering, demanding, quick to anger but loves with his whole heart. The connection that he forges with Ivy is instantaneous and their chemistry oozed off the pages. Their interactions either had me loving them both or hating the way they treated each other. They are both young and new at relationships, so they definitely have some work to do.

This is a really well written story that will pull at your heartstrings right from the very first page all the way to the last page. You will be hooked, never wanting it to end.

Very disappointed

••••• spoiler alert••••• This book started out really good in the beginning there was lots of action interesting characters about midway through the book misspelled words typos started to increase and after things got settled with Ivy at the clubhouse the story just got almost rushed it was very hard to keep reading especially with misspelled words like clip when they were meaning clit, blonde when they were meaning blood it was just very frustrating and disappointing. Aziel Went from a nice caring man to belittling and yelling at her at one point grabbed her by her hair during an argument. Her character also flipped a switch and went from Meek and quiet too bold rude and loud at times screaming at Aziel. I actually quit reading about the 78% mark just because it got to ridiculous.

This book was great. If you love mafia or motorcycle gang romance this is the story for you. Ivy was kidnapped and trafficked to the biggest cartel lord in North America, Santiago. Aziel the VP of the Seven Motorcycle Club is determined to bring Santiago and his drug and human trafficking trade down. That's when he finds Ivy. She has endured tattoos, torture and isolation at Santiago hands and just wants to get away and sees her chance when the Seven MC bomb Santiago home. Aziel takes one look at Ivy and takes her and her daughter home while he hunts down Santiago.

Ivy is one of the strongest heroines i have ever read about. She has gone through hell and is still fighting. Her relationship with Aziel is perfect. He is great with her daughter and great with her and her limits and trauma from her years in captivity. I loved all the guys in the gang and can't wait for Reckless Envy!

The read was good enough to pass the time, but the topic of human trafficking and the enslavement of women is handled by the author in an insensitive and overly impersonal manner. Not that an MC is expected to be thoughtful, but I fail to connect with any of the main characters or their circumstances.

Ivy was kidnapped and abused from the age of fifteen. She hasn't had a chance to mature, let alone understand what a healthy relationship is, yet right off the bat she connects and falls in love with Aziel.

Aziel pretends to be an avenger for such women, but his mind is obtuse, irascible and quite closed. He doesn't know tenderness and mild manner.

For me the chemistry is non-existent and the situations quite unrealistic.

As I said: to pass the time and little more.

This book was awesome! Adult content and violence.
A.R. Breck wrote an amazing story. The characters are so alive.
Ivy a young and beautiful 14 year old ready to have fun with her teen years. The first time she sneaks out of her house to go to a party, she never makes it. A vehicle comes up the road, slower & slower until the next thing she know she been taken. Ivy ends up a slave to Santiago in Mexico.
Then one day everything blows up literally by The Seven MC, trying to take Santiago down. Aziel is one of the seven and when his eyes meet Ivy’s, something inside him stirs.
What will happen to Ivy now? Will she go from one bad life to another? A must read if you like MC stories.

This book is definitely a wild ride. It starts out heartbreaking reading Ivy’s story of being kidnapped and made into a sex slave for the head of the Mexican Cartel. Aziel ends up saving her during an attack to kill the her capture and at first glimpse he thought there was something special about her. From that moment on he does everything he can to protect her and she opens herself up finally being free and safe for the first time. They have a very rocky love story as Ivy tries to heal from her past and Aziel embraces the first person he’s cared about outside of his MC. But in the end their love always brings them together.
